Help in the customization of report!
Hi,
I'm trying to customize a report in Oracle BPA to print objects (EPC activities, functions, ..) and print attributes, description and other. But I am only able to print the attributes in columns but I want to print on lines. Can anyone help me?

Uninstalling Software: The Basics
Most OS X applications are completely self-contained "packages" that can be uninstalled by simply dragging the application to the Trash. Applications may create preference files that are stored in the /Home/Library/Preferences/ folder. Although they do nothing once you delete the associated application, they do take up some disk space. If you want you can look for them in the above location and delete them, too.
Some applications may install an uninstaller program that can be used to remove the application. In some cases the uninstaller may be part of the application's installer, and is invoked by clicking on a Customize button that will appear during the install process.
Some applications may install components in the /Home/Library/Applications Support/ folder. You can also check there to see if the application has created a folder. You can also delete the folder that's in the Applications Support folder. Again, they don't do anything but take up disk space once the application is trashed.
Some applications may install a startupitem or a Log In item. Startupitems are usually installed in the /Library/StartupItems/ folder and less often in the /Home/Library/StartupItems/ folder. Log In Items are set in the Accounts preferences. Open System Preferences, click on the Accounts icon, then click on the LogIn Items tab. Locate the item in the list for the application you want to remove and click on the "-" button to delete it from the list.
Some software use startup daemons or agents that are a new feature of the OS. Look for them in /Library/LaunchAgents/ and /Library/LaunchDaemons/ or in /Home/Library/LaunchAgents/.
If an application installs any other files the best way to track them down is to do a Finder search using the application name or the developer name as the search term. Unfortunately Spotlight will not look in certain folders by default. You can modify Spotlight's behavior or use a third-party search utility, Easy Find, instead. Download Easy Find at VersionTracker or MacUpdate.
Some applications install a receipt in the /Library/Receipts/ folder. Usually with the same name as the program or the developer. The item generally has a ".pkg" extension. Be sure you also delete this item as some programs use it to determine if it's already installed.

I am using report generation toolkit 1.1 with Labview 7.0 and Office 2003 professional. The create new report VI opens Excel but throws error (-2147167262- from automation open VI) when I try to open MS word. please help...

Does this error occur if you use any of the example programs that come shipped with LabVIEW? I would try opening one of the examples that write data to Word and see if those give you an error. Also, have you tried just putting down a New Report.VI and change the report type to Word? If this simple vi (that's all you need to open Word) breaks, I would check to see if there are any instances of Word still open. Check the task manager to see if any word processes are still open. There should not be a problem accessing Word 2003 from LabVIEW 7.0. If neither of these solutions work, please give some more detail about your application and we can research further. Thanks!

how to find the search help for the parameters stmt in a report , that is using which addition to the parameters statementI am not sure if I understood the question,but if you meant how to attach a search help to parameter for which a default search help is not available,you can do that by using addition "Matchcode Object"

Bringing up the help popup in an interactive report
The gear dropdown on an interactive search, has a help, that when clicked on would bring up a popup explaining the icons of the gear search.
I created a button and trying to bring up this help when the user clicks on it.
How would I go about doing this?

An interactive report is also known as a worksheet. Each interactive report region has a unique ID. That ID is needed as a parameter in the URL to generate the help page.
On second thought, try the following which should not need a page item:

All information about the classes and objects in a universe are stored in the repository database (universe domain). To get that information in your report you need to create a query on the repository database.
For an overview of all objectnames and descriptions that would be:

In a standard SAP project implementation, the 3 standard transport procedures are:
Development System (DEV) --> QA System (QAS) --> Production System (PRD)
In the above structure, the Training Client (TRN) could be made from the copy of PRD (after when real-time master data has been available) or from QA system (where configuration has been tested in DEV client, and the master data is uploaded manually for training purposes)
Sandbox (standalone): This can be refreshed with Golden Client to reflect the latest configuration performed to facilitate the development/testing purposes.
-Development (DEV): Where all system configurations and development activities are carried out.
-Quality Assurance (QAS): Where functional testing is carried out. The System Integration Testing (carried out by the -Development Team) and the User Acceptance Testing (carried out by XXX appointed personnel) is carried out in this server.
-Training (TRN): End Users are trained on this server.
-Production (PRD): After the System is commissioned all data entry and administrative functions will be carried out in this server.
This is by far the standard landscape architecture that is adopted and practiced in most implementations.

I have a report where I set the bind variable default using a API call. I do not want the user to change the value. How do I keep the text box for the bind variable value from showing????

It is not possible to hide a bind variable from appearing in the customization form. You can run the report directly with the
parameters and not take the user to the customization screen.
Say you have a bind variable dept in a report new_report then the url the user should use will be like this
http://mydomain/pls/portal30/portal30.new_report.show?p_arg_names=dept&p_arg_values=10

Hello, I run the disk untility earlier today, and after I have done "verify disk permission, repair disk permissions and verify disk", the following message came up, however, the last option "repair disk" is shaded, I can't choose to repair the disk.

Disk Utility can't repair a disk from which the system itself was booted.
To do a repair of your "Macintosh HD" put the OSX Install-Disk in your optical drive, restart the MacBook and press and hold down the 'C'-Key.
The system will boot from the OSX-DVD and will ask for the language.
After that the Installation Programm will (no worry), but don't install anything just choose from the Top Menu "Utilities" the Disk Utility and then you can repair your HDD.

PLEASE HELP !! Error: The underlying task reported failure on exit.
Last night, I looked at "Get Info" for the "Macintosh HD"
At the very bottom of the window are listed Permissions, that consisted of (1) Owner, (2) Admin, (3)Everyone.
I had the idea that if I REMOVED "Everyone" by selecting it and hitting "-", I could better secure access to the "Macintosh HD".
Well, now the G5 starts its boot up routine and stalls at the gray screen with pinwheel spinning.
1. I tried purging the P-RAM... no change.
2. I tried doing a "Safe Boot", didn't do anything, couldn't get it to boot up beyond gray screen.
3. Booted up from Leopard CD, and ran "Verify Disk" with the result message that "the volume Macintosh HD appears to be OK"
4. Ran "Repair Disk" with the result message that "the volume Macintosh HD appears to be OK"
5. Tried to run "Verify Permissions" with the result message "Error: The underlying task reported failure on exit. Permission verification complete"
6. Tried to run "Repair Permissions" with the result message "Error: The underlying task reported failure on exit. Permission verification complete"
I assume that my stupidly removing "Everyone" from the permissions list of "Macintosh HD" is the cause.
HELP !!!! IS there an easy way to restore the Permissions to where they were before ????

To get more details on what chmod does, do 'man chmod' from the command line. There are man pages for most of the command-line UNIX tools.
BTW, I don't think changing the permissions at the root of the hard drive is the best idea
This is one case where 'repair permissions' might help as well. Once booted into a shell you can do 'sudo diskutil repairpermissions /' -

I have a question from BI Answers.
So in 11g we can find all the recently viewed reports in the Most Recently viewed tabs in Home page ri8.
We have a report with a Report Prompt on date and also we have this same Report on the dashboard .This Dashboard also contains a Dashboard prompt on date .
We have a requirement .
When the user opens the report from recently viewed tab .He need to get the date from the particular Report date prompt But When the user tries to open the report from Dashboard ,the dashboard date should pass to the report and the date which is in the report should be negated .
Ex: Dashboard prompt has a date with june 13th and report has a date with may31. when the user tries to open the report from Recently viewed tab he need to see the data with MAY 31 and when he tries to open the same report from the dashboard then the JUNE 13th should pass to the Report and the report date MAY 31 should be negated .
IS this possible with creating the repository variables and session variables for the dates .

You can acheive something like your requirement by using a presentation variable and its default value.
In your dashboard prompt, have it set a presentation variable called, say, v_date
In your report put a filter on the date column and set it to "is equal to / is in". Click "Add More Options" and choose "Presentation Variable". In variable expr put: v_date and in the default type your report date in the correct format.

I've spent some time searching the forums and internet for my problem to no avail, so hopefully this isn't something that was posted before.
I recently upgraded my internal drive on my Macbook. Everything has been fine for a week or so, and Leopard ran smoothly. Yesterday, the machine got hung up on backing up to Time Machine. For whatever reason, it got hung up and now all I get when I try to reboot is a gray screen, the Apple logo, and a spinning progress disc.
I can boot from another external drive just fine, and the data on the disk is all there. I just cannot boot from my master internal drive.
I ran Disk Utility from the other external drive (also runs Leopard), and when I try to repair the disk, Mac OS X says everything is fine.
However, when I try to repair permissions, I get the following error:
Verify permissions for “John HD”
Error: The underlying task reported failure on exit.
Permissions verification complete
That's it...nothing else to it. I cannot seem to get over this error no matter what.
Also, I'm a bit nervous because my Time Machine folder has a folder labeled "Update in Progress" that is all white. Will I be able to backup from Time Macine, or is that data now corrupted?

2 Gig of RAMBefore you do anything it would be worth checking very, very carefully to make sure that you installed your new disk correctly and that all connections are absolutely solid.
Also, you might want to try booting from safe mode. Hold the shift key down on startup until you see the spinning gear. It takes a long time. If that works disable all your non-apple startup items in System Preferences and add them back in one by one until you find the troublemaker.
If a previously completed backup shows up in your Time Machine browser you should be able to choose that one from the Utilities menu from the Leopard install disk. It might not be a bad idea to zero out the drive before reinstalling from Time Machine even though DU is reporting no errors.
Also, since there seems to be an interrupted Time Machine backup make sure than any of your critical data has been backed up by another method before erasing your internal drive.
