I made a Web Application with creator.Now i need to make reports of the data in my web application.
I have heard of Jasper Report.
But I am unable to find out ,from where to start with in Creator for incorporating Jasper Reports.
I have read some posts in this forum regarding Jasper Reports.But i am having difficulty to start with.My web application is using Oracle 8i as datasource.
Can anybody help in this regard
Thanks .
Thanks for ur reply,
I have already read that thread.But that is a bit complex for me.
I am finding it difficult ,from where to start with.
That is ,where to put the code for calling the report creation procedure.
where to put the xml file for the design of the report.
Can somebody tell me ?

How to deploy Jdeveloper application to war file using jasper reports?
Hello people,
I´m not sure I this is the right place to ask, but I really need help.
I´m using Jdeve 10.1.3.2
My application is working perfectly. However when I deploy to war file in publish it into application server OC4J. I can´t print report.
the error says that it can´t find jrxml file.
I´ve tried to deploy report´s files with the applicaiton. I´ve tried just to set the path of the jrxml file. but nothing works.
How can I deploy my applicattion to use Jasper reports correctly?
Thanks willianHi,
I think first you need to wrap it into an EAR file, then you can deploy it.
As far as I know standalone deployment of WAR is deprecated as of 640.

ADF 11G: opening PDF into new Window using Jasper Report
Hello, I am using JDev 11.1.1.5.0
I have a page into a bound Task FLow containing a table and a "print "button".
I am using Jasper Report to create a PDF document.
I want this document to be opened into a new Window when the user click on the button.
I've been reading several threads/blogs to do this but it is not working.
please help me out with the sample or some link where I can refer.
Thanks
SanjeevHi All,
Today I checked and got the Reason why Server is getting shut down while closing the Report window.... this is just because of JasperViewer.
so while opening the JasperViewer to show the Report we need to pass the second parameter as False.
JasperViewer.viewReport(jasperPrint,false);k thanks for your update....
but still my actual problem exist....
I don't want to use JasperViewer to view the Report.
Like when I'm clicking on Button PDF Report is opening in the same Winodw.
response.setHeader("Content-Disposition",
"inline; filename=\"ReportFile.pdf\"");it will open as attachment if I'll use the below code and my ShowReport Button is getting disabled....
response.setHeader("Content-Disposition",
"attachement; filename=\"ReportFile.pdf\"");As in Page ShowReport Button is getting disabled so after exporting the Report I want to redirect to the page but getting Error like Illegal State Exception: Response Already Commiteed
Error Log:

Help required: Cannot open pdf using Jasper Report in Weblogic workshop 9.2
This message was accepted by the [email protected] mailing list. Hi ,
I am new to jasper reports and I am using them in Java Page Flow in bea workshop 9.2
In one of my action methods
ServletOutputStream servletOutputStream = getResponse().getOutputStream();
InputStream reportStream = getServlet().getServletConfig().getServletContext().getResourceAsStream("/classic.jasper");
JasperRunManager.runReportToPdfStream(reportStream, servletOutputStream, new HashMap() ,connection);
getResponse().setContentType("application/pdf");
servletOutputStream.flush();
servletOutputStream.close();
connection.close();
When I invoke this action method from another page on click of submit , the pdf file opens fine for the first time( first submit) , and then if I click on submit again, it fails to open the pdf with the error message ,
There was an error opening this document . This file cannot be found.
Please help me resolve the issue, its urgent.
Thanx in advanceThanks for the reply David. The problem we're having is that when you are in Workshop, there is the option, under the "File" menu to "Refresh" (F5) You sometimes need to do this to refresh your workspace. I'm sorry, I'm not a developer, so I don't know the details behind what that actually does, other than it "refreshes the workspace" so we can pick up the changes made and checked into subversion.
Without performing this step, you don't always build from the latest and greatest code.
The problem we're facing is that it seems that you need to be in Workshop to perform this step. There is a scripted way to do the refresh, but it requires you to open Workshop and run the script. What we're trying to accomplish is a truly scripted solution. All the other steps in the build process can be performed without opening Workshop, but because we can't figure out a way to do this one piece, we cannot have an automated build process.

Anyone using Jasper Reports or anything else?
Anyone out there using JasperReports with Coldfusion 8?
cfdocument and cfReport have such a performance hit on our box when
we try to run certain reports. IE - Report Cards We need something
that would be able to run 100+ pages of dynamic data quickly and
efficiently. If anyone has any suggestions of what we could look
into or how to get Jasper up and running I would appreciate any
help.
Thanks.
BeckyYes we are starting to run Jasper within CF 8. The thing I'm
working thru right now (as I type this) is that an older version of
Jasper is embedded within ColdFusion. Specifically cfusion.jar. Not
sure what Adobe is using it for, but I might have to run a seperate
JVM to not have a library conflict.
<cfobject type="java"
class="net.sf.jasperreports.engine.JasperRunManager"
action="create" name="jrrm" >
<cfobject type="java"
class="net.sf.jasperreports.engine.JasperCompileManager"
action="create" name="jrcm" >
<cfoutput>#jrrm.getClass().getProtectionDomain().getCodeSource().getLocation().toString()# </cfoutput>
The output here will show which jar the class is being loaded
from. I was just trying to get my code to compile before plopping
the .JAR files around, and it just worked out of the box. The
problem is the CF version is obviously older then 3.1 which is what
I want to use now. So my reports are throwing an error when trying
to compile them.
You could also look at using JasperReportServer and running
reports via WebServices. The reason I can't use webservices is the
report have to be already load into the server and we have many
different instances of our app that would make that nearly
impossible to manage. The webservices do include support for adding
reports on the fly. If you are using this as a "simplish" in house
application using the report server is probably the best way to go. -
I am first time using jasper report help me
what r the jar files download and where it place?
send to me sample programPreliminary Setup Jar
Download the open source JasperReports tool jar file jasperreports-1.2.7.jar. You will also need to download the iText Java-PDF library itext-1.4.5.jar, the Jakarta-POI zip file poi-bin-2.5.1-final-20040804.zip, and the Commons Digester 1.7 (extract the zip file to a directory).
Store into your lib dir

What are the steps involved in creating a JasperDecisions report?
To create a report, the user selects an existing report from the Scope Center, clicks on Ad Hoc Wizard, which launches the wizard. The user then chooses whether the desired report will be a table or a chart. After selecting columns and column order, the user can choose one or more levels of grouping. They can also set column aggregation functions such as sum, count, min, or max. The user can then apply a style from a style palette and run the report. Using this simple step-by-step guide, the Ad Hoc Wizard allows a novice user to create the report with no training. -
Not able to compile an xml file using jasper reports through jsp page
hi,
i have compiled an xml file and got html,pdf etc using jasperreports but that was from an java application and now i want to convert this application to an jsp page so i have copied these jar files "commons-beanutils-1.5.jar","commons-collections-2.1.jar","commons-digester-1.3.jar","itext-1.01.jar","jasperreports-0.5.2.jar" to the folder "C:\Program Files\Apache Tomcat 4.0\webapps\examples\WEB-INF\lib" and have set classpath to these jar files.
my application(java class invoked by a servlet) is in C:\Program Files\Apache Tomcat 4.0\webapps\examples\WEB-INF\classes.
i m using this API "JasperCompileManager.compileReportToFile(fileName);"
but i m getting following error:

i have one folder "C:\Program Files\Apache Tomcat 4.0\org\apache\commons\logging" containing some LogFactory calsses but i dont know where to put this folder so that tomcat can find them.
please help me..
i know i may not be clear to u but plz give me some way out i m totally stucked.
manishhi,
thanx for your reply.
ya i have "commons-logging-1.0.2.jar" file but when i tried to put it with other jar files and set the class path and run the application thru tomcat then it automatically stops the tomact.and when i removed this perticular logging jar file then tomcat works normally but gives the error which i mentioned before.
i have also tried the second option u suggested, by putting the LogFactory class files in "C:\Program Files\Apache Tomcat 4.0\webapps\examples\WEB-INF\classes\org\apache\commons\logging" but that was not working.shud i set some classpath for them? or shud i have to import these packages........ but when i copied this folder "org" to C:\Program Files\Apache Tomcat 4.0\webapps\examples\WEB-INF\classes and in program wrote import org.* then copilation error occured "no such package found.
what to do now.
manish
