my iphone 3gs not working in nepal so i want to know the carrier of it how do i do it
Why do you say it is not working? Where did you purchase the phone? Are there supported carriers in Nepal? Sounds like you have a locked device and tried to update it and now it is relocked?

Many thanks in advance for who would help meCall AppleCare in the UK & they will tell you the carrier your phone is locked to, or ask your friend.
Won't do you any good though, as the UK carriers won't authorize the unlocking of your phone unless you are a current or former customer...obviously, you are not.
Mail it back to your friend & either purchase an iPhone where you live, or have your friend get you an officially unlocked iPhone or this phone unlocked.

YOU bought the phone. What carrier did you choose when you purchased it? If you bought it in Thailand, then US carriers are not a choice if you purchased it from Apple or a legitimate source.
I'm willing to bet you bought a gray market phone, in which case all bets are off. Call AppleCare and give them the serial number. See if they can tell you who it's locked to, although at this stage it probably doesn't matter. Only the carrier can unlock it and if you're not a customer of theirs they won't do it anyway most likely, meaning you wasted your money. Return it for a refund and buy a phone from a legitimate source. -

ThanksApart from inserting different networks SIMs and finding out which it works and doesn't work on, there is no way to tell which network an iPhone is or isn't locked to.

It sounds like you are trying to find the carrier your phone is locked to. If you can turn on the phone you can check in the settings:

You really meant that the price of an iPhone purchased in the U.S and then paying import duties and VAT when taking it home would (likely be close to the) same price as if purchased in his home country.
