Help needed on running a downloaded firmware file
Hello,
I recently downloaded new firmware to my computer for my WRT54GS Ver 6 wireless router. It is a .bin file (whatever that is). I cannot get it to open. Can anyone help me? Thanks and Happy New Year.

Follow these steps to upgrade the firmware on the device: -
Open an Internet Explorer browser page.In the address bar type - 192.168.1.1
Leave username blank & in password use admin in lower case...
Click on the 'Administration' tab- Then click on the 'Firmware Upgrade' sub tab- Here click on 'Browse' and browse the .bin firmware file that you have downloaded and click on "Upgrade"...
Wait for few seconds until it shows that "Upgrade is successful" After the firmware upgrade, click on "Reboot" and you will be returned back to the same page OR it will say "Page cannot be displayed".
After the Upgrade Press and hold the reset button for 30 seconds...
Then, unplug the power cable while holding down the reset button for another 30 Seconds...
Plug the power cable back in, and keep holding down the reset button for another 30 Seconds...
Release the reset button...Now re-configure your router...

So to overcome this error I had to place the <Resource> element in DBTest.xml under C:\Tomcat 6.0\conf\Catalina\localhost {color:#000000}and then it works fine. {color}{color:#ff0000}*Why is the context.xml file in META-INF not considered by Tomcat server using Sysdeo Plugin?*

Upgraded to OSX 10.8.2 and now I can't run any downloaded dmg files.

When I click on a link to a file, (for instance a Filesonic link) I used to get asked if I wanted to run or download the file. Now it just goes straight to download. How can I stop it doing this? Thank you.

You cannot directly upload a file from Client machine even if you know the exact harddisk location of the file. Java does not allow this. You either need to use one of the following:
1. Multipart Form Upload
2. Signed Applet to upload the file.

I create a page where visitors should be able, to
1. listen direct to the file (solved this adding a flashplayer)
2. subsuscribe to a podcast (solved with lemonz dream podcast maker) and last
3. Download the file direct
so, if Visitors want to do point 3. Do they need the ProVersion? Do I have to make a .zip and add this also to the side.

Or create a zip file and link to it. Clicking the link will usually download the zip file. Hopefuly they know how to unzip it.
Or ignore these solutions and just tell them to subscribe to your podcast. -

before selling i took backup of contacts from backup restore option in application section
now i bought a N8 but i m not able to restore my contacts
1. is there any way to restore them in N8?
2. if not, can i convert them in TEXT or any readable format

thanks in advanceThe backup procedures built into the phone are only designed for restoring to the same phone (ie: in case or data corruption, software update or repair etc.), they can't usually be used to restore to a phone with a different operating system.
You should have backed up with Ovi Suite before selling the N900, that would have been able to restore to the N8. -

If you define the command for each operating system using transactions SM69 (You can test it with SM49) and then call it using SXPG_COMMAND_EXECUTE which contains a parameter defining the operating system (SY-OPSYS)
then it does not matter which operating system is running, the function module always calls the correct version of the command.
So, for example you could define a command 'OS_COMMAND'
which deleted a file. This would have one version for Dos
which said 'del', and a second version for unix which said 'rm'.
The correct command would be specified by the call to SXPG_COMMAND_EXECUTE because the operating system parameter differentiates between the two commands.

Help needed in executing a remote batch file
I need to execute a batch file which is located on a remote machine through my machine. I have no idea to go about with. Please can someone help me out with can be used to execute the remote bat file. I am at present using Runtime.exec() to execute it on my machine.. But i cant use it to execute teh bat file on teh remote machine.Please help
Below is an example server that would run on the remote host. You can connect to it using telnet from DOS prompt, it takes a Y/N to run your command in the cmd variable. I haven't included code for a client as it's really not needed for the example below.
Change the cmd and port variables to what you need. You may need to setup firewall rules to allow your chosen port.
Once it's running, you can test it by using "telnet localhost 1234" on your machine, localhost would obviously become the remote computer's hostname or IP.
I am incredibly new to Java (using the forums to learn bits), so excuse any bad coding practises, I'm sure people will point them out.
Keep in mind that this is totally insecure, so if you're using it on an untrusted network, you may want to look into encryption and providing some kind of password authentication, that, for the moment is out of my league.

Hi.
I have 2 program.
First program is to open and choose the file to run so it will display the choosen file's path and filename and most importantly - its results on a Window.
Second program is design to run an external file e.g. music.mpeg and count number of services inside this file.
Question is: How do I combine both classes such that the results of the number of services are display on the Window created by the first program upon clicking on a button on the Window e.g. <Count now>?

Cron job help- Need to run the Autobuddy command every night...
I have not written anything in the form of a Unix script for YEARS and YEARS. Our XServe was built in Advanced mode, currently running 10.5.4 Server. On this box, we are running Wiki and iChat. Since we built this box as an Advanced box the "Autobuddy" option was not available.
I have since enabled it at the command line, but I am told by Apple that there still needs to be a command run after every time a user logs in if you want others to Autobuddy. That command is this:
"sudo /usr/bin/jabber_autobuddy -m"
Now I think this would be pretty easy to setup as an automatic cron script, but like I said, I have not written something like this in forever. Not to mention, I am not 100% sure what needs to happen since running the script with an sudo command will prompt for the root password.
I was wondering if anyone would be able to help me write the script up, and give me some instructions on how to install it. I just want it run everyday, midnight is fine, I don't really care. All I know is that we have a dept of 150 people, and it grows and shrinks all the time. They can deal with a new user not being seen for 24-48 hours, I just want to get this automated.
Any helps would be GREATLY appreciated!

TomIf you want to keep it simple try [CronniX|http://www.abstracture.de/projects-en/cronnix] a graphical tool for setting up CRON jobs on OSX. Whilst I have not actually done an autobuuddy in this way, I cannot see any reason why it will not run as a Cron Job.
The proper way ideally would be to use the launchd service.

Need to run RemoteDesktop from JSP file, WebServer Running in Linux.

i want to run a RemoteDesktop(.RDP) from a JSP page, webserver is running on Linux.
Like i am having abc.rdp file, when i am invoking this file from the jsp, it is displaying the content of the abc.rdp file.
instead of that i am using MIME, following is the snippet i am using.....

Help needed in running the RMI application with multiple clients

I have my RMI application with one server and 6 clients. I keep all the server and client programs in the same directory. When i run the clients, the first 2 clients work properly but when the third or the fourth client starts, it works normally in getting the data and after a while it crashes. If teh third crashes the 4th works and if the 4th crashes the 3rd, 4th and 5th works ...randomly atleast one or 2 clients crash always.

Help needed in encrypting and decrypting a file
Hello,
I just started looking into the Java Security.I need to encrypt a file using any popular alogrithm like RSA or DES and write it to disk.and again decrypt this file at a later time when needed.
I was checking out with different ways of doing so,but found it difficult to persist the key some where.
Could some one help me in this regard,with a tutorial or a sample program where I will be able to give cleartext file as an input and get a ciphered text file as output and vice versa?Probably the simplest solution is to use password-based encryption (PBE).
