Help!Net8 config exception

I installed the form 6i and report 6i in a P4 pc with win98 2nd edition. When i tried to use the net8 easy config to connect to another machine (win2k+oracle 8.1.6ee), the net8 crashed: the jrew.exe brings on the memeory page error.
does anyboy know how to deal with it?
any suggestion would be greatly appreciated!!!

Go to Metalink and look at note 120529.996
Oracle does not support all the products on the Pentium 4 plantform yet.
You do not have to use the Easy config program. You can modify the tnsnames.ora file your self. The Easy config is just a GUI tool that helps you modify the file.
The file locations is normally
$ORACLE_HOME\NET80\ADMIN for Net8
OR
$ORACLE_HOME\NETWORK\ADMIN
null

Net8 Config/Directory Server Problem

I have installed personnal 8i on my Windows 2000 Advanced Server box. I want to test it on this server only, don't want to do any networking, etc. How do I set up the Net8 config for no networking. Do I need to ?
I can get the listener set up and started, but do I need it ?
Every time I try to do anything, I get an error regarding "can't connect to a directory server" I have been trying to use the Net8 config ass't to set it, but can't get that working either. The server does have a host name and an IP address, but does'nt belong to a domain. I don't want to install active directory.
How can I get this to run "stand alone" ??

The directory server reports all connections, requests and results in the logs/access file (under the instance directory).
All errors are reported in the logs/errors file.
Additional messages can be generated by changing the errorlog level and infolog levels via the Console, or via LDAP. Please refer to the Administration Guide and the Reference Manual for the details.

Error while reading native data.
[Line=6, Col=7|http://forums.oracle.com/forums/] Not enough data available in the input, when trying to read data of length "22" for "element with name PurOrderNum" from the specified position, using "style" as "fixedLength" and "length" as "22".
Ensure that there is enough data from the specified position in the input.
Let me also give you the brief scenario of what I am trying to achieve.
INTERFACE FUNCTIONING:_
I have an interface which reads the records in a file in a chunk through ChunkRead adapter and and after one successful reading if chunk it calls the DB adapter to insert the records in the table.
Now these records are committed and next chunk is read and the process goes on till all the records are read.
After this the API is called which does the processing of these records.
Inserting records in the DB is a XA transaction which means if anything goes wrong while inserting the data, the records which are added earlier are rolled back.
ISSUE:_
Now the issue comes when I do the negative testing. Since my file is based on fixed length schema., I change the length of last record from 15 to 13. (say total are 10 records)
Now what happens is when chunkread tries to read the record of 15 length it gets only 13 characters and hence ignores the records.
But the chunkread reads all other 9 records correctly and sends this to DB adapter which now inserts them correctly in the DB.
But being a global transaction I want that if any record is missing from DB in comparison to those in file then whole transaction should roll back.
So I am unable to make this whole process as global transaction. This is because the ChunkRead adapter inspite of detecting the error doesn’t throw it back.
Moreover if this problem occurs in say next chunk then also I am unable to find out how to rollback the whole transaction. Because the first chunk was correct.
So basically two concerns are there:+
How to detect that chunkread adapter has missed one record?+
Secondly, If it’s detected then how should I rollback the transaction that caused earlier records to enter into database?+
Please let me know if anyone has faced this issue earlyer and how it got resolved. Any pointers regarding this would be of great help.

Just a thought, you could set the terminator for the last field as {eol} instead of length, this means that it should read the last field regardless of the length.
Depending on the logic of Db adapter the error could be traped due to incorrect length.
If the file starts each row with a constant(s), e.g. 01 then you can terminate the previous line on that, this is the better option but relys on the file format.
The other option is a little thing call compensation, ouch. Basically this allows you to back out commited rows but you have to provide all the logic, it is generally something people avoid because of the complexity.

This is the same problem that we have encountered installing 8.1.7 clients on AIX 4.3.3 and 5.2. However I did successfully install it on one AIX 4.3.3 machine. Comparing the oracle logs there are no differences in the successful and unsuccessful installs until the point netasst hangs. All the machines are definitely set to run the 32 bit kernel.

Urgent help with an exception !!

Hi I Use a java class to calculate some data.
This java class is called from a jsp page and first I create a Object from the class (and the constructor method is been called). In this constructor I recive (from the jsp page) a String[][] and other diferent values, but in this method I "copy" the String[][] I have passed to a Double [][] variable (defined like global) and I obtain an exception when the Sting[][] variable contains null vales. But I think I am treating that subject:

If you had some code comparing the entries for the String array to null, I would agree with you. But you don't. So you are calling new Double(null) and throwing that exception.Thanks for ur answer DrClap.

well, i figured out the problem so thought to share with all aswell.
all i changed was the name of the variable from mDept to dept.
java beans has its own set of rules and naming conventions which i have not read much about but this problem had to do sumthing with that!
just changing the name simply works fine!

Help:Extension Filters exception

A)I have included the detailed description of the steps followed.As a part of my new assignment i have been asked to upgrade to Tomahawk1.1.3.I am Websphere RAD to build my application.
The application uses custom components <t:inputCalendar> and <tanelTabbedPane>.The application worked properly with Tomahawk1.1.1 but once i have upgraded to Tomahawk1.1.3 i am getting the error message "This portlet is unavailable".
Please note i have used jsf-api.jar(version 1.1) and jsf-impl.jar and not myfaces-all.jar(myfaces-api.jar and myfaces-impl.jar)
B)I have also configured the extension filter in my web.xml file.

Help with nullPointer exception

I would like some help identifying and error in the code below. Im getting a nullPointer exception at the location specified in the code. Im adding elements to a tableModel. What puzzles me is that the strings I add to the model does contain values. And it does not complain about adding them. Perhaps this is just a simple error, and you more experinced programmars are probably loughing at me ;)

It seems to be setup ok for 802.1x with WEP re-keying but we are not being assigned an IP address after connection is established. We have confirmed EAP-TLS works through our Radius box using a different AP, the Linksys WRT54G so it seems to be a configuration issue.

Help identifiying this exception

I've been working on a project for a while now, that deals with displaying a set of JPGs from a server, then swapping those images with new images, and displaying those. However, I just came across an exception error that I have never got before and have no clue where to start looking. This is exactly what it says:

Ok, so I have an array of images called img[]. I do the following to add an image to the array:
img[i] = getImage(getCodeBase(), images[current_img+i]);
tracker.addImage(img,0);
so, I added a few lines to check if it was null, like you said
if(img[i] != null) {
     g.drawImage(img, 0, 35, this);
Is that what you were referring to, or were you suggesting a different method. And thanks for all the tips guys! Its giving me someplace to start with.

Help Regarding OutOfMemoryError Exception

Hello,
I am trying to write a small program, which downloads all images returned by a google image search. First when I give a query like "tiger" to search, it downloads the images numbering till 684. The download of images count start from 0. My code proceeds till 684 (the 684 images are downloaded and saved on my desktop). But here the OutOfMemoryError is being thrown my JVM
Exception in thread "main" java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: Java heap space
But still there are images that have to be saved by the my program.
Can any please help how to overcome this exception.
