Help setting up for spicific output sizes

This is probably a very basic issue but I need help. I am using Premier Pro CS4 and have a variety of digital media sizes ranging from from 320x240 to 720x480 and need to find the correct way to set things up so i can scale the different sources up or down to match my final out put size of 480X360. And the best way to get a specific sized scale.
Thank you!!!

Ok this is driving me crazy...I have tried setting up new sequences, new projects and everything I can imagine. I thought I found it when I discovered that setting the program monitor to 100% doesn't actually show you the whole frame...what was I thinking - errrrrr. I set it to 75% and saw that all my media was not going edge to edge as suggested by Stanley above. I re-scaled all the media and then went to the export window and on the output screen I saw the re-size box was checked and I had black edges again. When I turned it off it changed the output size to 436X360.
HELP!!!!!!!!!!!
Here is a link to the screen grabs - http://johnandtj.com/pics/
Picture 1 shows my desktop with the preview and program window at 75% and that I have the correct sequence selected at the top of the program monitor (sequences settings in Picture 2).
Picuure 2 shows my sequence settings and the frame size of 480X360
Picture 3 shows my export settings and preview on the source tab
Picture 4 shows my my export settings and preview on the output tab and the fact that it sees the video as too tall hence the re-size is checked and it shrinks the video and gives black left and right.
Picture 5 shows my my export settings and preview on the output tab and the video fits but the re-size is unchecked and so the size is 436x360. (How is this possible).
PLEASE HELP me figure out this insanity (or just loan me a gun :-)
I will be off line till late pacific time and will hope to fine a miracle answer to get me going on this late night session...
MANY, MANY THANKS!

  • Recommendations for reducing output size

    Hello,
My RoboHelp 10 merged project has three SSL outputs: Windows, Linux and Mac versions. Each image in the project therefore has three versions. I have 194 topics, not a huge project, IMO. The generated output for the Windows version is 30.8 MB, which is 1,008 files, about 500 of which are image files, 27 folders. Theoretically, this means that all three versions when published have a total size on disk in the area of 90+ MB. My issue is that I work on the project locally, generate locally, publish to a remote source controlled location and then the network guys copy the published output to a web server. They want me to find out if I can reduce the size of the project so it takes as little time as possible for them to copy it. The copy is the slowest part of the whole thing, including my publish.
One thing I noticed after the last time I published is that every so often, RoboHelp seems to publish extraneous files/folders to the output that should not be there, as in when compared to a local generated version, they are not in the generated version (which clears the output folder each time). When I cleaned up those extra files after our last publish, the size on disk reduced from 45MB to 31MB. Should I just be watching out for the "extra" unwanted/unnecessary folders and deleting them or is there more I can do within my RoboHelp project to reduce the published size?
I've been using RoboHelp since RH8 but just jumped right into it without any training or help, apart from what I've received here (thank you all!) so although my projects look good and perform well, any help would be appreciated! At this point, it is taking so long that the network guys want me to look into switching to another tool that one of them knows. I've invested a lot of time and effort into RH, not really interested in another learning curve.
    Thanks!
    Helen

    Hello again
Hmmm, well, after reading your reply, I'm thinking that you shouldn't get TOO excited just yet. We need to clarify some things.
For starters, you are saying you have different screen captures that you use for each of the outputs? If so, it would seem that maybe you DO actually need the different outputs. But before we can assume that to be true, we need to know more about the actual information being delivered.
For example, what does each of the screen captures show?
What I was thinking may have been overlooked with RoboHelp was that maybe you simply needed to present the SAME information to folks, but they might be using a Windows browser to view it, or a Linux browser to view it or a Mac browser to view it. And if that's the case, there isn't a need for specific images to each operating system.

  • Help setting up for ipad for 9yo for school

We have recently bought an Ipad air 2 for my daughter who needs it for school. I am just after some advice on the best way to set it up in regards to parental control etc. Does she or should she have her own email address?
She is a pretty good kid and has an ipod touch, which she is only allowed to use on weekends. Have never had a problem with purchases or downloads as I had the password. But now she will need it in order to download stuff for school. Does she need her own apple id?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • Need help on format for query output

I am new to SQL Developer.
When I run a query in the worksheet, sometimes the results are in table format and sometimes they are in text format. I would like to have the output always in table format, as it is easier to save to Excel that way.
Is there a setting for this? Or can someone explain to me what triggers the format to change for some queries?
I am using SQL D 3.1.07 Build MAIN-07.42 and accessing an instance on 11.2.0.2.

    Hi,
    Welcome to the forum!
If you look carefully at the worksheet's toolbar, you will notice two green arrowhead icons on the left side: one larger and one smaller imposed over a lined paper image. How they work:
    1. The larger renders the query result in a grid format (what you call table format). Hover over it with the mouse and see: Run Statement (Ctrl+Enter)
    2. The smaller renders the query result in script output format. Hover over it with the mouse and see: Run Script (F5)

Also, if you use Run Statement to execute code that is inherently script-like, it will treat as if you used Run Script

  • Setting a fix file output size regardless of input file..How?

I need to make several short movies that do not exceed 50MB in size as that is the limit set by my hosting company. Microsoft's movie allowed you to do this and would adjust the quality to suit. But how in Imovie?

    1. There is no reliable way of guessing the encoding of a file without that information. Thats why XML for example has very strict rules wrt. it's encoding (short form: use UTF-8 or UTF-16, if you use anything else, you'll have to specify it)
    2. you might be able to make an educated guess if the possible range of encodings is limited, but it will probably never be 100% certain
    3. The HTML file might have a header entry "<meta http-equiv..." that tells you about it's encoding. You could try to read the start of the file and see if you find that, then if you found it re-read the entire file.

  • Need help setting up for wireless printing- remote access- by email

When trying to set up my printer I get a box that says "Printers Code", is the "printer code" another word for hardware address or is it the access point hw address or what is it? I wish the HP people would stick to the same nomenclature in their set up!

    Hi,
Printer code is a code for your printer which allows you to register to ePrint center. From there you can get printer email address and you can email to this email address for printer to print. Not all printers have printer code. You can read more information from the following link:

  • Re: Setting FrameRate for the output movie file

    A small typing mistake ,
    I have typed as,
"so the frame should be 1" instead of "so the frame rate should be 1"

Try exporting to Windows Media at 8Mbps. Any higher data rate and the PC might choke on it.
But make sure his monitor is capable of 1920X1080 because more likely he would be just as happy with 1290X720 and the quality would be even better at that size using the same data rate.

  • Image Capture - Can't set output size or jpeg options

I upgraded to SL and found out that I now have to use Image Capture instead of HP ScanPro on my OfficeJet 5510. In ScanPro, after the preview scan, I could select an area to be scanned, specify a width for the output size in pixels and let ScanPro calculate the height, and scan to a jpeg file specifying the jpeg quality as medium. Image Capture does not allow these settings. Are there any Image Capture options that are hidden somewhere or is there any other way to scan in SL?

I am having the same issue with Image Capture as well. It's not just with my JPG settings, it's with all scanned document using the document feeder. I use a canon MF4370dn. I'm attempting to scan a 20 page document to PDF and it will not allow me to set the output size, there's an option there, just will not allow me to set it (it stays blank). So when I scan I get a very small pixel on the page (about 1/2" by 1/2" on each page, nothing else is scanned in. Weird, any help?

  • Comments and Moderators settings in RoboHelp Server is for AIR files? Or can it used for Pro outputs as well?

Please explain how comments are enabled for Pro outputs in RH server. Is it only for AIR file, but i understand AIR output is not supported. Then how Moderators setting work for PRo outputs?

    Hi, PraTha
If I can amplify what Peter has mentioned above. Actually it is just a wordy way of saying what Peter posted in one sentence! Hopefully it will help a bit.
The relationship of AIR output and how it relates to Rh Server is admittedly confusing. In fact both are mutually exclusive.
The AIR Help output does indeed support commenting as well as the moderation of those comments by designated people.
However RoboHelp Server *does not* support commenting at this time. This feature has been requested and perhaps we will see it in a future release.
Unlike a help system delivered by HTTP from a web server (like RoboHelp Server's WebHelp Pro), the AIR Help output (.air file) is an application which is installed on the end-user's local computer. For security reasons this works well for distributing and updating a help system. Optionally, it also supports commenting but because the comments must be "stored" somewhere outside the local computer, there are serveral options. One is to store them on an internal server (such as a network drive behind a firewall).
So where might RoboHelp Server come into the picture at all? Here's the answer. Some organizations deploy both output flavors (AIR and RoboHelp Server) for different systems and different audiences. IF the RoboHelp authors *coincidentally* happen to have RoboHelp Server in their organization, then this server can be used to authenticate (usernames/passwords) for the moderation and storage of comments that AIR Help requires.
The bottom line is that presently RoboHelp Server does not support commenting for its own output, though it can as a convenient "host" for the comments and moderation of a separate AIR Help system.

  • Sqlplus set statement:format the output without specifying every col length

    Hi ppl,
i am writing below query inside a shell script. Is there any way to format the output of sqlplus without providing the name of all the columns that we are going to output. for example, in below code i have specified the column width of the columns i want to output. but if the number of columns is large (or when we want to do a select * from...) then it becomes tedious to write all of them. Is there any way i can define display length all the columns to be of same size.. or at least all the number columns of one size, char columns of one size etc...
    sqlplus -sa/passwd@db_name << EOF
    SET ECHO ON;
    SET HEADING ON;
    COLUMN USERNAME FORMAT A20;
    COLUMN USER_ID FORMAT A20;
    COLUMN PASSWORD FORMAT A20;
    spool filename.txt
    some qry... ;
    exit
    EOFThanks

My SQL*Plus is a bit rusty, but I don't think you can for characters. You can set NUMWIDTH for a default size for numeric columns.
You could write a small bit of SQL to generate the required column definitions. You could even hit ALL_TAB_COLUMNS to generate a generic 'set every column width' file and run it as a separate sql script in your main script. Not sure if there is an upper limit on the number of Columns you can define.
Back in the day when we did everything with SQL*Plus scripts, we had a standard columns file that we called in all our scripts, just for this purpose.

  • How to set output size for mp4?

    Hello,
I'm having a problem with the export of a Captivate video tutorial.
The output size is w 1440 x h 900 pixels. It comes out looking fine, but as soon as we put it through any other transcoding process as required by our own workflows, the image quality deteriorates.
Now, I've read in this forum that any alteration of the size of the image will cause this deterioration in quality. Effectively, the dimensions of the transcoded output from our own video editors are much smaller than those of the input mp4.
However, we would like to keep that smaller size because it makes for better performances in video streaming.
Is there any way in Captivate to set the dimensions for the mp4 output to be smaller? The 1440 x 900 dimensions are already different from the capture area (the whole screen), so it seems they are independent from the capture settings.
Thanks to anyone who can help.

  • Help Needed Configuring Post Set Up For Big Indie Feature:

We’ve got incredible performances from an amazing cast of well-known character actors from film, TV and stage, a unique and inspiring script, and some truly beautiful, cinematic footage. And now — it’s all about putting it together…
But I’m having trouble finding an accurate, effective and (most importantly) a DETAILED workflow accommodating the latest version of Premiere, to post a LENGHTY feature film shot on the RED Epic in 5k FF.  I’ve reviewed videos here, but in conducting edit tests, I'm encountering all manner of glitches and problems, and need to ensure that I am properly configuring our post workflow and all of the associated hardware.
I’ll be dividing the film into project file “reels” to help keep things manageable.  As editor and DP, it's also most important for me to edit on a 4k timeline (to take advantage of reframing and stabilization of the 5k). Footage is on three Pegasus II RAIDS.
There will be a LOT of FX work done outside of Premiere in AE (and other compositing and graphics programs).  I’m planning to finish in Resolve, outputting at 4k.
I have the new Mac Pro with:
    - 2.7GHz 12-core Intel Xeon E5 with 30MB of L3 cache
    - 64GB (4x16GB) of 1866MHz DDR3 ECC - 4X16GB
    - 1TB PCIe-based flash storage
    - Dual AMD FirePro D700 GPUs with 6GB of GDDR5 VRAM each
A Sonnet Echo Express III Desktop 3-Slot (with Thunderbolt upgrade) housing the following:
    - Red Rocket
    - Connection card for HP LTO5 Ultrium 3000 Sas Ext Tape Drive
If needed, I’m open to acquiring other cards or hardware, too (possibly adding the Red Rocket-X to the mix).  And if the referral of a PAID individual with firsthand knowledge of such a setup – to at least help with the initial set up and configuration – is what I need, I’m open to that, as well.
We truly have an amazingly powerful compilation of principal photography, and a great story to tell — I just need to overcome this major hurdle of setting up our post.  As a somewhat newbie to Premiere, I greatly appreciate any advice, pointing-me-in-the-right-direction, or suggestions of individuals to help oversee this for compensation and screen credit that anyone can offer me here...
    Many Thanks,
    Bill

Oooh...big involved questions and many of them.
    If it helps..
A few things I know I would do before even starting on the actual film edit
..is give the new system a massive shakedown.
Thrash the hardware  and software with test footage , graphics and audio etc.
    Test the pipelines and workflows.
Set up a BACKUP routine. DO NOT RELY ON AUTOSAVES
Would  NOT do  O.S updates once started with a stable system.
Me...I would not use a Dynamic Link workflow for FX.  (I would use D.Is)
Would create a flow chart plan for the edit and post prod to avoid generation losses, efficiencies and scheduling.
Work toward  lock downs before FX , audio, CC and Grade. (Avoid the trap of being creatively impatient for the benefit of a smooth edit experience)
    Sort this first...
I'm encountering all manner of glitches and problems, and need to ensure that I am properly configuring our post workflow and all of the associated hardware.
You might want to specify some of this stuff and see if you get answers here or elsewhere..
Suggestion - can you wait for next version of PPro ? - coming very soon evidently. Start with latest version so you don't need to update midstream.  A feature takes a long time to post and some cool new  features may help. eg  Master Clip enhanced.
Have you considered Prelude in the workflow to log and set up your project. ( Never used it myself but I would consider/investigate  it for long form)
Good luck and enjoy the edit process.
