  • Step by step guide to create a RFC connection and data transfer

    hi
could i get a step by step guide to transfer/read data from SAP and legacy system using the concept of RFC.
    Regards
    Shiva

    hi
    Here are the steps.
SM59 Transaction is used for Connection Establishment with Destination.
When you establish a connection to a client through a destination, the HTTP connection must first be entered in transaction SM59.
There are two types of HTTP connection in transaction SM59: Call transaction SM59 to display the different RFC destinations.
The HTTP connection to the external server (connection type G) and the HTTP connection to the R/3 system (connection type H) are different only in their logon procedures. Their technical settings are the same. To display the technical settings, double-click a connection.
You can choose from three tabs. Under Technical Settings, you can specify the following:
    · Target Host: The host to which you want to connect.
Note that if you are using HTTPS as a protocol, you have to specify the full host name (with domain).
    · Service No.: Here, you specify the port. The destination host must of course be configured in such a way that the specified port “understands” the corresponding protocol (HTTP or HTTPS). See Parameterizing the ICM and the ICM Server Cache.
    · Path Prefix: At the time when the connection to this destination is initiated, the system inserts this sub-path before ~request_uri.
    · HTTP Proxy Options: Here, you can configure a proxy for HTTP connections: You can determine the proxy host and service, as well as users and passwords for the HTTP connection.
The tab page Logon/Security will be different depending on whether you have selected a HTTP connection to an external server (connection type G) or a HTTP connection to an R/3 system (connection type H).
HTTP Connection to an External Server (Connection Type G)
Choose the connection you want to use. You can choose from the following logon procedures:
    · No Logon: The server program does not request a user or password.
    · Basic Authentication: The server program requests a user and password. Basic Authentication is a standard HTTP method for authenticating users. When a user logs on to the target system, he or she provides a user ID and password as authentication. This information is then sent in a header variable as a Base 64-encoded string to the server, through the HTTP connection.
    · SSL Client Certificate: If you use client certificates for authentication, the client authentication is performed through the Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) protocol. In this case, you must also select the SSL Client PSE of the SAP Web AS that contains the relevant certificate for the authentication. The target system must handle the issuer of the SAP Web AS client certificate as a trusted system.
Under Logon/Security, you can also activate SSL to ensure that HTTPS is the protocol used (if you select SSL, make sure that the correct port is entered under Technical Settings). In the security transaction STRUST you can determine which type of SSL client is used. (Getting Started with the Trust Manager, Trust Manager).
The field Authorization for Destination has been implemented as an additional level of protection. We recommend that you specify a user and password for the RFC destination.
HTTP Connection to an R/3 System (Connection Type H)
Here, you can specify more settings for authentication in the target system.
The settings under Technical Settings and Special Options are the same as for connection type G. Under Logon/Security, the connection type H has additional logon procedures. As with external servers, you can activate and deactivate SSL and specify an authorization.
Because the target system is an SAP system, you can set the client and language for the logon as well as the user name and password. If you check Current User, you have to specify the password.
The following authentication procedures are available: Basic Authentication, SAP Standard, and SAP Trusted System, and SSL Client Certificate.
    · HTTP Basic Authentication: Logon with user and password
    · SAP Standard: This procedure uses an RFC logon procedure. The RFC Single Sign-On (SSO) procedure is valid within the one system. The same SAP user (client, language, and user name) is used for logon.
    · SAP Trusted System: Trusted RFC logon to a different SAP system (see Trusted System: Maintaining Trust Relationships Between SAP Systems)).
    · SSL Client Certificate: The SSL protocol enables you to use client certificates for the logon.
    Type G/H (SM59)
    Timeout:
When sending a HTTP request, you can use this parameter to specify the maximum response time for the connection.
    HTTP Setting:
You can use the HTTP version to specify the protocol version of the HTTP request (HTTP 1.0 or 1.1).
    Compression:
You can use this option to activate the gzip compression for the request body. This can only be activated in HTTP Version 1.1.
    Compressed Response:
In the standard setting, the SAP Web Application Server sends the Accept Encoding field as a header field with the value gzip, if the application server can handle this compression. This notifies the partner that the caller can handle gzip decompression, and that the partner can send compressed data. If you want to prevent a compressed response being sent, choose the option No.
    HTTP Cookie:
You can use this option to control the way received cookies are handled.
You can specify the following for cookies:
    · Accept them automatically
    · Reject them automatically
    · Accept or reject them in a prompt
    · Use a handler for the event IF_HTTP_CLIENT~EVENTKIND_HANDLE_COOKIE to process the cookies in the program.
    · In the next section, you can read about the parallelization of requests.

  • Help need for sending object over TCP Connection

    I have
    ResultSet rs = (ResultSet)connection.getObject(1)
and i have user's connection connected on a port
Currently i am reading while rs.next elements , preparing somestring and i am using socket_connection.send('to_myuser',somestring) to send message
and user receive it like (while input_stream.readLine() != null )
etc .etc.. i am just writing some algorithm which very common.
i want to reduce this recursion on the my server end and once user receive it , and to get all result set retrieved from that end.
my question is , is it possible to send
    connection.send('myuser',rs);
and how to read on the other end.
    Thanks in advance

Just want to clarify how we can cache it..? I belive
we have to put data somewher in the ArrayList or
something ....which one major taskOf course caching requires that you store it in something.
    >
second, you need a very good algorighm to query all
your collections ... i think oracle SQL mechanism is
very nice.... however in your recommended approach i
have to write lots of searching and sorting
alrogrthm... .correct?Generally no. Requests are usually limited to very few parameters and often limited only to one or zero. Thus a user first gets a list of customer names (no parameters for query) and then request the detail about a specific customer (using the customer id which is only one parameter.)
Note that you mentioned large amounts of data. You didn't specify what large meant. However large requests should never be allowed from users (people). They can't use it anyways. Automated processes should be architected to provide for a technological solution with is cost effective.

  • Connection steps for SAP BW and R/3

    Hi Every Body,
Can you please explain me detail about the connectivity between R/3 and BW.
General steps which am aware is as follws;-
SAP R/3 steps to be performed
    1.     Define Logical system---->(e.g ABC100)
    2.     Assign client to logical system -->(100)
    3.     Define RFC Destination.(Here I assume I have to give Destination user name and password should be the user which have SAP_ALL authorization) Am I right.
    SAP BW Steps:-
    4.     Define Logical system---->(e.g ABC100)
    5.     Assign client to logical system -->(100)
    6.     Define RFC Destination.(Here I assume I have to give Destination user name and password should be the user which have SAP_ALL authorization) Am I right.
Then in BW Environment in RSA1->Source Systems->right click and choose Create
There are two options available for R/3 system one is Manual and one is Automatic.
For Manual  creation we give RFC Destination should be BW system and Logical system should be R/3 and Source system name is xyz.
Is there any other steps am missing. What about the inbound and outbound Idoc Parameters.
I feel this will help while transferring data to BW.am I right.
Please clearly explain the steps for R/3 and BW connectivity.
    Regards,
    VJ

    Hi,
<i>For Manual creation we give RFC Destination should be BW system and Logical system should be R/3 and Source system name is xyz.</i>
RFC Destination should be R/3 system. NOT BW system.
    <i>should i make connection with only R/3 200(Data Client) to BW</i>
Yes you have to connect to 200 only. Not to 100.Other wise you will not get data from R/3 to BW.
<i>What is the Use of Transport Button in RSA6.Post Processing data sources.</i>
It will be used to create Trasnport requests on DS .
<i>Suppose if i activate data source from Customizing client(100)and click on Transport button in RSA6 if there is connection with this client to BW. What is the Impact.</i>
It will not give any impact on BW. Actually it ask you to create a Transport requset by Prompting the message box. After click on create button and entering the description, it will create a transport request.
<i>Clearly explain me in detail what happen when i choose Transport Button in RSA6 for BC data sources.</i>
It is must and should process. Because you will not activate(using of RSA5) the DS in quality R/3 system. So to use this DS in QA system, you will import the Transport request creatd in DEV r/3.
In your case, you will use client 100 for activating the DS and creating Transport reuests. And then these DS are automatically available in client 200, because DS are Client independent.

  • Creating logical/virtual connection object  from physical connection

Can anybody help me what is creating logical/virtual connection object and how to create it from physical connection in java ??
    Thanks in advance...

WHile you are waiting for an answer, you might want to review the related Oracle documentation:
For 10g, all docco is at http://www.oracle.com/pls/db102/portal.portal_db?selected=3 and docco I suspect will help you is "Java Developer's Guide" and "JDBC Developer's Guide and Reference"

  • Creating an Oracle connection in Net WCF using ODAC causes Exception

Why am I getting a 'System.TypeInitializationException' when I create an Oracle connection in my .Net WCF web service?
    =========================================================================
I'm currently working on implementing a WCF service which talks to an Oracle 10g database on the backend. When I attempt to connect to the database from within my service, I get the following exception: System.TypeInitializationException.
    •I'm running on a windows 7 (64 bit machine).
    •I'm using VS 2010.
•I'm using Oracle 10g on the backend.
I'm the Oracle.DataAccess.dll (ODP.Net) from the following installed instance
    c:\oracle\product\10.2.0\.....\ODP.NET\bin\1.x\Oracle.DataAccess.dll
•I've included this DLL in the references for my WCF service.
•I've included this service as a project within my VS WPF solution.
•The service starts up automatically when I start my WPF application in VS 2010.
At runtime I see the following output in my debug output window:
'WcfSvcHost.exe' (Managed (v4.0.30319)): Loaded 'C:\Windows\assembly\GAC\Oracle.DataAccess\1.102.2.20__89b483f429c47342\Oracle.DataAccess.dll' A first chance exception of type 'System.TypeInitializationException' occurred in Oracle.DataAccess.dll
Sure enough, I look at the exception details in the debugger and I see the following information (this occurs when I attempt to create a new ORACLE connection):
    "The type initializer for 'Oracle.DataAccess.Client.OracleConnection' threw an exception." InnerException {"The provider is not compatible with the version of Oracle client"} System.Exception {Oracle.DataAccess.Client.OracleException}
    A Little Background:
I'm basically migrating my data layer to a WCF service. The same service layer previously existed in a WinForm application. Everything works fine in my WinForm application. I include the same reference to the Oracle.DataAccess.dll and all my reads/writes with the database work fine.
Is there something obviously different between the WCF and WinForm access/use of the DLL? Is there some limitation I'm unaware of? Is there an issue running this through VS2010 in the debugger?
I have absolutely no idea what is going on here. Any hints/direction would be greatly appreciated.

It's certainly possible to install .NET 1.x on the machine while still using VS 2010, but MS does not support and most likely never tested this combination. Running .NET Framework 1.x on Windows 7 also is not supported. I didn't know you had successfully used this combination previously. Nonetheless, it's good to be on a supported combination that has been certified by MS and Oracle if you run into a problem.
I had another reason to ask you to upgrade to ODP.NET 11.2 As it will be the last version installed, ODP.NET's unmanaged DLLs will appear in your PATH first. The error you see is typical when ODP.NET from one version tries to use DLLs from another Oracle instance installed on your machine.
If that doesn't work, set the DllPath setting in your web.config file to the BIN directory of your newly installed Oracle Client. Here's an example of that:

  • Steps for creation of search help exit for a search help

    Hi,
I have created a search help. I need to create a search help exit for this search help.
Please let me know how to create a search help exit as well as how to link it to my search help.

1)Copy the FM F4IF_SHLP_EXIT_EXAMPLE to write your own FM. (check the documentation and coding of FM F4IF_SHLP_EXIT_EXAMPLE).
2)write your code depending upon the functionality you want.
3)attach the FM in search help through SE11 in "search help exit" field.
A search help exit is a function module for making the input help process described by the search help more flexible than possible with the standard version.
This function module must have the same interface as function module F4IF_SHLP_EXIT_EXAMPLE. The search help exit may also have further optional parameters (in particular any EXPORTING parameters).
A search help exit is called at certain timepoints in the input help process.
Note: The source text and long documentation of the above-specified function module (including the long documentation about the parameters) contain information about using search help exits.
Function modules are provided in the function library for operations that are frequently executed in search help exits. The names of these function modules begin with the prefix F4UT_. These function modules can either be used directly as search help exits or used within other search help exits. You can find precise instructions for use in the long documentation for the corresponding function module.
This module has been created as an example for the interface and design of Search help exits in Search help.
All the interface parameters defined here are mandatory for a function module to be used as a search help exit, because the calling program does not know which parameters are actually used internally.
A search help exit is called repeatedly in connection with several events during the F4 process. The relevant step of the process is passed on in the CALLCONTROL step. If the module is intended to perform only a few modifications before the step, CALLCONTROL-STEP should remain unchanged.
However, if the step is performed completely by the module, the following step must be returned in CALLCONTROL-STEP.
For more detailed information please refer to the documentation describing the concept of the search help exit.
The module must react with an immediate EXIT to all steps that it does not know or does not want to handle.

  • Steps for creating a SAP Remote cube.

    Hello Experts,
Can you anyone list the steps for creating a SAP Remote cube please?
Any step by step guide will be of really great help.
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Kumar.

Creating VirtualProviders Based on Data Transfer Processes Locate the document in its SAP Library structure
    Prerequisites
If you are using a DataSource as the source for a VirtualProvider, you have to allow direct access to this DataSource.
    Procedure:
           1.      In the Data Warehousing Workbench under Modeling, choose the InfoProvider tree.
           2.      In the context menu, choose Create VirtualProvider.
           3.      As the type, select VirtualProvider based on data transfer process for direct access.
In terms of compatibility, a VirtualProvider that is based on a data transfer process with direct access can also be connected to an SAP source system using a 3.x InfoSource.
The Unique Source System Assignment indicator controls whether this source system assignment needs to be unique. If the indicator is set, you can select a maximum of one source system in the assignment dialog. If the indicator is not set, you can select multiple source systems. In this case, the VirtualProvider acts like a MultiProvider.
If the indicator is not set, characteristic 0LOGSYS is automatically added to the VirtualProvider when it is created.  In the query, this characteristic allows you to select the source system dynamically: In each navigation step, the system only requests data from the assigned source systems whose logical system name fulfills the selection condition for characteristic 0LOGSYS.
           4.      Define the VirtualProvider by transferring the required InfoObjects. Activate the VirtualProvider.
           5.      In the context menu of the VirtualProvider, select Create Transformation. Define the transformation rules and activate them.
           6.      In the context menu of the VirtualProvider, select Create Data Transfer Process. DTP for Direct Access is the default value for the DTP type. Select the source for the VirtualProvider. Activate the data transfer process. See Structure linkCreating Data Transfer Process for Direct Accesss.
           7.      Activate direct access. In the context menu of the VirtualProvider, select Activate Direct Access. In the dialog box that appears, choose one or more data transfer processes and select This graphic is explained in the accompanying text Save Assignments.

  • Help needed for MySQL 5 database DSN less connection with Oracle reports

    Hi,
I am using Oracle Develper Suite and java (J2EE) for my application. I am using MySql 5 as database tool. I want to use Oracle reports of Oracle Develper suite. I have created some reports by first creating system DSN for MySql database and then connect Oracle reports to that DSN by "jdbc:odbc" connection string provided in Oracle Report developer wizard. This is working fine.
I want to generate reports without creating system DSN (DSN less) so that i can use my application on any computer without creating DSN for Oracle Reports. I am deploying my application on OC4j as "EAR" file.
Help in this regard will be highly appreciated.
    Regards.

Using an 8i client, you will need to configure the tnsnames.ora file with appropriate connection information if you are using local naming. If you are using host naming or something like an Oracle Names server to resolve TNS aliases, you can skip the tnsnames.ora configuration. A default installation of the Oracle client, though, will probably be using local naming.
If the tnsnames.ora file is configured, or you have configured an alternate way of resolving TNS aliases, you should be able to use the connection string
DRIVER={Oracle ODBC Driver};DBQ=<<TNS alias>>;UID=system;PWD=managerIf you wanted to move to the 10g client (the 10g Instant Client could be useful here), there are some streamlined naming methods that could be used instead of configuring the tnsnames.ora file.
