Help with Logic + Plug-ins-- Spinning Wheel of Death

I'm using Logic 9.1.8 with NI's Machine Mikro and a Focusrite 2i2.  All of the most recent drivers are installed and I had been using them both in Logic successfully for days until today.  Now every time I open Logic, the spinning wheel of death appears and will not go away, leading me to force quit.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.  I've tried erasing the Loop stuff in the Library folder as it has said on other boards.  Please .

Thanks for your help.  For whoever stumbles upon these postings and happens to have the exact problem is me.  I drug the Maschine.component out of the plug-ins folder and on to the desktop, trashed the original, and started Logic Pro.  I then went to preferences and made sure that Logic was opening an empty project at the time of launch.  Before, when the spinning wheel of death was coming up, it was automatically going to my last project and, I believe, getting tripped up on mounting Maschine.  Now everything works fine.

  • Help With SkillBuilders Plug-Ins Integration

    Hi All,
I have the following situation and I appreciate any help regarding to this (Apex Version 4.1.1.00.23):
I have a Page with the SB Calendar Plug-In, when the user clicks on the Create Event button, a modal page pop-ups with a form that allows the user to enter an event using the Schedule Plug-in. After created, the modal page closes and the calendar is refreshed with the event. This part works fine.
My problem is with the following situation: when clicking in an existing Event on the Calendar, I want to be able to open the same modal page with the Event Details to allow the user to modify it.
I tried defining a class in my Calendar query, and specified the URL with the Event Details Page; also, created a Dynamic Action to trigger when the class is clicked (Scope: live) and open the modal, but what it does instead:
    1. The Modal Page opens empty, and immediately
    2. The complete page is redirected to the Event Details Page with the information of the Event.I set up an example on apex.oracle.com:
    Workspace: EDIAZJORGE
    Username: TEST
    Password: test
    Application: 34925 - Schedule Event
    Again, I appreciate any help!
    Thank you and regards,
    Erick

    Erick,
When the anchor is clicked, its default action is executed, which is to redirect to the href.
You have bound a click handler to the div container of the anchor. This occurs, and you briefly see the modal start up before the page is redirected.
So, to fix this the default action on click of the anchor tag has to be prevented.
You can not specify something like this in the plugin however, and also not from the SQL. Neither can you adjust the dynamic action: adding a "Cancel Event" true action will not fix this.
I changed the "Edit Event Details" dynamic action jQuery selector from ".eventClicked" to ".eventClickedLink"
I added a dynamic action "Attach modal page edit to links", which is a "Page load" action. There is a true action which executes javascript:
    $(".eventClicked a").click(function(event){
    event.preventDefault();
}).addClass("eventClickedLink")This will prevent the default action on click of the anchor tag, which has the eventClicked class on page load, and then add the class eventClickedLink to it, which will allow the modal page dynamic action to react to it (it has to have the dynamic scope too, which it already had).
The class juggle is necessary. If you'd not use the class names and let the page load, then the modal page dynamic action will already have bound a click handler to the matched elements. Assigning another click handler at that point would have no result.

  • Help with Nik Plug-Ins

  • What can I do to stop Logic from crashing with my plug-ins??

    I'm running...
    Logic Pro v9.0.0
2Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo iMac
    2GB RAM
Native Instruments KOMPLETE 5 plugins (mainly Battery3 and Electrik Piano)
I have no problem with latency in audio recording and never even get crashes when using Logic plug-ins or running a lot of tracks at once.
But when I use the Native Instruments plug-ins and start turning some knobs on their interface, Logic quits without warning.
This isn''t all the time. But it does happen frequently, especially when running multiple plug-in instruments.
I can still get work done if I hit save all the time but it is getting more frustrating as my song grows larger.
Is there any sort of setting in Preferences that would help me with this?
I just ordered another GB of RAM. Do you think that will help at all?
What should I do? The KOMPLETE 5 instruments are too good to go without.
    Thanks.

I ran Activity Monitor while opening a few projects in Logic. And it seems that I only have about 560MB of RAM left to play with once the song loads. Before I open Logic I have about 1.5GB of RAM that is free. So yeah, I think this is the problem.
When I get my RAM in the mail, I'll try going plug-in crazy and see what happens. And then I'll post back here with the results for anyone that may be reading this in the future.
But thanks for letting me know about Activity Monitor. I learn something new about my mac everyday. God bless.

Macbook Pro (2011) froze while working, forced shut down, now won't turn on. Grey screen with apple logo and spinning wheel for hours. Help?
Unfortunately do not know the operating system since I never updated anything and I can't get in to it.
    Thanks for your assistance.

If you want to preserve the data on the boot drive, and it's not already backed up, you must try to back up now, before you do anything else. It may or may not be possible. If you don't care about the data, you can skip this step.
There are several ways to back up a Mac that is not fully functional. You need an external hard drive to hold the backup data.
    1. Boot from the Recovery partition or from a local Time Machine backup volume (option key at startup.) Launch Disk Utility and follow the instructions in this support article, under “Instructions for backing up to an external hard disk via Disk Utility.”
    2. If you have access to a working Mac, and both it and the non-working Mac have FireWire or Thunderbolt ports, boot the non-working Mac in target disk mode. Use the working Mac to copy the data to another drive. This technique won't work with USB, Ethernet, Wi-Fi, or Bluetooth.
    3. If the internal drive of the non-working Mac is user-replaceable, remove it and mount it in an external enclosure or drive dock. Use another Mac to copy the data.

  • Mac Book Pro constantly displays spinning wheel of death HELP!!!

My Mac Book Pro (after installing Mavericks) displays the spinning wheel of death multiple times per day. I thought it was my Google Chrome, but now it has been happening no matter what application I am using. I used Etrecheck to see what is going on with my computer, but I don't actually know what the output means. I've copied the information below.
More information: I no longer have a Blackberry, but I don't know how to remove any software that may still be on my computer (since I see Blackberry listed under Kernel Extensions). I also backed up my harddrive on the 28th, just to be safe.
I would greatly appreciate any and all help with this. I'm in the process of trying to study for mulitple teacher certification exams, so this is the worst possible time for tmy computer to suddenly go haywire. Thank you so much to anyone who takes the time to help!

    kmiddlet88,
yes, it could be due to nearly anything listed in your kernel extensions, startup items, launch daemons, launch agents, or user items above. Please check all of your installed third-party software to make sure that the versions which are installed on your MacBook Pro are compatible with Mavericks; uninstall every software package which isn’t Mavericks-compatible. After you’ve done that, boot into Safe mode, and see if you still get the beach ball of doom there. If it doesn’t appear there, restart normally and see if it appears then.

  • Macbook Pro 13-inch Late 2011 with constant Spinning Wheel of Death (SWOD)

    Hi Guys!
I really have a problem with the Spinning Wheel of Death and slow performance all the time. It suddently started after upgrading to OS X Mavericks.
These are the things i've tried so far:
    - Boot up in Safe Mode and Internet Recovery Mode to repair disc permissions and disc = No Errors found at all
    - Used SMARTreporter but everything returned as OK
    - Installed 16GB of ram installed
    - Looked in Activity Monitor, but everything appears to be okay with both RAM, CPU and HD
    - Boot with Apple Hardware Test = Everything OK
    - Booted up in Internet Recovery and erased the entire HD, clean installed OS X Lion (the OS i bought the Macbook Pro with)
First i thought it was a problem with my HD or my RAM. But everything is returning the OK result. I really hope some of you out there can help me, cause right now its realy hard to use it at the University. It looks like its a software problem, but i can't figure it out.

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
    Step 1
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account.
Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your personal files or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
*Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
    Step 2
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you boot, and again when you log in.
Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a Fusion Drive or a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal boot may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. It will be slow, but there should be no beachballing. Same problem?
After testing, reboot as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of Steps 1 and 2.

Can Logic plug ins remove background noise from interview?
A friend with an important interview recorded in noisy conditions has asked me to help remove background noise - never done this technically.
Is there a Logic or third party plug in that would could remove background noise from a spoken word interview? Have tried EQ which improves the sound slightly but not a solution.
Anyone with specialised knowledge of this sound editing operation?
    cheers
    MS

There are several 3rd party denoisers, they mostly work by first 'learning' the noise footprint of the audio, for which it is best to record a few seconds of silence (with an open mic).
These will all do a decent to excellent (it all depends on the source material) job:
    http://www.kvraudio.com/get/3199.html
    http://www.kvraudio.com/get/2104.html
    http://www.kvraudio.com/get/2791.html
    http://www.kvraudio.com/get/1182.html
    http://www.kvraudio.com/get/1029.html
    Addit:
Is it that background noise (traffic, talking etc) drowns out the words? Then you'd probably have more luck with (radical) eq-ing and/or notch filtering to find the most dominant frequency range of the speaker in relation to the background noise.
As an interviewer myself I will point out that even with a small disctaphone you need to have some awareness of how the microphone picks up things. As soon as you nead to lean towards whoever you're talking to, just to make sure you're audible, the dictaphone on the table is probably recording mainly ambient noise, the interview being part of that. This is especially a problem when interviewing in a busy public space.

Is there another way to adjust tempo of loops the faster way, any other technique?

No clue why the final processes have suddenly started to take so long. Two things I'd try: a) capture from an older tape to see if some problem with the new tape is at fault.  And b) check the health of your RAM and the hard drive.
The red frame sounds a bit like a glitch we used to have in OnLocation (actually in its predecessor HDV Rack) which was caused by a partial GOP. But that was a product of HDV Rack recording from the live video stream. It turned out that HDV cameras intentionally interrupt the data stream for an instant upon starting to record--specifically to avoid recording a partial GOP to tape. So my gut says that the tape has partial GOPs at the points where you stopped/started recording.

  • My Mac is lagging big and whenever I click on something it just goes to the spinning wheel of death I can't do anything I need help

Somebody help me My Mac is lagging big and whenever I click on something it just goes to the spinning wheel of death I can't do anything I need help

What model year Mac and what version of OS X are you running.
If this is on an older Mac with standard Rotating HDD it could be a sign the HDD is either to full of data or it is starting to fail. It could also be caused by 3rd party software you've installed.

  • Help! 27" iMac bought In 2009 has never gone a day without fighting spinning wheel of death

We bought this at the end of 2009, and ever since has had issues with getting the "beach ball" or spinning wheel of death anytime you click something new, try to open a file, or a program or any link, etc. It soins for about a minute then is good to go, but sometimes lasts longer and happens constantly! How can I fix this?! Its so annoying! I paid good money for this and my 6 year old MacBook Pro with Snow Leapord is blowing this one away! Here's the details:
    Model Name:     iMac
    Model Identifier:     iMac10,1
Processor Name:     Intel Core 2 Duo
    Processor Speed:     3.06 GHz
    Number Of Processors:     1
    Total Number Of Cores:     2
    L2 Cache:     3 MB
    Memory:     4 GB
    Bus Speed:     1.07 GHz
    Boot ROM Version:     IM101.00CC.B00
    SMC Version (system):     1.53f13
    Serial Number (system):     W8******5PE
    Hardware UUID:     0D367BAA-B1E9-537B-BEED-971531A63954
Then recently it did an update, restarted and is now asking for login credentials which we have never had set up...
    PLEASE HELP!

So you waited 4 years to report the issue, hard to have much compassion. I'd recommend by reading and using Activity Monitor to read System Memory and determine how much RAM is being used and also Spinning beach ball Troubleshooting. Finally when posting to a public forum DO NOT post private information such as serial numbers, addresses, phone numbers etc. I've asked the moderator to remove your SN info.

  • Spinning wheel of death when try to sync itunes with ipod

I've had no bother from syncing my ipod until today and then for no reason I now keep getting the spinning wheel of death.
When my ipod is connected and on auto sync mode it gets recognised, says it's syncing and then totally freezes. The only way to get out of this is to manually remove the ipod and force quit itunes.
I've tried starting itunes without auto sync on, which works ok until you decide to move any music content across. For some strange reason it was ok about transferring podcasts but just refuses to transfer music content.
I've uninstalled itunes 9 and reinstalled with no effect. I've restored the ipod to factory settings which all it's done is now cleaned the ipod of all content and won't transfer anything. I'm using a mac with OSX Snow Leopard.
    Can anyone help?

I think your problem is different to the OP's - in your case, did you check the format of the drive before you began using it? It's possible that it's formatted as NTFS or FAT32 out of the box, and you need to reformat to Macintosh Extended.
But this wouldn't apply to the OP's as he already had been using his drive for a while with no problems, although maybe permissions and/or ownership got scrambled.

  • Does Mountain Lion (10.8.4) come with SharePoint plug-ins, or did I just install these?

I did a custom installation of Microsoft Office 2011 for Mac on my MacBook Air running 10.8.4., but I changed my mind and decided to uninstall it.
I only installed Word, Excel, and Proofing Tools (English only).
I'm reading up on how to fully remove all the tidbits Microsoft sprinkled about, and I noticed a couple files on my system:
    /Library/Internet Plug-Ins/SharePointBrowserPlugin.plugin
    /Library/Internet Plug-Ins/SharePointWebKitPlugin.webplugin
I didn't include SharePoint in the installation, so I'm not sure that's where these files came from. It's a new machine, so the only alternative is that they were included with OS X 10.8.4, in which case I'm inclined to leave them be.
Does anybody know more about these files, where they likely came from?

AFAIK OS X 10.8.4 does not come with SharePoint plug-ins. Those are from Microsoft and are most likely added by SilverLight.
I am running OS X 10.10.1 and Office 14.4.6 and I do not have SilverLight installed... I do not have those two plug-ins you mention. Thus I don't believe Office for the Mac 2011 loaded them.
    Hope that helps

I had my iTunes set up to play music through my receiver & speakers upstairs. I have airport with RCA plug ins to my receiver auxiliary jacks. Homesharing is on & everything checks out but it no longer works. Any suggestions? I have no firewall & I have removed Smith clean program to fix this issue. I am running OS 10.8.2

I called AppleCare this morning and Sean helped me out in a huge way. In all of my attempts, I had not done a factory-default reset on the main base station and apparently some sort of endless loop had occurred between those two stations. Sean was very helpful and patient with me, but now the system is working as promised. Moral of this story is if a factory default rest doesn't help on the "problem" base station, try resetting all of the units.
