Help with the Parallel Model configuration
This is my first time posting, but I am a long time reader....
First off, I would consider my Teststand knowledge level as high novice to low intermidiate. I created a test sequence using in Teststand which calls labview vi's. My test sequence tests 5 units at a time in a parallel model (parallel model sequence). Functionally, everything runs great in single pass and looping. However, here is my issue:
When selecting "Test UUT's", it brings up a window that asks for the serial number for each of the five stations. The operator then needs to enter a serial number for each and press okay to proceed. This setup is not valid for what I am doing. My test fixture has a button at each of the 5 stations. The user is to push the button to start the test (connects to a DAQ). Then, the serial number is read from the UUT and populated in the report.
How would I go about reconfiguring this? I am not looking for someone to solve my problems for me, I just need a little direction. I looked at the parallel model sequence and I can't figure out where to go with it.
Please help,
Ryan

No problem Ryan,
When you are done here you will be a pro.
Here is a link that talks about callbacks and how overriding them works: http://zone.ni.com/devzone/cda/tut/p/id/6605
The PreUUT will be a Model Callback.
One thing I should point out- There is a huge difference between the Batch Model and the Parallel Model. People tend to get them confused and sometimes use the wrong when the other one is a better fit for their architecture. They way I think about it is like a race track. Each car on the track represents a different test socket. One time around the track represents a full test. Pretend the race is completed by teams of cars. Each team can only race one car for one lap (sorta like a relay). The team would represent the available test fixture for the next UUT and the car would be the UUT. Here's how the race would work with each model:
Batch Model- Let's say there are 2 available spots in the race so we have 2 teams of 5 cars each. Both of the teams 1st cars would line up at the starting line. The gun would go off and each car would take off. Let's say team 1's car gets around the lap first. Before they can start their 2nd car they have to wait for team 2's 1st car to get around the track as well. Then both team's 2nd cars would line up and continue the same as the first go around and so on until all 5 cars had raced.
Parallel Model- In the same car scenario as the Batch Model both of the team's 1st cars would line up and the gun would go off and they would go. However, this time if team 1's car gets around the track they can immediately send their second car without waiting for Team 2's 1st car. In fact all 5 of team 1's cars could be finished before team 2's 1st car even finishes it's lap.
Not sure if you are a fan of analogies but they work for me. In short-
Batch Model- Everything in that set of test sockets must start and stop at the same time.
Parallel Model- Each test socket is independant of any other test sockets.
I'm picturing your scenario where you have 5 different stations that will be running independantly of each other and trying to figure out if you would want the Batch behavior or the Parallel behavior. Or..... Why wouldn't you just use the sequential model on each station and deploy your sequence to each station? Maybe you can describe your setup in a little more detail and we could come up with a better solution.
How does the one station know that the others have the Go button pushed?

Could you help me to control a DC motor with the parallel port and windows 2000?
I have labview 5.1 and i want to control my application throught the internet
I would recommend upgrading to LabVIEW 7.0 for a couple of reasons. First, LabVIEW 6.1 introduced remote front panels which allows you to control a VI through a web browser. Setting up remote front panels is very simple and that alone is worth the upgrade. As far a using the parallel port you can use VISA to send/receive commands via the parellel port if you are using a motor controller with a parellel interface. If you are talking about using the port on a bit level to control the motor, LabVIEW 7.0 ships which an example of how to do basic digital input output with the parallel port.

Creating a custom UUT dialog for the parallel model
Hello,
I am attempting to customize the parallel process model in order to (amongst other things) present a different UUT info dialog. (The default one defined in modelsupport2.dll only presents a single "Serial number" field where I need numerous other ones.) Because I am not familiar with CVI (and don't have the development tools for it), I was hoping to create an ActiveX DLL in Visual Basic, or a .NET assembly to manage a slightly more complex version of the UUT info dialog... While I am sure it would be great fun to fumble with all the complexities of this until it shows some semblance of proper functionality I am hoping there may be some resources available online that would demonstrate how one would go about doing this kind of thing. I've seen LabVIEW code that provides a different UUT dialog, but it was based on the sequential model which circumvents the most complex issues such as synchronizing the dialog with the TestStand threads, etc. Any pointers would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!I am just posting this in case anyone else runs into the same sort of requirement. The attached zip file contains the source for a .NET assembly that is the beginnings of a VB .NET replacement for the parallel UUT dialog of the modelsupport2 DLL. I don't want to write an epic here, so the general idea is that the parallel model sequence is modified to make calls into this assembly instead of the modelsupport2.dll component. But you can't just disable the dialog by setting the ShowUUTDlg boolean to false - that will completely remove the consumer loop in the ProcessDialogRequests sequence which the .NET assembly is trying to send requests to. I've attached the modified ParallelModel.seq in case anyone's interested.
Note that there are still significant problems with this and it is provided as-is. In particular, if you attempt to break and step through the parallel model sequence after the dialog has been initialized, you will not be able to continue - the main thread will hang until you restart TestStand. With a little more thread mgmt, that could be fixed. If nothing else, it is useful code to look at if you need to enqueue items from a .NET assembly into a queue defined in a TestStand sequence.
If you can afford to use the existing dialog as-is, and then add additional info gathering to the main sequence, that is clearly easier. (That will be OK for my purposes so that is what I'll do.) However, if you need to have one custom dialog that manages everything in the parallel model, this is the kind of code you should expect to need.
Hopefully that helps somebody. There is not much info out there about integrating .NET at this level.

Uninstalling Software: The Basics
Most OS X applications are completely self-contained "packages" that can be uninstalled by simply dragging the application to the Trash. Applications may create preference files that are stored in the /Home/Library/Preferences/ folder. Although they do nothing once you delete the associated application, they do take up some disk space. If you want you can look for them in the above location and delete them, too.
Some applications may install an uninstaller program that can be used to remove the application. In some cases the uninstaller may be part of the application's installer, and is invoked by clicking on a Customize button that will appear during the install process.
Some applications may install components in the /Home/Library/Applications Support/ folder. You can also check there to see if the application has created a folder. You can also delete the folder that's in the Applications Support folder. Again, they don't do anything but take up disk space once the application is trashed.
Some applications may install a startupitem or a Log In item. Startupitems are usually installed in the /Library/StartupItems/ folder and less often in the /Home/Library/StartupItems/ folder. Log In Items are set in the Accounts preferences. Open System Preferences, click on the Accounts icon, then click on the LogIn Items tab. Locate the item in the list for the application you want to remove and click on the "-" button to delete it from the list.
Some software use startup daemons or agents that are a new feature of the OS. Look for them in /Library/LaunchAgents/ and /Library/LaunchDaemons/ or in /Home/Library/LaunchAgents/.
If an application installs any other files the best way to track them down is to do a Finder search using the application name or the developer name as the search term. Unfortunately Spotlight will not look in certain folders by default. You can modify Spotlight's behavior or use a third-party search utility, Easy Find, instead. Download Easy Find at VersionTracker or MacUpdate.
Some applications install a receipt in the /Library/Receipts/ folder. Usually with the same name as the program or the developer. The item generally has a ".pkg" extension. Be sure you also delete this item as some programs use it to determine if it's already installed.
There are many utilities that can uninstall applications. Here is a selection:
AppZapper
Automaton
Hazel
CleanApp
Yank
SuperPop
Uninstaller
Spring Cleaning
Look for them at VersionTracker or MacUpdate.

I want to replace one of my older Airport Extremes with the new model. Any tips?
I have 2 older airport extreems that are connected by a network cable. They share the same Netrwork ID.
I want to replace one of them with the new model as I want to use the old router on another project.
Any tips out there for a no-issue switch?
Should the newer and faster Extreme be connected to the Modem or does it nt make a didfference?
Thanksuse the new router as your primary router with the modem - this will be a factory install from the default configuration - as long as you use same network name password and type a password that you used for the express in bridge mode, you should be able to plug it in and have it work like before. just make sure that you configure everything individually and then power all devices down and repower each one individually starting with the modem then the router in the express and that should work

Hi, can anyone help with the problem I am having with pro book 4440s? I can't boot into windows 7, nor can I enter the bios cause i fogot the password. the error I am getting says "windows failed to start. a recenr hardware or software change might be the cause. it then gives me options to boot from a disc but I can't do that cause I am unable to get into the bios to change it to boot from a disc.
The error message goes on :
File: \Boot\BCD
Status: oxcoooooof
info: An error occurred while attempting to read the boot configuration.
the only two options on the screen are enter=continue and ECS=exit
I just can't get pass this screen.
Please help.
ThanksHi,
If you don't already have one, use another PC to create a Windows 7 Rescue CD. Download the relevant ISO from the links below.
Windows 7 32bit
Windows 7 64bit
You should use an application such as ImgBurn to burn the ISO to a CD - a guide on using ImgBurn to write an ISO to a disc is Here. Once created, or if you already have this, tap away at the esc key as you start the notebook to enter the Start-up Menu. Insert the Rescue CD. Select Boot options ( usually f9 ), use the arrow keys to select the CD/DVD drive and hit enter. You may also get a prompt to 'Press any key to continue' - do this if asked.
When loaded, select Repair Your Computer and choose the Command Prompt. When this loads, enter the following commands and hit enter after each one - include spaces as shown.
Bootrec.exe
bcdedit /export C:\BCD_Backup
c:
cd boot
attrib bcd -s -h -r
ren c:\boot\bcd bcd.old
bootrec /RebuildBcd
bootrec /fixmbr
bootrec /fixboot
Remove the Rescue CD and try rebooting the notebook.

I tried to go into Airport Utility to setup some features on my Airport Extreme N and could not find the device in the list. I have tried to rescan a good number of times, the soft, hard and factory resets, tried reinstalling the software and I have tried to connect to through my desktop via Ethernet. Actually, this is the configuration that I am using to write this post. I can also connect to the Airport Extreme via my iPhone4, which is the sole purpose I bought this thing.
Thanks in advance for the help.Trippe wrote:

Welcome to Apple's discussion groups.
I have tried to connect to through my desktop via Ethernet.
If you have a Mac, connecting it to a LAN port on the Extreme with an Ethernet cable should allow AirPort Utility to see the Extreme, presuming that's what you mean you did. (If you have a non-Mac system, there's probably a way to do something similar, but I can't help with the details.) If that's not working -

Help with the commapi for parallelport!!!!
If anyone could help me with this i will really appreciate it. I am trying to read and write from the parallel port (LPT1) but have been unable to do so. If anyone could post a code where the parallel port reads and writes to the port i would really greatful.
If there are any good links to places who show anything about commapi intefacing with the parallel port i would also appreciate it as all i find are serial port ones everywhere. (I want to use the parallel port in a applet as my laptop only has a parallle port and not a serial).
Thx to everyone who tries to help mehttp://java.sun.com/products/javacomm/javadocs/API_use
rs_guide.htmlI have reached a similar stage where I can detect the ports but cant read any signals from them. I have also read the above documentation and since this is the first time I have been attempting commapi programing, any further insight would be very helpful.
I am trying to read signals that are coming to a parallel port -
I just installed LV2011 and one dll from my vi won't load with the error "application configuration is incorrect", which is Windows lingo for "missing package dependencies". All the computers at my company with 2010 loaded seem to do OK. When I do a Dependencies Walk I get missing Visual C debug dll's missing plus IEshims and wer which both have a whole tree of dependencies missing on my machine. The Windows install is the same "Windows XP version 2002 Service Pack 3" on my PC and the working PC's. So I'm thinking I have to uninstall 2011 and go back to 2010. Is this correct? Those VC debug dll's were installed on the machines with 2010 in them but were not installed in mine.
I've heard the advice to recompile the dll with debug turned off but I don't have access to the source code.
Thanks in advance.u87 wrote:
Thanks for the reply. This at least tells me that going back to LV2010 is not likely to solve the problem. The missing dll's are:
MFC90D.dll
MSVCR90D.dll
IESHMS.dll
WER.dll
And, once again, IESHMS and WER have other dependencies. So perhaps i need to install the Visual C++ development environment.
IESHIMS.dll is an Internet Explorer DLL that gets usually delay loaded by shdocvw.dll. As delay load it can not cause DLL load errors but only runtime errors. Maybe your DLL has it as direct dependency but that is unlikely since it does not have a documented interface.
WER.dll is Windows error reporting for Vista/Win7.
MFC90D.dll is the Microsoft Foundation classes and MSVCR90D.dll is the MS C runtime library, both as debug variant.
So all the DLLs you mention are actually MS DLLs! You haven't identified the DLL that you try to access in LabVIEW that causes these error messages. IESHIMS and WER are usually delay loaded by any component that needs it and should not likely be used by non MS code.
What is the DLL you try to load into LabVIEW and by whom? Get the provider of that DLL to provide you a non Debug build of the DLL. Installing Visual C on all the machines just to make the DLL load is not a solution, besides that it is likely not legal since I doubt you have that many licenses.

it seems that you might have more success in the LabVIEW forum here; this one is for LabWindows/CVI... -

Hello John...
You may have a Safari third party add on installed that was compatible with the previous version of Safari but not 5.1. Try troubleshooting > Safari: Unsupported third-party add-ons may cause Safari to unexpectedly quit or have performance issues
FYI... this is a user to user forum. If you can't resolve the issue, information for contacting AppleCare here. -
Need some help with the colour profile please. Urgent! Thanks
Dear all, I need help with the colour profile of my photoshop CS6.
I've taken a photo with my Canon DSLR. When I opened the raw with ACDSee, the colour looks perfectly ok.
So I go ahead and open in photoshop. I did nothing to the photo. It still looks ok
Then I'm prompt the Embedded Profile Mismatch error. I go ahead and choose Discard the embedded profile option
And the colour started to get messed up.
And the output is a total diasater
Put the above photo side by side with the raw, the red has became crimson!!
So I tried the other option, Use the embedded profile
The whole picture turns yellowish in Photoshop's interface
And the output is just the same as the third option.
Could someone please guide me how to fix this? Thank you.I'm prompt the Embedded Profile Mismatch error. I go ahead and choose Discard the embedded profile option
always use the embedded profile when opening tagged images in Photoshop - at that point Photoshop will convert the source colors over to your monitor space correctly
if your colors are wrong at that point either your monitor profile is off, or your source colors are not what you think they are - if other apps are displaying correctly you most likely have either a defective monitor profile or source profile issues
windows calibrate link:
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Calibrate-your-display
for Photoshop to work properly, i recall you want to have "use my settings for this device" checked in Color Management> Device tab
you may want to download the PDI reference image to check your monitor and print workflows
and complete five easy steps to profile enlightenment in Photoshop
with your settings, monitor profile and source profiles sorted out it should be pretty easy to pinpoint the problem... -
