Help!!! XFi-2 loses or hides my music

Question

I got this player a few months ago. My first music transfer was a complete disaster - most artist files were empty, albums disappeared. Not having time to sit down and figure out the problem, I made do with what i could access. I finally got round to trying to reload the player yesterday. Gi'ven the mess when i tried to load lots of artists and albums at the same time, i decided to take it step by step, with and without the centrale software. It actually seemed worse without the software tho'. NB all these albums and artists and songs display correctly on my phone and my old MP3.
I loaded one artist with 2 albums, turned on the player and they were there. I added a second artist with one album. My previous artist disappeared although their 2 albums remained and the songs on those albums could be accessed in "all tracks". I added a 3rd artist with 3 albums. This artist appeared in the artist list but with only 2 albums. The songs could be found in various places. On other loading attemps with these 3 artists, one album turned into one song listed over and over and over again. The point is, the player can access the tags and display the information correctly but then loses it when i add in a second artist and third album. Pretty poor for a 6GB player!! It just seems to delete artists and/or albums or keep the artist but empty their folder.
Has anybody else had this problem? How did you solve it's

)the maximum length of file name is 255 in the window.
the file name consists of <diectory location>+<file name>+extention...
go to the tool menu in CENTRALE.
minimize the file folder name: Default is <almum name>...... it's realy long, you know
minimize the file name: default is track name.... some times It's terribly long because it's taken from website..
I set the fileme option to <none>_<none> to avoid reundancy.
Make it less than 28 character total. ( 256 bytes really contain 28 characters in a high level language.
I don't know why the creative lab doesn't mention this somewhere...
For all kind of missing track(actually not missing, it is under other folder name)
If you edit the track info(track titles ,album name and artist track # in CENTRALE), all those will show again..this is hassels.
Or remove the incomplete album and rip again.
