If you purchased an upgrade from LR5 to LR6 then after you enter your LR6 serial number, you will need to enter your LR5 serial number, unless LR6 finds LR5 on the computer. This also assumes that you've purchased the perpetual license of both LR5 and LR6, not a cloud license for LR5 which doesn't use a serial number for licensing. If entering a LR6 then LR5 serial number into LR6's serial-number area isn't working, then is there something special about the LR5 that would make it ineligible for an upgrade?

Yes it should work transferring PSE10 from Mac to Mac. There is a download link below for PSE10, which your friend could use. There is a formal licence transfer process but it’s not necessary for your friend to register the product (activation is sufficient) although he couldn’t benefit from future upgrade pricing without registration. Serial numbers typically can only be registered one time.
Boxed versions of PSE are normally multi-platform with disks for both Windows and Mac; so the serial number is the same. Downloads have tended to be single platform only although I believe the current version PSE12 will work on both Windows and Mac with the same serial number – boxed or download.

why can't i validate nor register my downloaded elements even tough i have a serial number from adobe store
I'm working on a 27" imac with os x 10.9.5
I bought elements 13 in the adobe online shop. Downloaded it and tried to install it. The moment i filled in the serial number (given by adobe) i got the message can not validate this number, try customer support.
I called but elements is not supported by phone they redirected me to the chat. I tried to times, but the chat is not available.
I tried to return my purchase, but for that you have to register and thats only possible when it is validated. So i bought a E 80,00 programm and can't use it.
Then i got to my account to see in my order history (some time ago i bought lightroom and elements 12). I saw my elements 13 order and when i clicked it i saw my serial number (witch is not working) but to my astonishment is saw a price of E 100,00. And the message that something is wrong with my order history and i should contact customer support.
On the internet i saw a lot of the same problems and i think dat adobe is not concerned at all. Just buy and thats that!!!!!

Can anyone help please?Sorry that you got such a hassle. Try this. I don't have Acrobat 9 per se, but I have the TCS2 and found the following.
Run Regedit (all the serious warning apply here. Look but don't touch).
Under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHNINE->SOFTWARE->Adobe->Repair->Adobe Acrobat->9.0->IOD Look under the entry under SERIAL.
Maybe it works maybe it doesn't. But it might help.

Serial number from device could mean it's been sitting in the warehouse for a year before he purchased it can't it?
It could, but all authorized dealers are required to report the sale date and serial number to Apple. That's how Apple knows when a device was sold to set the warranty date; the warranty starts on the day the authorized dealer sells the device to the user, not when the dealer receives the device from Apple.
How would they know his serial number from his device without registering it because I know all the serial numbers show up on my devices but like I said how would the serial number prove that he didn't purchase the device 6 months - 1 year after it left the warehouse or place of purchase.

They may, though usually they don't. But again, the user is not required to register the device with Apple to validate the warranty. In fact, in many countries it is illegal for any manufacturer to require registration before a warranty is honored. The proof of purchase is all that would ever be needed, and again if the device is take directly to Apple that's almost never required.

Wait a minute ...if someone would be selling the serial number online why would he/she would make it public so that anyone can use.
There are various keygen present online that can generate such kind of serial number but using them is stricly illegal.....without knowing the source it would be hard to tell.
You can try and get is touch with the "Jeff Wright" , he is a Adobe employee who actively participate in forums....He can check that serial number and can let you know , is it legit or not

How to activate licence after purchase and reception of serial number
I am still in the trial period and now bought the software. When entering the serial number after clicking on button for activation of the licence I get message serial number unknown. I registered the product on my account in the cloud with the same serial number and message I got was that the licence will be activated in half an hour. 45 minutes later and several reboots, still same problem. In one help page of Adobe, I read that no activation it required? In this case ahy I still get the pop up window with the number of days left and the invitation to activate?
