First, you don't have a 5+ year old 3GS. The 3GS has only been around for under 4 years. In fact, 5 years ago there were NO iPhones; the original iPhone (2 generations before the 3GS) came out on June 29, 2007 - not quite 5 years ago. The 3GS was released June 19, 2009.
That aside, you can sync multiple phones to one computer - see http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1495. boogeyman is wrong. It is 100% safe to create an additional user name on her computer, log in with that name, and back up the phone. See this for details on what you want to do: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2109

I have acrobat pro on my lap top and recently installed acrobat pro on my Mac Mini, but the text recognition function is not working, does anyone have any advice on how to remedy this problem?
On my laptop when I open up a pdf file and do a search for a particular
text phrase it prompts me to run a character analysis. Whereas on my mac
mini, when I try to engage the same process it just says it couldn't find
the phrase and doesn't even try and run a character analysis. I tried
clicking on the tool bar and the recognize text tab but nothing there seems
to do anything.
In trying to figure out the issue on my own I noticed one thing. I run a
small law firm in St. Louis and I scan in all my files to which are
subsequently emailed to my outlook account where I will save them as pdf's
to their respective folders. On my laptop when I open up an email from my
scanner I see the image of a acrobat document next to the attachment
paperclip symbol. However, when I open up the same email on my mac mini I
notice instead of an acrobat file image it shows a Preview file image (the
program used to open up pdf's before I installed acrobat).

Photos either do not arrive at all or arrive as an unrecognized file type, or sometimes go straight through. Apple support has been unable to resolve. Does anyone have any suggestions??? If you can not send from any of these devices then it has to be your e-mail service - the e-mail clients for OS X and for IOS 5 are totally different - the only common thread between all of these devices is your e-mail service

I have an iPod Touch 5th Generation with iOS 8.1, my home button is broken and I've been using AssistiveTouch for months now. Today I just locked my iPod and it wouldn't unlock again, it doesn't respond at all, it won't turn on. It was almost fully charged, so it's not the battery. I followed the steps from this thread, but I'm still getting the "USBMuxListenerCreate: No Error" message in CMD Prompt. I bought my iPod abroad and even though I do have the warranty, I've been told at the iStore that it's not valid here, so going to the store isn't really an option. Any ideas how to solve this?
Sorry, but without a working home button it is not possible to reset or restore your device. You should visit an Authorized Appel Service Provider or Apple Store to get it serviced. The warranty for an iPod is not limited to the country where it has been bought, check here: one-year limited warranty
Jailbraking the device will void the warranty.

Please can someone help a total technophobe?!!! I have recently set up a new mail account and since I've done that my wifi button has greyed out. My iPod updated by itself without a wifi connection. It told me to connect it to iTunes so I did and I updated the software and everything. After it was updated, my wifi button was greyed out and I don't know why. I sent it in to get fixed and the Apple store did NOTHING. I still have about 48 days left on my one year waranty and I don't know what to do to fix the problem. Please, does anyone know how to fix this issue without selling it or replacing it? I've tried all the troubleshooting techniques and nothing is working. Someone help.

restore your phone as new through itunes. if the issue persists after a factory restore via itunes, it means you've got a hardware issue and the phone needs to be repaired

I keep getting invalid signature when I try to downloand itunes 11.1. I have tried to just do a download and i have tried to change internet options to accept downloads without valid signature. but it still does not work. anyone have suggestions?
I just tested it (on 10.6.8) and it worked perfectly well, so it may be something on your computer. You could try creating a new user account on your Mac and using that to try downloading. You can then install on that account and it will be available on your normal one.

If you are having issues turning on Always Allow for cookies in Safari on your iPad, you may want to check to make sure that you don't have Private Browsing enabled, as noted in the following article:
