Hi USAGE OF PRT IN PS

Hi All,
PRT's are majorly used in PP, can anyone brief me where is it used in PS.

PRT in PS:
Unlike machines and fixed assets, production resources and tools (PRTs) are movable (not stationary) operating resources that are required to perform an activity and can be used repeatedly.  For example, PRTs include documents, engineering drawings, jigs and fixtures, and measurement instruments.
You can assign production resources/tools to internal and external activities.

    Dear Sir,
    Please suggest the process for the following;
    I am using a tool on press machine to manufacture the stampings. Number of stroke of the tool is equal to produced quantity of the stampings. Say a perticular tool can do 50000 strokes means 50000 stampings getting produced, in this case how user can get know that this perticulat tool has produced 45000 stampings, please initiate for the new toll procurement.
    How to map the production actiivity and entire cycle.

    Dear Chetan,
    The PRT usage can be traced by creating the PRT as an equipment PRT(for PRT category) and by using measuring document.

  • PRT- Maintenance Plan

    Hi Experts,
    Here is my Issue ,
    We have Created Maintenance plan for PRT Equipment - for that Measuring point in counter over readg 500 pieces and Annual Estimate also 500 pieces .our Maintenance Package is every 200 cycle.BY confirming the production order exceeds the 200 pieces, the maintenance order also created by measuring document, in this juncture my doubt is , how to maintain the tool life and we wants the tool life is max of 500 pieces only , after exceeding the production order qty 500 pieces , the system will not allow to make production order confermation for that PRT Equipment, what is the settings for that,?
    For Example a Planner m/c is Created by M- categary ( plant maintenance) , but the tool in which is used in planner m/c can be created  P- categary ( PRT) .       is it Right?
    Tool -life only for 500 pieces , in that how to set for Mainetanacec package? instead of 200 pieces,can we assign 500 pieces?
    ok If we set 500 in M.package  , mainetance plan will be created and say tool  is to be replaced, based on the plan we replace the tool and we instal new tool for the planner m/c. now can we create new PRT equipmnet- tool , for the planner m/c ? , For the new TOOL -PRT equipment , can we create new plan for that ? is it Right means what about old plan?

    As per ur requirment My understadnding is wirtten here-
    1. First off, Creat all Tools as PRT Equipment... because in this way only u can generate maintenance plan for them and can perform maintenance.
    2. For track of PRT Usage or Life u have to define a Measuring Point in PRT (Equipment). Whenever production order get confirm a measuring doucment will be posted...
    in the Measuring point u can see last entered measurement reading that will reflect usage of PRT.
    3. U have to assign a Maintenance Plan in PRT ( Equipment)
        When PRT Usage exeeds certain level..(after confirmation of production order) Maintenace call object would be generated and subsequent maintenance can be carried out.
    4. Besides all these we can not block usage of PRT in Production order.
    5. PRT Must be assigned in Routing ..other wise it won;t work.
    6. so prequesties for PRT Usage and Maintenance is
    create Measuring point and a Performance Based Maintenance Plan. and assign it in PRT(Equipment).
    7. in this case don't create PRT as a Material.
    If Still in Doubt please ask.

  • Actual Confirmation quantity of PRT w.r.t production order

    Dear All gurus,
    In master data the PRT quantity and usage value and respective formula has been maintained and for same when production order is creating the data is flowing properly, but in production order screen SAP provides Quantity/ Usage value, actual quantity/ actual usage value and remaining quantity/ usage value. How I can post some usage value by actual usage value will updated.

    Dear,
    Create PRT as equipemt then  assign PRT to Operation in the Routing or Tasklist at the time of assigning you can give the usage, according to ur PRT usage formula the usage of PRT gets calculated which you can see in the Routing/tasklist in Production or Maintenanace Order.
    When you are entering time ticket or confirming the qunatity the PRT is get utilised according to confirmed quanity that you can see in the actual usage in Routing.

    HI Kolla........
    PRT stands for Production Resource & Tools.......It means the marterial which assist in production activities..........e.g. Jigs and fixtures are PRTs as they help in production.........
    Counter is nothing but a Measuring Device which measures the usage of an equipment / material....e.g. Odometer in Vehicles is counter that reads the Kilometer covered by the vehicle.......
    PRT can be a material , an equipment or documents.......
    For Material PRT.........PRT tab has to be active........
    For Equipment PRT.......PRT tab has to be active as well as PRT Category should be used for Equipment....
    Calcualtion of Usage of PRT in Production leads to Attaching Counter to PRT & then assigning it to the Production Routing.........

  • PRT issues

    hi all,
    I have the following clarification regarding the usage of PRT.
    At my client, they manufacture PRT in Tool Room. Even though the tool is same and manufactured quantity is 5, they give five different nos to each tool. I hope this is not the std in SAP (PP). PP will create order and confirm. While doing MIGO serial numbers and equipment will get generated.
    My query is, my client is want to maintain the same no for PRT as equipment and as the FG material in Production Order.
    How this is possible, as we have to generate serial no to distinguish the identical tools.

    In OIS2 if you are activated the existing requirement then only both serial no, equipment no is smae for materail no . While the equipments movement (meterails movement) it carries the same no only possible thro serail no. (here sl no= equipment no).
    As per your requirement the above will be suitable.
    If your sl no profile  is not activated then while equipemnts movement serial can be created as automatically or manually as like you (ex: 1,2 etc)
    Basically serial no usage is for inventory for the equipements thro material no. Also this will be better use for tracking the movements for your equipments

    If you check u201CIE02u201D for any equipment, Production Resource / Tool (PRT) status is by default in Locked Positionu201D.
    This status controls the usage of PRT in the functional application i.e. planning and production.
    The status allows you to release production resource/tools for different tasks when maintaining master data.
    If it is released can be used in the task list or order.

    Hi,
    I've a question about the usage of PRTs. To be able to perform an analyses reagents are required. I'd like to have these materials stock managed. Is it possible to issue a PRT everytime I perform an analyses? And have the PRT stock managed?

    I just set up an inspection plan. I assigned a PRT to the first operation. In the prt details is set the quantity to 5. The PRT is a material created via MM01. I have 100kg of the PRT on stock. When i now perform an inspection i'd like to see that 5 kg of the PRT is used. So after the inspection i should have 95 KG of the PRT on stock.
    currently nothing happens. Did i forget anything or isn't this possible?

    HI gurus,
    I am facing a problem.For counter based Maintenance order scheduling-when I integrate Production order with Maintenance order by PRT, the order is generated after required number of usage for PRT but deadline monitoring and Scheduling of a individual maintenance plan takes more than 7 hours to execute.
    I am not in a condition to understand where the error is going on in the program as after a long time the required result of maintenance order is generated.
    Please Help me

    Hi team,
    Is there any function module to update class, Control key ,tasjklist usage in PRT tab , stock type,plant and storage location in serail data ta.

    The stock type,Plant and storage location on serial data screen are updated by Goods movement transactions automatically. I don't think there is a FMI to update the PRT values for Equipment or other objects.

  • Production resources/tools

    Dear gurus,
    Could you please help me with the following issue.
    There is a neccessity to use production resources/tools, because we have materials, that
    Firstly, are produced,
    Secondly, are used in production, but should not add value to it,
    Thirdly, have some durability, which is diminished during the usage of PRT,
    Forthly, are being repaired, and the durability is being restored.
    Plant maintenance is not implemented.
    I know from help, that it is possible to create PRT as a material, machine or a document and maintain in the rooting.
    Tell please, is it possible to create a material type FHMI (PRT) in order to:
    1. Produce it (not procure).
    2. Maintain "ST" a basic UoM for it, but also to maintain some durability for it somewhere.
    3. Maintain it in the rooting.
    4. During the production order confirmation, diminish the durability without diminishing the quantity.
    5. To issue this material to CO-order for repairs (without plant maintenance), when the durability reaches 0, and somehow to restore the durability for it.

    It's very common requirement in many implimentations. But unfortunatley SAP does't support that process in PP module. Only from PM module we can support that process.
    But there are many ways to map process by using small development.
    Eg.1 Delcared PRT as material master and assign it in BOM. And update a Z field in BOM depending on the number of production order qty. when it reaches zero we can trigger message!!.
    Any way you need CO order only for settlement. So you can always book cost for restoring the PRT to relevant cost object.
    Eg.2.
    Create other or doc PRT and assign it to a routing for a specific operation. And then trace that operation in the production order by a development and manage the life of PRT.

  • PRT With usage counter

    Hi Experts,
    My client is having a following requirement.
    We are using specific tools for a particular operation. After certain no of operations tool needs to be scrapped. How to map this process?
    Also we procure same tools from different suppliers and they differ in quality and hence their output is different
    (means same tool produced from supplier A will produce 20 parts and from the supplier B will produce 30 parts. They have differnt quality and cost but used for same operation) how to map this in SAP. How to set a life counter.
    Can I keep manual control over this? (Means say a tool gets worn out at say 18 instade of 20 ) can I keep a facility to replace.

    As the cost of that tool is different you need to create the different item code for the same.
    For PRT do the following steps.
    1. Create an counter to measure the usage with proper unit.
    2. assign PRT usage formula.
    3. assign measuring counter in PRT data in equipment master.
    4.Create measuring document for perticular counter number.
    For PP order do the following steps.
    1.Attach the PRT for in routing.
    2.Give the usage value and its unit of measure.
    3.System will pick up the PRT formulae automatically.
    As soon as you confirms the order system will generate the counter reading as per your input in usage value and PRT formula.
