Hi..while validating h:InputText tag with required="true"

<div class="new_campaign_block">
<div class="campaign_basic">
<h:outputLabel value="List Basic Details:" styleClass="headings" />
<s:validateAll>
<h:panelGrid columns="2" border="0">
<h:outputLabel for="listname" value="List Name: (*)" styleClass="wizard"/>
<h:inputText id="listname" value="#{lists.name}" required="true"/>
am validating using required="true" and i modified the messages.properties file as
so its validating if i didnt enter the listname like this-- "wizard_form:j_id1248:listname:should not be empty"
but i want the validation o/p like this "listname should not be empty" . is there any way to eliminate the
"wizard_form:j_id1248:" this part in the o/p validation. Or any way to display validation messages as our wish.
please .. ur suggestions are most valuable.

I am facing same problem, can u help me.
I have put command button which proceeds to next page and when product type is not selected, even though it calls the bean method and proceeds to next page!!! I tried all possible combination.
Here I have two queries
1) what possible reason for required tag not to work?
2) if I am checking that product type is not selected in bean method, how to reflect this to jsf and it will shows the message like 'validaiton error : value is required or something similar...

  • Problem with required="true"

    Hi,
    If I set required="true" for an inputText, then if I click the return button without filling in this inputText , I can't return because the field must be filled!!!!
    Does someone have an idee about resolving that?
    Thanks

    Set immediate="true" on your return button.
    Note: This will skip ALL component validation. Which is probably what you want anyways.

    .  I have Adobe Actobat 7.0 Standard for quite a while, and I'm happy with it. I use it for mainly filings at the federal court.  They require PDF.  I use two computers in two different states for work.  I realize my Adobe 7.1 is a few years old, but sometimes I have difficulty using it with the other days downloading a boarding pass, and e filing at the USDC. .  There's a problem with Adobe Flash, media, etc.  and other Adobe programs, (which I use for downloading boarding passes for airlines, etc.) so basically I have to delete these other Adobe programs, besides the Adobe Acrobat 7.0 Standard if I want to 7.0 Standard to work.  I periodically download the updates, but there's still a problem. My question is:  Can or should I purchase another program to update the present Adobe Acrobat 7.0 standard, or just buy a new program such as the Adobe 11?  Am I mistakenly doing something wrong, such as when I download?  I'm an old valued customer so I don't want to spend a lot of money since I am replacing my Dell XP for a new computer now, and my other computer is a Dell Vista.
    I'd appreciate your valued advice.

    If you are getting a new computer (for a PC it would have Win 7 or 8), then you will need to purchase XI if you wish to continue using Acrobat. Acrobat 7 is not compatible with these systems (and probably the same for MAC systems), though sometimes workarounds are possible, though not easy to use. I guess the answer is to buy the new version. Try http://www.adobe.com/products/catalog/software._sl_id-contentfilter_sl_catalog_sl_software _sl_mostpopular.html, click on the Buy for Acrobat, and then select the version you want.

  • Error message for required inputText components with no label

    I'm using JDev/ADF 10.1.3 (but I suppose that an answer for 11g would still be the right answer.)
    I'm creating a panelForm (or in 11g it would be a panelFormLayout) with a line for City, State, Zip, all required fields. Here is the code:
    <af:panelLabelAndMessage label="#{res.cityStateZip_label}">
       <af:panelGroup layout="horizontal">
          <af:inputText value="#{backing_facilityUpdate.city}"
                              columns="30" maximumLength="30"
                              required="true"
                               requiredMessageDetail="#{res.requiredMessage}"
                               tip="#{res.city_label}"/>
          <af:inputText value="#{backing_facilityUpdate.state}"
                              columns="2" maximumLength="2" required="true"
                              requiredMessageDetail="#{res.requiredMessage}"
                              tip="#{res.state_label}"/>
          <af:inputText value="#{backing_facilityUpdate.zip}"
                               columns="10" maximumLength="10" required="true"
                               requiredMessageDetail="#{res.requiredMessage}"
                               tip="#{res.zipCode_label}">
              <af:validateRegExp pattern="^\d{5}(-\d{4})?$"
                                         noMatchMessageDetail="#{res.zip_invalidMessage}"/>
           </af:inputText>
       </af:panelGroup>
    </af:panelLabelAndMessage>This gives me the appearance I want. But because there is no "label" attribute on the three inputText components, when a user doesn't fill them in, the error message shows the requiredMessage from the resource bundle, with just a dash - no identification of the field. I tried setting "shortDesc" - doesn't help. The "tip" doesn't do it.
    Is there a way to identify which field was not filled in without setting the "label" attribute, or a way to set the label attribute, but not display the label except in the message?

    Thanks - adding the labels with simple=true works in 10g as in 11g. This makes it ignore my "tip" attributes, but I can live with that. I added some spacing so I think people can tell which fields get City, State, and Zip even without the tips. I suppose I could add a line of outputText components under the line, but getting them spaced properly might be a problem. No, I'll live with what I've got.
    Thanks.

  • InputText loosing value after setting required="true"

    Hi Folks,
    'myBean' is request scope bean.
    I have a problem here with the inputText tag
    in edit.jsp
    <h:inputText value="#{myBean.name}" id="name" required="true"/>
    <h:message for="name"/>
    When i click the 'Update' CommandLink without entering the value in the text field, i see a validation error message. After this when i go back to the old page from my menu and comes back to edit.jsp i see no value in the text field. i can print the value by using outputText like
    <h:outputText value="#{myBean.name}" id="outputname">
    Why is the value getting lost in inputText?
    Any help appreciated.
    Thanks a bunch.
    Regards,
    Sreedhar

    the error msg was expected behaviour, when i did not enter any thing in the text. The page was redisplayed with validation error when nothing was entered in the text field. After that when i come back to the edit page for different set of result i see nothing in the name text field. The page is not rendering text field name. Where as when i try to print the value by using outputText i could see the value.
    I am wondering why inputText is not rendering the valueand why outputText can render the same value

  • Error VLD-1108 while validating the mapping in owb 11g

    Hi All,
    I am using owb 11.1.0.7.0. I am new to owb 11g. I am getting the following error while validating the mapping
    error: VLD-1108 . Operator requires more input or output connections in order to generate mapping code.
    I am using a function as operator and mapping it with the table.
    Please tell me the solution for this. Its urgent
    Thanks in advance,
    Siva

    Hi,
    u must be using a procedure or table function that is called in the mapping for execution. When writing the function u would have specified 3 inputs but in the mapping u would have given only 2. check the number of inputs and make sure they match.

  • Error While Configuring the Shared Service with Active Directory

    Hi All,
    I am getting a error while configuring MSAD with Shared Service, when entering the User Id and password and clicking next, the following error is displayed:
    "EPMCSS-05180:Failed to validate Security configuration. Failed to connect. Invalid values for Base DN, User DN or Password. Enter valid value(s). Root Cause : [LDAP: error code 49 - 80090308: LdapErr: DSID-0C0903A9, comment: AcceptSecurityContext error, data 52e, v1db1]"
    The AD user has the read access to the all users and group in Active Directory. If I use an Active Directory user with Admin privilege, It is getting connected.
    But client is not ready to provide the Admin Access due to their internal policy and I also don't have any document which says admin privilege is required. According to the document,the user should have the following privileges only.
    "The distinguished name of the user that Shared Services should use to bind with the user directory. This user must have search privilege on the RDN attribute within the DN. For example, in the dn: cn=John Doe, ou=people, dc=myCompany, dc=com, the bind user should have search access to the cn attribute.Special characters in User DN must be specified using escape characters. See “Using Special Characters” on page 46 for restrictions.
    Example: cn=admin,dc=myCompany,dc=com
    But I am getting confused with the statement "This user must have search privilege on the RDN attribute within the DN". Is it not search privillege?
    Can anybody help me with required privilege for Active Directory user to configure with Shared Service.
    Thanks in Advance,
    Sunil

    Thank you All,
    i tried connecting using AD Browser from Microsoft, and it went in properly. then i found out that the AD Team here were giving a Wrong Credentials to connect, they Gave me HYP_OID which infact turned out to be a Principal name instead of a 'cn'.
    after searching in the AD Browser i found the correct cn which is "Hyperion OID", then it went to the second Screen where now i am trying to search for the Users based on thier Job Nature.

  • Validation error for tag cfloop

    Hi All,
    Complete newbie to CF here.  I've inherited (or bought) an online business which has its site written in CF.  I haven't done this sort of stuff before but do work SQL for a living and object oriented stuff plus have done a bit of html and php so CF isn't mind blowing to me (in its simple form).
    I've downloaded my site on to my computer to run a local copy that I can hack to pieces if needs be.  For some reason, I have a few problems with the site running locally.  The first error I'm getting is a Attribute validation error for tag cfloop.
    Basically, index.cfm has this bit of code in it:
    <cfinvoke component="#datasets#" method="storedProcedure" returnvariable="getFeaturedWineries_qry">
        <cfinvokeargument name="storedProcedure" value="usp_GetFeaturedWineries">
    </cfinvoke>
    Ok, easy enough.  Anyway, there's a call down the page to:
    <cfinclude template = "#REQUEST.CFMPath#includes/displayFeaturedWineries.cfm">
    Within displayFeaturedWineries.cfm is the code that calls the stored proc invoked above:
    <cfloop query="getFeaturedWineries_qry" startrow="1" endrow="2">
    Bam, that's where the error occurs.  "The value of the attribute query, which is currently getFeaturedWineries_qry, is invalid.
    What???  The stored proc exists and it only returns two records (which begs me to wonder why you would have startrow and endrow but anyway, it doesn't work with or without it).
    The other interesting thing is that this works on production, NO PROBLEM!!!  WTF?  How can it work on production but not locally.
    The only thing I'm starting to think is:
    a)  I've missed a setting somewhere in CF or
    b)  I'm running Apache as compared to IIS or
    c)  I'm running SQL 2008 and CF 9 which will no doubt be different to the production host server.
    Should B or C be causing THAT type of problem??
    Thanks,
    Matt

    I'm not sure what code apart from the above is going to show you what you could possibly need to solve this, but here goes.  The following is only snippets of the code, but they are the relavant snippets.  Other stored procs work.  The cfdump for getFeaturedWineries_qry shows 'usp_getFeaturedWineries'.  I know its there because I've been unable to run "EXEC usp_getFeaturedWineries" after copying it straight out of the code.  As previously stated, there are other stored procs which are running fine.

    Thanks

    What's on lines 1-7 of that file?
    That code compiles fine for me on CF8 & CF9, so that's not where the error is.
    You're not trying to compile it on any earlier version of CF than CF8 are you?  The < and ++ operators are not valid prior to CF8.  CFMX7 might see the < as a stray angle bracket, and get confused.  I don't have CFMX7 running here to test the exact error that would produce, sorry.

  • Struggling on h:inputText tag for date type property

    I am struggling to display a simple form which is attached to a bean having a Date type property.
    I get the following exception each time I try to access the form, even it does not display as a blank form for the first time access.
    Exception:
    [#|2008-01-04T14:39:13.500+0530|SEVERE|sun-appserver-pe9.0|javax.enterprise.system.container.web|_ThreadID=12;_ThreadName=httpWorkerThread-3031-1;_RequestID=676ba2b1-9b5e-4a96-adb5-b1a792507b40;|StandardWrapperValve[jsp]: Servlet.service() for servlet jsp threw exception

    javax.servlet.ServletException: Error performing conversion of value ' of type class java.lang.String to type class java.util.Date for managed bean userBean.The JSP page contains the following tag for the inputText
                <h:inputText value="#{userBean.dob}" id="dob" required="true">
                    <f:convertDateTime pattern="MM/dd/yyyy" />
                </h:inputText>
                <h:message for="dob" />I want to display a blank form with all the text fields blank.
    Any help will be much appreciated.

    You should be able to do
       <h:inputText value="#{bean.lastDate}"/>Where 'bean' is the managed bean name containing
    the method getLastDate().
    When the view is rendered, the getter (getLastDate())
    will be called to display whatever value is returned.

  • Errors while validating after import

    Hi
    In FDQM, i have give the source and targets for mapping of a custom dimension.
    One of the source is getting calculated using FDM scripts as based on the data, it generates the metadata member at source.
    I can see a proper import happening and the script generating the required result.
    But while validating it shows an error. Even though the member is present in MAPS, it shows it as unmapped.
    If i use the "FIX" option in validation, i still end up getting the same error message (in addition the dimension member field now shows some additional characters!)
    Any one has faced this issue with FDM before?
    RegardS

    Hi,
    It seems you are using Logic Accounts to create the new metadata member. Should this be the case, then it may be worth checking whether you are mapping the name of the logic account itslef or the newly created members.

  • Struts 2 validation for HTML tags

    Hi,
    I am doing Struts2 validation with validation.xml for HTML tags. Here i am doing a binding between a form (bean) and the respective field in JSP and validation.xml. The validation error messages are populated without any problem but the value entered in the respective text field for HTML tags is not persisted. This problem does not occur if you use Struts 2 tags in JSP. Here is a snippet of what i am doing:-
    JSP:-
    <input:text name="accountForm.firstName" size="12" maxlength="20" />
    Action:-
    class AccountAction {
    private AccountForm accountForm;
    public void setAccountForm (AccountForm accountForm) {
    this. accountForm = accountForm;
    public String insertAccount () throws ApplicationException {
    // To get the account details from the JSP
    String first Name = accountForm.getFirstName ();
    action-validation.xml:-
    <validators>
    <field name="accountBean.firstName">
    <field-validator type="requiredstring">
    <param name="trim">true</param>
    <message> First Name is required.</message>
    </field-validator>
    </field>
    <validators>
    Whether it is possible to persist the value with HTML tags with Struts 2 validation? or i need to go with Struts 2 tags in JSP. Please shed some light in to it.
    Thanks,
    JavaCrazyLover

    FYI
    I am using spring framework with struts2 UI
    ..pls
    do the needful..
    Thanks in advance

    Hi,
    In the HTTP Receiver what is the Addressing Type used ? (URL Address or HTTP Destination).
    If its URL Addressing Type, check if right Authentication Type is used with valid values and for HTTP Addressing Type check this HTTP Client Create Error, it could be helpful.
    Also check if the Target system can be reached from the XI server to validate the configuration parameters.
