Hierachical Prompts - Retrieve Entire LOV

Hi,
After looking through the various SAP documents and playing with the RESTful web services API, it seems that you cannot retrieve the entire hierarchy without making a substantial number of calls. Is it possible to retrieve the entire hierarchy in a single call or only a few calls (one for each level)? I had no luck trying to submit multiple paths in a single request and unless the response changes, it does not look like the response would distinguish between the multiple paths with the returned values.
Thanks

Played around with that for a while about a month ago and the only way I could do it was via a number of calls. No one single call that I could find - just experimenting or using the help files.

  • Retrieving entire path of metadata column

    To emulate document permissions based on metadata, I'm trying to create my own document routing logic through a workflow retrieving the value from a metadata column and moving the file to the appropriate folder. It works fine except for the fact that I'm
    using a hierarchical term set for my metadata so I need the folder system to be two levels deep. Therefore I need to retrieve the full path for the metadata term. But I haven't found a way to do it!
    If I have a document tagged Economics:Reports I need it to be moved to the Reports folder inside of the Economics folder, but I can only retrieve the term name "Reports". I've tried using the "TaxonomyHiddenList" and the Rest API, but
    I guess I'm too ignorant to understand how to do it.
    Can anyone please help me out or guide me if there is another way to solve it?

    Hi,
    How you are fetching info? and what is the display format of taxonomy field you are using?
    i.e have you set taxonomy column setting to "display the entire path to the term in the field".?
    Refer following link to set this option:

  • Prompt's customized LOV is not pre-selected when webi report is refreshed

    BO XI R 2 SP 1
    DB: Oracle10g
    Hi - I have customized LOV in every dimension and it's value is '*All'....it appears at the top of LOV values in the prompt list.
    When I open the report, it shows the *All is already selected; but when I refresh this report using 'Refresh Data'; everythings comes up fine but *All no longer shows up as pre-selected value.
    Is there a way to handle this situation? Please let me know if you need more explanation.
    Note that when I hit the save button; report comes back with all '*All' pre-selected in all prompts.

    I don't know how to access the document you mentioned...
    anyway, to display All as customized value; edit the dimension's SQL and add
    UNION
    SELECT 'All' FROM DUAL (for oracle)
    SELECT 'All' FROM anytablename (for SQL Server)
    select the checkbox not to generate SQL and then click Run...click Display and then you should be able to see All as one of your custom value.

  • Retrieve entire before update row image

    I am attempting to capture the entire row in a goldengate trail file with an ascii text file format. I am able to extract my captured changes to a flat file with use of the formatascii option in the extract parameter file. I am able to get some of the before image values for columns referenced in the update by using getupdatebefores. However, I would like to see before images for all columns in the row, not just those columns that updated.
    A sample:
    sjb_ext.prm:
    extract sjb_ext
    userid ggs_user, password ggs_pass
    tranlogoptions excludeuser ggs_iccon
    statoptions, reportfetch
    cachemgr cachesize 50MB
    formatascii, sqlloader
    exttrail /ggs_trail/sb
    wildcardresolve dynamic
    getupdatebefores
    table sjb.my_table;
    from sqlplus:
    create table sjb.my_table
    (col_a number not null,
    col_b varchar2(1) not null,
    col_c date not null
    alter table sjb.my_table add constraint my_table_pk primary key(col_a);
    insert into sjb.my_table (1,'A',to_date('01-JAN-2010'));
    commit;
    in sb000000:
    IAN1 NAN2010-01-01:00:00:00
    sqlplus:
    update sjb.my_table set col_b = 'E' where col_a = 1;
    commit;
    in sb000000:
    VBN1 NA
    VAN1 NE
    I only get the fields which the update statement itself manipulated plus the primary key fields. As default behavior, this makes perfect sense to me. However, I'd like to get the before images for all columns on an update, not just the columns affected by the update statement. How can I configure my extract to retrieve the before images for all columns in the update statement?
    desire trail file output:
    VBN1 NEN2010-01-01:00:00:00
    VAN1 NEN2010-01-01:00:00:00

    Hi,
    I just want to add that instead of adding supplemental logging you can set it to be add automatically with each TABLE statement like this:
    TABLE <schema>.<table>, FETCHCOLS (*);
    for all columns
    or
    TABLE <schema>.<table>, FETCHCOLS (COL1,COL2...);
    for just desired columns

  • Custom LOV or How to selct a Employe and their Dept is passed into a prompt

    I have been given a change request to enhance an existing Webi report built over a universe with a BEx query as the source.
    Currently they are prompted to enter an "employee name" but they now want to select the employee name but the result set to come back for the complete data set for they department they work in.  For example select Andrew and the data for all employees in the consulting dept to be returned.
    In old school BOBJ a work around was to put the prompt on the department name and amend the LOV to show 2 columns, Dept Name and Employee Name. So the users would scan down the list of employees ( column 2 in the LOV) and select them which would in fact select the department name and pass that back to the query to restrict the data set.
    Is there any work around or thought you can suggest to help out in the new world of a universe over BEx ?

    Hi,
    Sound like something that is easier implemented in the BEX query with a user exit variable.
    Ask your BW developers if you want to know more...
    Another option is to (ab)use the hierarchical display of prompts;
    create an LOV object for department with a built in (XMLfilter) condition on employee (use the normal employee LOV).
    set the LOV to use hierachical display.
    create a custom (XML) filter for department and point to the LOV for this prompt to the new LOV object for department.
    (hide the LOV object from the end-user...)
    What that should give you is a list of employees with a plus sign in front.
    Clicking on the plus will show the department.
    This they can select...
    Hope this helps,
    Marianne

  • How to populate LOV of one prompt based on other prompts w/o cascade

    Hello All,
    Scenario- There are three prompts in my report.
    Source_Prompt1, Source_Prompt2 and Target_Prompt.
    There is no direct reletion between Source_Prompt1 and Source_Prompt2.
    And user wants Target_Prompt data on selection of these source_prompts.
    Is there any way to populate target prompt on selection of source prompt.
    Note- This can be implemented by applying cascading between all three prompts fields.
    However user dosent want Cascading between source prompts.?
    is there any other method except cascading prompt to populate LOV of one prompt based on selection of other prompt values?
    Your insights are most welcome.
    Amit

    I believe the only way to populate LOVs is directly from a database. E.g.; you can not populate it "manually". In your case, you may have to create your own prompt forms and use those.

  • Problem using prompt in BO Explorer

    I'm using BOBJ XI 3.1 Explorer and during the validation of a new Information Spaces, with prompts, this message appears:
    The prompts module failed to initialize
    Request timed out
    My universe is already created without checks in Controls panel, so the problem is not related to query or row limits.
    Can anybody help me?
    thanks

    Dear Roberto,
    the problem you are facing may be because the object specified in your prompt (perhaps a LOV) takes longer than 1 minute to be retrieved hence Explorer will throw a times out error.
    If you create the same query within a WebIntelligence report, how long does it take to display?
    You can increase the timeout in the default settings (default is set to 60 seconds):
    C:\Program Files\Business Objects\Tomcat55\webapps\polestar\WEB-INF\classes\default.settings.properties
    request.timeout=60
    Hope this info help.

  • Error using CR 11.5 with dynamic cascading prompts and SAP Integr.Kit XI R2

    Hi,
    we are using the SAP Integration Kit XI R2 (patched up to FP4.3) in order to report SAP BW data (BW 3.5) in Crystal Reports 11.5 (SP 4). In order to access the stored BEx Queries we use either the SAP BW Query or the SAP BW MDX Query Driver (_we DO NOT use any universes_). Everything seems to work fine ex cept when we want to use dynamic cascading LOVs within CR. For example when a user runs a report she/he should select first a customer group (0CUST_GROUP prompt) and then the customer (0DEBITOR). Defining the cascading prompts with dynamic LOVs is no problem in CR and when the report runs (either in CR Designer or in InfoView) both prompts appear. Still when we do a selection for the first prompt (0CUST_GROUP) we get a 0x8004380D error with the text message stating that the system is not able to retrieve the LOV data (I guess for the 0DEBITOR prompt). Please note that we do not get a corba error and no firewalls are activated. We checked the trace files of the page server and found out that there was an error calling the createRowsetCursor function within enginekernel.cpp.
    Any hints on our case will be mostly appreciated. We have the feeling that we are hitting a bug here but maybe we are overseeing something.
    Cheers
    Stratos
    PS: Please note that if we access directly the ODS Object (SAP ODS driver) the dynamic cascading prompts on exactly the same InfoObject (or better their keys in the ODS) work without a problem.

    Hi Stratos
    You can define LOV's in universes but unfortunately you can not use universes based on SAP in Crystal Reports.
    You can define parameters in the Bex query which are passed on to Crystal Reports, so you don't need to define them in the Business Objects tools. Please have a look at the SAP Integration Kit user's guide

  • How to update bind variable and restrict values in a Model Driven LOV?

    Hi Guys,
    Using JDev 11.1.1.2.0
    I've recreated an excellent Frank Nimphius article about restricting values derived from a model driven LOV (http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/developer-tools/adf/learnmore/44-restrict-lov-169186.pdf)
    But my bind variable isn't updating. Deleting the bind variable gets me the entire LOV. Activate the code below and insert a bind variable into the where clause like Frank says and I get nothing back. Bind variable is blank. Any ideas? Code wasn't supplied with the article. It seems simple enough but the bind variable isn't updating in the SQL, even though the updated value shows up here...
      public void onLovLaunch(LaunchPopupEvent launchPopupEvent)
        BindingContext bctx = BindingContext.getCurrent();
        BindingContainer bindings = bctx.getCurrentBindingsEntry();
        FacesCtrlLOVBinding lov = (FacesCtrlLOVBinding)bindings.get("DepartmentId");
        lov.getListIterBinding().getViewObject().setNamedWhereClauseParam("deptId","60");
        System.out.println("lov name: " + lov.getName().toString());
        System.out.println("lov Param Attrs: " + lov.getListIterBinding().getViewObject().getNamedWhereClauseParams().getAttribute("deptId").toString());
        System.out.println("lov View Object: " + lov.getListIterBinding().getViewObject().getName().toString());
        System.out.println("lov IterBinding: " + lov.getListIterBinding().getName().toString());
       }Gets me ...
    lov name: DepartmentId
    lov Param Attrs: 60
    lov View Object: _LOCAL_VIEW_USAGE_lov_model_queries_EmployeesView_DepartmentsView
    lov IterBinding: DepartmentIdList_2

    That's a good idea, but it's still not working. Here is how I implemented it. It might be different from your suggestion as I'm still pretty new to this.
    I have a recursive tree table. You select a node. You then click a button which calls the listener below. "findParents" is a method call to the AppModuleImpl class and it finds all parent nodes of your selection. "restrictPartBomLOV", also of the AppModuleImpl class, then modifies the model driven lists' View Object (partBomLOV) to exclude those parent node values.
    The resulting model driven LOV on the popup should be updated, yeah? But it still isn't udpating. If I manually type in the updated Where clause in PartBomLOV.xml query tab, it works, but it doesn't programmatically.
      public void insertPopupFetchListener(PopupFetchEvent popupFetchEvent)
        BindingContainer bindings = getBindings();
        OperationBinding operationBinding = bindings.getOperationBinding("findParents");
        parents = (List)operationBinding.execute();
        operationBinding = bindings.getOperationBinding("restrictPartBomLOV");
        operationBinding.execute();
       public void restrictPartBomLOV(List parents)
          ViewObjectImpl vo = getPartBomLOV();
          String wcl = "";
          Object[]   p = parents.toArray();
          for(int i = 0; i < p.length; i++)
             if (i == 0)
                wcl = wcl + "PNUM <> '" + p.toString() + "'";
    else
    wcl = wcl + "AND PNUM <> '" + p[i].toString() + "'";
    vo.setWhereClause(wcl);
    System.out.println(vo.getWhereClause().toString());
    vo.executeQuery();

  • How to Define a Required Prompt at the Universe Level

    Apologies if this has already been covered somewhere... I searched and can't find the topic covered yet.
    I've been under the impression for a long time that one could configure a Universe such that it would require a prompt on a dimension whenever that Universe was run, regardless of the tool or report.  For example, you could configure an eFashion Universe such that any report or analysis built against it (Webi, Crustal, Design Studio, Lumira, PowerQuery... whatever) would trigger a prompt, perhaps on Year or State.  The idea is that at the Universe you could prevent developers and self-service users from building "Select All" reports.
    However, even with the use of LOV flags in the Data Foundation and Business Layer (e.g. "Force users to filter values before use"), I can't figure out how to make it work.
    So, I have two questions...
    Is it possible to include required prompts/filters in the Universe definition?
    If so, how?
    Thanks,
    Josh

    Hi...
    Is it possible to include required prompts/filters in the Universe definition?
    Yes..it’s possible to include prompts at universe level,
    If all the reports are using same prompts, you can create at universe level and use same prompt in all the reports. You can define mandatory or optional prompt.
    Following is the syntax for the function.
    @Prompt('message','type',[lov],Mono|Multi,free|constrained|primary_key,persistent|not_persistent,[default_values])
    The following are simple examples of @Prompt syntax.
    Minimal use of the @Prompt function:
    @Prompt('Displayed text ','A',,,)
    Using the @Prompt with a LOV without default values:
    @Prompt('Displayed text ','A',{'Paris','London','Madrid'},,)
    Using the @Prompt with a LOV and one default value:
    @Prompt('Displayed text ','A',{'Paris','London','Madrid'},,,,{'Paris'})
    2 : If so, how?
    In the condition's SELECT or WHERE field, right-click at the place in the expression where you wantto add a prompt and
              select @Prompt editor from the shortcut menu.
    In the Message box, type the message that you want the user to see.
    Select Keep last value selected if you want the prompt to propose the values used for the previousreport.When the report is run for the first time, the default values (if any) are proposed.
    Select Allow multiple selection if the user can enter or select more than one value.
    Set the Selection mode. For Free selection, the user can enter any allowed value. For Constrainedselection, the user must select a value from a list of values. For Primary key, the user selects theobject name, but the object's primary key is used by the query. You can only use the Primary keysetting if Index Awareness is set.
    Note:
    When the Constrained option is selected and a List of Values is not specified, the corresponding Tab color turns to red, OK button is disabled, and on moving the cursor over the highlighted tab, the contextual tooltip displays a message indicating how to rectify the problem.
    Set the Value type for the selection mode: Alphanumeric, Number, or Date.
    If you have selected Primary key for the selection mode, set the Key type: Alphanumeric, Number,or Date.
    If you are using multiple selection, define the list of values. Do one of the following: you can type orimport a list of values, or you can select a universe object.
    Click the Default Values tab and define any default values. When you allow multiple selection, youcan set more than one default value.
    Click OK.
    The "@Prompt" editor closes and the prompt expression is visible in the condition's statement in the "Edit Properties" pane.
    Validate the prompt and click Parse.When the syntax is

  • Dynamic lovs in parameter forms ... Is this possible?

    Hi
    I am using report developer 10g on windows xp.
    I need a cascading prompt style dynamic LOVs in my report parameter form.
    The first LOV displays a set of values (say for eg. dept list). The second LOV will display another list, based on the value chosen by the user in the first LOV (Eg. List of employee names in that dept).
    My first LOV select statement may look like below for the user parameter say P_DEPT
    select deptno from dept;
    My sencod LOV select stmnt may look like below for the user parameter P_EMP
    select ename from emp where deptno = :P_DEPT
    Each time I try to set the second LOV, report developer complains "Bind variables not allowed in select statement"
    Same error msg comes if I reference the first user parameter(P_DEPT) as a lexical parmaeter.
    How do I acheive the above in report parameter form? Any help is appreciated greatly...
    Thanks

    Hi Brad,
    Thanks for the reply. I had almost given up hope on receiving replies to this message.
    I do agree that it is simpler (and a lot striaght forward) to just use forms to develop dynamic LOVs of cascading prompt style, that is required in my app. But in our shop, we have integrated forms and reports in such a way, that all the report parameters are handled by report developer's own parameter form, rather than coding a separate logic on the forms side to handle the report parameters(as this has to be done on the forms side for every report that we generate, We thought it would be better to use the reports developer to handle the parameter input and then pass the .rdf to forms app). Currently in all our app, the parameter form generated by the report developer is rendered as HTML form on the browser (when the concerned rdf file is called within the forms app) and by submitting this we get the report output)
    Hence I am very keen to get this done somehow on the report developer side.
    I do hope I get some input on this. Also, its a little surprising that such a simple feature is not readily avalibale in the report parameter form. I hope oracle report developer team is reading this message...:)
    Thanks

  • Prompt  with  default  date   (  currentdate-1  and current date-8)

    Dear all,
      I am creating an @prompt varaiable for Date .

    Requirement is in Place of "Default Values"   i need show  currentdate -1 and  currentdate-8 .
    Thanks
    suresh.p

    Hi Suresh,
    I have got more idea to do this.
    1 .Build another object of the same field in unv = u201CDate Rangeu201D
    code:
        case when (Date between trunc(sysdate u2013 1) and trunc(sysdate)) then u2018Yesterdayu2019
                 when (Date between trunc(sysdate u2013 8) and trunc(sysdate+1)) then u2018Last 8 Daysu2019
       end
    2. Now Add Yesterday in the defalut for currentdate-1 promp or u2018Last 8 Daysu2019 for currentdate-8 Prompt.
    = @Prompt(u2019Date Pickeru2019,'Au2019,DateX,mono,constrained,persistent,{u2019Yesterdayu2019})
       Create this prompt in the "Date Range" objects. or create a condition, What ever way you want it.
    Please try this and see if this can work without any parsing error.
