Hierarchal Columns and Passing Values to a Detail Report (Action Links)

I have a question in OBIEE 11.1.1.5 around Hierarchal Columns and passing the values to a detail report. I have create a report with a Hierarchal column (Two Levels only), Month Column and a metric.
I created a detail report and see both columns used in the hierarchy to "is Prompted" as well as the Month column.
On the Summary report I put an Action Link on the Metric to navigate to this Detail Report. When I select the metric I see that the Month value gets passed to the Detail Report but none of the Hierarchal columns have been passed at all.
When I replace the hierarchal column with just the two columns, the values get passed fine.
Is this a known issue with Hierarchal columns? Is this functionality even available?

I am in OBIEE 11g v6.
Let's say, I have two dashbaord pages P1 and P2.
P1 page contains
1. Prompt PR1 - containing a single column EmpName
2. Report R1
P2 page contains
1. Prompt PR2 - containing a single column EmpName (same column as in PR1)
2. Report R2
Requirement :
Let's say a user select a value = David from the EmpName column in prompt PR1. In the Report R1, on one the measure columns 'Sales', I am using an action link - Navigate to URL ( I can't use Navigate to BI Content for some reasons). In the URL, I am giving the URL to page P2. Can I pass the selected value (which is David) to the EmpName column of the Prompt PR2 of Page P2 so that Report R2 is automatically limited by David when I land on that page through the URL?
Few things to consider are, I can't use EmpName column in my report R1 on page P1, I just want to pass the value of a common column from one prompt on Page1 to another prompt on Page2. Is that possible. Can anybody please help?

Hmm can you give a try one more time with
Add EmpName name and hide it on report R1 on page P1
and set EmpName as Is Prompted on report R2 on page P2 and with my earlier steps should work.
Other option is read this doc once that helps you how to pass value thru url.

Navigate between 2 reports and pass values between 2 different columns

Hello
I have a question about navigating from 1 report to another while passing the value from column 1 to column 2 in the second report...
In OBIEE 11G, I create action link on report 1, column 1 and this action link is navigate to BI Content and the destination is report 2. Now report 2 has column 2, which is an alias of column 1 from report 1, from user's point of view they are the same, but from OBIEE point of view they are different.
My action link is able to navigate to report 2, however, the value in column 1 which I clicked to execute the navigation, does not get passed to column 2 in report 2..
Is there a way around this issue?

Passing multiple parameter values to a detail report. How?

I have a Summary report and a Detail report.
Summary report has a parameter that may have multiple values (ie returning an array).
I need to pass these values to the Detail report.
Anybody has managed to do it?

The problem is as follows:
I have a report portlet that has a parameter with multiple values. Ie I would have two status values passed into this Summary report that shows, say total sum for those statuses. I have a link from this report to a detail report, and i need to pass both of these values into the detail report.
I have tried adding a parameter (p_status_param) in the SQL query that would be a part of link by building it in "PL/SQL after header section" and doing the parameter replace.

I have a question about navigating from 1 report to a dashboard page while passing the value from column 1 to column 2 in the second report...

Since I can't put column 1 in dashboard 2 nor can I put column 2 in report 1. Because our data model is done in the way that if I use column 1 or column 2 in both places, it will be circular joins...
Is there a way around this issue?

Here is the thing..
Let's say we have Dimension 1, dimension 2 and fact 1 and fact 2
In one report, you need to show Dimension 2 and fact 1 so Dimension 2 joins to fact 1.
In some other cases, you need to shown dimension 1 and fact 2 stuffs, but dimension 1 can't get to fact 2 without going through dimension 2. So Dim 1 --> Dim 2 --> Fact 2
Then in some other cases, you need to show Dim 1 and Fact 1 reports..
In means, your model will look at:
Dim1 --> DIm2 and Dim 1 --> Fact 1 and Dim 2 --> Fact 1.. This is just a simpler version of a much more complex model that I am dealing with now..
So in this case, you can't just use Dim 1 attributes across the board. For some dashboards, you will have to create alias of Dim 1, call it A1_Dim1, un-join Dim1 with Dim 2 or to fact 1 to avoid circular joins... Then in different reports, you either use columns from Dim 1 or A1_Dim1..
Now Dim1 and A1_DIM1 are really the same thing, but they are not according to OBIEE...
So my problem is, in report 1 where Dim1 is used, it can't past values to Dashboard 2 where A1_DIM1 is used as dashboard prompt..
I want to know if there is a way around this issue

My question is how can I pass the master report value in to detail (Child) report filter?
I mean I have one master report if I click on employee name then I have to pass the employee id in to details report filter. Then detail report will display data for that particular employee.
How can I achieve this one in OBIEE?

In that case, you should look at using Go Url. In your column formula for the employee name, create a hyperlink to the detail report and pass the employee id.

I've created a Master/Detail Form like this

Master and Details entries are in different pages.
everything is ok, but i want to pass more than 1 column value from master to detail page. How can i do this?

Hi,
Values are passed from the master page to the detail page using a column link. By default, the primary key column is passed from the master page to the detail page. To pass further values, add further source columns / target items to the 'Column Link' attribute of your master report's link column.

When i try to pass a value from a selected cell to the detailview doesn't work without error;
to test i try to pass value to detailview from second table loading it as first one table in pop control and it work;
what am i forgetting?

I removed the alert view code to simplify things, and I would recommend leaving it out until you get the above, basic transition working correctly.
Are you presenting the alert view so the user can decide whether or not the detail view should be opened? If so, you might want something like this:

The code which brings up the detail view is placed in the alert view delegate method because the main thread isn't suspended after [alert show]. GREAT info, but it may be helpful to note that when replacing a portion of the variable "Countries" with a whitespace character, you may cause the workflow to fail in a few specific cases (certain lookup fields will not accept this and will automatically
cancel). I only found this out when recreating your workflow on a similar, but much more complex list set.
To resolve this issue, I used another utility action (Extract Substring from Index of List) to clear out the whitespace. I configured it as "Copy from
Variable: Countries, starting at
1 (Output to Variable: Countries), which takes care of this issue in those few cases.

Calling a report and passing values!!

Hi Experts,
i have a requirement. I have a report [zrep1] with billing doc field and shipment field on the selection screen.
The logic for billing document is written. Im writing logic for shipment numbers. I am finding the billing documents of delivaries for each shipment.
I want to pass those billing documents as input to the same report program [zrep1] for the existing billing document code to get the output.
How to call the same report and pass the values from internal table as input to it.
Please suggest the way to proceed. i knw it is possible.

I'm getting next year (not existing) with AGO columns and Aggr values

Hi guys,
I have a time-dimension set-up with unique level chronological keys.
Using function AGO without problems. (giving correct values for CY, PY, PY-1 etc.)
However, I'm getting values for 2009 with 0 values for CY metrics and the value of PY being twice the value of values for 2008. Also, if I filter 2009 - I get the similar results. However, if I remove all PY columns, I get nothing (no results). I set some nulls in fact table and I have them set as IFNULL, 0 - could this be the issue?
Anyone knows what the problem could be? I can work-around by applying filter in Answers Year <= Current Year. But I need to do this in RPD

I was able to go around this by applying filter in the logical column (let's say I have metric Sales Amt - I reference it as Sales Amt CY and use the following expression:
FILTER (Sales Amt CY USING TimeDim.Year <= VALUEOF('VariableCurrentFiscalYear'). This resolves the issue. However, I'm trying to find a more elegant solution. I tried without luck these 2: a) add a duplicate of Time Dim table (from outside Time dimension) as a mapped logical source and use the expression in Content WHERE clause - didn't work
b) limit dim Year table - didn't happen as well....
I still get the results for 2009 for PY, 2010 for PY-1 etc....

How to import values from txt and pass values to variables

I need to export some variables from Indesign and import them in Illustrator. I can export a txt file from InDesign but I don't know how to import and pass the values to variables in Illustrator.
