  • Pass hierarchy dashboard prompt to analysis in Oracle BI

    Hi All,
I am new to Oracle BI EE 11g. Right now i am learning this.
I have created time hierarchy dashboard prompt and saved it my shared folder.
I have created a analysis which shows Top 10 products Revenue and saved it my shared folder.
Now I am trying to connect the above two items in my dashboard. But I don't know how to pass hierarchy prompt values to my analysis. There is no option to drop hierarchy dimension in analysis filter and mark it as "is prompted".
    Can anyone please help me?
    Thanks
    Maya

Well Haree, your idea don't activate filter
My BI version is Oracle Business Intelligence 11.1.1.6.0
I've checked that hierarchy column value from Time hierarchy selected via filter on dashboard A can be sent through Go URL
to new report B opened in new window, but BI don't suppport including hierarchy column in filter section of target report B.
So, other words, I've faced already 3 weeks against the same issue.
User select in Dashboard A subset of Time hierarchy along with common filters say Supplier, but it is not possible to drill through Supplier to its Customers with keeping
selected dimensions of Time hierarchy, say couple of selected weeks of September, in new target Report B.
And I wonder why BI allow pass hierarchy column value in Go URL but don't give to use its value in navigated report.
May be it's tiime to set Patch 11.1.1.6.2 BP1 ?
    Any advices greately appreciated

  • Hierarchy dashboard prompt

In the OBIEE 11.1.1.6, I make use of default RPD named 'SampleAppLite.rpd', and I created dashboard prompt for 'Product Hierarchy', however, in the request, there is no hierarchy, only has some columns, such as 'Brand','LOD'
My issue is that the created request does not be impacted by dashboard prompt, is there any missing steps? Thanks.
Note, need it have product hierarchy in request?
the Hierarchy prompt only gets applied when the hierarchy is displayed in the report. It is not applied even when it is present in the excluded section , Is it correct?

  • Profit Center Hierarchy Variable-Prompt

    Hello,
I'm using a heirarchy variable in BEx 7.0 query designer that is based on a profit center hierarchy object. When I execute the query, and I get prompted to choose nodes of the hierarchy, I'm only able to "include" nodes but I'm not able to "exlcude" nodes. Any ideas?
    Thanks!
    Michelle

Remove the varaible for the hierarchy and try executing it.
If you remove the Hierarchy variable from the query and execute the query ,user should only get the nodes to which he is restticted it could be 1 node or multiple.
Hope you had kept Type of Authorization = " 1" Subtree below nodes in RSECADMIN of the auth object for profit center for the particular node
    Hope it Helps

  • Integrated mode reporting; how to enable drilldown hierarchy parameter prompts instead of messy caption indented prompts...?

    Hello all,
Currently I am struggiling with the visualization of the SSRS report parameters in SharePoint integrated mode. I have built a SSRS report on a dimensional model (to be exact, a SSAS cube, but that doesn't really matter) and it has a parameter with a hierarchy
in it (with four levels). Per default, SSRS displays this hierarchy as a caption indented list using three spaces per level. As you can understand, this is a very sloppy, messy lay-out and not really desirable. I think it should be possible to switch to a
drilldown hierarchy using the "+" to expand a level and show all sibblings, but how can I achieve this?! Do I really need some custom code for this?
    To give an example, take a standard date dimension used as a parameter with the following members, Year, Quarter, Month and Week. The way this is currently visualized in the paremeter box is as follows, using three spaces per level;
    2013
       Q1
          January
             Week 1
             Week 2
             Week 3
             Week 4
          Februari
             Week 5
    ... and so on.
What I want to use is the standard hierarchial drilldown functionality you see when actually browsing a cube. How can I achieve this?
    Thanks in advance!

    Hi,
As this is a SSRS question, I suggest you post it to SQL Server Reporting Services, Power View
Forum, you will get more help and confirm answers from there.

  • Dashboard prompt on a Dimension Hierarchy in Obiee 11g

    Hi All,
I have created a hierarchy (parent-child) on a dimension 'A'. I am able to create a dashboard prompt for the dimension hierarchy. However I am not sure how to create a report that is to be filtered on this dashboard prompt. I tried using the attribute name that the hierarchy uses but that does not work. Can some one please let me know how i can filter a report by a hierarchy dimension prompt.
    Thanks,
    Nikita

    Hi Nikita,
For your requirement, you need to go for Selection steps pane in the analysis(report). Click on steps link and then add the hierarchy column that you want to use and expand the hierarchy to the lowest level. Now select all these and all the attributes will now appear in the other side.
If you dont expand the hierarchy to the lowest level, then only the highest level values will appear in your selection at prompt.
Also make sure to check the 'override' checkbox in the bottom, this helps in filtering the values.
    Hope this answers your question.
    Cheers,
    Obul

  • Limit prompt by value for an hierarchy prompt.

    Hi All,
I have Two Hierarchy column prompts in the dashboard prompt.
    My requirement is,
According to the value selected from the first hierarchy , second hierarchy values should be restricted or limited.
    Thanks,
    Haree.

    Hi RG,
Thanks for your response. *'Limit Vaulues By' -> All prompts* is possible for dimension columns.
whether it is applicable for hierarchy column?
My requirement is only for hierarchy column in dashboard prompts.
    Thanks,
    Haree.

  • Universe issue..  ??

    Hello All,
There  is a requirement to add 3 Hierarchy variable prompts in Webi report.
    For this :
    1.  I added Hierarchy variables in Bex query
    2. As there are several reports already created on the existing universe, I  generated a new universe to copy the hierarchy LOVs and Filters. Adjusted the folder names and MDX in the filters to refer the folder name containing LOVs.
    3. Now I tried to created a   test webi report in-order to see the prompts. I am able to see the prompts but not the hierarchy nodes in one prompt.
    4. It says NO VALUES.
But when i tried to create a test webi report on the new universe, prompts work perfectly.Able to see all the nodes and values in the prompt.
Is there any way out to fix this problem? Please don't suggest to go ahead with the new universe, as there are lot of webi reports dependent on the old universe. I wish to know why I am not able to see the values in one particular prompt.
    Kindly Advise
    James

    Hi Kelly,
To repoint the existing report please follow following steps:-
-Open that report in modify mode
-Click on Edit Query on the top left.
    -Click on properties tab
-Click on [...] botton under universe
    - Select the universe from the list and click OK.

  • Prompt Hierarchy in BO WEBI Report

    Hi,
currently we have to implement a functionality in BO WEBI report Prompt where Network and Equipment 2 prompt  fields
    are present.
User want if they select a Network then the Equipment that belong to that selected Network should shown in Drop Down Values
    of Equipment Prompt.
This is a type of Prompt Hierarchy.
Source for the WEBi Report is BW Bex Query. and there is no Hierarchy maintained in Network and Equipment at Bex and
    Bw system as well.
Please let me know how can i achieve this.
    we are Using SAP-BI4.0 solution.
    Regards
    Atul

    Hi Atul,
You can achieve this by dragging these two fields in the filter bar section of the webi. then apply variables on these fields.
    hope it helps

  • Can we have a Hierarchy in the Prompt of webi? promot as key-text?

    Hello all,
Can we have a Hierarchy in the Prompt of webi? We are using Fund Center hierarchy and the user wants to select the top node to get all the nodes under it in hierarchies?
Also along same lines can we display the Long text and Key ofthe FUnd center in prompt (hierarchy or not)
Thanks in advance for all the replies.

    Hi david, Gowtham
Thanks for the replies. I was able to get a hierarchy in the prompt. I created mandatory hierarchy variable in the bex query which is feeding the universe and it automatically came over as hierarchy. I am still not able to get how would you create cascade on same object, I understand the market and region (2 different object) example. So if you can please explain.
With that said I still am not sure how you would display your prompt with description of objects rather than technical names. Any insight on that please?
    Thanks a lot

created a report with project hierarchy and Budget.
My requirement is when i select project group in prompt my report has to display Top 10 Budget in this group.
Like wise if i select project subgroup means, Top 10 Budget in project subgroup.
Give me the solution how to achieve in obiee 11g.
Pls reply as soon as possible.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
You need to write the below code in the prompt->Choice List Values(11 g)->SQL Results
    SELECT Hier_column_name FROM subject_area_name where rank(measure_column_name)<10
I had tried this and works. Award points if problem got resolved.

  • Hierarchy Prompts in OBIEE 11g

    Hi All,
I have an Issue with Implementing Hierarchy Prompts in OBIEE 11g. I understand that Filters on Hierarchy Prompts can be applied in Selection steps and cannot be viewed in the Physical Query as such. However, what happens is, the Hierarchy prompt only gets applied when the hierarchy is displayed in the report. It is not applied even when it is present in the excluded section. So, it works only when it is displayed in the report. Is this correct? Is there any workaround for this?
Any help on this would be much appreciated
    Regards,
    Venkatesh

If the column set to prompt no matters what (column is present,or not, excluded or hidden) the prompt should work.
Check it again something might gone wrong.

  • Hierarchy columns in prompts

    Hi,
When using a hierarchical column (parent-child type) in a prompt the underlying reports must have this column physically included and the hierarchy column must also be included in the graph/table or else it will not be filtered when a value is set in the prompt. This is very frustrating because I don't want to show the hierarchy value in graphs or summary tables, but I want to use the parent-child hierachy col. because it contains the organization and is therefore crucial and highly wanted functionality from users/customers.
I have several times tried to "force" Oracle to look at this as a bug, but they have a hard time to approve this.
Am I the only one that look at this as lack of functionality in OBIEE 11g?

  • Dynamic Variable based on Hierarchy causes additional prompts

    Hi all,
I am getting some additional prompts in Crystal Report in following scenario and need some help to avoid them
The query in BI has active cost center hierarchy and cost element hierarchy. It has two variables, Fiscal Year/period (X) and Budget Version (Y).
In the report I have created a Dynamic parameter (Z) based on Cost Center Hierarchy. So when previewing the report, in designer as well in Info View, I get prompted for three variables (X, Y & Z).
The issue is, before list of values are presented for selection for variable Z, it prompts me again for variables X and Y. Also, at this time around, prompts for variables X & Y does not show their list of values.
The report has been created with SAP MDX driver, has been published to Business Objects Enterprise via saving report to SAP BW. SAP authentication is used to preivew/view the report from CR designer as well as in BOE.
Can some please point out what I am missing and help me to get rid of prompts for variables X & Y second time.
    Thank you,
    IMS

    Hi Ingo,
After much testing and looking into trace etc. we have got this thing to behave as desired. Basically, following two things,
    - no reference to CR Dynamic Hierarchy variable on report. There were places where this parameter was being refered and causing grief. We tested with brand new report.
    - making sure that on query Cost center restriction is placed in Characteristic Restriction area of Filter tab of query, as oppose to default value area filter tab.
With above in place, the published report in infoview behave as desired, i.e. proper hierarchy structure in cost center prompt and group tree and only desired nodes showing on report.
Thank you for all you pointers
    Regards
    IMS
