High download cap rubish

After 3 years of so called unlinited broadband (yes I know the downloads are not linited only the speed which has the same damned effect ) and an average monthly use of around 5 Gig I go to 80 G once and get the usual warning
why can BT not be a little fairer and base the application of the speed cap or rather speed cripple on a running average over a few months
My last 12 months would average around 13 Gig per month (11 x 5 +1x80 ) I think I will from now on use 80 Gig each month just for the hell of it
If any post helps tick the star box on the left
Just cause Im paranoid dont mean they are not out to get me

@r1sh12 I get the same problem with you as far as the download speed is concerned. I believe it is the packets bouncing from BT's network onto the relevant speedtest.net server's network without arriving properly at your router hence the high speed. The upload limit is usually true because it's handled server-side.

  • Ipad mini with retina display has really slow and laggy streaming but very high download speed

I just got my ipad mini with retina display yesterday. The regular internet works fine as far as I can tell. I tried streaming video from watch espn, netflix, and youtube, and all three apps were so slow I couldn't watch anything. I have a high download speed too, it is 15 Mbps. I tried turning off the QOS engine in my router, and my download speed was up to 30 Mbps, and I still had the same terrible streaming quality. I tried changing the DNS as well, and this did nothing. I tried doing all the restarting and other "quick fixes," and nothing seems to work. Can anybody help me?

  • WRT54G Download Capped!!!

    Aaaaarrrrgggggg!!!
I upgraded my Linksys BEFW11S4 v.2 to the Linksys WRT54G v6. I am running the latest firmware - version 1.02.0 [2-9-07] under Windows XP Pro SP-2.
With the BEFW11S4 v.2, I was download capped at around 1.36 mbps. With the WRT54G v6 I am STILL download capped at around 1.36 mbps!
I don't know what else to try. Any suggestions?!?! Thanks!

When you say "download capped", I assume you mean download speed from the Internet.  When you do a speed test, what kind of speed are you getting?
What Internet speed are you paying for?
Connect your computer, by wire, to your modem, then repeat the speed test.  What kind of speed are you getting?
If you are only paying for 1.5 Mbps Internet connection speed, then a speed test showing 1.36 Mbps connection speed may be perfectly normal.

  • How to download CAPS trial ?

    Hi,
I thought it was possible to download a trial copy of Java CAPS but couldn't find any way for that. I also saw posts from people who downloaded it.
    Is it possible ?
    Thanks
    R

I've never seen a trial download for JCAPS. open-esb at https://open-esb.dev.java.net/index.html i believe is the open source side of java caps. My guess is though if you download that you are getting something closer to v6 rather than 5.1.3. v6 is due out this summer.
Other than that you would probably need to contact sales and ask them about it. If you do find one let us know. I've seen this question before.

  • Unlimited High Speed being capped to 5G for the same price, Verizon **bleep**?

Looked into upgrading my USB760 to a USB551L today, and was told I would be forced to change my plan when 4G came to my area.  I have unlimited service for 59.99 and when forced to change will pay the exact same amount for a service with a 5Gig cap.  I love the idea of having mobile broadband and have kept the service mainly because of the unlimited use; however, when I signed up for this service I was told as long as the line was active, they would honor my current plan.  What happened to the "Grandfathered" agreement that I signed up for?  Customer service advised that I could go ahead and upgrade with the same plan, but as soon as 4G hits my area, I would be forced into the capped plan for the same price.  Why in the world would I agree to move from unlimited to a capped plan...so like I said, Verizon **bleep**?

I have a 10g plan for $80,  2 10g  Ntelos plans, (because Verizon is too expensive), and that is still not enough for 3 avid users. Who decides how much bandwidth is for normal usage? If I had the ability to get a hard connection, I would do so, but unfortunately, living out in rural areas, it's not possible.
While in the UK this past summer, I used the wireless provided at the hotels. The wireless speeds were at least 5x's faster than what we have in the states, and I am talking rural Glencoe, Scotland! Nothing but mountains and pastures where I was staying.
It's definitely corporate greed. Keep that pipe tight and only give out bits...
I know for a fact, because my husband was involved in laying fiber optic cables, he knows how much bandwidth that can be piped thru one cable, and what do you think provides bandwidth to those cell towers? Fiber Optics! Is there a cap on a hard connection? Is there a cap on Fios? I know Comcast thought about putting a 250G download cap a few years past, not sure if that happened. Come on! 10G download and upload cap!
Where are the bigger plans? I am willing to pay and I am, but seriously, 10G's I use alone and that's without live streaming and Videos... can't afford to use up the bandwidth.
Hopefully there will be another option coming soon for us who are held hostage by wireless broadband, and a 10G cap.
    Obama! Where isOUR broadband internet!

  • Download error in app store

I am getting error messages when downloading Numbers and Keynote 5 from Ap Store software updates. I am then told return to "Purchases" and download again.
Files appear to download entire MB download and then fail to install, requiring a complete re-start of download from the beginning. This is *expensive* when you have a limited monthly download cap.
Is there any way to find the previously downloaded file within OSX Mavericks and to resume it rather than having to redownload the whole file (with the possibility of getting another error message at the end (this has happen twice now!

  • Converting CAP 3 files to Cap 4 files

    Hi,
I recently purchased Cap 4. I already had Cap 3 on my
computer prior to downloading Cap 4. I thought that Cap 4 would
automatically convert older C3 files to C4. So i removed C3
software. Once removed, all current C3 files were shown as
unopenable (ie cap file icon gone) but I could open the old C3
files with C4 (which performed the conversion during opening.
However, When I saved the newly opened file (in C4) it did not seem
to be saved as a C4 file (ie there wasnt any file icon shown where
saved) the file icon still looks like the unopenable C3 file (post
    removal of C3 app)
    Whats going on?
    RB

    Hi RB
Normally the icons you see in Windows Explorer are a result
of installing an application. At that time, an association is
created between certain file types and their application.
My question to you is twofold.
    1. Did you uninstall C3 AFTER you installed C4?
    2. What happens when you double-click the icon?
As long as you are operating by opening Captivate, THEN
opening the project files you should be okay. I'm guessing you
uninstalled C3 after you installed C4. And when you uninstalled C3,
it probably disassociated the CP file extension so it is now
unknown to Windows. Double-clicking the file *SHOULD* result in
Windows asking you which application you wish to use to open the
file. You should then be able to browse to Captivate 4 and choose
the EXE file. When you do that, the dialog normally has a check box
allowing you to permanently associate the file type with Captivate.
Hopefully this was helpful to you... Rick

  • Purchased mountain lion and receive 403 forbidden error when downloading to snow leopard 10.6.8

    can you help me?
Thank you so much for suggestions

That's an error message from the server, and it has nothing to do with the permissions of your files. There are several possible causes.
Sometimes the error is due to a problem in Apple's network. You just have to wait it out.
You may have exceeded a download cap imposed by your ISP. Log in to your ISP account to check.
If you're connecting through a proxy server, disable it in the Network preference pane and try again.
"Anti-virus" software can interfere with the App Store. To disable it, boot in safe mode. Wi-Fi won't work in safe mode on some iMac models. If yours is one of them, and you can only connect via Wi-Fi, uninstall the "anti-virus" product according to the developer's instructions, then reboot. You're better off without it anyway.
If you're using a public DNS service such as OpenDNS, use the DNS servers provided by your ISP instead. That's also a change you make in the Network preference pane.

  • From 2Mbps to 160Kbps download bandwidth

    Hi,
About a week ago ago our broadband performance dropped off completely from "slightly-slow-but-working" to "put-the-kettle-on-whilst-the-page-loads". Normal broadband download bandwidth has been about 2Mbps but is now showing 160Kbps! Does anyone have any insight into why this may be the case?
I have tried the usual steps of disconnecting everything, restarting the router, silent line test and several speed tests most of which could not complete their test due to the atrocious speed. My router info is below, and http://speedtest.btwholesale.com/ says my download speed is 0.12 Mbps, upload speed 0.35 Mbps and ping latency 43.88ms.
My best guess is that there was line interference last week (there did seem to be more background noise on the phone for a short period) and that the connection has not recovered, but from what I can see of other postings they tend to report a higher download bandwidth in the router settings but slow actual speed - here I am getting a far lower bandwidth reported by the router too.
    All help greatly appreciated!
    Cheers,
    -Jonathan

in order for the forum members to help please can you post the adsl stats from your router may need to 'show detail' to get all stats (if hub enter 192.168.1.254 in your browser and navigate to adsl or use a-z, if netgear enter 192.168.0.1) and run  btspeedtester  (MAC users may have problems). when first test completes then run diagnostic test and post the results .
are you connected directly via a filter to the NTE5 master or test socket or to somewhere else? Is the master the only phone socket in your home?
Have you tried the quiet line test? - dial 17070 option 2 - should hear nothing - best done with a corded phone. if cordless phone you may hear a 'dull hum' which is normal

  • Creating button in cap 2

I just downloaded Cap 2. Previously in Cap 1 you where able
to creat your button image and insert the three different states.
in Cap two when i want to insert the button states it only takes
the one image and uses it for all three states. Is there a way to
rectify this issue or do i need fireworks or some other program to
create the button with all three states?
    thanks eric

Captivate 2 does indeed use three button states that are
reflected by the use of "_up", "_over" and "_down" in the image
filename. I assume the filename can be anything you want, although
I've never tried to use anything that wasn't a single word, like
"Continue_button_up.gif". And there doesn't seem to be a limitation
on the file type... I create my source images in GIF format and
Captivate seems to like them just fine.
When designating the source graphics, point Captivate to your
"_up" state button and it automatically assigns the other two based
on their file names ("_over" and "_down").
You don't have to store your button graphics in the Captivate
2 install directory... they can be anywhere and you simply need to
    browse to them.

  • Im trying to download a dvd with promotional code on to itunes.

So far i have been unsuccessful, a window comes up saying that the application requires 7.6.2 or higher download latest version, which i did. Then i started the process all over again now to get the error message (2005).
I would be so grateful if anyone could share how to do this?

    According to this list:
    http://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread.php?t=122431
the digital copy offer for Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs expired in October of last year, at least in the US. This is a scam being run by the movie studios; they advertise digital copies on the Blu-Ray and DVD disks they sell, but don't tell you up front that they're redeemable only for a limited time after the movie is first released.

  • Can a 256K download speed /64K Upload speed work with Apple TV?

My connection speed is 256K/64K, does it work with Apple TV?

I'm sure it will work, just very slowly for accessing itunes Store content such as rentals.
I'm on a relatively slow connection of 1Mbps and I'd say a standard def 100 min movie might take 4 hours to download so you could at least quadruple that. A HD movie rental is larger and I have to download over say 10-12 hours (eg overnight for following day viewing or whilst at work), so again you could probably quadruple that.
Once a purchase/rebtal had downloaded fully it will playback normally regardless of connection speed.
Also your home network is likely to be much faster than your internet connection so anything compatible you play back via your iTunes should work fine.
Where you may see problems will be with movie trailers, YouTube and online photo access - they will work to some degree but you'd probably get a video start playing then stop/start having to rebuffer all the time (this happens to me with trailers). Online photos (eg Flickr/MobileMe) will undoubtedly work, just more slowly.
So, for compatible music/video you own and resides in itunes, playback should be fine. Rentals may take a day or a couple of days to fully download so you'd need to plan ahead - if your video store is round the corner you'd probably stick with it!
Also remember that if you are downloading a large file like a movie/movie rental it will hog your internet bandwidth and slow other internet access from your computer. You may also want to check if your ISP has download caps in place or charges per GB downloaded for example.
