High watermark issue

Hi all,
I am currently investigating a possible high waternmark problem with one of our tables. Can anyone tell me how I can find out the watermark of a particular table.
help greatly appreciated.

Hi,
Analyze table <table_name> compute statistics;
select blocks from user_tables where table_name = '<table_name>';
will give the hwm in blocks.

  • High Watermark issue with monitoring Service Manager 2012 R2

    Hi,
Our customer has a Service Manager / Operations Manager 2012 R2 environment where SCOM will regularly generate an alarm related to High Watermark monitoring on the Service Manager data warehouse - not every day though. The alarm looks like this:
Value of 3559 is not higher than 3559
This value hasn't changed for weeks.
Having done a lot of searching we have found nothing but reference to the same recurring flow of information where people keep mentioning different values but there is no conclusion of what this might be caused by and how to solve it. The solutions
have become outdated anyway. Here is one example:
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/forums/systemcenter/en-US/889af8f3-cdf8-4d88-ae99-5dbe18d529ef/service-manager-2012-data-warehouse-high-watermark-monitor
The Service Manager Database Account in SCOM is our service account that has sysadmin in SQL. Basically, with regards to the security configuration, our customer should be covered.
To my knowledge agent-based and agentless monitoring have both been supported since SCSM 2012 SP1. Also, we have the latest management pack for Service Manager monitoring in SCOM, at the moment this should be
    7.5.3079.0.
As mentioned above the value has not been changing for quite some time and nor has it in the database.
    My questions are the following:
    - Is there anyone that has found a solution in the meantime, especially with regards to R2?
    - What is the purpose of High Watermark monitoring for the data warehouse? Why does this need to be monitored?
    - We would like to understand the nature of this value better. Should it be higher each day compared to the day before?
    - Could it just be overriden in SCOM?
    Many thanks in advance!

Rather unexpectedly, the SCOM alarm disappeared overnight and when checking the workflow in the incident that was generated from the alarm, the incident got a Resolved status right before midnight at 23:59:58. We have a ConfigMgr connector that is scheduled
to run at 23:00 which we had disabled a day ago to check something else. But I don't think it had anything to do with this. As the alarm has disappeared from the SCOM console, we have also checked the registry values. Now, instead of "3559 3559 3559"
it says "3559 3559 3585". We have had the 3559 value since 18th July, and out of a sudden something must have been triggered, causing the value to increase. What was triggered and how, no idea... Not sure either what it means that only one of the
Three numbers have been updated with a new value. When talking about the DW jobs, using the SMlets we can see every day that, MPSync, DWMaintenance and the ETL jobs are working well. What we have had though for a longer time is that the cube processing
tends to have issues once a week, where processing won't finish and the cubes get hanging in a running state. We can fix that manually every time and often we don't even have to touch DWMaintenance or the ETL jobs, we don't need to go beyond manually
working with the cube processing jobs themselves. So it might not have an impact on the ETL jobs themselves. Occasionally we do find ourselves in a situation where we we need to play around in the SQL database and manually set the required value (can't
recall if it's 3, 6 or 7) cause we get an error in the DWMaintenance batch, but even though that's an occasional issue it's not constant and also something we can solve, and furthermore it's another known issue outside of the high watermark issue. So
we are a bit uncertain but can at least see that something works sometimes that sometimes increases the high watermark value :). In our case.

  • Options for resize datafile lower than high watermark besid alter table mov

    hello all,
I have an issue where i am getting ORA-03297 error when trying to resize the datafile. Its becuase of high watermarks. I know i have couple of options...either resize it till the high watermark or Drop or move segments containing extents in this region prior to
resizing the file....but the situation is this....this a test env...and we have couple of chained rows and doing that(alter table move) will get rid of our chained rows and we do not want that....as we are testing the removal of chained row from our prod systems....as i mentioned we cant do alter table move
what other options do we have in order to shrink datafile below highwater mark besides moving or droping the segment into a different tablespace as we want to preserve the chianed rows for our testing and making the DB smaller in size (space issue on the server ) ??? any ideas or any thoughts ??
we are on 10.2.0.3 on AIX system
i have already went thru these metalink doc .... on that error
Note 1029252.6 - How to Resize a Datafile
Note 130866.1 - How to Resolve ORA-03297 When Resizing a Datafile by Finding the Table Highwatermark
    Note 237654.1 - Resizing a Datafile Returns Error ORA-03297

i am sorry not able to get your question ??
I want to shrink the space of the Datafile without removing the chaned rows for testing the removal of chianed row for prod. The reason why is becoz of rman backup space issue. If we shrink the datafile our DB will be down to 150GB....and if we cant its about 450GB...which is big difference...and the reason for backup for this dev env is because once we have tested teh removal of chained rows...we will restore it again and re-test it and its a very mission critial system...we need to test this min of 3 times to get teh change approved...thats why...if we have a backup now...we can remove chain rows and then restore it back to this point and test it again...if you know wat i mean

Be aware that the final hop (bottom-most line of the trace) will contain a hop with your IP address in it. Remove that line. • High latency issue of an evening whilst gaming.

Hiya`s Peeps, Having recently switched to BT from Virgin (this being only my third day as a customer) as the VM service for gaming in my area (Sth Manchester) on thier 50mb package was simply not viable due to over utilisation issues, I now find myself experiencing high latency issues with my BT service.
All three evenings have been lost to me as my in game latency (World of Warcraft) has rose upto 3500ms with occasional disconnections.
Also strange was that was after the BB was first switched on I had a consistent in-game latency of 24ms home and 24ms world, this lasted around 8 hours until I experienced my first lag spike, I was disconnected and when I eventually was able to get back in game, some 20 minutes or so later, my home and world latency had changed to 42/45 (still playable ) but every 10 to 15 minutes the world latency would again rise to around 3k and above and I would again be disconnected from the server.
I do apologise for the lack of any technical detail within this post as I simply do not understand such and struggle terribly with it, I am very happy with both my speed and ping tests, both being excellent in comparison to that that I would see when using the VM service.
What I am after I guess is advice from the community on how to get the best from BT bb for playing my online game, this connection is only used for World of Warcraft and very light reading on the www, I do not have a phone connected to this line and use no wireless connections with it at all, this PC (hard wired) is the only contraption connected.
Any help and advice will be greatly appreciated, Thankyou
    Les

    welcome to the forum
there is a 10 day training period after your connection is activated during which time you need to leave the router connected with no manual resets.  The router may reset (often) during training but that is normal as the equipment in the exchnage tries to find the best stable connection for your line.
after the training period is complete and you have a stable connection then you can get the latency changed to 'fast' if yours latency is 'interleaved'  changing to fast can make your line less stable than interleaved but it is the choice of gamers

  • High Watermark

say i insert 100 records in a table. high watermark on the 100th record.
now when i insert another 100 records. high watermark on the 200th record.
if i delete these later added 100 records, is there any way i can get the high watermark back to the 100th record.????
And what if i insert some records n then rollback. Does the high watermark increase only after commit and if not then does it come back down on a rollback???

The high water mark is at the datablock level, not on a row count.
Under the high water mark are the blocks that have, at some time, held data.
Blocks above the HWM have never held data.
The HWM is significant only for full table scans.
The database will examine all blocks below the HWM during a full table scan.
You can reset the HWM with an ALTER TABLE ... SHRINK SPACE statement.
Typically you DO NOT reset the HWM frequently - it is a costly operation.
If you insert, then rollback. The HWM remains higher.

  • HIGH WATERMARK and Gather Statistic

    Hi Masters,
I am trying to understand the relation between High Watermark and Gather Statistic here.
From my understanding High Watermark is the maximum block that ever been occupied by a table, regardless now the block is empty because rows already deleted.
And the way to fix it is by shrinking the table or truncating the table.
On the other hand Gather statistic is to help Oracle produce the optimum execution plan for the table. In my understanding by performing gather statistic, Oracle will know how many blocks are empty and how many blocks are filled with records, check the indexes and produce the new execution plan.
So Gather Statistic will not fix the High Watermark, but just to let Oracle know if,
for example the table occupied block 1-10, and the filled block is only block 1,3,4, and Oracle need to perform Full Table Scan. they do not need to scan up the way until block 10, just until block 4, because block 5-10 are empty.
Is this the correct understanding? Please kindly advice.
    thanks
    Lie

Statistic is nothing to do with fixing the High WatermarkYes. Statistics is to generate a "reasonably accurate" picture of the data. One application might have a table that gets 100thousand rows inserted every hour and 50thousand rows deleted every 30minutes. The expectation is that the HWM remains stable -- ie even if rows in the last N blocks are deleted, those blocks are quickly reused by new rows.
However, in most applications, rows aren't deleted from the last 'N' blocks but from different blocks (e.g. because the delete is driven by a certain key / criteria which is satisfied by rows in different blocks). {The fact that ASSM may be inserting rows from different sessions into non-contiguous blocks also doesn't help !}.
If you have a program where many rows are inserted and deleted frequently, it might make sense to regather statistics more frequently. For example ,if statistics are gathered after deleting rows such that statistics indicate that there 0 rows in the table but, say, 10thousand rows are inserted, any query that is a join with another table is likely to do a nested loop join because the optimizer expects 0 or 1 row, irrespective of the HWM, thus favouring an index. In such a case, an index to read all 10thousand rows isn't right ! So you'd have to update statistics again after the insert.
so it is not releasing the High WatermarkYou could only reset the HWM by
    TRUNCATE
    MOVE (ie rebuild table)
    DBMS_REDEFINITON (ie rebuild table)
    SHRINK

  • Flex 2 charting license watermark issue

We've purchased the flex 2 builder and flex charting. I've
installed the serials and all works fine when the application is
build using flex builder. The watermark is removed. When I build
the application using command line (which points to same SDK as in
flex builder), the watermark remains? Does anyone know how to
resolve this issue or if this is a bug?
    Thanks.

    Hi,
I had the same problem and I am also using Maven instead of
    Ant to build.
I managed to workout that you can add the mxmlc command line
argument, "-licenses.license charting XXXXXXXXXXX", to the
"flex-config.xml" using the following (Note: add it outside of the
    <compiler> tag):
    <licenses>
    <license>
    <product>charting</product>
    <serial-number>XXXXXXXXXX</serial-number>
    </license>
    </licenses>
By doing this I could continue to build my Flex code through
    maven.

  • Sun Solaris 10,Upgrade 8 or higher,having issues with VxFS,for Oracle 11gr2

A while ago, we tried doing a prototype upgrade of our main Oracle 10g db to Oracle 11gr2.
The OS on which our Oracle 10g is running is Sun Solaris 10, upgrade 4.
According to Oracle 11gr2 documentation, we need Sun Solaris 10, upgrade 6 or higher for Oracle 11g2.
The filesystem we are using is VxFS, Veritas File System.
According to our system administrator, we had issues , making Sun Solar 10, upgrade 8 , work with the VxFS filesystem.
I was wondering if anybody is running Oracle 11g2 on Sun Solaris 10 upgrade 6 or higher with VxFS file system.
At present, our Oracle db upgrade project is on a hold, because of the above issue. So your help on this , can really help us in figuring out if there is an issue between VxFS filesystem and Sun Solaris 10 OS.
    Thanks
    Ashish

    Hi Ashish,
We are not running Veritas Cluster file system.
We tried moving our Oracle 10g r2 db on ZFS ,before doing the upgrade and performance on ZFS was worst.
ZFS has certain memory parameter setting. If you did not configure that then ZFS will eat your complete system memory.
My system administrator, has gotten a copy of Solaris 10 upgrade 9 and will try that with VxFS.
I was curious to find out if folks are running Oracle 11g on Sun Solaris 10 with VxFS file system and if they had experienced any issue. If you can Install Vxfs on Oracle Soalris 10 U9, then according to me there sholudn't be any limitations for an oracle database.
Recently i installed Oracle database 11.2.0.2 on one of my test server. I have created two databases - one on ZFS and another on ASM.
    Refer:
    http://appsdbaworkshop.blogspot.com/2010/10/installation-of-11202-on-oracle-solaris.html
We dont have any performance issues. We are testing it for the performance benchmarks on both of the filesystem.
If you can Install Vxfs on Oracle Soalris 10 U9, then according to me there sholudn't be any limitations for an oracle database.

  • Lightroom 4.4 jpeg export watermark issue

Not sure abbout the older LR versions because I only tried this on LR 4.4.. After I edited my Raw images shot by Nikon D600, I'd like to export them to Jpeg format with my watermark. The watermark will not show if I exported the images in original size (6016 x 4016) as shot. However the watermark works fine if I resize the images to a smaller size, such as 1200 x 1024. Has anyone experienced the same issue? How can I work around it?

Irrespective of the rights/wrongs about exporting full resolution jpegs, the problem you describe sounds like the long-standing watermark bug. Basically there are certain circumstances whereby a text-based watermark will not show on the exported jpeg, and the factors that influence this are as follows:
The font being used for the watermark.....only certain fonts may be affected, e.g. Lucida Calligraphy is one. But even then the bug may not occur, as it also depends on:
    a) The pixel dimensions specified for the output file. The larger the pixel size, the greater the risk that the bug will bite (as you have already discovered).
    and/or
    b) The proportional size as specified in the watermark editor....again the larger the size, the more likely the bug will bite.
    So the workarounds are:
    1) Try a different font.
    2) Try reducing the pixel dimensions for the output file.
    3) Or try reducing the specified proportional size.

  • High latency issue When connected through Wifi

    Hi
I have configured wlc 2504 with cisco 3600 ap .when i connected my laptop wlan on n range,i tried to ping with my network devices am getting high latency 130ms,150ms
Can anybody provide solution for this
    by
    Veeramani.G

    Hi Veeramani,
There are actually a lot of different factors that can go into high latency type problems on your wireless deployment such as co-channel interference, interference from other wireless devices, and overall utilization on the AP/Channel.  With that said, there are a number of questions that need to be answered:
    1. Is this issue isolated to either the 802.11b/g 2.4Ghz, the 802.11a 5Ghz, or both bands?
    2.  While associated to the Access Point, in the Controller Web interface, navigate to Monitor > Access Points > 802.11a/n or 802.11b/g/n(pick the band your client is associated on) > Find the Access Point and scroll to the far right.  Hover over the small blue box and select 'Detail'.  Find the section labeled 'Load Statistics' and let me know what you see as the Channel Utilization percentage as well as the 'Attached Client Count'
    3. Since you have a 3600, I am assuming you have CleanAir enabled on them.  Navigate to Monitor > Cisco CleanAir, and see if you can pinpoint any noticeable interfering devices with high % Duty Cycle

  • High Latency Issue

    Hi,
So for the past 2 or so days I have had issues with very high latency. I have been getting a pretty much constant 300ms spiking commonly to about 400-500ms. Normally I am experiencing 31-60ms so this is a huge spike out of nowhere, I am pretty positive it is nothing inside of the house as we have not connected any new devices or moved the BT Hub 4 at all.
I have seen some users talking about something called Fast Path, although I do not know what this is if it helps resolve my latency issue then would it be possible to put me onto this.
    Thank you in advance.
