When I want to go back to my home screen, pressing the button doesn't work all of the time.  Actually not very often.  Is there something I can do to fix it?

Over the phone they would because there is no way to run a hardware diagnostic on the iPad remotely.
Powering the iPad off and on and/or a reset is no big deal or major hoops. If no change after doing so someone could always go straight to restoring with iTunes as a new iPad or not from the backup, but if this resolves it confirming there is not a hardware issue and they want the data that is included with the backup, they will be following that by restoring from the backup. If there is a problem with the backup with the problem returning after restoring from the backup, then another restore with iTunes as a new iPad will be in order. I would rather restore with iTunes twice than three times to determine if the problem is software or hardware related.

  • When I login to my homepage yahoo, why does a paypal tab open next to yahoo, and will it harm anything?

When I log on to Mozilla, my homepage is Yahoo, but next to the yahoo tab on the left is a small tab with the paypal logo, will this harm anything, and can it be stopped?

You may have "pinned the tab". Right click on it and unpin the tab to make it go away.

  • How can I open just one of my several homepages in the current tab? You can in Internet Explorer but can only open all at once in lots of tabs with Firefox?!?

Within Internet Explorer you can click on a little arrow next to the homepage icon and a dropdown appears with a list of your homepages (I have 5). So if I want to quickly check my facebook or e-mail I can click on it and then on whichever I want to visit (both are homepages). It is much quicker than using bookmarks/typing it in and I don't like the 'permanent tab' feature as I don't want them always open. Does this feature already exist?

You can create a folder with the home pages by using "Bookmark All Tabs" to open a specific page.
You can place that folder on the bookmarks toolbar or use the Bookmarks menu button that you can find in the toolbar palette to get access to that folder easily.
    * Open the Customize window via "View > Toolbars > Customize" or via "Firefox > Options > Toolbar Layout"
    * "Bookmark All Tabs" can be accessed via the right-click context menu of a tab on the tab bar.
    * "Bookmark This Page" can be accessed via the right-click context menu of that browser page.

  • I would like to be able to start typing a URL directly (with no need to clear the field first) after opening a new tab with my homepage...

I've just installed the newest desktop version of the Firefox browser because my Opera doesn't feel very well these days. I'm trying to become friends with Firefox, and that's why I've changed the new tab settings in order to have my offline homepage loaded every time I open a new tab. There is an inconvenience — when I press Ctrl+T, the cursor appears at the end of the URL. It means that when I start typing, the letters show in the address bar after the URL of my homepage, so what I need is to clear the field first.
Is there a way to get rid of this? (If it helpes, I'm currently using Windows 7.)
I would appreciate if I could just press Ctrl+T, type a URL, and press Enter when I want to go to a website different from my homepage. Thank you for your replies!

Then you can use (Ctrl+L and) Ctrl+A to select all the text in the location bar or Shift+Home/End.

  • I have a lot of tabs saved so they open when I open Firefox, but the first tab always changes into my homepage, Google. Is there any way to stop this?

I have 20+ tabs always open on Firefox and it's set to remember them. However, when I open Firefox the first tab changes from what I had open there into my homepage, Google. I can use the "go backward" thing to get to the page I had there, but since it goes back to Google every time I restart the browser that gets tedious.
The only way to solve this that I've found is to just stop trying to use the first tab and let it be Google. However, I'd like some actual solution that stops this from happening if possible.

Thanks for the reply, it seems to have solved my issue.
My tabs are normal and unpinned, I just have Firefox set to open all my current tabs. Safe Mode didn't seem to have this issue, so I disabled Classic Theme Restorer. Several restarts didn't have problems, so I enabled it again and now this isn't happening anymore. Hopefully it stays gone for good and didn't just stop momentarily.
Edit. So as soon as I posted this, it started happening again. More testing definitely points to Classic Theme Restorer as the cause, so I'll have to investigate solutions on that end.

  • How can you get your homage address to open when you open new tabs? My homepage is Google, but my new tabs always open with Yahoo.

On my old computer, all my tabs always opened to what my homepage was set to: iGoogle. Now with my new computer, my homepage is set, but all new tabs open with Yahoo! I've tried looking at tab setting but don't see a place to set it. Help!

The behavior that you have is not the default Firefox behavior, which always opens a blank tab. You will have an add-on that is causing this. Check for any Yahoo related add-ons to see if they have this option. The freeze net assistant add-on is another one that opens Yahoo in a new tab.
There are add-ons that allow you to specify what should appear on a new tab, but these may conflict with the add-on that is opening Yahoo.
    * NewTabURL - https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/newtaburl
    * New Tab Homepage - https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/new-tab-homepage
Another way of opening the home page in a new tab is to middle click on the home button in the navigation toolbar.

  • Firefox will not keep igoogle as my home page. I have done all of the steps to do so but every time I log off and then comeback, google is gone. This is a new problem; igoogle on Firefox has been my homepage for years.

iGoogle has been my homepage for years. All of a sudden when I logon I now get the Firefox welcome page not Google. I have done all of the steps Firefox indicates to make iGoogel my home page but it keeps reverting to Firefox after I logoff.

My wife has left me for four weeks, favouring to be with our son who lives 4,000 km away. I now have to cook for myself and the steaks taste horrible. What am I doing wrong?
If you do not know what I have (not) done to make the steak taste horrible, my question is as hard to answer as your question above.
Please give us more info like giving us the code that sends the page to the homepage rather than to the previous page.

  • How difficult would it be to write a code that prevents sites from changing your homepage wtihout u knowing it happened?

Today I had the unhappy experience of a company or site I visited that installed three programs I didn't want. I uninstalled all of them in windows control panel (]remove programs). This however did not solve my problem.....no matter what I did I could not get startpage to come back. I did many things like go to tools and options and type it in close out and open and it was still not there. Finally my grandson uininstalled Firefox and reinstalled it and it was back.
My question is: Can you not write a code in the software that prevents this from happening and when people install Firefox ask them if they want this feature or write an ad on. Please this problem grows every day it gets worse. Before all you had to do is change it back now one can not get rid if it so easily.
We really would love this feature ask anyone.
    Susan and TY for listening.

Thanks You for your feedback. However this is support forum, You should suggest new features trought ''Help -> Send Your opinion'' or [https://input.mozilla.org/pl/feedback/firefox/31.0/ this website].
By the way there is method described in [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Locking_preferences this support article], maybe someone using Windows will write user friendly guide how to do it.
All I can tell you is that you have to lock ''browser.startup.homepage'' to ''about:home''

  • How do I get rid of the 1/16" space between my igoogle homepage and firefox ribbon?

I am currently running Firefox 4 and have igoogle set as my homepage. Both with the previous version of Firefox and with the new one I have about a 1/16 inch blue gap/space between the top of my igoogle homepage and the bottom of the Firefox ribbon/header. How do I get rid of this eyesore? It is only when I am on my igoogle homepage that this is a problem. All other pages are seamless.

  • When I click on links, it always takes me to the websites homepage

When I click on a link for a website, instead of taking me to exactly where the link was supposed to, it sends me to the main page associated with the link. For example, if I click on a link on google for a product on amazon, instead of taking me to the actual page with the product, it just sends me to amazons homepage. How do I correct this?

You can try these steps in case of issues with web pages:
Reload web page(s) and bypass the cache to refresh possibly outdated or corrupted files.
*Hold down the Shift key and left-click the Reload button
    *Press "Ctrl + F5" or press "Ctrl + Shift + R" (Windows,Linux)
    *Press "Command + Shift + R" (Mac)
Clear the cache and cookies only from websites that cause problems.
    "Clear the Cache":
*Firefox > Preferences > Advanced > Network > Cached Web Content: "Clear Now"
"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:
*Firefox > Preferences > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"
Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).

  • The home button in the toolbar doesn't work anymore. It takes me to a search page not my homepage

instead of opening new tabs I do a lot of surfing from one tab. Before when I wanted to get back to my homepage I would click the Home button in the toolbar and it would take me back to my homepage. A nice feature. But lately when I click the home button it takes me to a search window and I have to type in yahoo and then click on yahoo login.
Anyone know how to fix this?

... and 99% of the time the site you want is at the top of results.
or hit down arrow to get to it from history...
Believe it or not but most people use the url bar for searching.
.... it should never had been that way by default(.com)

  • My homepage will load about 30% and then i'm dead in the water. when i close firefox it appears to close but when i try to reopen it tells me that it's already running. started with beta 6 i deleated and loaded ver 5 no change

when i start firefox, everything starts normal then my homepage (igoogle) starts to load, gets to about 30% and stops. from there i can click on links or bookmark and a new tab will open but no page will load. i can't get anywhere. then when i close firefox it appears to close normally but when i try to reopen firefox i get a message that firefox is still running but not responding and the only way to shut it down is to reboot. when it first occured i was running beta 6 (since it became available, i also used beta 4 & beta 5) i then uninstalled beta 6 and downloaded and installed ver 5 same problem. i then did a system restore to a time before the problem.. no luck. i'm not sure what to try next. IE & chrome both work fine

I'm in exactly the same boat - dead at blue screen, only option is to salvage using target mode.
I don't currently have access to another Mac to do target mode. I was planning to buy a new Mac this fall anyway, though. 2 questions in preparation for that purchase:
    1) Is there anything I can do before buying a new Mac to make the salvage process more successful? ie, should I spend the time and money going to the genius bar to have them help me get from totally crippled to partially crippled? (As for expertise, I'm a proficient consumer-grade user, but Apple Support walked me through the safe-boot process, etc.)
    2) Is Apple going to provide 10.5 once it is released to people who buy a new Mac in these 6 weeks pre-release?
    Thanks for your help,
    Bailey

  • Why does firefos set my homepage to google when I reopen it after it crashes when I had yahoo set as my homepage?

when I'm using my computer, Firefox will sometimes crash. When I re-open it, it will no longer have the homepage that I saved, but will instead have Google saved as my homepage. This is aggrivating because I then have to go back and rest my homepage, and all of the tabs that I had set to open up automatically. It does this EVERy time it crashes.

It sounds like you have a third party program that has taken over your search engine, home page, and/or the default new tab page. Fortunately, this can be remedied easily:
    # At the top of the Firefox window, click on the Firefox button (Tools menu in Windows XP), and then click Add-ons. The Add-ons Manager tab will open.
    # In the Add-ons Manager tab, select the Extensions panel.
    # Select the toolbar you wish to remove.
    # Click the remove button.
    # Click "Restart now" if it pops up. Your tabs will be saved and restored after the restart.
After Firefox restarts, install the [https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/searchreset/ Search Reset Tool]. This will remove the rest of the traces of this program from your Firefox.
For further information, please read [[Remove a toolbar that has taken over your Firefox search or home page]].

  • Why does Yahoo Search appear when I open a new tab, when Google is my default homepage?

Ever since I upgraded to 4.0, when I open a new tab the yahoo search page appears, but my homepage is www.google.com.
I have three tabs open at all times on my main foxfire window and always ask to restore them: Yahoo mail (my account), www.imdb.com, and http://www.timeanddate.com/calendar/. Anytime I open a new tab http://search.yahoo.com/?fr=freeze&type=W3i_NA,132,3_6,Tab%20Search,20110104,6894,0,16,0 appears, but my default homepage is set to www.google.com.
Interestingly, when I open a new window for firefox my default homepage of www.google.com appears, but http://search.yahoo.com/?fr=freeze&type=W3i_NA,132,3_6,Tab%20Search,20110104,6894,0,16,0 appears when I open new tabs.
    Why????
Very annoying, but the highest of priorities.
    Thanks.

Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
    * Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.
    * https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Safe+Mode
If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.
