Homesharing does not work
- I cannot see my home PC on the appletv
had similar problem. it would work sometimes which is maddening but at least i know it was set up right to begin with. lots of trial and error the following worked for me on several computers and apple TV. hope it helps.
A. make sure Bon Jour is running. in itunes, edit>preferences>sharing. if you see sharing on, its ok. if not will say Bon Jour is not running. to fix,
1. Right-click Computer and select Manage.
2. Select Services and Applications > Services.
3. Double-click the Bonjour service, set the Startup type to Automatic.
4. Click Apply.
5. Click the Start button.
6. Close iTunes if it is open, then restart it.
B. disable IP6. (windows 7 others are similar) This is what fixed my Apple tv not seeing my itunes library
1. Open Control Panel.
2. Choose Network and Internet.
3. Select the View network status and tasks under the Network and Sharing Center section.
4. Choose your active network connection. Usually a wireless adapter of some sort.
5. Click the Properties button.
6. If Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6) is checked, uncheck it, then click OK.
7. Click Close.
8. Restart iTunes and try to use the Home Sharing feature again.
This fixed my problem so sharing for what it's worth. i spent hours trying to solve it, so hope it helps someone else. this may be unique to my combo of wireless adapters, linksys router, norton antivirus etc. but it worked.

Out of the box, my Apple TV 2nd Gen worked really well. Netflix/Youtube/Flickr/Radio/everything. Also, "Homesharing" set up easily, and worked fine. Yesterday I updated the Apple TV software and "Homesharing" does not work now. It's switched "ON" on both sides (PC and ATV) but nothing appears under the "COMPUTERS" tab on the main screen. No signal issues, Netflix and the others works fine...other WIFI gadgets work in the same area. Firewall is set to "Allow iTunes". I've unplugged & rebooted everything involved, and nothing will bring Homesharing back. Any advice? Thanks.
Well...hm. Curiously, Homesharing has returned quite spontaneously. I left everything along for about a half hour, came back and BING! There it is. So...I gather the connection between Apple TV and iTunes needs a few minutes to get their mojos right?

My specific question: Does anyone from Apple read these discussions *and* use the information to fix iTunes?
My issue (and I've given up on this): Home Sharing does not work and it needs to be fixed. I use a Windows 7 based PC and can successfully access my iTunes library from my iPad, meaning all network requirements are met. However many artists and albums do not appear. I know this is not about the tagging/data for the albums.
I found recommendations in these forums regarding the iTunes database (.itl), that this is a sign that the database is corrupted, and how to re-create it from the xml version. I used this technique and it did fix the problem - all albums and artists appeared. But within a day or so, they disappear again, meaning the .itl file is corrupted again and has to be re-created again. Also - if the .itl file is corrupted, then why does everything appear fine in iTunes? Somewhere, somehow the data are good enough to make iTunes work properly.
Bottom line: If you can't get the basics right, then Home Sharing does not work. Some very helpful forum commenters said it could have something to do with the anti-virus software, but that is just passing the buck. I should not have to know how to do all this. I should be able to turn on Home Sharing and enjoy the music from my iPads, iPhone, etc. Imagine you have to know how fuel injection works and be able to fix it every two days just to use your car - you should be able to turn the key and drive.
There are more problems - I won't even get into how the album won't display properly on the iPad and other annoyances.
Apple? Are you listening? Home Sharing does not work. It is the opposite of the image projected of easy-to-use, people-friendly products.
I suggest you either make it work or turn off the feature.
JoeIf your database is constantly becoming corrupt, you have a problem on your computer, it is nothing to do with homesharing. The corrupt database does not affect iTunes because that uses another file. It's not passing the buck, by considering whether anti-virus software might be causing this, this is the sort of stuff anti-virus software does (although I'm not saying that's what it is in your case-I don't know at this stage), you can't hold Apple accountable for badly written software that you have put on your computer yourself.
If you can't correctly identify what is causing your problem, you are never going to fix it. -
I owned an Apple Tv and since I upgrade my internet to higher speed my Apple Tv does not work. Please someone help.
In most scenarios you shouldn't need to forward ports, however if you need to, you may be best contacting your ISP.
As with most router issues, I would recommend that you contact your ISP with details of your problem (assuming that it was your ISP that provided it to you).
There are simply too many manufacturers with different software features and settings and often different names for such features and settings, that the best advice will likely come from those that are knowledgeable about your particular router.

My play count (& last played) does not work after itunes 11
I've read many posts claiming if you turn off crossfading that you can repair the new play couny/last playedt problem in itunes 11. That does not work for me ( I have never turned on the crossfading ever ).
Now when I listen to my audio books on a shuffle (has no screen), I can't see what chapters I have already listened to (when I plug my ipod back into my desktop).
Any other advice?
KateApple needs to recognize this issues immediately, I'm a huge fan of Apple products like paulgarb said, it's a good product cause it works, every tv and mobile device in my home are linked because of homesharing, but now it does not work with no seemingly simple solution to solve the issue anywhere in site. I have always stood by Apple products and always recommend them, however I hope I did not put my foot in my mouth, my father has just spent a good amount of time scanning old family pictures and now he wishes to share them on his tv, tried multiple solutions for him with the devices he already has, none would work (ie streaming through googletv, ps3...) so I told him the simple solution is to just get an appletv for $99, he said fine get it for me for Christmas, usually I have a hard tie getting a gift for him, but now I finally have an opportunity to get him a gift I know he wants, but with homesharing issue apple has yet to acknowledge I feel appletv might be a moot point for him. Im praying that my father has not update his itunes yet. It would a great gift if apple could acknowledge the issue and fix it before the 25th.

Installed Premiere Pro CS4 but video display does not work?
I just got my copy of CS$. After installing Premiere I found two things that seem very wrong:
1) video display does not work, not even the little playback viewer next to improted film clips located on the project / sequence window. Audio works fine.
2) the UI is way too slow for my big beefy system.
My pc is a dual boot Vista-32 and XP system with 4GB of memory installed and nvidia geforce 280 graphics board with plenty of GPU power. The CS4 is installed on the Vista-32 partition. My windows XP partition on the same PC with Premiere CS2 works great and real fast.
Any ideas how to solve this CS4 install issue?

The problem is now very clear to me. The problem only shows up with video footage imported into PP CS4 encoded with "MS Video 1" codec. So this seems to be a bug. The codec is very clearly called out and supported within various menues but video with this codec just will not play in any monitor or preview window. In addition the entire product looks horrible with respect to performance while PP CS4 trys its best to play the video. Audio will start playing after about 30 seconds. And once in awhile part of video shows up at the wrong magnification before blanking out again.
My suggestion to the Adobe team: fix the bug and add some sample footage to the next release so new installations can test their systems with known footage.

A2109 tablet autorotate does not work
The autorotation on my recently purchased tablet A2109 does not work. I look in settings and the auto rotate field is not highlighted, I therefore cannot choose to turn it on.The tablet has the Android jellybean OS and I did update it but to no avail. Can anyone help?

Your tablet uses Android OS.
There is no more Flash Player for Android and there won't be another. Android is no longer compatible with Flash Player. Playing Flash content is very processor consumptive and it drains your battery, also shortening the life of it. Android (Google) recommends using either "Dolphin" or "Puffin" as your browser if you need to view Flash content with a mobile device running Android. They're both free in the GooglePlay store. These browsers use "server side" rendering to reduce the load on your device. -

I use Apex' report query tool and My query is like
select 'http://www.google.com.tr/images/firefox/mobiledownload.png' IMAGE_LOCATION from ... (a single result set for my template)
the xml data is generated with an IMAGE_LOCATION tag. I load it to word template plug-in. The Url successfully displays in the report if I make it a plain-simple field.
But when it's in the image format->web->alt text as url:{IMAGE_LOCATION} no image displayed.
I need to keep this design procedure simple so a simple word user could design a report via using just template builder plug-in. I don't wish to explore the xsl-fo area...yet.
Could you tell me why I can't get this url:{IMAGE_LOCATION} to work?

when you see the URL corrently as long as you have it as a plain text field, the XML tag and the
referencing seem to be OK.
Here are two thought - the issue might be one of these ...
How did you insert the dummy image into the word document - did you do it via "insert" or
via "link to file". "Link to File" does not work - you must choose the simple "insert".
Another one: Does your BI Server have a connection to the internet - is the proxy server correctly set ..?

Tap on the event to open the event. Click the 'Edit' button in the event bubble, then press the 'Delete Event' button at the bottom of the Edit pop-up. It's a little different for events that come through Microsoft Exchange, you tap the event to bring up bubble and click the 'Details' button, and then press 'Decline' to remove the event.

All the major functions of this printer work fine in Yosemite, but not the "HP laserjet professional utility"The driver shown in System Preferences/Printer for my Laserjet P1606dn is version 6.9 (I am unable to knowif this is the version provided by the latest HP printer update, which was installed via the App Store.) I note this exact issue was raised for OSX7 in November 2014, but for a diiferent model printer. The solution offered in that thread, 4694464,may not be applicable now, so I seek advice In the panel for my 1606dn within System Preferences/Printer offers a button to launch the "HP Professional Utility", but when clicked an app launches called the "HP Professional Utility" but then nothing. Hey , Welcome to the HP forums! I hope you enjoy your stay here. I see that you are having some issues with adjusting the power save mode settings on your Laserjet P1606dn. I can help with that. First make sure the printer is plugged directly into a wall outlet and not a surge protector. If the printer is connected with an ethernet cable to a router then you may be able to do this instead:On the printer hold down the button that looks like a sheet of paper with an arrow on it for about ten seconds. This should print out a report.On your Mac open a browser and enter the printer's IP Address in your Address bar exactly as it appears on the page. When you are finished click on enter/return.This will open the printer's Embedded Web Server. In here you may be able to find some options to adjust the power save settings.If the above does not work then this troubleshooting may assist you with the utility:Go to Applications, and if you have it open the Hewlett-Packard folder.Run HP Uninstaller to remove any existing software from you system.On the Mac go to the Apple icon and Sytem Preferences.Open Printers and Scanners.Hold down the Command key and click on the picture of your printer on the left.Click on Reset Printing System.Go to Applications and Utilities.Open Disk Utility.Click on Macintosh HD on the left.Click on Verify Disk Permissions. I have recently upgraded my iMac Intel G5 iSight (iMac5,1) to OS 10.6.8 and now the internal mic does not work with skype or facebook. I can here static when playing back clips. Do I need to update firmware or reload old system parts. I have zapped PRAM. The blue indicator in system audio panel will appear for a second as I slide the bar for internal mic but then it disappears. Is there a fix?
The sound seems very faint but can here static on playback.
