Hook up home ste

I will try to give as much info as possible,I have a sound blaster li've xgamer card which has fi've jacks in the rear including the digital outI am going to a reciever which is somewhat new but does not have digital in. Therefore I need to hookup with either red/white or through 5. input. This is only for music so surround sound is not needed but I do have 4 speakers . first do I need a stereo 3.5mm>rca or a mono one? or more for that matter? so say the front jack from sound card goes to red/white rca, where do I plug that in?my thought is if I plug it into say dvd then those will be filled and there will be no room for the rear signal from the card.then I think I can use the 5. input?jacks on the receiver.using front signal from card for front input and rear from card to surround inputs. but then I find the surround speakers play like a surround movie and are at a lower level or only play certain sounds. hope this is not too confusing? because I am still baffled. buying a reciever with digital in I know would solve the whole issue but well...

  • Connecting Zen Touch to home ste

Is the only option the RCA cables from the headphone jack to the audio receiver?Or is anyone aware of a cable that connects to the mini-USB jack on the player to RCA cables to the audio receiver?I saw this but not sure it will work:?http://www.shop.com/op/~Motorola_L6_...6?sourceid=298

It is very easy to connect your MP3 player to your stereo. Go to Radio Shack and tell them you would like to have a Y-Splitter Cable for your MP3 player, in order to hook it up to your home stereo. The person you ask will take you right to them. Just buy one for each stereo at whatever lenght you think you may need. I got mine at around six feet long.
You then hook the red and white jacks up to one of your auxiliary terminals on your stereo, and plug the other end into your headphone jack.
Just cut on your stereo and set it to the auxiliary terminal you chose, and then cut your MP3 player on. You will have to tweak the volume, as MP3 players tend to not be as loud as CD's and such. I keep my Zen Micro at around 20, and adjust the stereo volume to the level I want at the time.

  • Sound from pc to home ste

:smileyindifferent:how can i have sound coming from my pc to stereo come out of home stereo only an not pc speakers.
    thanks

Uh, there's TONS of options, depending on what inputs you have on your stereo. But most often (and the simpelest) is a minijack on the output of your soundscard to a a RCA input on your stereo most often labeled "Aux" (which in most cases has a White and Red female RCA receptor) to connect a minijack-to-dual RCA cable).

  • Listening to mp3 player through home ste

I'm interested in listening to the music I have on my mp3 player through my stereo in my room. I have a wireless FM transmitter that I use in my car, but it runs out of batteries pretty quick. I was wondering if there was some kind of cord/adapter I could purchase that would maybe hook into the usb port or headphone jack and connect to my stereo.
    Thanks,
    Kyle

or http://www.radioshack.com/product.as...ct%5Fid=42-235 or would they work
If you're trying to connect your Micro to your stereo, the cheaper one of those won't work - you need a headphone jack at one end...

  • Zen Xtra - help connecting to home ste

hi,?i was hoping that someone would be able to recommend a way to connect my 30gb Zen Xtra to my home stereo....what brand of cable works best, what type of cable (y split) etc. thanks?

Any "y audio cable" should work. Just plug the single end into your Zen and the left/right audio plugs into an aux input in your stereo receiveer....voila!?Should cost you about 5 bucks at a best buy type store.

  • Zen Micro or Nomand Xtra permanently hooked up to ste

    Hello,
I'm considering buying either a Zen Micro, or a Nomad Xtra as a substitute for a CD player. I plan on ripping all my cd's and getting rid of them. My question is:
Can I have either of those two players hooked up permanently to my stereo (basically connected via the mini-plug, and always plugged in using the AC adapter). Will this harm the player at all?
    Thanks.

Thanks SSR. I'm leaning towards the Zen Xtra, mostly based on price. I read the user manual, and found a small mention of this in the FAQ section:
    <B><FONT face=Arial-BoldMT>
align=left>Should I leave my player plugged into the AC adapter?
</B><FONT face=ArialMT>No, you should not. After charging the battery or using the player, disconnect it from the AC power adapter. Leaving it plugged in leads to heat buildup, which is not good for the player or the battery.
align=left><FONT face=ArialMT>Have you experienced any heat buildup as mentioned?

  • Using IR on the mainboard.

I'm developing a Main interface on my personal TV-comp project. Is there a way to use the motherboards IR -pins? It's main purpose is to receive signals from a remote controller, and that way control the interface and launch different programs on the comp.

Google didn't find anything.. just how to use IR trough COMM-ports or USB, but I don't want to pay 60-70 euros for equipments.
So you're devloping some kind of dongle for your PC
that will allow you to control it with a remote? I
wouldn't go hooking a home electronics project to
your motherboard. Maybe using a USB interface would
be safer...That's safe, you can buy a receiver with 2 euros(3$?) which uses motherboards IR-pins from a electronics shop. I just wanted to know that can I get those signals with java directly.
So now I have to code a "driver" for the pins and somehow sniff those signals to my interface. Can you give me a hint which way to look?

  • Old projection tv. No audio. Now what?

Got ATV3 for newer flat panel hooked to home theater. Thought I could just hook up my ATV2 to older Toshiba projection TV. Got picture no sound. What's my easiest and least expensive option?  Kids are tired of supplying the audio for their movies.

DVI does not support audio, it may also not support HDCP, which may result in problems when you try to play protected content on your projector.
To work around it not supporting audio you will need to connect the optical digital output from the Apple TV to a sound system or speakers. If whatever you are connecting it to does not support optical digital, you will need a DAC (Example Only - Not a recommendation or suggestion that this is suitable in your circumstances) to convert the signal to analogue.

  • Optical signal splitting problem

I have recently upgraded my TV and am trying to get everything hooked back up right. My old set up was an analog TV with built in speakers and also hooked up to a home stereo system using RCA cables for movie watching.
When I bought the new TV from Best Buy I told the sales person of my hook up plans and was told this was not possible. I thought I would try anyway but maybe this hookup is not possible.
I have cox cable with a Cisco HD cable box hooked up with HDMI cable to the Samsung HD LED 60" (model UN60H6000FXZA). I also have a PS3 hooked to another HDMI port on the TV. I was aware of the on line reviews about the built in speakers not sounding that good and that was true, but I thought I would be able to use a sound bar for a solution.
I first tried hooking the home stereo up using the audio out jack with a headphone plug to RCA adapter. This worked but the sound was amplified and sounded distorted. I then found a optical to RCA powered adapter that sounds great. The only problem is the remote will not control the volume but not that big of a deal. Now I tried to add a sound bar to the setup and am running into problems. The sound bar (Phillips HSB231A) wants an optical or digital coaxial input. I thought I would be able to split the optical signal and sent to both devices but this doesn't seem to work. I have tried the non powered mirror type splitter which didn't work. I the tried the non powered switch which also didn't work. Then I tried a powered Inday 1-4 splitter and this didn't work either. I tried all my cables to rule out any bad cables. Are some optical signals to weak to split?  Do you have any ideas of other things to try?
     Thank You for any advice.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Thank you for the idea. I will try this. It would free up the optical out for the stereo. I still want to use the stereo for movies. It has MUCH better sound than any sound bar could deliver but a little much for watching the news! It is a 1980's pioneer bought in Germany. These amps were not sold in the US. 480 watts, .012 THD, Pioneer and Klipsh speakers. You could run a small bar with this thing. The sound is incredible. It has some copper in the amp, it weighs about 75 lbs. I know its old school but as long as it works I will use it on occasion. I have it hooked to the computer also. I can,t remember the last time i played an album,cd or casstte tape. Thanks again for the idea, I will get another HDMI cable and try that

  • Desktop/Finder keeps rebooting after upgraded to Maverick (mac mini hooked up to a home theater system)

My desktop keeps rebooting ever since I upgraded to Mavericks.
Current setup, Mac Mini hooked up to home theater (Panasonic SC-HTB20) that is then hooked up to my Panasonic Plasma TV.
I usually leave my Mac Mini on running and at least once a day when I turn on the TV I can see that my desktop was rebooted. Firefox and Chrome will say that it wasn't shut down properly and if I want to restore my previous session. Also some times when I switched the input to watch TV and switch back, all my windows will be scattered out of place. For example Chrome will be in the top left hand corner to the point that it's almost minimized and I wouldn't be able to move it as well. Only thing I can do is close out these applications and relaunch them. It doesn't appear that the OS actually crashed, but more like the desktop/finder itself crashed. Cause once in a while I will switch back or turn on the TV and the screen will stay black for a few minutes then I'll see the cursor in the top right hand corner. After that I will start to see the desktop and my application start loading. It doesn't go through the regular process of rebooting where you see the Apple logo so I don't think the OS actually crashed but I could be wrong.
For some reason it seems like Maverick doesn't like the home theater system. An almost guarantee way to reproduce the issue is to wait for the home theater to turn off after it's been inactive for a while. If I turn it on the home theater to have the audio coming from it I will see the desktop goes black immediately then the whole desktop reboot process I mentioned above will kick in.
Never had any of these issues on 10.7 before I upgraded to Maverick.
Anybody have any suggestion? I really don't want to format and downgrade back to 10.7.
    Thanks

    Sounds like a kernel panic.
If you post the report we could have a go at deciphering it.

Did you by chance have photo stream turned on? If so then they might be there. When you restored your phone it deleted everything and they will be unretreivable from your computer.
