HOT TYPE or LIVE TYPE

In the next version , would it not be possible to be able to make a text box "LIVE" or HOT" with some basic parameters that are automatically generated, such as seen when printing like...
NAME of File
DATE
TIME
COLORS
and a user defined,
This would save so much time. Every studio I know creates their own TAG or SHIRT TAIL with
Information on which designer worked on the job, version of job, colors in job, etc. It would be great if this could be automatically updated. Especially when most of this info today can be applied
thru printing.

Hi Mr/Ms Hi
you cannt compare the performance for these two 'type' & 'like'.
Like - it works like as a data type. like as a user defined data type.
Type - it works like as a standard data type.
pls reward pts.

  • Another "is this too hot" type question....

I have a week 13 MBP and it's slowly getting hotter everytime i use it. It used to idle around or even under 50 degrees C and never really broke 60 degrees C. But i've notticed that it's getting even hotter lately (when i touch the case it feels a lot hotter than it used to) and when i just ran the latest version (0.91) core duo temp it told me i was running at 70 degrees C with under 5% CPU usage. Now i know this is really too hot for that little CPU, not even running at max speed. But is it any worse off than most people out there and would apple do anything about it. Any chance i would get that new logic board like that one guy and fix the whine as well (mines really not too bad so i'm not complaining). I'm heading down towards the Apple store where i bought it this weekend. I might take it there and ask the genius. Any Thoughts????

Well, I've asked the same question about the temperature and apparently Intel says that these temperatures are fine. In fact, your MBP is probably set to turn on its fans just once it hits 70 degrees C. I also think that the processor temp has to do with more than simply the load that it is dealing with - consider the temperature and lighting conditions of your environment (a hot, bright, sunny day will more likely increase the temp of your MBP). My cpu temp variates from between ~50 C to just over 70 C, but I believe that It's gone as high as 78 once. Everything that I've read and all the research that I've done on this issue seems to point to the same resolution: relax. Your MBP was built to handle the temperatures it runs at, and do so well. If you are intent on speaking to the Mac Genius about this topic, it can't hurt, but my guess is that he'll tell you the same. Best regards.

  • Too hot where I live?

    Hi,
When I first had my MAC PRO (late 2006) everything was working fine. 6 months later, it started freezing for whatever i was doing. After a few research, I found out it was because of the temperature (I live in a very hot part of Brazil), so I decided to open the case and use an extern ventilator to cool it. It's working fine most of the time, but when I use a program that is heavy on the CPU (mainly games)it freezes again. Is there any oficial report from apple that confirms that the MAC PRO is hot sensitive. Before, I was using a G4 in a close room (recording studiio) and it never had this kind of problem, that's why I find it weird.

The normal speed (depending on the exact model of Mac Pro and what it's doing) for the fans will be something on the order of:
    Exhaust: 600
    CPU: 500
    Power Supply: 600
    HD/Expansion: 500
When the system is working harder, the fans should speed up. Watch the fan speed as you use the system and see how they behave. If they speed up as the system heats up, they're probably working correctly. If they don't speed up, or aren't running at all, then of course something's wrong.
You may also want to watch the temperatures of the various components and see if the system fails when a given component reaches a given temperature. If it does and you can reproduce the fault - that is, the computer fails every time that component reaches that temperature, then you can post back listing the component and the temperature at which it's failing and someone here can probably tell you if that's expected given the temperature, or if it's failing at too low a temperature which would indicate a fault.

  • C 3-01, heated while charging

I bought Nokia C3-01 few days ago. It is good combination touch and type. But I am facing problem that when I plugin charger, it start heating.  Please, Nokia, keep in note this problem for next software update.
    Nokia C3-01

    MEA-7

@noki_c3_01: It's normal that the phone gets somewhat hotter while charging. It doesn't mean that it's something wrong with it.
    @husnainpku:
It's difficult to know for us how hot it is as I guess it's a matter of opinions. However, if you are afraid it's something wrong with it I suggest you take it to a Nokia care point for an inspection. Make sure you take the battery and charger with you so they are able to test those parts.
It's also normal that the phone gets a bit hotter when using many applications at the same time, web browsing, during calls etc. As long as it just a little increase it shouldn't be a big issue. I guess it allso depends on the general temps at where you are. If it's very hot where you live, the phone will become somewhat hotter.

  • Upgraded to 10.6.6, Epson C88+ is outputting at ~50% scale

Tried resetting and reinstalling the driver. Another 1 hour and 35 minutes to go downloading the "EPSONPrinterDrivers2.6.dmg" file from apple.com (846MB? Wow.).
The file I'm printing from Illustrator outputs correctly, but it's very small on the page, and all the settings are correct for full-size 8.5x11" output as usual. The Epson website was cryptic, to say the least. I downloaded the two DMGs they said applied, I installed one and the other will not load (epson12018.dmg). Great.
Trying to cheat and increase the scale to 200% results in the same AREA as the tiny output but not the entire image, just a zoomed-in version of the image.
Of course I batted out a number of files in Illustrator without saving as I printed, so I need to go back and re-create the work that was lost in the queue when I reset the printing system and reinstalled the C88+ driver I had.
This is frustrating and not what I've come to expect from an Apple OS upgrade. That I paid for. That's been giving me headaches all week. [sound of teeth gnashing]

Sounded good, tried it three times, still getting miniature output.
Deleted com.apple.print.PrinterProxy.plist and com.apple/print.PrintingPrefs.plist and com.apple.print.add.plist and a couple of Epson com.* items which have not regenerated. Reset the printer in System Prefs. Rebooted. Rebooted the printer.
Still getting dinky output, like I had an 8.5x11 platen press which is suddenly a 3x5 platen press (old hot type reference).
Any ideas? Other than "buy a new printer"? Did Epson not get a heads-up that Apple was going to be rolling out an upgraded OS?
This is too Windows-like and the stuff will hit the fan when Kid #1 or Kid #2 asks to print something and I get to tell them that the printer no longer functions because I upgraded the OS...

  • Oracle backup problem

    hi,
we have installed oracle9.2 on win server 2003 . after 2 months it crashed. now we have backup of only oracle folder. so how can i retrive database or tables form it. as responsible person didn't take any type export or cold or hot type of backup utility of oracle. he just copies oracle folder form c: of Win server 2003. now how to restore data form that folder.
    reply.
    thanking you

The only choise you have is to restore your backup and to hope that the database was in those folders. Otherwise you have lost your database.
After the restore you must only restart the instance as usually.

  • Discoverability in iBookstore from the iPad?

I've been doing a bit of research for the past few weeks about marketing titles published to the iBookstore.  I'm a bit puzzled by what appears to be an "invitation only" model to discoverability on the iBookstore when browsing from the iPad.  I'm pretty sure that I'm missing something here, so any tips would be appreciated!
First, I can't find ANY way to browse the full set of titles in the iBookstore beyond the first 100 or so in the various curated categories that Apple chooses to create and maintain.  For example "Beautiful Children's Books",  "Books About Film", etc.  All of these catebories appear to be populated at Apple's discretion.
When drilling down into a top-level category, such as Fiction, Nonfiction, Children & Teens, etc., once again the only groupings appear to be curated and hand-picked sub-categories.
It's not clear to me whether even the few "What's Hot" type categories are algorithmic or hand-selected.
From iTunes on a Mac/PC, things are a better.  The full set of categories is reachable and is sorted by default using some formula that I'm assuming represents popularity.  You can also sort by title.
Since most people who want to read a book on an iPad use the iPad interface to the iBookstore, what options are there to a) begging Apple to include you in a curated cateogry or b) searching for the book by its title?
Thanks for any help that you can give!

I have the same or at least similar issue.  If I'm looking for a new book in a given category, say mysteries and thrillers, I can see a list of 100 "new release" books that seem to be curated picks by iBooks.  No where can I see a list of all new releases, so unless I know the title of a newly released book, it's unlikely I will com across it by just browsing iBooks.  Compare this to Amazon where I can view every single kindle book released in the last 30 days, 90 days or ever.  Kindle makes it much easier to browse all titles available.  They also provide subcategories, which helps with browsing. So the question(s) in all of this are:
    1.  Is there a way to see all new releases based on publication date, not just the 100 books placed on the seemingly curated list?
    2.  Is there a way to just browse all books, not just new releases or a curated subsets, without searching by specific author or knowing the book title?  In other words, can I sort all books in a category based on ratings/reviews, pub date, best selling, etc?
Right now, I find myself browsing books on the amazon kindle site then coming to iBooks to look up/buy the book because the browsing options in iBooks are so limited.  I feel like I'm only seeing a small subset of the books available on iBooks and as a result, missing out on some good reads and/or recent releases by my favorite authors because they don't make the curated lists.  Maybe I should just go back to using theKindle app for iPad.

  • Could my months-old kernel panic be related to overheating/fan troubles?

Greetings, all. At a certain point last year my computer's only functionality was a kernel panic. Startup and restart would yield either a crash in the middle of booting, or a KP after the computer was up and running for only a minute. All checks have been undertaken and all forms of trouble-shooting has been done: the hard drive was replaced, the hardware checks were done with the diagnostic disk that came with the unit, the AppleCare plan, and TechTool Pro (no hardware issues were detected; RAM was checked again and again and slots were switched, etc.).
And then it worked. The unit was working for a full day without hitches or glitches; it was like brand new. And then the next day the KP returned like before, and this is with a new hard drive and a whole new install of the OS (most recent one is Tiger). I live in Los Angeles, and my theory is that on the particular day it worked like a charm was a day on which the air conditioning made my home quite cool, and it was on for a full day previous to this. It is not uncommonly hot where I live, and I feel that the computer's heat management system has taken a turn for the worse, and the fact that it worked was aided by the cool air of my home.
This is the only logical issue that I can think that would remain. This is a dual 1 GHZ Quicksilver purchased in January of 2002, and the KP problem has been the <only> remotely serious issue I have encountered. If I am correct that I might have a usable computer if the heat issue is sorted out, what equipment do I need to buy? I have searched this forum for advice and some have told others to buy a new fan, but is that the extent of my needs? Is the motherboard becoming too hot and if so would just a new fan do the trick?
I would appreciate it if some of you kind users would tell me what is thought of my theory re: the air conditioning (and if you wonder why I just do not have the air on more often, it is not needed where I am except for the most scorching days of the year, which will not come again for months). And if heat is my worry, any advice on what to buy and from which manufacturer would be much appreciated.
I have tried what I believe to be every other obvious and not so obvious diagnostic check and the above is the only one that holds any water. It has become apparent that it cannot be attributed to software, as it froze upon either boot-up or not even using an application, and since the drive was replaced with a new OS, I can't see how it's OS or drive related (to test the theory that perhaps it's my install disk of Tiger, I went and did clean installs of previous revs of OS X and the KP is there, regardless).
    Thank you!
    Vince

  • IMac G5 keeps freezing/crashing. SMU reset resulted in a loud fan noise.

I have a refubished iMac G5 OS X 10.6.8 desktop that was purchased in Aug, 2006.  Recently it has been either freezing, shutting down completely, or the display will just shut off multiple times per day 20+ times/day.  I am not interested in purchasing the $49 help from Apple.  Is it time for a new computer?
    I've been attempting some troubleshooting:
I have plenty of RAM- we installed more memory about 8 months ago.
Temperature running at 40 degrees C
I reset the SMU but now am hearing a loud fan sound and there is air blowing out of the horizontal vent in back of the desktop- which does not typically happen.  The computer has not crashed since I reset the SMU 20 minutes ago.  I'm worried about the noise.
Also, it has been really hot where I live, with a heat index of 110 today and I don't have air conditioning.  Current indoor air temp is about 86 degrees F.
Also, I have been seeing thin horizontal stripes across my screen for the past few months, related or unrelated issue?
    Thanks for the help!

Not that this will cure it but it may help:
As old as your iMac is, have you cleaned out the dust? Dust buildup can lead to over heating issues. Remove any and all things plugged into it including the power cord, Remove the RAM access grille. Vacuum all openings starting with the RAM access area (air intake). Vacuum all ports and plugs, DVD slot and the opening across the top of the rear of the body. Blow compressed air through all your openings and vacuum again to remove any dust you loosend. Reinstall the RAM grille. Plug in the keyboard and mouse if not blue tooth. Insert power cord...
You are now in a perfect position to do a
    SMC RESET
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964
    Shut down the computer.
Unplug the computer's power cord and ALL peripherals.
    Wait 15 seconds.
    Attach the computers power cable.
Wait another 5 seconds and press the power button to turn on the computer.
It is the 5 second timing that initiates the reset.
Here is a link to a Widget to monitor your temps and other operations:

  • HELP! G5 not booting! red light turns on in the processor area

    hi,
i have a dual 2.5ghz g5 and for a couple of days it's been acting weird. when i try to boot i hear the chime and before it finishes, it abruptly mutes and a red light goes on in the upper part of the processors area. I have seen through the side of the computer that the light is somewhere close to the processors. The computer does not continue booting, it just remains with the red light on and the fans working at normal speed.
At first it happened one time (yesterday) and then it worked normally. Now it won't work at all, even after letting it rest for a couple of hours.
Does anyone know what that light means? I hadn't seen it before. Could it be that the processor is running too hot? I live in a hot area and there's been a hot wave these days. It's reaching 87 F degrees inside but I believe that's within the correct operating temp. range.
Any help will be appreciated, and the fastest you can answer the better because i really need that computer!!
I hope it's nothing serious that require taking it to repair because I don't live near any repair service. Please help me!
    thanks in advance!
dual 2.5 Ghz Power Mac G5   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

I don't think it is a heat related issue. I've got the same problem with a dual 2.7GHz G5 that's operating in a temperature controlled machine room. Or if it is a heat related issue, it's not an environmental temp problem, but some failing component.
I ran Hardware Test on it and it indicates that everything is fine with it, but as soon as it is rebooted, it does that half chime and then nothing. No status lights on the logic board either.
Once it's on, it seems to stay operating just fine. shrug

  • PB Super drive won't accept discs

Thanks to anyone who reads this.
My PB's superdrive will take the disc into the drive, sounds like it is trying to mount it on the hard drive, then ejects it. I tried running disk utility (for grins), ran MacJanitor, I even tried the "sleep the PB and knock on the back of the SD" trick twice - no avail.
Is a trip to the Genius Bar in my future? And yes, it is out of warranty. I recently shelled out almost $400 to have the logic board replaced...time for a new mac?
    Thanks in advance...

My 2.5 year old PB 15" 1.5GHz has a Matshita DVD-R UJ-825 which has started to reject dvds, audio cds etc. I thought it may need cleaning to used the dvd cd cleaner which eventually it accepted after several tries. Doesn't like the dvd although sometimes it starts to accept it then the idvd software opens then crashes. I managed to take some word doc files from a data cd but it was thinking about it for a while.
I have carried out the previous advice:
    reset PMU
made sure all the discs were clean
let the machine cool as I thought the problem was because it was getting hot.
I live in Spain at the moment, bought the laptop in the UK. So we don't have any Apple shops for further advice etc.
Not sure what else to do?
    Any advice gratefully received.

  • Tips for reducing aircon noise...anybody?

It's very hot where I live and record, so I have to keep the aircon on for most of the time. Even if I switch it off for a couple of minutes it gets too hot.
The obvious problem is that it's noisy when I'm doing vocals, acoustic guitar etc-even doing quiet mixing is a pain.
You have to keep in mind that it's very hard to find ready made acoustic/soundproofing gear here. I might be able to get a vocal isolator etc shipped here, but not entirely sure they will do it-do vocal isolators work?. I'm also quite bad at DIY.
Has anybody had this problem and dealt with it easily and cheaply?

Where is "Here"? That is a very subjective question, my friend. Right now I AM Here... but you are in another "Here", or you could see me...groovy... DIY is the wave of the NOW, man...

Oh yes, I have dealt with the Ice Queen. she is not cheap to appease, if you want her to be around. Check the term "A/C muffler assembly". Otherwise, check the term "way to much moolah to fix-it"

  • Erase mba ssd from Gparted, what about EFI?

Hello everybody and excuse my mistakes in english (not my native language). My macbook air (a1304, late 2008) became completely corrupted. Apple reseller told me about a problem on the drive. That´s an ssd (samsung 128 gb original) and DiskWarrior and disk utikity couldn´t do anything about it. So I googled bout it and understood erasing from Gparted (linux) would be a possible way. But, it has to be done plugging the drive hot; bootin from live cd with it unplugged and pluggin it before erasing. That´s risky, I know, but my first question is what to do with the 200mb efi partition. I cannot clone it with carbon copy, superduper, or time machine. So my question is; is it necesseary to clone it or would it be after generated in a common OSX installation? thanks a lot

Hi, I'm seeing intermittent failure of the Samsung SSD in my 11" 2011 Macbook air. The logic board was replaced under warranty (2 years) but not the SSD (1 year, expired) and the problem persists.
I'm considering replacing the SSD with an OWC drive but I don't want to do that if the problem is with some cabling somewhere. However your description of the problem doesn't really match the 2011 MBA teardown photos on the internet - there's no cabling related to the SSD, which slots directly into the logic board.
Is the common problem you're talking about applicable to the macbook air?
    Thanks
Not sure if cabling is the issue, hope its not.  After my suspected SSD failure (which I don't think it was) my graphics failed (the graphics is integrated into the logic board and required its replacement - thank goodness for AppleCare).  So I'm not sure if what I was experiencing was the pre-failure of the graphics.  I'm back up and running, have reinstalled the SSD and we'll see if there's some connection to it and the graphics failure (doubtful).  There so much of a performance increase from the SSD it's hard not to keep it in the computer; even a hybrid SSD was noticibly slower.
    Figures I'd get a 2011 with a cable issue...

  • KT6V and sempron 2800 problem

I have updated the bios to the latest version, but if i set the fsb to 166 the conputer fails as it starts to load windows, it doesnt display the correct information in post.
if i set it to 133 and run it as a 2300 (i think) it runs fine, but at 62c on idle!!!!!
any idea what may be going wrong here. i am going to do some more trouble shooting using my hardware which is kinda simliar, but i would rather not have to go through that hassle.

yeah it was on back to front, i am hating myself for that, it is down to the low 50s. still high but its really hot where i live.
i still cant put the fsb up to 166 to run it as a 2800. but ill work on it more when i can swap bits with my hardware.
