Hourly limits when mass mailing via Hub Transport Severs

Hi Everyone
I need to know what are the parameters to be configured on an Exchange 2007 Hub transport server for:
- Altering the amount of mails that can sent by an application on an hourly rate externally via SMTP (my organisation wishes to send 10000 mails every hour)
- each mail must have a maximum size of 270Kb
Does anybody know:
(1) What are the two values that can be modified on the Hub Transport server
(2) How can we monitor performance impact? particularly if we increase the hourly rate from say 10000 to  15000?
Many thanks in advance

Hi,
Based on my knowledge, there is no value in Transport server to limit the maximum number of emails sending outbound per hour. For more information about it, please refer to transport server limits part in the following article:
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa997166(v=exchg.80).aspx
Hub Transport Server Properties > Limits Tab (RTM)
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb629486(v=exchg.80).aspx
As for the max message size limits for all emails, there are some parameters to set it in global limits (Set-Transportconfig –maxreceivesize 270Kb –maxsendsize 270Kb),connector limits (MaxMessageSize in
Set-SendConnector cmdlet), server side limits (Set-TransportServer cmdlet)and user limits
(Set-Mailbox -Identity Janas –MaxSendSize
). For more information about Exchange 2007 Message Size Limits, please refer to:
http://www.msexchange.org/articles-tutorials/exchange-server-2007/management-administration/exchange-2007-message-size-limits.html
If you have any Exchange issue, please ask a question in Microsoft Exchange forum for more suggestions:

  • Surname not recognized when sending mail via FM

    Hi SDN,
I am on WAS 6.20. SRM System.
I have a BSP, which sends mail via FM SO_NEW_DOCUMENT_ATT_SEND_API1.
when putting a normal dialog user in the ICF Service of the BSP I get a mail in my email client, which shows as sender the forename, surname of the corresponding SU01 SAP User. When putting service user in the ICF service the sender, which shows up in my email-client is always 'www' even though I changed fore- and surname of this service user. Why is that?
    regards, matthias

  • Create Hyperlink when sending mail via Outlook

    Hi all,
I want to mail a hyperlink from within function module via outlook. Creating the hyperlink and starting function <new mail> in outlook works just fine. But when the document (word, pdf, etc.) contains blanks, the hyperlink gets interrupted.
    For example:
h:\temp\word1.doc (this will work just fine).
h:\temp\word 1.doc (error when displaying hyperlink in body of new mail).
I know that sometimes on the internet blanks are displayed as %20. But how to insert this in an ABAP statement using CONCATENATE?
    Best regards,
    Micky.

    Hi Micky,
Try using replace command... to replace SPACE with %20
    Regards,
    Raj
    See the example below:
    REPLACE
    Basic form
    REPLACE f WITH g INTO h.
    Addition
... LENGTH len (length specification for field f )
    Effect
Replaces the first occurrence of the contents of field f in field h with the contents of field g . All fields are handled in their defined length; this means that closing blanks are not ignored.
The return code value indicates whether the string f was found in h and replaced by g :
    SY-SUBRC = 0 String replaced.
    SY_SUBRC = 4 String not replaced.
    Example
    DATA FIELD(10).
    MOVE 'ABCB' TO FIELD.
REPLACE 'B' WITH 'string' INTO FIELD.
    returns:
    FIELD = 'AstringCB', SY-SUBRC = 0

  • Edge server not forwarding mail to Hub Transport server

I have an exchange 2010 VM with latest SP hosting around 500 mailboxes. I wanted to take some of the load off this box so I set up another box, loaded Exchange 2010 with the latest service pack and loaded the Edge Transport role on it. I ran the new-edgesubscription
cmdlet, copied the file to the HT server and created a new subscription. I have several sites in AD so I chose the site that corresponded to the IP address of the Exchange server. My problem is there is no mail passing between the servers. Here is what I have
    tried so far:
I can telnet to port 25 on both the HT and Edge servers, and port 50636 on edge server.
I can ping NetBIOS and DNS name of both machines from each other.
DNS suffix was added PRIOR to installing edge transport role.
Running get-edgesubscription on HT shows the Site being used, but on Edge site is blank, is this normal?
If I run start-edgesynchronization, I can see the data being replicated to the edge.
If I run test-edgesynchronization from HT, the status is Normal.
If I run get-exchangecertificate and look at the cert thumbprint on both boxes, they are different (from what I read they should be?)
Two Send connectors are created and they are both replicated to the edge, along with accepted domains.
Initially, when I created the subscription, I looked in event viewer on HT and saw Event ID 10104 and 1024, but running start-synchronization seemed to replicate so I thought it may be a one time error. This may be my issue. I have a 3rd party cert on my
HT server to accept mail and allow TLS to mail.mydomain.com. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm ready to pull my hair out. I have reloaded this edge server twice trying to figure out what is going on.
    Jeff Green MCSA/MCSE 2003, MCITP 2008

OK, first off, I'm not sure that adding an Edge server is going to reduce any of the load on your mailbox server - all emails bound for your system are going to hit the mailbox server anyway, so unless you have huge amounts of spam and viruses bound for
your system, the savings will be negligible.
That being said, it's not a bad thing to deploy an Edge Server.  So let's see if we can figure out why yours isn't working as expected.  When you deployed the edge, did you follow all the steps in the following two articles?
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb124011(v=exchg.141).aspx
    http://exchangeserverpro.com/exchange-2010-install-edge-transport-server/
If you did follow the steps, do you now see the Edge Server in the list of Exchange servers in the EMC under Server Configuration (not one of its subnodes)?

  • Different thread/memory limits when running Java via Windows Service?

My company is developing a Java application that employs a "black-box" interface, which generates several memory-intensive threads. When we run the application via a batch file, the threads seem to run in parallel on a quad-core server. However, when we install the application as a Windows Service on the same server, it appears that we hit a hard limit of 35 threads, and the process pegs out one of the server's CPU's at 100%. Does anyone know why we don't see the parallelism when we run it as a Windows Service? Does anyone know if Windows imposes different memory or thread restrictions on services, as opposed to normal desktop applications?

  • SBS2011 Hub Transport

I did a migration from SBS2003 to SBS2011.  Everything went smoothly but when I go into exchange I see 3 receive connectors in Exchange.  One that says "Default (Servername)", another that says "Windows SBS Fax Sharepoint Receive
(Servername)", and one that says "Windows SBS Internet Receive (Servername)".  The company is small and we don't use the fax feature or sharepoint on the server but an reluctant to get rid of the one that says SBS Fax Sharepoint Receive.
the other two are perplexing me, they are different.
The Default (Servername) shows the IP address of the server itself and allowing receive from the entire network range.  the authentication is TLS, Basic Auth, Exhange Server auth, Integrated Windows Auth.  could this be left over from the migration?
    Should it be deleted?
the Windows SBS Internet Receive (Servername) shows to use the IP address of the Servername and allows receive from my firewall and my Barracuda.  the firewall routes mail to the barracuda appliance before relaying it to the exchange server.
Should I just have the barracuda IP address in there as a receive connector and remove the firewall address?
I know that SBS has been real finicky with the hub transport and don't want to screw up the receive when everything is working fine.  just don't feel I am well protected from internal computers getting malware and it looks right now that the Hub Transport
allows relaying from any computer in the network.

    Hi,
I recommend you refer to the following article to understand the receive connector:
    Understanding Receive Connectors
Default Receive Connectors Created on a Hub Transport Server. When you install the Hub Transport server role, two Receive connectors are created. No additional Receive connectors are needed for typical operation, and in most cases
the default Receive connectors don't require a configuration change. The usage type and configuration of these connectors are described in the following table.
    Connector   name and usage type
    Configuration
Default Servername   This Receive connector accepts
connections from other Hub Transport servers and any Edge Transport servers   you have.
    Status: Enabled.
    Protocol logging level: None.
    Connector FQDN:
    Servername.forestroot.extension
Local server Receive        connector bindings: All available IP addresses. The server accepts mail
received through any network adapter on the Hub Transport server.
    Port: 25.
Remote server IP address        range: 0.0.0.0–255.255.255.255 IPv4 and        0000:0000:0000:0000:0000:0000:0.0.0.0–ffff:ffff:ffff:ffff:ffff:ffff:255.255.255.255
IPv6.. The Hub Transport server accepts mail that's sent from any        IP address.
Available authentication methods:        TLS, Basic authentication, Integrated Windows authentication.
Permission groups: Exchange        users, Exchange servers, Legacy Exchange servers.
Using a Receive Connector for Anonymous Relay
In Exchange 2010, relaying is typically handled by using accepted domains. Accepted domains are configured on the Edge Transport server or Hub Transport server. The accepted domains are additionally classified as internal relay domains or external relay
domains. For more information about accepted domains, see
    Understanding Accepted Domains.
You can also restrict anonymous relay based on the source of the incoming messages. This method is useful when an unauthenticated application or messaging server must use a Hub Transport server or an Edge Transport server as a relay server.
    Hope this helps!
    Thanks.

    Hi,
yes smtp is a standard and I think you could use this with almost every smtp server.
If your smtp server doesn't require authentication you can access it without an authenticator
    I think...

  • Hub transport raw HTML code displays when iOS client used to send message

Has anyone else encountered (and hopefully fixed) this problem? I use HTML coding to format the signatures for my staff at the hub transport rule level. Here's an example:

    Yes.

However in the SHARE I have to send all the pages.
