  • Disconnected Slicer in PowerView - Hour | Day | Week | Month | Year | Max

    I want to create a Power View chart in Power BI with the Minute/Hour/Day/Week/Month/Year filters:
    Workbook can be downloaded at:https://www.dropbox.com/s/r00btg5zb8snohz/Disconnected%20Slicer%20Demo.xlsx?dl=0
    when MINUTE is selected the chart should display:
    Total Number of Msgs vs. X-axis showing the last 60 seconds (from current time) with 5 or 10 seconds interval.
    when Hour is selected the chart should display:
    Total Number of Msgs vs. X-axis showing the last 60 minutes (from current time) with 5 minutes interval.
    ex: 10:00AM 10:05AM 10:10AM ...................................11:00AM
    when DAY is selected the chart should display:
    Total Number of Msgs vs. X-axis showing last 24 hours (12AM to 11:59PM with 1 hour interval)
    when WEEK is selected the chart should display:
    Total Number of Msgs vs. X-axis showing the last 7 days from current datetime stamp with 1 day interval.
    when MONTH is selected the chart should display:
    Total Number of Msgs vs. X-axis showing the 30 days from current datetime stamp with 1 day interval
    when YEAR is selected the chart should display:
    Total Number of Msgs vs. X-axis showing the last 12 months from current day with 1 month interval
    It would be great if the PowerView chart can be made to look something like this:
    shown in the below link:
    When '5 Day' is selected the values in the Y axis and X axis change automatically.

    Hi Manjunath,
    Currently looking into a possible solution although some of the limitations within Power View restrict how close we can get to the ideal result. Still exploring some approaches :)

  • Project 2013 - entering work hours at a monthly level

    Hi all,
    Any help with this 'hopefully small' problem will be hugely appreciated. It's not so much a problem, but
    me still being new to Project - sorry! As a summary of what I am working with:
    I have entered a list of tasks (all set to Manually Scheduled).
    I have entered a number of resources into the Resource List.
    I have also assigned relevant resources to the tasks.
    Using the Task Usage view, I would now like to begin entering Work hours for the resources assigned to the
    tasks. We are planning at a monthly level, so I know how many hours each resource is expecting to be spending on each task over each month.
    I have set the Timescale of my Task Usage screen to a monthly scale, thinking that this would allow me to
    enter total hours for each month. As an example, one of the resources assigned to a task is set for 15 hours of Work in April. It all seems to look OK on input.
    My problem is however, I would like the Start and Finish fields to reflect this, and span over the months
    in which the Task's resources will be doing work. It doesn't seem to pick up the month accurately. Although I have entered the 15 hours in the column labelled April, the Start and Finish dates have come out as 30/04/14 and 30/05/14 respectively. I was hoping
    the Start and Finish times of that row to be 01/04/14 and 30/04/14 respectively, but they are a month out of line, and has show the work to be happening over May, not April. Is there y way I can change this?
    I hope this makes sense as a question? Any help at all would be brilliant. Please do let me know if I've
    missed any detail and you need some more info. I'll also continue looking through the forums to check if this has already been asked.
    p.s. I tried to upload an annotated image, but my account needs to be verified first. Do I need to do anything to request this? I didn't receive any usual 'verification' links in MS's email on opening this account.
    Thanks very much,
    ac18

    Hi John, Julie,
    Thank you both very much for the help! Yes good spot, I did post it on both forums (http://www.msofficeforums.com/project/21190-project-2013-entering-work-hours-monthly-level.html) - it's been years since I've used forums of any kind, and it's great to see
    experts being active across multiple sites!
    I have given both suggestions a try, but unfortunately am still not quite there yet.
    John, although your tip seems to work OK, I think I was hoping to find a way for the Start and Finish times to automatically span across the Work hours I have entered. If I was to then enter another 5 hours, but this time for March, the Start-Finish dates
    should auto update to be 01/03/14 - 30/04/14. I understand now that this may require me to be on an Automatically Scheduled project?
    Julie, your screen shot on the msofficeforums.com website is exactly what I am looking to achieve! I would like to enter month-level Work data, and that looks to be exactly that. I did try entering a zero in the month immediately after the last month that
    had hours in it, but Project seemed to simply ignore it, with no visible change to the dates.
    I have done some further investigating, and there does seem to be something different happening with my Project version (it's Proj Prof 2013). I have access to another computer with Project 2010 installed on it, and this doesn't seem to cause an issue. Note,
    I did need to have set the tasks as Auto Scheduled.
    Essentially, if I try and exactly replicate Julie's example on both versions with the following steps, I get slightly different results:
    Tasks set to Auto-Scheduled.
    Set Project Start Date to 01/01/14
    Enter some resources.
    Switch to Task Usage view.
    Set the Timescales on the right hand side to: Bottom tier=Months, Middle tier=Quarters.
    Enter a task.
    Assign resources to the task. At this point, by default 8 hours worth of work appears for each assigned resource. In 2010, these hours appear in the January 14 column. But on my 2013 laptop however, these hours appear under the December 2013 column. Strange?
    Anyway, in both cases I clear these default hours by entering zeros in their places.
    I now enter 15 hours under April 2014 for one of the resources on the task.
    In 2010, the Start and Finish dates of the assigned resource's row update to 01/04/14 - 30/04/14.
    In 2013 however, the Start and Finish dates update to 30/04/14 - 30/05/14.
    I have a feeling that this discrepancy is perhaps at the heart of my problem? Is there a setting with the application that I am not making?
    Thanks again,
    Arjun

  • Query help: using ytd hours earned to calcuate hours accrued each month

    We’d like to calculate the hours accrued per month for each employee on both sick and vacation leaves between January and June. (EmployeeID 002 just started in April).
    We only know the year-to-date hours earned for each employee and hours accrued each month could vary. We can use the lag function to calculate the hours earned for every other month, except for the beginning month (please see the column named monthly_earned_using_lag_function, where the monthly_earned data are missing for 001 on January and for 002 on April. Is there any way that we can include the hours accrued for the beginning month? The final result we expect to achieve can be seen from the column named monthly_earned_with_correct_result.
    Bunched of thanks to your advice in advance.
    The sql we used looks like this:

    Hi,
    You can use LAG for that. The optional 3rd argument to LAG is the value to return in case there is no prior row.
    SELECT    id
    ,       plan
    ,       month
    ,       ytd_hours_earned
    ,       ytd_hours_earned – LAG (ytd_hours_earned)
                                     OVER ( PARTITION BY  id
                                    ,           plan
                                    ORDER BY          month
                                  ) AS monthly_earned_using_lag
    ,       ytd_hours_earned – LAG (ytd_hours_earned, 1, 0)                -- ***** NOTE 3rd argument *****
                                     OVER ( PARTITION BY  id
                                    ,           plan
                                    ORDER BY          month
                                  ) AS monthly_earned_correct
    FROM      leaves
    ORDER BY  id
    ,            plan
    ,       month
    ;By the way, there's no point in ORDERing BY an expression that's in the PARTITION BY clause. If you say "PARTTIION BY id", then two rows will be compared with each other only if they have the same id, so they will always tie when you ORDER BY id.
    I hope this answers your question.
    If not, post a little sample data (CREATE TABLE and INSERT statements, relevant columns only), and also post the results you want from that data.
    Explain, using specific examples, how you get those results from that data.
    Always say which version of Oracle you're using.

  • Query for all hours in a month?

    Hello,
    I was hoping someone might be able to assist. I need to query for all the hours in a user specified date range (generally a month). For example,
    a query such as:
    select all hr_end from dual where start_date between '01-feb-2010' and '28-feb-2010'
    that returns:
    feb 01 2010 01:00
    feb 01 2010 02:00
    feb 01 2010 03:00
    feb 28 2010 23:00
    feb 28 2010 24:00
    Ideally, I want to be able to run this query within a WITH clause such that I can reference the temporary table/ list of hours in a subsequent select statement quickly. Something like:
    With
    all_hrs_in_month AS
    select .....
    where start_date between '01-mar-2010' and '31-mar-2010'
    I've looked around for similar questions, but have only found ones for all the 'days' in a month using level, connect by, row_num, for which I'm honestly not too familiar with and wasn't clear as to how I could modify to my needs.
    Greatly appreciate your help with this request.

    Hi,
    Welcome to the forum!
    WITH     got_parameters  AS
         SELECT     TO_DATE ('01-mar-2010 00:00', 'dd-mon-yyyy hh24:mi')     AS start_date
         ,     TO_DATE ('31-mar-2010 23:00', 'dd-mon-yyyy hh24:mi')     AS end_date
         FROM     dual
    ,     all_hrs          AS
         SELECT     start_date + ( (LEVEL - 1)
                        / 24
                        )     AS hr
         FROM    got_parameters
         CONNECT BY     LEVEL <= 1 + ( 24
                                   * (end_date - start_date)
    SELECT       TO_CHAR (hr, 'DD-Mon-YYYY HH24:MI')     AS h
    FROM       all_hrs
    ORDER BY  hr
    ;Output:
    H
    01-Mar-2010 00:00
    01-Mar-2010 01:00
    01-Mar-2010 02:00
    01-Mar-2010 03:00
    31-Mar-2010 22:00
    31-Mar-2010 23:00Notice that start_date and end_date don't have to span then entire month; they don't even have to be in the same month.
    If you'd rather specify just one parameter (such as a single string containing the month and year):
    WITH     got_parameters  AS
         SELECT     TRUNC ( TO_DATE (:p_month, 'mon-yyyy')
                    , 'MONTH'
                    )          AS start_date
         ,     TRUNC ( ADD_MONTHS ( TO_DATE (:p_month, 'mon-yyyy')
                                 , 1
                    , 'MONTH'
                    )          AS end_date
         FROM     dual
    ,     all_hrs          AS
         SELECT     start_date + ( (LEVEL - 1)
                        / 24
                        )     AS hr
         FROM    got_parameters
         CONNECT BY     LEVEL <= ( 24          -- NOTE: Not adding 1 here
                               * (end_date - start_date)
    SELECT       TO_CHAR (hr, 'DD-Mon-YYYY HH24:MI')     AS h
    FROM       all_hrs
    ORDER BY  hr
    How It Works
    SELECT  LEVEL  AS n
    FROM    dual
    CONNECT BY  LEVEL <= x
    ;Produces a result set consiting of the integers 1, 2, 3, ..., x.
    There's nothing magical about the dual table; you can use any table AS LONG AS THE TABLE HAS ONLY ONE ROW .
    The other examples you saw probably just added this to a starting date, to get successive days, since, in Oracle date arithmetic, dt+n is a DATE n days after dt.
    Your case is slightly more complicated, because you want to add hours, not days. Since an hour is 1/24 of a day, we multiply by 24 to find how many integers to genereate, and divide by 24 when adding that number to the base date.

  • How can we get Apple to do a better job on iCal? Now we can't even specify snooze times. Please give us the flexibility we need--minute, hour, day, week, month, year alerts that we can set for each event we add to our calendar.

    I'm liking Mountain Lion a lot so far, except for the new iCal performance. iCal has never been as good as the MS Office calendar, not even as good looking  much less flexible and, for me at least, a lot less intuitive. And that points to another big problem Apple's increasing totalitarianism has created: I would change back to the MS Office calendar in a micro-second if it weren't for the fact that Apple has never created a way for us to coordinate our iPhones with the Office calendar. My life with Apple goes back to the birth of the Mac and it at once gives me chuckles and fits of righteous indignation that for decades Apple criticized (and sued) Microsoft for its attempts to channel users of its products to other MS products by making 'third party' products not work well with MS software. There's a lot of truth to the idea that Apple is becoming a bully in its steady insistence on giving us fewer and fewer ways of putting together software and hardware sets that we think are the best for us. Whatever happened to Apple's free spirit!?!?!?!?
    I can do all the whinging above because Apple has always built exceptional products and because even now its service performance is fifty times as good as any other company I do business with.  If you doubt that, just try to get any kind of support from Microsoft.

    No point in whinging here, we are all just users. Use Apple feedback.

  • FIOS DOWN EVERY 3 HOURS FOR 9 MONTHS - VERIZON COULD CARE LESS

    I have placed numerous calls to Verizon about service interuptions to internet that last 15 seconds. This happens EIGHT times a day. To prove to them it is the neighborhood and not my home or equipment, I installed monitoring software on my home and my neighbors. Both go off at the same time. Verizon collects the money and could care less. Obviously they need to replace their equipment, I am told a PWN ? Card. But, this would take their money and cut into their profit. If you have a choice I would not go with FIOS.

  • Regarding working hours of a month

    Hi All,
    I have 3 page items (2 are date picker item & 3rd is text box item).
    Now when user insert date into 1st datepicker item as "06/16/2009" and into 2nd datepicker item as "07/15/2009", than into 3rd page item(which is text box) should automatically caluated as <b>22</b>. As 22 are the actual working days btw "06/16/2009 and 07/15/2009" excluding weekends.
    I did by calcuated into SQL Server 2005 Mgmt Studio something like this:-
    declare @fromdate datetime
    declare @todate datetime
    declare @day int
    declare @count int
    set @fromdate = '06/16/2009'
    set @todate = '07/15/2009'
    set @day = 0
    set @count = 0
    while ( @fromdate <= @todate )
         begin
              set @day = (select datepart(weekday, @fromdate))
              if (@day >=2 and @day <= 6)
              begin
                   set @count = @count + 1
              end
              set @fromdate = @fromdate + 1
         end
    SELECT @count
    and the output was <b>22</b> which was same as my req.
    Now my question is in what way I should go ahead into APEX such that 22 number is caluated by form itself, do I need to write pl/sql process or using JS?
    Which will be best and professional way?
    If any other way than plz do let me know.
    Thanks
    I appreciate your replies n suggestion.
    regards,
    Kumar

  • Help With Splitting Months / Hours

    Post Author: shmoov
    CA Forum: Formula
    Hi all - this is my first post to the forum...I am trying to create a report based on data I pull from a MS-SQL backend database.  The data I'm pulling is based on projects my employees are working on and/or are scheduled to perform.  Each of those projects has a certain amount of man hours assigned to it to complete.  What I'm trying to do is create an employee capacity chart that shows over the course of the next twelve months, how many man hours for each month are required to get our projects done - I use this to project new hires. Anyway, I have no problem creating the chart, but it's not as accurate as I'd like.  The four fields I'm pulling from the database for each project are START_DATE, END_DATE, MANHOURS, and STATUS.  The chart I've created bases the man hours on the start date, then sums all of the manhours up for the month, creating a bar graph by month.  My problem is that if a project stretches out over a month-end boundary - say, it starts on March 28th and goes to April 15th, I want to be able to split that up amongst the two months.  I'm able to get the numbers on this through the following formula snippet:if ((month ({@ConvertStartDate})) < (month ({@ConvertEndDate}))) then   // Does the project only span over two months?    if (month ({@ConvertEndDate}) - month ({@ConvertStartDate})) = 1 then         //See how many days the project is scheduled for        (TotalDaysOfProject := (DateDiff ("d", {@ConvertStartDate}, {@ConvertEndDate}) + 1);        //See how many days we have left in start month        DaysLeftInMonth := (DateDiff ("d", {@ConvertStartDate}, DateAdd ('m', 1, ({@ConvertStartDate}) - day({@ConvertStartDate}) + 1) - 1) + 1);        HoursForThisMonth := {@ChangeHoursToNumber} * (DaysLeftInMonth / TotalDaysOfProject);        HoursForNextMonth := {@ChangeHoursToNumber} - HoursForThisMonth);So, what I want to do as each row is read in is make this evaluation - if it does span two months, I want it to print out two rows...For instance, instead of:START                END                MANHOURS                STATUS3/28/2008           4/15/2008        120                                Scheduled I would like it to print the following: START                END                MANHOURS                STATUS3/28/2008        3/31/2008        25.26                                Scheduled4/1/2008        4/15/2008        94.74                                    Scheduled  I know it sounds like a lot...Is it possible?  Thanks!

    CA Forum: Formula
    You could insert another detail section (or group if that is the level you are working on)
    Use this formula to determine if you have spanned more than one month.
    month() - month()                            {@MTAM}
    The result can be used to supress / not supress various sections.
    You can then use this formula to get the last day of the month   {@ldofM}
    //Crystal syntax
    Local DateTimeVar d := {Sheet1_.Start_DATE};
    DateSerial(Year(d), Month(d) + 1, 1 - 1)
    Use this one to get the first day on the next month.              {@1stdofM}
    //Crystal syntax
    Local DateTimeVar d := {Sheet1_.Start_DATE};
    DateSerial(Year(d), Month(d) + 1, 1 - 0)
    You can then use those formulas to display your days difference.  Put your
    startdate   {@ldofM}
    {@1stdofM} enddate
    in your new detail section, and set to display if {@MTAM} = 1
    hope this helps.

  • 0T-site maintenance: hourly, monthly, yearly?...

    a client is asking me what my "long term support system for
    the website will be".
    I usually charge an hourly rate for maintenance and updates,
    but I was wondering if it would not be
    wiser to set up a yearly flat rate just for maintenance and
    casual, minor updates, and then an
    hourly rate only for big changes, such as new sections or
    changes that affect the page layout or the
    navigation...
    Do you have any input/suggestions/experience about this?

    What about selling maintenance in hour blocks per month.
    10hrs = $x
    20hrs = $x
    30hrs = $x
    depending on how many hours you believe they may need.
    The hours have to be used within that month, they will not
    rollover to the
    next month.

  • Vision m decreased one hour of battery in 4 month

    Hi,
    I have my vision m now a bit longer than 4 months. On arrival i did a battery check (to check if it was really 4 hours video). I could play a video with 25 minutes 2 times full, needless to say i was very impressed with the vision m. But last week i noticed the battery going down a lot faster! When the vision m is off the change is really noticable! When i fully charge it, 24 hours later is has lost one block and when using it for 0-5 minutes 2 blocks are gone!?So i fully depleted my battery, fully charged it and right after that it did the same test as when i just got the vision m... now my battery only last 3 hours and a bit when watching the same video :s:s?I did not use the vision m that much, let's say 5-0 hours a week and now my batterylife decreased with hours in 4 months ??Is this normal, is there a sulotion ?thank you very much(i buy creative products since soundblaster li've, i've also had a zen micro and a zen sleek and i've been always very pleased but now i'm a bit dissapointed...)??*edit*I just want to note, normally i don't fully decharge my battery because i know this is not that good for a lionbattery... so the one hour decrease is not from constantly fully decharging and charging to maximumMessage Edited by quinten on -2-200606:29 AM

    TS's comments are BS. In fact you should fully discharge your battery to calibrate the fuel gauge.
    Heat and time are the real enemies of li-ion batteries.
    Here are some battery care guidelines from batteryuni'versity.com
    Avoid frequent full discharges because this puts additional strain on the battery. Several partial discharges with frequent recharges are better for lithium-ion than one deep one. Recharging a partially charged lithium-ion does not cause harm because there is no memory. (In this respect, lithium-ion differs from nickel-based batteries.) Short battery life in a laptop is mainly cause by heat rather than charge / discharge patterns. <
    Batteries with fuel gauge (laptops) should be calibrated by applying a deliberate full discharge once every 30 charges. Running the pack down in the equipment does this. If ignored, the fuel gauge will become increasingly less accurate and in some cases cut off the device prematurely. <
    Keep the lithium-ion battery cool. Avoid a hot car. For prolonged storage, keep the battery at a 40% charge level. <
    battery life is still a contentious issue. there is a very nice thread in the archi'ves somewhere about it. However, people can spew out many theories about how you need to fully discharge your battery or else you will lose part of it, or how you need to partial cycle to avoid complete drainage etc...
    remember that batteries don't have a "memory" they are a divided set of charged lithium ions and atoms. The batteries capacity will naturally deteriorate with time
    I've always tried to keep some voltage applied across my batteries as this has never done them any harm. It's worth bearing in mind that many other factors including heat and frequency of usage are likely to be greater than any charging routine you have.

  • How can I stop 2-in-a-row backups each hour?

    Each hour for several months now, my Macbook Pro performs the normal backup, going from Preparing Backup to backing it up, to Finishing Backup. But then an odd thing happens; the cycle promptly repeats, regardless of whether or not I changed anything on the hard drive (nor should that matter). The second round usually involves the same or barely less storage space to backup.
    Since Apple doesn't provide a method of setting the interval of backups, I'm at the mercy of the software either being On or Off. When I'm about to leave the house and I see "Finishing Backup", I figure I'll let it finish the backup before leaving. But then I see it try to start again.
    I learned that I'll end up late to events if I trust it, so in recent weeks, I started to stop the backup. It reports that it's stopping the backup. Then, if it was the first attempt at backing up, it starts preparing a backup immediately upon having reached the end of the stopping backup process. I have to tell it to stop twice in order to make it actually stop. This is getting annoying enough to post my first topic ever on here.
    I don't recall any significant change to my system from the time when it used to just perform a single backup to when it does two each hour.

    JimInIowa wrote:
    Thanks for pointing me to TimeTracker; I always wished the contents of the backups were more transparent.
    Yeah. Why something like that isn't built-in is a real mystery.
    My backups weren't taking terribly long, but a wireless backup of even 50 MB can eat up somewhere on the order of 5 minutes from Preparation through Finishing.
    I don't have a TC, but that seems much too long, even for wireless, unless there's some sort of conflict (such as downloading big files on the same connection).
    You might want to take a look at the things in item #D2 of the Time Machine - Troubleshooting *User Tip* at the top of this forum. One (or more) of those have made large differences in many cases.
    It's also worth a look at TM's logs (as mentioned in #D2, and another facility that ought to be built-in). If you see something suspicious, copy and post them here.
    If I actually modified real real files, it obviously takes longer as it has more to store. But the reason it bothered me was the times where I did nothing but browse the web and had to wait for roughly 10 minutes of backups to take place each hour. When you just want to pack up and leave with the laptop, you hate to stop it, much less have to do it twice; but waiting 10 minutes for nearly no benefit also seemed stupid.
    Other than doing an abnormal shut-down, cancelling or interrupting a backup won't hurt anything.

  • ITunes Match Skipping for months. 2 seperate apple staff promise to call back and never do!

    Dear all,
    I loved iTunes match for almost a couple of years. However for the last 3 months or so what ever songs I add to my iTunes library on my iMac and then send to iTunes match will not play on either my iPhone, or iPad. I am extremely annoyed about the whole thing as I have phoned Apple technical support on 2 separate occasions and gone through all the usual try this and try that. I have even restored my iPhone and iPad but still it does not work. Strangely all songs work fine on my Apple TV's and my iTunes library on my iMac.
    What annoys more than it not working is the fact that I have had 2 members of staff promise to look into it and call me back, they never do! I have had a direct email for the 2nd member of staff and even had a few replies from him arranging a suitable time to call but he didn't. I then tried to email him the other day to find that the email got an automated reply saying no such address. I can only assume the member of staff in question has left?
    PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE someone help. Apple staff - do you read these posts? If so SOMEONE CALL ME BACK!
    For the record all devices are up to date. I even upgraded to ios8 and have even bought an iPhone 6 but the problem still occurs.
    I love Apple and their products but this is a complete shambles. 3 months of a service I cannot use and my subscription is about to renew. I am a music teacher so this feature used to be great. I think I will not be using this anymore unless it gets fixed asap?
    Can Apple wipe the iTunes Match data for my account so I start again and upload my library as if all brand new?
    Moan over I await a response but I won't hold my breath.

    I have probably spent 15 hours over 3 months trying to solve this problem.......to no avail.
