Some research tells me that this is a common malware program and there are plenty of sites that explain how to get rid of it... on a PC! But NOTHING for the Mac. How can I get rid of the malware on my macbook air?

I have not downloaded any suspicious programs or clicked on any links but suddenly today, ads keep popping up on google and on websites like Tumblr, Facebook, etc. Pictures are even turning to ads, like the picture gets replaced with an ad for a farm game. I have disabled extensions, I have deleted cookies and cleared my cache, I have put chrome adblock on, and that keeps a lot of the ads away but the same 'mackeeper' link pops up on google search no matter what, as well as zeobit.com. I'm worried I'm going to have to get professional help.

Uninstall any extensions you don't know you need, including any that have the word "Spigot," "Trovi," or "Conduit" in the description. If in doubt, uninstall all extensions. Do the equivalent for the Firefox and Chrome browsers, if you use either of those.
Reset the home page and default search engine in all the browsers, if it was changed.
Step 2
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
/Library/LaunchAgents/com.vsearch.agent.plist
Right-click or control-click the line and select
          Services ▹ Reveal in Finder (or just Reveal)
from the contextual menu.* A folder should open with an item named "com.vsearch.agent.plist" selected. Drag the selected item to the Trash. You may be prompted for your administrator login password.
Repeat with each of these lines:
/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.vsearch.daemon.plist

This failure of oversight has compromised both Gatekeeper and the Developer ID program. You can't rely on Gatekeeper alone to protect you from harmful software.

I looked over the article you mentioned, but I have tried all of these methods, but only get the response "The item “29394D00” can’t be moved to the Trash because it can’t be deleted." Similarly, I cannot Get Info on the file. This is why I'm so concerned, it just appeared on my desktop, but I cannot touch it, or open it or delete it...
If you have any more tricks up your sleeve, I'd love to hear about them...

I also read that sometimes this virus can appear to have been deleted but then when you reboot the computer it re-installs itself. How can I get rid of it completely and permenantly? I have a friend that works at Best Buy and he said you guys could repair it but it costs about $200. I didn't know if there was anything else I could try that you know of. Please help because it keeps messing with my internet pages and is making my computer slower than it should be.

Stuff like that is better known as "spyware/malware" - There are categories of malware not consider viruses (although often they are installed by a virus as a larger payload).
I would suggest trying Malwarebytes. If Malwarebytes can't fix it, your best bet is probably to nuke and repave. (i.e. backup your data files and then reinstall Windows and all applications from scratch.)

There is no need to download anything to solve this problem.
You may have installed one or more of the common types of ad-injection malware. Follow the instructions on this Apple Support page to remove it. It's been reported that some variants of the "VSearch" malware block access to the page. If that happens, start in safe mode by holding down the shift key at the startup chime, then try again.
Back up all data before making any changes.
One of the steps in the article is to remove malicious Safari extensions. Do the equivalent in the Chrome and Firefox browsers, if you use either of those. If Safari crashes on launch, skip that step and come back to it after you've done everything else.
If you don't find any of the files or extensions listed, or if removing them doesn't stop the ad injection, ask for further instructions.
Make sure you don't repeat the mistake that led you to install the malware. It may have come from an Internet cesspit such as "Softonic" or "CNET Download." Never visit either of those sites again. You might also have downloaded it from an ad in a page on some other site. The ad would probably have included a large green button labeled "Download" or "Download Now" in white letters. How can I get rid of "myV9" that suddenly appeared the other day when I started Firefox?

Suddenly there was a portal site named "myv9" or "V9" on the screen when I started Firefox the other day. It contains a lot of icons for programs like Facebook, Google and so on. Until now I have had only Google as start page from Firefox. Of course I can click on the Google icon to get there, but it is the only site that I want to use of all these. Nearly all the other icons (except Facebook and some others) lead to specific US sites that I never visit (for example the weather forecast for North America) , because I live in Sweden. Yes, it is a varient of the same malware however for Mac users it appears to only infect the browser using a Javascript lock.
Write down the url of the malware site, all you need is the domain name like discussions.apple.com, nothing else is needed.
1: Command tab to the Finder
2: Apple Menu > Force Quit > Safari
3: Relaunch Safari holding the Shift key down to disable reopening of previous pages.
4: Reset Safari.
5: Report the offending site to: https://www.google.com/safebrowsing/report_badware/
6: Restart your machine and restore from TimeMachine backup or bootable clone (optional at this time as we don't know much about it on Mac's yet)
