How come after turning of iMessage on my iPhone 5 (iOS 7.0.4), my contact who has the same phone and OS could not receive regular text messages from me?
Here is what the conversation looked like. She let me know she didn't see those two messages:
PROBLEM SOLVED by Apple Support Chat
In order to get around this issue I had to put the phone into RECOVERY MODE, and connect it to iTunes.
Here is the support article that tells you how to put your iPhone into RECOVERY MODE. http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1808
Connecting to iTunes in RECOVERY MODE worked even though all my iPhone backups are in iCloud not in my iTunes.
It is NOT TRUE that you can't re-activate and recover your iPhone if your SIM is locked.
It is NOT TRUE that you have to unlock your SIM in another phone if you are trying to re-activate your iPhone with a locked SIM.
It is NOT TRUE that you need to get a new SIM from your carrier if you're trying to reactivate your iPhone with a locked SIM.
All you need is a computer running iTunes, your SIM PIN, your iCloud login and password, and you need to put your iPhone into RECOVERY MODE. (See link above or click here.)

I change phones and i am not getting regular txt messages because somehow the messages are still sending through imessage which i no longer have.... I deleted my phone number from the account though as per instructiions from the phone carrier and is still not working...Any help?
Hello jn_andrade,
It sounds like you are no longer getting text messages becuase your Apple ID is still using your phone number for iMessage. I would use these steps to unlink your phone number from your account:
Unlink a phone number
To remove a phone number from an Apple ID, sign out of FaceTime and Messages on your iPhone:
Settings > Messages > Send & Receive. Tap your Apple ID, then tap Sign Out.
Settings > FaceTime. Tap your Apple ID, then tap Sign Out.
This should remove your phone number from other devices using the same Apple ID with FaceTime and Messages. If the phone number is still available on other devices after you sign out of FaceTime and iMessage on the iPhone, you may need to sign out of iMessage and FaceTime on all your devices, then sign in to FaceTime and Messages again on devices you want to use.
Note: If you no longer have access to the iPhone that is using the number you want to remove, reset your Apple ID password.
From: iOS and OS X: Link your phone number and Apple ID for use with FaceTime and iMessage

So, I'm not a noob when it comes to I-phone. I haven an iphone 5-c. I'm very cautious of privacy settings, etc. 99% of the time, I have everything turned off. No matter what, if I have everything turned off, I will still get a text message. How is that possible? I do have I-message turned off, so the only thing that "should" get through would be an SMS message, but if my cellular is turned off, and my wi-fi is off...nothing else turned on.... How in the **** do I still receive a text? When I have everything turned off, I can't make a call...I can't check my e-mail etc...So, how is this possible?
Please, help explain! This is disturbing.Thank you for your reply, but I guess I'm confused as to what that means. I was under the assumption that if I turned off my cellular service in settings, as well as everything else, then my phone would technically be off. As in OFF. So, how would I turn my phone completely off from receiving calls and/or texts while it's still technically powered on?
Thanks again for any help. -
I switched over from an iPhone to a Samsung Galaxy S3 & I haven't been able to receive any text messages from iPhones. I have no problem sending the text messages but I'm not receivng any from iPhones at all. It has been about a week now that I'm having this problem. I've already tried fixing it myself and I also went into the sprint store, they tried everything as well. My last option was to contact Apple directly. Please help with turning my iMessage completely off so that I can receive my texts.
If you registered your iPhone with Apple using a support profile, try going to https://supportprofile.apple.com/MySupportProfile.do and unregistering it. Also, try changing the password associated with the Apple ID that you were using for iMessage.

I'm having trouble with my iPhone 5 iMessage service. The device does not recognize the users who have iMessage when I try to contact them using this feature. Who have the same issue and what did you do in order to solve it?

How do I change my Apple ID on my iphone? I had to change my email address but haven't been able to successfully on the my phone and not it will not allow me to download apps because the id is the old one
settings - app/itune store - apple id - log out and log back in with your new id.
NOTE: apps are tied to the apple id that was used to purchase it. -
My ex boyfriend and I used to share apple ids. Since we are no longer together, I have created my own apple id and associated my email address for texting on my ipad. However, he still receives my text messages that go to my email address on HIS ipad! I don't have his apple id password so I cannot delete my email from his iTunes account, nor will he give it to me. I just don't want him to see my text messages! How do I delete it from his ipad?
Each of you need to have your own apple id's instead of sharing is the best way. But you can go to each phones settings, messages, send and recieve, and down to start new conversation from, and make sure each of you have your own email address with a check mark beside of it not the same address.

How come after I use IMessage, some of my old Text Message are lost?
And I only have very little message ;P
I've had the same problem for a long time, I found that going into settings then messages you can change how long you keep your messages for, mine was on forever. I changed it to 30 days (minimum amount) and then deleted everything as I tried before(all at once). I left my phone with message open for about 30 mins without touching it after erasing everything. I went back to It, completely closed out of it, went back in and everything was still erased, then restarted my phone and everything was gone still! Hope that helps !

How can I stop the sharing on the iPhones that are on my account because its sharing everything even text messages and its driving everybody crazy
An icloud account is designed to be used by one user to keep his/her devices in sync.
If you have muitiple family members or friends using the same account as yours, then have them get their own Apple IDs and icloud accounts.
If you mean you want to stop the sharing between all your devices, then on any one device, go to Settings>icloud and turn off the services you don't want that device to share/sync. Or turn off icloud altogether if that's what you want.

Moving decimal spaces in a number
