How do I change the advertised RD Gateway server?

I have a 2012 R2 server that I setup RD Gateway services and setup RemoteApp.  Internally it all works fine.  The problem is the company was a branch of another company then bought out.  So the internal domain name is a .com that matches a
different existing company.  So when I go to the .../rdweb and log in all is fine, then I select to open calculator and give it the user name, so far so good.  It then opens an error saying it can not validate the certificate because the RD Gateway
is the servername.old-company.com.  I think all I need to do is get the RD Gateway address reported to the client corrected to the correct FQDN and I'm good.  I can not seem to find a way to do that.  I tried the Set-rdpublishedname script from
http://gallery.technet.microsoft.com/Change-published-FQDN-for-2a029b80 but it does not change the RD Gateway address.  Unless I'm using it wrong.
All suggestions welcome.  Thanks so much.

That was already set properly, but following your instructions I found that under the RD Web Access the URL is pointing to the local address but it won’t let me edit it.
Is this what I need to get changed?
Thanks

    Hello,
    Do you have root access to that machine? You should /etc/hosts with vi, modify the IP and then force the writing, because its a read only file. You can force this using w! instead of w. This way, if you have root permission, you should commint the change.
    Good luck!

  • How do I change the URL to the Remote Web Access server in Windows Server 2012?

    Hallo!
    I have set up a Remote Dexktop Service using the "Quick" deployment method in Server Manager and everything is working greate internally, but I cannot start an app published in Remote Web Access from outside our network.
    The problem is that it wants to start the using the internal URL, for example, server.domain.local, instead of the external one, for example remote.server.com.
    I therefore want to know how I can change the default URL for the Remote Web Access server and all the Remote Web Apps in Windows Server 2012?
    I have allready looked in Server Manager and I can change some of the deployment settings in server manager, but there is no way to alter the URL of the Remote Web Access server. See below images:
    Pressing the internal URL only results in opening the internal URL.
    This was very simple to do in Windows Server 2008 R2 using the tsconfig tool, but it does not seam to be any way of solving this in server manager.
    A possible sollution would be to alter the registry someware in HKLM->Software->Microsoft->Windows NT->Terminal Services. But this can easaly lead to problems due to wrong format, etc. and is probably not supported.
    Is there a simpler and supported way?

    That option can be used to connect to any machine that you want.  The error message indicates that the client machine cannot resolve the name "server.domain.local" to an IP address that it can connect to.
    You have several options for configuring that tab on the RDweb site.  You can even remove it entirely.
    Customization of RD Web Site
    RD Web provides a number of customization options for the RD Web interface, including the ability to control default Gateway server settings and redirection settings. These settings
    are controlled by editing the web.config file located in %SYSTEMROOT%\Web\RDWeb\Pages.
    Displaying Local Help
    To display local help for users instead of the web-based help, edit the LocalHelp value and change the value from false to true.
    <!-- LocalHelp: Displays local help for users, instead of the web-based help. Value must be "true" or "false" -->
    <add key="LocalHelp" value="false" />
    When this value is changed, a user that clicks on Help in the upper right corner of the RD Web login page will open the local help file instead of web-based help.
    Hiding the Connect to a Remote PC Tab
    The RDWeb page
    Connect to a Remote PC tab can be hidden from users to prevent connections to any servers through RD Web other than the servers configured in a collection. By default, this setting is set to true and the
    Remote Desktops tab is displayed. To hide the tab, set the value to false.
    <!-- ShowDesktops: Displays or hides the Remote Desktops tab. Value must be "true" or "false" -->
    <add key="ShowDesktops" value="true" />
    When the value is set to false, a user will not see the Connect to a Remote PC tab when logged on to the RD Web page
    RD Gateway Settings
    If the Connect to a Remote PC tab is enabled, an administrator can configure RD Web to use a Gateway server when connecting to remote computers. To specify a gateway, edit the below
    value with the name of the RD Gateway server:
    <!-- DefaultTSGateway: Admin can preset this to a given Gateway name, or set to "" for no gateway. -->
    <add key="DefaultTSGateway" value="" />
    The default authentication method for the RD Gateway server can also be configured by editing the following section of the web.config:
    <!-- GatewayCredentialsSource: TS Gateway Authentication Type.
    Admins can preset this.
    0 = User Password
    1 = Smartcard
    4 = "Ask me later"
    -->
    <add key="GatewayCredentialsSource" value="0" />
    Devices and Resources
    By default, only Printers and Clipboard are redirected on connections made using the Connect to a Remote PC tab. If the user clicks the
    Options << button, the redirection settings for a specific connection can be modified
    To configure each specified redirection option to be enabled or disabled by default, edit the following section in the web.config file:
    <!-- Devices and resources: Preset the Checkbox values to either true or false -->
    <add key="xPrinterRedirection" value="true" />
    <add key="xClipboard" value="true" />
    <add key="xDriveRedirection" value="false" />
    <add key="xPnPRedirection" value="false" />
    <add key="xPortRedirection" value="false" />
    LAN Experience Defaults
    Windows Server 2012 RD Web Access can display a new user selectable option for optimizing the connection for a LAN experience. This option is displayed at the bottom of the RD Web
    page and can be controlled by the administrator using the following section of the web.config file:
    <!--  Checkbox to opt for optimized LAN experience -->
    <add key="ShowOptimizeExperience" value="false" />
    <add key="OptimizeExperienceState" value="false" />
    This value is set to false by default, but when changed to true, the following checkbox will display at the bottom of the webpage. The LAN experience
    checkbox can also be set as enabled by default.
    Each setting can also be modified using the IIS Manager user interface:

  • How can I change the default location ipad/iphone pictures are stored in on my desktop?

    So here's my dilemma.  I have lightroom mobile on my ipad and iphone.  Seamlessly, lightroom mobile pushes these images to my desktop and saves them in a folder in windows.  I use an SSD and would prefer not doing read/writes to it that are unnecessary.  What makes the default location problematic is that I can't seem to change it.  Further, when I sync my ipad/iphone to my windows desktop using a cable, I will now have duplicates of images that were synced via lightroom mobile.  So, it would be infinitely simpler, I think, if lightroom mobile would sync ipad/iphone images to a directory I specify, on a supplemental hard drive for instance, and using dates for folder names rather than some default directory on my main drive where they are just dumped.

    Currently, Lightroom saves the images in a directory structure under a folder named "Mobile Downloads.lrdata", which is created in the same folder as the catalog file.
    For example, an image will be saved as:
    Windows = C:\Users\<username>\Pictures\Lightroom\Mobile Downloads.lrdata\<random hexadecimal name>\picture1.jpg
    Mac = Users/<username>/Pictures/Lightroom/Mobile Downloads.lrdata/<random hexadecimal name>/picture1.jpg
    you want to change the location of this "Mobile Downloads.lrdata" to another path.
    You should file an Idea, AKA Feature Request, to the Feedback site:
    http://feedback.photoshop.com/photoshop_family
    If there is enough people voting for it, the Product Managers will evaluate it and eventually apply it to a future version.
    It's your interest to advertise the Idea in order to increase the number of votes (I would vote for it).
    There is another similar discussion in the forum (How do i change the location of 'Mobile Downloads.lrdata' ?), I am posting the same answer there.

  • How can I change the ID on a computer?

    Hi there,
    as an advertising agency we start using creative cloud before there were options for team licenses. So now we have 14 licenses on our computers.
    Now we reorganize our hardware. Some computers will die, some will change their place.
    My question ist now, how can I change the used cloud-ID on the surviving computer without a new installation? Is it enough to deactivate the old ID and activate there a new ID?
    Thanks, Michael

    Michael,
    You can de-activate the machines you would not be using by following the procedure below:
    1. Launch any product from Creative Cloud.
    2. Go to Help>Deactivate.
    3. Once the deactivate is clicked close the application and the subscription is no longer valid on that machine.
    When you want to re-activate the team subscription launch the app and then go click on license this software.
    On next page it will ask for you Adobe ID, please login with new team subscription ID and it will activate your team subscription on it.

  • How can I change the source DB?

    Hi all,
    I have implemented an ETL with OWB where the source DB and the target DB both are Oracle.
    Now I have the same source (the same structure, tables, indexes,...) DB in MSSQL. Then my question is: how can I change the connections without modifying the mappings?
    I only want to change the source DB in Oracle to the same DB in MSSQL, therefore the mappings that are getting the data from Oracle then will get the data from MSSQL DB. Is it possible? or I have to create new mappings for MSSQL?
    Many thanks in advance,
    Victor.
    p.d. hope my english is understable

    Hi
    To have one set of mappings that could be switched to point to one system or another would be possible using synonyms to the source, where the synonym could be refined at runtime.
    You can have unbound table operators in OWB mappings that would be the name of the source item. It helps to understand a little about how the code generation works in order to do this. If you use a source table T in a schema S1, and the mappings is in schema S2, then the generated code would refer to S1.T and may even have a dblink so S1.T@dblink, an unbound table operator for table T would simply use the name T in the generated code, this lets you define T however you want in the schema where the mapping is deployed to. So T could be a synonym that points to a local Oracle table for example named S3.MYORATAB or it could be a SQLServer table referenced via the database gateway using MYSQLSERVERTAB@mysqlserverinstance
    Here is a trick to quickly define an unbound table operator based on the table structure of an existing table. You can quickly create unbound table operators that look like other tables by adding an existing table which you have imported into the map, then add a new table operator and add it unbound with a name. Then map from the bound table operators in/out group to the unbound table operators in/out grp, this will define all of the attributes and datatypes, you can then delete the bound table operator to leave the unbound one.
    An alternative would be to copy-paste the mappings and synchronize the source table operators with the SQLServer table definitions.
    Cheers

  • I don't know much about computers can anyone walk me through this ? How Do I Change The Software Update Server Address On A Client  ? what do I open and how do i put it in the right spot?

    I don't know much about computers can anyone walk me through this ? How Do I Change The Software Update Server Address On A Client  ? what do I open and how do i put it in the right spot?

    The simplest method is to run a defaults command on the client Macs (easily pushed via Apple Remote Desktop):
    defaults write com.apple.SoftwareUpdate CatalogURL 'HTTP_URL_FOR_CATALOG'
    for a user. If you run it via sudo it will set it for whenever you use softwareupdate as root.
    The HTTP_URL_FOR_CATALOG has been changed with Mac OS X 10.6.  If you use MCX it will automatically pick the new catalog – however if  doing it manually the following URLs need to be used for whichever  client version is in question:
    Mac OS X 10.4: http://mysus.example.com:8088/index.sucatalog
    Mac OS X 10.5: http://mysus.example.com:8088/index-leopard.merged-1.sucatalog.sucatalog
    Mac OS X 10.6: http://mysus.example.com:8088/index-leopard-snowleopard.merged-1.sucatalog
    Mac OS X 10.7: http://mysus.example.com:8088/index-lion-snowleopard-leopard.merged-1.sucatalog
    Mac OS X 10.8: index-mountainlion-lion-snowleopard-leopard.merged-1.sucatalog
    To double check this applied you can run the following command:
    /usr/libexec/PlistBuddy -c Print /Library/Preferences/com.apple.SoftwareUpdate.plist
    and /usr/libexec/PlistBuddy -c Print ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.SoftwareUpdate.plist
    to see what settings are for the computer and user appropriately.
    If  this is working correctly when running Software Update (GUI) you should  see the server address appear in parenthesis in the title of the  window.
    MCX
    Another alternative is to use Workgroup  Manager to manage the preferences via MCX from your server. This can be  done for users, or for computers if they are bound to your Open Directory.
    If you are using 10.5 Server or newer: you can simply use the Software Update section under Preferences.
    Manually:
    Choose the accounts, computers, or groups to have the preference applied to.
    Click on Preferences, and then the Details tab
    Press the Add… button and navigate to /Library/Preferences/com.apple.SoftwareUpdate.plist
    Press Edit…
    Under Often, add a New Key and enter the name CatalogURL
    Make sure the type is string and then enter your SUS URL (eg. http://mysus.example.com:8088/index.sucatalog or if using 10.6: http://mysus.examle.com:8088/ – see above from the defaults section)
    Press  Apply Now, then Done. Once users/computers have refreshed their MCX  settings (usually the next login or restart) the new settings will take  over.
    If this is working correctly when running Software  Update (GUI) you should see the server address appear in parenthesis in  the title of the window.
    In order to have a system-wide configuration one has to run the following:
    sudo defaults write /Library/Preferences/com.apple.SoftwareUpdate CatalogURL "http://your.updates-server.lan:8088/index.sucatalog"
    In order to correctly work both on Leopard and Snow Leopard the right command to issue is:
    defaults write /Library/Preferences/com.apple.SoftwareUpdate CatalogURL "http://your.updates-server.lan:8088/index-leopard-snowleopard.merged-1.sucatalog"
    Happily used and tested on my network
    The DNS trick that Chealion points out is fantastic. I use it at our office, and every computer on our LAN  will automatically pull the updates from the local repository at high  speed without any configuration.
    Create the swscan.apple.com DNS zone on your internal DNS server, and have it resolve via an A record to your Mac

    How can I change the display of Inbox in my iPad's mail app- so that it takes up the whole screen, as opposed to just about one third; the other two thirds display the full text of the selected email?

    You can't change the display in the Mail app, if you are holding the iPad in landscape orientation then the left-hand third will be for navigation, and the right-hand two-thirds will be an email. If you hold the iPad in portrait orientation then the navigation section becomes a drop-down section.

    In Pages 5.0 How do I change the highlight color?

    Oh!  I understand now.  See screenshot below.  It's called "Character Fill Color":

  • In the Menu Bar, under File, then Open File, how do I change the selections?

    I have Firefox 11.0 and Windows 5.1 (2007). In Firefox, I click on FILE in the Menu Bar, then OPEN FILE (Ctrl+O), and I see a small box; it says Look in: Mozilla Firefox. Below is a selection of files within the folder Mozilla Firefox. To the left is a column of four other folders: Downloads, My Computer, John, Lori. The last two are obviously two of the folders I've created on my computer, using Windows. But I don't know how they got here! I have no recollection of customizing this particular Firefox menu option by adding those folders, nor can I figure out what to do in order to further customize it. Can anyone tell me: (1) how can I change the original "Look in" option so that it opens with something other than "Mozilla Firefox" (which, after all, I never need to access)? (2) how can I add/delete/change the choices offered in the column on the left, so that different folders are listed? (Currently, if I want to access my Windows folders/files, I first have to minimize the Firefox screen; this seems to me a nice shortcut, but I'd like it to include shortcuts to the folders I use the most, which does not include "Mozilla Firefox"!) (3) Is this actually a Firefox feature, or is it a Windows feature? It does look like Windows (Windows style, Windows folders), but it appears only in the Firefox Menu Bar, along with Bookmarks, Tools, etc. Thanks!

    This sounds like a Windows thing ( You can post a photo and I can tell you for certain). Those folders are Windows system created folders that your computer has had since it was installed, all Firefox does is use the Windows File picker, which is what you see when you open that window. So, to customize you'd have to do that from Windows Explorer (not Firefox).
    The Window should however remember what folder you were in last.

  • How does one change the font size for folders and/or file lists in the Bookmarks Library?

    How does one change the font size for folders and/or file lists in the '''Bookmarks''' Library?
    Since the upgrade to version 9.0.1 of Firefox, the Bookmarks feature changes are confusing me. They seem to be confusing themselves as well. The list of bookmarks has changed. The font size is so small that my aging eyes cannot read it without fogging the screen with my breath. Some folders are out of alphabetical order (where I know they were previously good), and some are missing altogether (folders to which I frequently add references).
    As for missing or deranged files or folders, was there something that I should have done or now need to do to recover those after the upgrade (or before)?
    With regard to font size,
    1. there is no “Edit Bookmarks” or like option to edit the list in this version
    2. the “zoom” option in the “view” list of functions is greyed out when in “Show All Bookmarks” window
    3. expanding the browser window has no effect on font size
    4. “Preferences” settings for font size has no effect in that window either, including advanced settings
    5. “Help” offers none that I can find.
    Can any of you Help?!?
