How do I configure Windows 7 to recognize javac as a command?

I can write, compile and run a very very simple java program on Eclipse. When I attempt to compile the same program using the cmd interface, I find that javac is not recognized. So, I change the CLASSPATH, system environment variable to: "C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.6.0_20\bin\javac" exactly, without quotes. This does not change results. Eclipse must know where to find javac else the program won't compile. Changing the CLASSPATH has no effect of the Eclipse compilation that continues to compile and run! HELP! How do I configure Windows 7 to compile this program using the cmd interface?

Reply #1 is correct. You must not have done it correctly if it didn't work for you. Maybe you got the path wrong.
Or... did you close the console window and open a new one? If you didn't, then you didn't get the new PATH value.
Try that.

The registry method does not work with 8.1.  I found this out the hard way.  Doing it on 8.1 will leave you reinstalling the OS if you didn't do a SRP beforehand.

  • How I Got my Windows PC to recognize my Ipod Nano 3rd gen

Much like many of you, I could not get my computer to recognize my brand new Ipod Nano 3g. I was able to fix it, and now hope that this post will help others:
    *The Symptom:*
After plugging Ipod in, Windows recognizes a new USB device had been plugged in, but I received an error message while it was installing the driver. In Windows Device Manager, the error was '*Code 10: Device Cannot Start*' and the Apple Ipod had the yellow exclamation point next to it.
After fruitlessly searching through the forums, and reading and attempting all the Apple support documents (like the 5R's), I had gotten nowhere. I uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes about 10 times, deleted registry entries, etc, and NONE of the suggested fixes worked.
Important note: I tested my iPod on my Laptop and it worked, so I KNEW the issue was confined somehow to my main computer, and wasn't a hardware problem with the ipod. I suggest if you have a second computer available (even like a work computer), test the ipod there.
I turned to Google, and found a blog that helped me fix the problem in 10 minutes or less. To give that guy some credit, here is the link: http://blog.irreverence.co.uk/?p=467
    *The Fix:*
To sum it all up, basically the problem was not iTunes, Quicktime, or corrupted software. *Ipods evidently don't like other USB devices and/or drivers* (I know there's an apple support doc on this, but it didn't help me!).
*Here are the steps I performed:*
    1. I went into the Device Manager and uninstalled any USB Devices (such as my Logitech Webcam, and printer) by right clicking on each device and hitting "Uninstall".
    2. I pulled all these devices out of my computer, leaving no USB devices attached (you should be ok leaving a mouse attached).
    3. I uninstalled a USB 2.0 Driver program that was listed in the Windows Add/Remove programs list (I suspect this might have been the issue).
    4. I rebooted the computer.
    5. Plugged Ipod in...and boom it worked!
It would seem that playing around with your USB devices might help you if you're tried everything that Apple suggests on the Support pages. I hope this helps some of you out there.

    Hi Daboo14,
You can always recycle the iPod through Apple.
There is either a mail in option or you could recycle it at an Apple Retail Store and get 10% a new iPod.

  • How do I get Windows XP to recognize my internet Connection????

I loaded bootcamp and then Windows XP. After several attempts it loaded and windows XP came up. However, it will not recognize the internet connection.
I know the connection is good because when I boot with MAC OS - Safari connects no problem.
I tried the XP internet wizard and it doesn't connect.
    Shouldn't this be automatic???
Very frustrating, I know why I went away from windows but I need it for a few work programs...
    Please help????
    Thanks you

The Boot Camp 3.0 drivers are on the Snow Leopard disk. Just put the disk in your DVD drive when you booted up in Windows and a window asking if you want to install the drivers will come up.
To install the Boot Camp drivers:
1 Insert the Mac OS X disc.
If the installer doesn’t start automatically, browse the disc using Windows Explorer and double-click the setup.exe file in the Boot Camp directory.
    2 Follow the onscreen instructions.
If a message appears that says the software you are installing has not passed Windows Logo testing, click Continue Anyway.
Windows that appear only briefly during the installation don’t require your input.
If nothing appears to be happening, there may be a hidden window that you must respond to. Check the taskbar and look behind open windows.
Important: Do not click the Cancel button in any of the installer dialogs.
3 After your computer restarts, follow the instructions in the Found New Hardware Wizard to update your software drivers (Windows XP only).
4 Follow the instructions for any other wizards that appear.

  • How do I configure Time Capsule to recognize my Denon receiver?

    Hi all,
New to the forums but have spent the past few days perusing them to no avail - your help is appreciated from a networking newbie!
I have a Denon AVR 2312ci which I'd previously had hard-wired to an old Belkin router.  The only hiccup I'd had at the time was the requirement that I disable UPnP.  I have an Apple TV that I use to stream music via airplay to the receiver, which works quite well.  However, it requires me to turn on the receiver, whereas directing airplay to the receiver itself would "wake on LAN", a feature I like.
Since then, I've upgraded to a 2TB Time Capsule.  However, following the router change I am no longer able to find the Denon on my home network, nor do any of the networking capabilities of the receiver work any longer.  I tried disabling DHCP on the Denon and assigning a static IP address, but this didn't work.  I tested multiple Cat5e cables using various LAN ports on the router - no luck there, either.  I tried to reset the network card on the Denon - same result.
I'm beginning to wonder whether the problem lies with the way the Time Capsule is configured - any thoughts or suggestions out there?

    LP,
    IT WORKS!
To summarize for anyone who might have this problem, here's what fixed it:
    1) Time Capsule --Cat5e--> LAN port of router/switch (in my case, an old Netgear 10/100 with DHCP and NAT disabled) --Cat5e--> Denon receiver
    2) Through Airport Utility, made an IP reservation for an IP outside of the DHCP range (in my case 10.0.1.2 through 10.0.1.200, so I chose 10.0.1.202).  You will need your AV receiver's MAC address to do this.
    3) Disabled DHCP on the Denon
    4) Manually entered the IP address (e.g. 10.0.1.202), subnet mask 255.255.255.0, default gateway 10.0.1.1 (e.g. the TC's local IP), primary DNS 8.8.8.8, secondary DNS left blank, proxy off
This worked after I left the unit on standby for a period of a few hours (did not immediately work).  I did not need to do any port forwarding, DMZ, etc.
I am now able to access the unit from my web browser in my local network and am able to airplay directly to the unit using my other airplay enabled apps/iTunes.
Much thanks to LaPastenague for his very helpful advice!!

    Hi
    Try
Right click My Compute / Select - Manage / Select - Services and Applications / Double Click - Services.
You should see in this list your mobile device which maybe name "Apple Mobile Device" or "iPhone Mobile Device".
See what it says in "Status" column. If there is nothing in it, right click on it and click "Restart"
Open iTunes and it should be recognised

  • How do I configure Presenter 9 to recognize cam?

I'm using my Android phone (Samsung 3) and IPWeb app which sends the video stream over wifi to my desktop via a port. Works great, but Presenter doesn't see a camera connection.  Thanks for your help in advance!

    Hi,
Please download ipVideoSource msi from this link -> http://alax.info/blog/1216 .
Make sure to download x64 version, if you have 64 bit Video Creator and likewise for 32 bit.
You have to add a new video source and provide the video stream URL. After that you will be able to see the IPWeb camera in Video Creator Camera dropdown list. Choose it and start recording. I have seen issue with very small recording duration like 2-10 secs, so make sure you record for make than 30 secs.
This set worked fine for me.
    Thanks,

  • How do I configure my AX to serve as an extender for my AE

How do I get my AE to act as a wifi extender for my AX.  My current home network is a secure network.  My AE has previously been set up to be used as a base station in hotels..1) do I need to reset my AE to use it as an extender?  2) how do I configure my AE to recognize and extend my current secure network?  Thanks

Yes, your Extreme is an 802.11n model as well.
The following is the basic steps to configure both for an extended network:
Dynamic WDS - Extending a Wireless Network Setup
If practical, place the base stations in near proximity to each other during the setup phase. Once done, move them to their desired locations.
Open AirPort Utility, and then, select the base station that will connect to the Internet.
Choose Manual Setup from the Base Station menu, or double-click the base station to open the configuration in a separate window. Enter the base station password if necessary.
Click AirPort in the toolbar, and then, click Wireless.
Choose “Create a wireless network” from the Wireless Mode pop-up menu, and then, select the “Allow this network to be extended” checkbox.
Next, select the base station that will extend this network, and then, choose Manual Setup from the Base Station menu, or double-click the base station to open its configuration in a separate window. Enter the base station password if necessary.
Choose “Extend a wireless network” from the Wireless Mode pop-up menu, and then, choose the network you want to extend from the Network Name pop-up menu.
Enter the base station network and base station password if necessary.
Click Update to update the base station with new network settings.

  • ***WINDOWS DOES NOT RECOGNIZE MY 40G IPOD!!***

Ok I can say that I've done everything on the support pages to get Windows XP to recognize my scroll wheel ipod. I've restored, reinstalled quicktime, updater and itunes and windows, completed the 5 R's, and Windows still will not acknowledge my ipod at all. I've spoken to dell for troubleshooting and my firewire connection is working fine. At one time this IPOD worked so perfectly but not now. I just need to get my music back on there and it seems impossible at this point. Now I've got a blank ipod that I can't update due to a suggested restore. I'm shouting out to all Techies and beyond - If anyone has any helpful hints, suggestion and fixes on how I can get Windows XP to recognize my 40G (I believe first generation) Ipod with firewire, please do educate me. I am open to all suggestions! Thanks so much and have a fabulous day.

I recovered my 40G iPOD today. Did three things differently - so I am not sure which one was the clincher:
    1. Used Windows Defragmenter utility on E drive - iPod (right click in My Computer, Properties, Tools). Took about 1/2 hour.
    2. Ran new updater 3 times - accidentally as once I moved the iPod to the wall plug to flash it as last step, forgot to close Updater window & it asked to do it again...and again!)
    2. When flash was complete, I accidentally selected "Chinese" as the language!
Plugged iPod back to laptop, and then next thing it downloaded 7218 songs! The songs appear in English but all the menus are in Chinese....but I DON'T CARE cos I am playing them all right now! (I think the Defrag is the key step...)

  • How to print from windows 7 pc on time capsule network?

I added a new pc with windows 7 on my time capsule network.  Existing network includes 2 macbook pros and 1 mac mini with boot camp and windows xp.  I have been using the windows xp with bootcamp on the mac mini and printing from it for a couple years.  We don't share files between the notebooks and mac mini, just internet access and printing.  My bootcamp side got too full which is why I added the new windows pc (yuk) for my windows programs but I cannot figure out how to get the windows pc to recognize my printer connected to airport time capsule.  I installed the printer software and drivers and connected it with usb and printed but when I connect the printer back to time capsule the pc doesn't see it.  Also, I downloaded bonjour from apple site but still no go.  Any help is appreciated.  As you can probably tell, I only know enough to be dangerous.  That's why I love my Macs, they just work!

The problem is you loaded the printer directly and now do not have it plugged in.. so delete the printer in the control panel.. then setup the printer again.. this time connect to it as network printer. The bonjour should make it available as a network resource..
Tell me if you still run into trouble doing that. You may need to load the IP of the TC manually..
Window7 has higher security level than xp.. and that can sometimes also cause issues.
Are you using SMB compliant names for the TC, wireless and printer??
Can the windows 7 computer get internet via the TC? Can you ping it?
Look up how to reduce the security level in windows to match xp.. I don't remember the details but you have to do some nifty footwork.

  • Configure Windows Domain Logon on Airport Express

The question is... How can I configure Windows Domain Logon data on an Airport Express so it connects automatically without asking each of my other devices for login credentials?
I use my Airport Express at work connecting it through ethernet, and the network uses Windows Domain credemtials to login, that is user, password and domain server. I have all data needed, this is, static IP, Gateway, DNS, user, password, etc., but I haven't found how to do this inside de Airport Express so I configure just one device instead of 3 or more.
I have tryed configuring the Airport Express as PPPoE, but that's not the solution for this problem.
Thanks in advance for the answer.

Your wireless Netgear router and AirPort Express Base Station (AX) are pretty much useless if you don't have wireless capability for your Dell desktop. The AX uses AirTunes to receive, wirelessly, iTunes from your desktop.
Just add a wireless card to your Dell and you should be in good shape. In fact, once you go wireless, you can return the Netgear router as your AX will provide Internet connectivity, stream iTunes, and share a USB printer.

  • Can Time Capsule be used as a time machine on a Windows Server.  Is this possible, and how do i configure this?

I like to use the new TC in my office as a time machine on a Windows Server.  Is this possible, and how do i configure this?
In fact my plan is to make the first back up by connecting to the server via an ethernet cable, but thereafter i like to bring the TC to my home and perform the incremental backups over the internet.  This is for safety reasons, in case for example the office is broken into, or flooded, or fire (god forbid).
I sincerely hope it is possible, and not complicated.
Alternatively i would not mind replacing our current Windows server 2003 with an Apple server, but all computers in the network (except mine) are Windows 7 or 8. Would it work?
    Thanks in advance.

I will consider the WD My Cloud device.
It is a NAS.. it is designed to provide a cheap centralised file storage.
    What is NAS?? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Network-attached_storage
A file server like windows uses heaps of power to do very little.. in your setup.. In most setups like SBS it will do exchange server and provide a heap of useful connectivity to your clients.
Since you are not using the windows server in anything but simple file serving you can replace with a NAS..
Problem with the TC is, it is a router with a hard disk inside.. designed specifically for Time Machine.. it fails to provide what a NAS does.. easy access to any clients, local or remote.. TC is designed by apple for apple and the rest of world is not really invited to the party.
It provides no backup.. no data protection.. and is so specifically apple orientated I do not think it works at all well with windows.
For a simple example.. windows will have file issues with large files.. because it is only NTserver FAT32 to windows.. bad luck if you have large files.. !!
Plainly if you use active directory in windows that facility is gone.
I just like Apple products, find them more stable than Windows and easier to use.  Plus i can access the server from home if it is an Apple Server.
If you only need remote access for yourself that is fine.. too bad for the windows clients I guess.
Or you open it up to the world and bad luck for security.
Apple do not design for mixed environment.. in fact with the TC there is no provision for windows access officially at all.. so anything you do is a fudge.
You can use the TC for your Mac backups within the network.. that is fine. Apple provide no software at all to help with your windows clients.
