How do I connect my HP Laserjet 1102w directly to a Linksys AE3500 wireless router with USB option?

I am trying to connect an HP Laserjet 1102w directly to an HP desktop model a172n with Windows Vista Home Premium OS (32 bit) through a new Linksys AE3500 dual band wireless router which has a USB port for a direct connection. The desktop can see the wireless router but not the printer.
Is there a work around, a printer installer update, or some other solution that enables me to connect the desktop to the printer via the USB connection on the wireless router? I need to have one wireless laptop and one non-wireless desk computer able to use the one printer.
Thanks for any assistance!

hi there,
It seems as though this situation will require the Cisco connect software to function properly. Check out this article from the cisco knowledge base. It has the step by step setup specific to your case. Let us know if this helps or if you have already been through these steps.
Best of Luck!

How do I connect an HP LaserJet 5000 GN printer to my iMac (system 10.7.5) ?

Ok, I too have been having a time with hooking up the Great HP 5000 GN to my new 2013 MacPro desktop computer.
And I have tried everthing.  Excep This, Last night I decided to treat it as a brand new printer, right out of the box.
I turned it off, (the rocker switch) and unpluged everthing to it and left it overnight.
This morning I plug it in.  In this order, the Ethernet Cable from the Xfinity Modem / Router.  Then the Power Cord,
Then turned it on ( the rocker switch).  And let it go through the initaliting process.
Then at the printer panel on the printer, I printed out a fresh Configuration.  I noticed right away the IP Address was different than the one I had been trying to use.
Then I went into the System Preferences / Printers & Scanners.  Held down the Control Key with with the curser in the
big area where the Printers/Scanners are listed and clicked on it to reset the items inside that area. To clean everthing out.
Then  clicked the IP ikon and put the NEW IP Number in the address space.
BINGO !!!  Spacs started to fill up!  And I hit the Add Button.
I opened Illustrator and pulled up a file and went through the paces to print.  BINGO ! The printer went into action before
I took my finger off the button!
This is the first time I have ever posted anything. But I just had to tell y'all who have had the same trouble as I have.
So now,  you can have Happy Holidays with your MacPro OS X 10.10.1 and the HP 5000 series

I am trying to connect a Windows 7 / 64 bit to an Epson printer on my Mac.  The printer is hooked into the Mac via USB; the Mac is networked to a Linksys wireless router with an ethernet cable, as is the Windows box. I installed the current Bonjour printer services software on the Windows machine, and separately installed the driver software for the Epson printer on the WIndows machine.  Running the bonjour wizard, I get an alert saying 'I don't have sufficient access to my computer to connect to the selected printer'.
The printer has 'sharing' turned on from the Mac end; this works with a Powerbook via the wireless connection.  Sharing is also turned on in the Windows printer control panel for this printer (under properties).  The Mac is a G5 running 10.5.8.  When I try to print a page from the Windows machine it gets hung in the print queue.
Any advice how to proceed would be appreciated!

  • How do I connect TC to a new ethernet and share a new ethernet DSL with a new PC and use with my macbook Pro? I tried and get no internet on the PC or Macbook Pro?

how do I connect TC to a new ethernet and share a new ethernet DSL with a new PC and use with my macbook Pro? I tried and get no internet on the PC or Macbook Pro?

    Ok.
I am connected to wi-fi through TC connected to a specific router and is working perfectly and saving data through TM without any issues.
The TC version is 7.6.1 and am using OS 10.7.3
The router mode is on Bridge mode and router is connected to TC through USB cable, I suppose for internet access. My Mac is on wi-fi through TC
I have another location, much further, which recently have been installed with wi-fi through router that has WPA accessibiulity with password, 100% different than the current one.
Since, I will be most of my time in this new location, I wish to move my TC to this new location, and configure it in similar fashion like what I am having right now.
Naturally, I do not wish to lose any saved data on the TC.
Hope I managed to provide enought info.
    Thanks in advance

  • I have a Linksys WRV200 wireless router and the wireless signal is not working properly so I cannot connect to the internet wirelessly. the wireless light has a fast green blinking light. how can I fix the router?

I have a Linksys WRV200 wireless router and the wireless signal is not working properly so I am unable to connect to the internet wirelessly.  The wireless light is blinking green very quickly and I connect and disconnect from the network constantly.  How do I get the router to work properly

    Hello James,
The flashing WLAN light means activity (data getting transferred). Try disconnecting all your devices and check whether the light is still flashing or disconnect the router from internet and do the check.
Do you have your SSID as linksys or the default one? If your neighbor has the same SSID, then traffic could result from your neighbor's one. Try changing your SSID and password. Make your security WPA/WPA2.
    Hope this helps,
    Thanks

  • How to deploy connection (Mac OS X Yosemite to Windows RDS) through the RD Gateway with Two Factor authentication (Safenet OTP) on Session host?

    Good day!
Could you please help me? How to deploy connection (Mac OS X Yosemite to Windows RDS) through the RD Gateway with Two Factor authentication on Session host? How to open an authentication dialog that is the same as in Windows when logging on to network resources
    in Windows (Windows Security)?
Our test environment: We have one RDS 2012 R2 server (all roles in one) and one session host in collection. On the session host installed Safenet Network Logon and it under GPO which disable all authentication, only OTP.

    Hi Sir,
It seems that you are going to integrate 3rd party product into AD for authentication .
I would suggest you to contact the vendor of Safenet for this deployment  scenario  :

  • How do you replace a Virgin wireless router with a time capsule?

    Hi Folks
i have just bought a brand new 1tb time capsule yesterday and im trying to connect it too my virgin modem and replace the virgin wireless router i already have.....i thought it would be an easy setup of just plugging in the ethernet cable into the time capsule..but this has not worked??..can this be done?? i have restarted all devices too!...i am now clueless!
the the time capsule has backed up my hard drive (mac book pro) with no problems!
    kind regards
    kathdol

Are you talking about a separate modem and Virgin router, rather than their wretched 'Superhub' (modem and router combined) - the latter is a whole different can of worms.
Assuming the former, you should be able to remove the Virgin router and plug your Time Capsule into the modem: you will need to power down the modem and leave it for a few minutes (to forget the MAC address of the Virgin router), then plug in the TC and power up the modem. Make sure that the TC is set to 'Share a public IP number', not 'Distribute a range of IP numbers' or 'Bridge mode'. (If the interface is the same as the Airport Express it's 'Manual Setup'>'Internet' (in the toolbar)>Internet settings.

  • How can I turn off my Linksys 1200 wireless router?

    Hi,
I just got a Linksys 1200 wireless router and wanted to know how (and the best way) I can turn it off (besides unplugging it) when I am out of town?

    hi there.
there is no on/off switch in the router. these devices are meant to run 24/7 so there's no off on it.

  • Airport express can't connect to Linsys wireless router with security wpa2

Hi all, I have posted a question previously regarding trying to connect my airport express to my existing network, a Linsys wireless router....
I have now found that if I disable the wireless security (wpa2 personal) on my router the A/E connects though as soon as I enable security again the A/E drops out. I have checked the network name and password and all are definately correct.
    Any ideas?
    Cheers

Unfortunately I have tried absolutely everything and no go I have just discovered that I can still use it though by having it as a wired Lan connection to my Cisco router then the laptop wirelessly connects to the A/E through the router so not all bad just had to wire a lan point from one room to the other.
After talking with Apple support they say it's pretty hit and miss with what different routers the A/E will and wont connect with...
So save yourself a lot of heartache and just use as a wired connection
    Hope this helps

  • How to set up 6th Generation AirPort Extreme to cable modem as a wireless router and then connect my 3rd Generation Time Capsule to AirPort Extreme as a wireless extender?

What is the best way to set up my 6th Generation AirPort Extreme (A1521) to my cable modem as a wireless router and then connect my 3rd Generation Time Capsule (A1355) to my AirPort Extreme as a wireless extender? I live in a small 1 story house and I currently have the Airport Extreme connected to my cable modem in the living room and the Time Capsule plugged into the wall in my bedroom. I am able to wirelessly connect to the internet using the AirPort Extreme as my router and I can also do wireless back ups to my Time Capsule. My problem is that my connection seems to be really slow! My 1TB Time Capsule back up is only half way complete and it has been 3 days! My computer has been backing up all day and night for almost 72 hours and its still not even 75% complete. I have backed up to this Time Capsule in the past and it never took this long. I am thinking that when I set up my AirPort Extreme and Time Capsule using AirPort Utility I must have set it up incorrectly or something.
How do I set up my Airport Extreme and Time Capsule for the fastest possible internet speed and back up speed?
    Thank you,

AirPort Utility 5.6 works with AirPort Extreme 802.11g base stations.
It works with N version airports.
It will also show details of the AC model but cannot be used for the setup.. mostly.
I purposely got the new 6th Gen Airport Extreme so my internet connection would be a lot faster!
Your network will be much faster when you have AC client directly connected to the AE. Older client will go no faster.. but what is worse.. extend wireless is mixing new and old wireless standards.. guess what one wins.. OLD.. So when you extend wireless.. you have no improvement whatsoever. This whole post is about extending wireless.. so you cannot extend to older equipment and do any better.. maybe slightly better signal although from your comments that isn't happening either.
I would rather not have to use an ethernet at all with the TC and I don't know EOP adapters are!
If you do not use ethernet then you are going to be forced to accept slow speed.
EOP (ethernet over power). Also called homeplug in the US.
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HomePlug
Provides a method of networking over power cabling that already exists in your house.
So what your saying is for the fastest internet speed and back up speed possible I should keep my Airport Extreme plugged into my Modem and keep my TC set up as a wireless extender? Then when I want to do back ups I should plug an ethernet cable from my TC to my MacBook Pro?
    To spell this out.
A wireless link to an extended device will go very slowly.. if it is not direct.
So lets say you have a laptop sitting in the lounge.. Your connection goes.. Laptop- - - - - AE- - - - -TC.
That means two wireless links.. wireless has this nasty half duplex and single channel nature.. it can send or receive (Tx or Rx) but not at the same time.
Ethernet by contrast does both at once. It is full duplex.
Wireless can talk to one client at a time.. so if there are multiple items using wireless lets say 4 devices.. then your computer gets a 25% time slice. Since wireless cannot handle multiple simultaneous connections.
Ethernet by contrast can connect multiple computers to multiple destinations at the same time.. all transmitting and receiving at full speed.
When you put all this together.. there are a couple of rules for fast connection.
    1. Use ethernet at all times. Where you cannot use ethernet use anything but wireless.. eg EOP (homeplug) at least to try and get rid of wireless.
    2. Where you must use wireless use it sparingly and make sure it is never more than one hop.. ie never have an extend wireless (repeater is more usual term). Repeater will cause instant slowdown of 50% and maybe up to 75% just because it is so inefficient.
    3. Fastest wireless is 5ghz but it has very short range.. you need to be up close and personal to get it working.
Apple routers however unless you do manual setup I suggest are set to connect to best signal strength not best speed. It will therefore use 2.4ghz at 25% less speed than 5ghz because it is 1db better signal.. this madness means you need to setup manually for the best setup.

  • Photosmart C309g printer. how do i install it on a second computer. i have a belkin wireless router

my printer has stopped working from a second computer.
it is a photosmart C309g and i have a belkin wireless router. the main computer is XP and the second one is Windows 7.
it use to work before. i have forgotten how i set it up in the first place.

    Hi dan-fran,
Just need to download the driver from the link below, and then when you get to the connectivity screen of the installer select network/wireless. If the printer is already on your network the software will find the printer, and you can complete the installation of the software and driver.

The only problem is that my iPod touch and things and my PSP can detect the connection but are unable to join it. Why is this. It was working fine on my previous router. Is there some security thing I have to take off? How do i do this? Thanks in advance

I tried this and it went to a redish gray page that said "401 Unauthorized Authorization required" Help please?
It means you entered the wrong password or username, try some other passwords you might have used if the default admin doesn't work.

  • How do i find out if my imac is using my neighbour's wireless router?

i am new to macs.... when i bought my imac computer the sales person told me to enjoy my new computer and to call if any problems. He said to just plug it in and it will work with my existing wireless network ( i have two pc s as well using a wireless dell router). And he was right. Just plug it in. Amazing. No having to configure things, install things.....NOTHING ..(..Steve Jobs is my hero...and Bill Gates?...Boo,hiss and so on)
My question is this....how do i know that my computer is actually using my router and not one of my neighbor's wireless router on the road that i live on? ...the reason i ask this is that on rare occasions i cannot connect to the internet or i get disconnected....

Hello and Welcome to Apple Discussions.
If you go to the Airport Menu (or  Apple Menu > System Preferences... > Network if you haven't enabled the Airport menu ) you can see the SSID of the wireless network you are connected to.
If you are connected to your neighbour's network then he is showing poor practice in allowing his network to be unprotected. If your iMac has connected to your network without you entering the password the you are standing in to danger as you have an unprotected network too. Here are some reasons why you should protect your Wireless Network:
Bandwidth. If all your other neighbours decide not to pay for broadband Internet they get to use yours for free.
War Drivers. These a people in a car with a Wireless enabled laptop drive around looking for unprotected networks.
Your Network. Access to the files on your computer.
Criminal Activity. Your Internet Service Provider assigns you an IP address whilst you are on the Internet. If someone perpetrates a crime; spamming, illegal documents etc whilst "borrowing" your network you will be implicated and it will be difficult to prove this data wasn't passed through your computers.
So here's what you need to do now:
Change your SSID (from "Dell54g" or whatever it is right now). Nothing screams unprotected network like a default named SSID.
In your Router deselect "broadcast SSID" - this means that it's harder to find.
Unable WEP, WPA or WPA2 encryption to your network. A password will be required to access it from all you computers (but on the Mac at least you'll only need to enter it once the Mac will save it in you Keychain and reenter it everytime your Mac needs Wireless access).
Enable your Firewall in the router. This limits the use of certain ports. You should also check the the Mac's firewall ( Apple Menu > System Preferences... > Sharing > Firewall > ) has the more advanced features in use such as "Firewall Logging" and "Stealth Mode". Unfortunately your Windows machines don't have this feature.
Enable MAC blocking. Whilst it's easy to spoof a MAC address, so it shouldn't be used a primary security method, it will help. A MAC address is a worldwide unique hardware number in the form 00 00 00 00 00 00 that every piece of network hardware has (so your iMac has 3 MAC addresses (Ethernet, Firewire and Airport) and your PCs will also have multiple MAC addresses too - you can find them in  Apple Menu > About this Mac... > More Info...). Enter these MAC Addresses into your Dell router and then the router will only talk to devices which match that hardware address.
So the bottom line; right now I would be very concerned about the security of your wireless network. Whilst your Mac is probably safe because of how robust OS X is with it's own Firewall and Unix style Admin, your PCs are wide open to abuse right now.
I'm sure that my reply raises more questions than answers so feel free to come back to us.
    kind regards
