How do I connect my ipad2 to a linksys router

Can anyone help with this issue?  My iPad2 "sees" my wireless network, but it won't allow me to join it.  However, when I or other people bring their wireless PCs to my house, they have no problem connecting to my home network.  I am clueless when it comes to these issues. Please help.

To connect to a wireless network you need three pieces of information to supply to the network from the iPad; the name of the network, the type of security protocol the network is using and the password to join.
In Setting/Wi-Fi tap Other...
Type the exact name of the network
Select the correct security protocol
Type the exact password
Tap Join

How can I connect the ipad2 to an Epson Stylus SX445W wifi printer?
Any help appreciated. Obviously I'm not technically minded so simple... Sorry... Very simple instructions would be great. Thanks

Does the iPad come up with a "no AirPrint printers found" message? If so, the most common fault is that the printer isn't on the same WiFi network as the iPad. Your printer may also need a firmware update. Epson has some support information here that may be of help:

How do I connect my ipad2 with my HP photo smart C4780 printer?

I don't think that printer is capable of AirPrint.  If the printer has WiFi or can be connected to WiFi, you can use an iPad App like Print n Share.  If not, you can use a computer program like Printopia to share the printer as AirPrint over WiFi.
Take a look at the free iPad App, HP iPrint Photo.  It has some limitations but should at least get you printing.

As Rick and Reza have both noted, number of routable Ethernet ports varies per ISR G2 model.  Ethernet switch options would allow the most Ethernet ports, but you need to route through them using SVIs.
However, most ISR G2s often do not have the performance capacity to run their built-in Ethernet ports at full capacity.  Often the add-in Ethernet ports have bandwidth restrictions to/from the port.
Basically, ISR G2 routers were designed to have a LAN Ethernet connection and some WAN, non-Ethernet connection, of much less bandwidth.
ISR G2 router performance is also very much impacted by device configuration.

  • How do I set up security on my linksys router after the i...

How do I set up security on my linksys router after the install of a net gear wireless pc adapter?

Setting up your wireless connection in your router.
1.Open Internet Explorer and type 192.168.1.1 into the address bar.
2.You will now get a sign-in box, User Name = (Leave Blank)
Password = admin (all lower case letters)
3.Once the set-up page opens, click on the Wireless Tab as youwill need to change the settings. A) Wireless Network Mode = Mixed
                  B) Wireless Network Name (SSID) = Choose any name and do not use Linksys.
                  C) Wireless Channel = 1, 6 or 11 is best, so see which work best for you.
                  D) Wireless SSID Broadcast = Enabled.
    4. Now go to the bottom of the page and click on save settings.
    5. Click on the Wireless Security Sub tab.
                  A) Security Mode: WPA
                  B) WPA Algorithms: TKIP + AES
                  C) WPA Shared Key:  Type 24 letters, and numbers using lower and upper case letters
                  D) Group Key Renewal: 3600
    6. Once again go to the bottom of the page and click on Save Settings.
    7. Now you can close out of this page.
    8. You will now need to enter the security info into your computer. I will now give you 2 links, depending which operating system you have, Vista or XP you will follow the one you have.
    Vista = http://www.home-network-help.com/wireless-adapter-configuration-in-vista.html
    XP = http://www.home-network-help.com/wireless-adapter.html
Now try to make a wireless connection.
    Good Luck,

  • How to wifi connect mac to canon mg6120-no router

New macbook pro and canon mg6120 printer. How do i get them to talk directly to one another without a router?  Apple store rep said "yes" it can be done.

    Hello Joan,
I believe what the rep was suggesting is that you can configure the device using an ad-hoc connection. That is to say have them wireless communicate with one another and not use a router. Unfortunately the support documentation for this device is pretty specific - http://usa.canon.com/app/pdf/wireless/additl_MG6120_mac.pdf
It DOES NOT support ad-hoc connections, thus you'd need the router in the equation. I recommend contacting the store or the rep you spoke with for clarification. Because unless they know how to do it, the documentation is pretty clear that it is not supported.

  • How do i extend my wifi with a linksys router?

I have a network set up with a time machine extending to 2 separate airport expresses. I am trying to use a linksys router in place of one airport express in order to capture a stronger signal. I can't figure out how to get the linksys to communicate with the time machine without using an ethernet cable. Does anyone know how to do this?

Bob is being polite.. Apple people are like that.. !
I am more the typical nasty windows support person.
    Mate!!
    It will never work..
You haven't got a hope. Apple build their stuff to make sure your wretched Linksys cannot even see the Time Capsule.. (they make confusing names as well. Time Machine being software.. Time Capsule being the box you are talking about).
If you can flash your model Linksys to DD-WRT then you might get it working using universal repeater mode.. but even if it works the stability of it is so poor you will find 30min torture preferable.
You can plug the Linksys into the Express by ethernet.. and use the Linksys in wan bypass mode and extend wireless that way.. although the point of doing what the express is already doing is moot.

  • How can i connect my ipad2 without the 3g chip to another ipad2 with the chip?to another

I have two ipads2 with 3G, one has a working chip and the other one doesn't.
I would like to have the one without the chip, connected to the internet through the ipad with the chip, is this possible? How?

Currently only the iPhone 4 and 3GS have the personal hotspot function (and then only if your carrier supports it) - it's not supported on the iPad

  • How can I connect my iPad2 WiFi (no 3G) to my wired DSL modem (not wireless capable)?  is there an adapter I can connect to the modem?

Yesterday I ordered an iPad 2 WiFi version (no 3G) and I want to know if it's possible to connect it to my DSL modem that is not wifi/wireless.  Is there some sort of wifi adapter I can buy to connect to the modem or do I need to buy a wireless router?
    TIA

If you have a desktop that can do "Internet sharing" and wi-fi, you may be able to use that instead of buying a router. I haven't done tihs recently but played with it with my iMac before I bought a wireless router.
But a router is the better option. They're not expensive and recent ones have some decent security. I have a Netgear WGR614 (v10) with a firewall built in making me double firewalled on the desktop (where all the really critical stuff lives like banking info and all) and it has an "access control" option where you not only password your network but specify exactly which devices can connect at all. Something I like because the signal reaches the street outside the house. That's a bit more "reach" than I like. Though, funny thing, my brother (who's iPad is authorized to use my net) did a quick update by pulling into my driveway once while I wasn't even here.
Any wireless can have a surprising reach. I live in a fairly rural area and I pick up on other peoples' wireless all the time. Which, out here, I did not expect.

  • How do I connect an HP printer via Linksys printserver to a wireless network

    Hi:
I have an HP laptop running Windows Vista 32-bit Home Premium.
It is connected wirelessly to the Internet via a Motorola SBG6580 cable Gateway.
    I have an HP C6280 All-In-One printer/copier/scanner: wireless is  not  built-in.
A Linksys WPSM54G Printerserver is connected (hardwired) to the printer.
Currently, the printer is connected to the laptop via USB cable, and I am able to print.
(Previously, my wireless network connectivity was via a Linksys WRT54G router,
along with a modem. These were replaced with the Gateway.)
How do I setup wireless connectivity between the Printserver and the Gateway ?
I am not very network savvy (yet) , so I am not familiar with wireless connectivity details.
    Any ideas ???
    Thank you
    DaleBr

From what I can tell you need help connecting the Linksys printer server to your network.  Linksys has good instructions for the configuring the printserver.  I've linked that site.
After the printer server is on line you might need to change the printer driver setings to reflect the new settings.  A driver software reinstall should do that.

  • How do I connect my laptop to my Linksys wireless router through the internal wireless card?

I just purchased a gateway laptop and was trying to hook my Linksys wireless router up to it. Ive gotten it hooked up but only through the secondary device (that catches the signal)... I was wondering if there is anyway that I could make my internal wireless internet card a point or no? Can I only connect it to the USB network adapter or is there really a way to go COMPLETELY wireless? Thank you for your time...

Is your internal wireless card enabled? Go to device manager and make sure it is enabled.

  • Connecting a new computer through linksys router

I have a WRT54G wireless router ... I want to connect a new laptop through it ... but I need either a network key or a password ... cant locate these .. can anyone help?

To get network key, connect your computer to one of the four ports on router using ethernet cable. Open setup page of router by typing http://192.168.1.1 in browser’s address bar, and typing password as "admin" and no user name. Use your password if you have changed it earlier. Go to wireless tab. Go to wireless security sub-tab. If security mode is wpa or wpa2 note down passphrase/shared key, if security mode is WEP note down wep key number 1. This will be your network key
