How do I get automator to turn off App Nap?

I am trying to get automator to turn off app nap and then after a period of time turn it back on. So far what I have done is put the following string of code into a shell script but I think I am doing something wrong...
defaults write NSGlobalDomain NSAppSleepDisabled -bool YES
Any suggestions?

Turning off App Nap is not fixing my FCP rendering issue

I noticed that Mavericks was killing my rendering in FCP. I like to let it run overnight, and it was simply shutting off.
I did some research and learned about app nap, and how it was shutting down my rendering.
I went to finder, found FCP, and disabled app nap... but I'm STILL having problems with the rendering. It just stops! This is adding days and days to my production time, and I don't know how to fix it.
This is really really throwing a cramp in my work, and I'm really not please with apple for this one.

I switched MacBooks to complete my rendering... I will set up a new project tonight and let you know if adjusting these settings helped.
That said... I have to NEVER allow my computer to sleep, just so this rendering can take place? That's a little bit absurd.

It's the magnets in the cover which activate the lock/unlock feature to appear in your settings. In earlier iPads you could slide a magnet down the side of the iPad to find where the magnet activates and turn the feature on.....Apple have now changed how this works with the iPad Air. Whereas before there was only 1 magnet positioned in the cover for earlier iPads, it is now thought there are 2 with alternating polarity.
So if you want this feature you will need to buy an Apple cover or wait for third party manufacturers to get their magnets in the correct position.
If you do have a genuine Apple cover then there is something going wrong here....

Is there a way to get automator to turn off dropbox if my external drive is disconnected and possibly reconnect drive and restart dropbox?

I am using my Time capsule to contain my iPhoto and some larger image folders as I have a 128gb macbook air.
I use dropbox to backup these folders using a program called MacFropAny to create links to these folders on the ext drive.
All works well until the drive is not there and dropbox has a fit and starts to delete all my folders (75gb worth)
This gets quite frustrating... I have an automator script that runs on log in to make sure that the drive is connected, this is cool, but I would like something that says something like:
if drive is disconnected > close dropbox if open > attempt to reconnect drive > if drive is reconnected restart dropbox
Is this possible to have an automator script that "listens" for a drive being disconnected and then run?

I had a similar issue with my phone.....it just shut off and wouldn't come back on even thought it was charged. My daughter toggled the mute switch several times and then she pressed and held down the home and lock buttons. It worked......would be worth a shot.

It's more than likely broken, a part has failed. You need to take it to a Apple store Genius Bar to be checked out and fixed. Or just buy a new Mac as to fix the one you have might be cost prohibitive. Especially if your warranty has expired.

I am at a new office that uses Outlook (not Outlook Exchange) which does not sync with my mobile... I just got iCloud set up on my PC to sync my contacts, calendar, reminders, etc... The sync worked (not without flaws, but the other issues seem solvable... I think), so that i can now see all my appointments on both my phone and on my PC. The problem I am having is that iCloud moved all of my calendar items from Outlook into iCloud calendar and now when I send out meeting/calendar invites the recipients may accept them, but the meeting does not get added to their calendar. This is a huge problem and may mean that i need to turn off iCloud.
Does anyone know how to fix this?

I am replying to my own post here as I seem to have fixed the problem.
I do have some calendars that are shared. Some of those are shared with users who have time zone support turned on. So i activated time zone support on my iphone, then deleted my icloud subscription. I then signed in to icloud again and voila... problem solved.
It is a weird one as the other calendar views were always fine and when you opened an event that appeared in the wrong day (on list view), the correct date of the event was shown in the information...

She is making in app purchases. Probably not knowing what that means to your monthly credit card bill. Use the Settings app to enable restrictions and turn on restrictions for iTunes, App Store and in app purchases, mabe some others too. The restrictions will be set with a passcode to prevent your daughter from changing them.

Can't get shuffle to turn off

can't get shuffle to turn off, have reset ipod, synced with itunes, everything i can think of.

How in the world did you figure that out? I was going crazy trying to get it to turn off. Should I keep Shake to Shuffle turned off? If you want it to shuffle do you just reverse the process? One last thing, what is the little icon on the other side for? I had to turn it off as well to get shuffle to stop. Thanks planb.
