How do I get firefox to let me access my email and favorite web sites?

Firefox freezes up every other time I log into my gmail account. I also can't see my home page (wall) on facebook. There several games I an unable to keep access to as well, one of which is on facebook. I have tried reloading firefox 3 times. After the last reload every time I open firefox I get the welcome page and it sets firefox as my home page (which it won't let me change to google).

How long were you running Firefox before it started misbehaving?
Usually reinstalling or uninstalling/installing Firefox will only cure a small number of issues, primarily issues with corrupted program files. The reason is that most Firefox issues are caused by stuff in your personal settings folder.
But don't delete all your personal settings. Instead, try the Reset feature. This duplicates certain key data from your active settings folder into a new one, bypassing some add-ons and custom settings. Your old settings folder will be relocated to your desktop as Old Firefox Settings, in case you need to rescue anything from it after the reset.

Thanks for the response Steve. I can create a .flv file, I can create an .avi file and I can burn to a file. However, using Premiere, when I drop that .avi into the new timeline and try to burn it to disk, I get the same message" operating system error: number 0x000004c8- The requested operation cannot be performed on a file with a usermap". It would be good to be able to burn from Premiere Elements but I cannot seem to. However, as you suggested, I have a work around.
I've done some research and it seems usermap is connected to Windows 7 permissions and I have had a problem in PE9 accessing files and getting a permissions error. Don't know if this is a PE9 conflict or just a W7 issue. If you have any thoughts, I'd appreciate them. If I find anything further I'll post it here.

How can I get Firefox to let me use Internet Explorer. I have to use it to register some software and Firefox is blocking it and all of Microsoft.

We recently had to reinstall windows xp pro on our computer. We then reinstalled Mozilla.
I have to reinstall all of my software such as my Microsoft Office, but our computer will only go through Internet Explorer to activate it. However, Firefox will not allow access to any Microsoft site. Firefox says that the Microsoft sites do not provide identity information and therefore will not allow them.
I am a professional writer. I need my Microsoft Office to work and it cannot work unless I can activate it.

Just open IE, Firefox doesn't block it from working. You can even have both browsers open at the same time, if you want to.

How can I get Firefox to include the http when copying and pasting from the address bar?

I know you can use "browser.urlbar.trimURLs" in about:config to re-enable the display of "http://" on URLs in the address bar, but I think there's an actual bug with hiding them in the address bar that should be corrected:
When I click and drag in the address bar to select part of an address, including the beginning of the address, then use CTRL+C to copy it, and CTRL+V to paste it into something else, the pasted URL does not include "http://"; this is often inconvenient and will break in certain forms and so on.
In Chrome--where I guess the http-hiding feature was copied from--if you click and drag to select part of the URL including the beginning, then copy, when you paste, the "http://," hidden in their address bar, *is* included. That's how it *should* work. Firefox's implementation is incomplete and frustrating.

This is a known problem and should be fixed in Firefox 8.

How can i get Firefox to change all the printable info on a web page print to black, so i can see the printout?

Firefox correctly changes the print background to white, but leaves the colored info as it was on the web page. My monochrome printer uses Grey Scale to interpret the colors, but most colors are interpreted with so dimly that they cannot be seen on the printout.
I am running Firefox 3.6.10 with Ubuntu Firefox Modifications 0.9rc2 and the OS is Ubuntu 10.04. I have disabled the Ubuntu Firefox Modifications Extension, but the results are the same.

Facebook messages: Open Facebook > press the Menu key > Options > scroll down to and UNselect the option to integrate Facebook with your Messages application.
For both Facebook and Calendar notifications, go to your profiles and set the notications for these two apps to be silent or no notification.

How do I get Elements 11 to download part 2 from the Adobe web site?

I purchased an upgrade from the Adobe web site to take my Photoshop Elements form 9 to 11. I could not find any instructions, so I decided to download the alternate method consisting of two parts. I got part one downloaded. Then I tried to download part two. The download no longer did anything. I noticed on the bottom of the screen where the part one progress bar had been, there was now a note that said there were local updates to be done. I said OK and the updates ran as four parts. When they were done, I again tried to download part two. Nothing. I then decided to try the Akamai (sp?) Download manager program. It would not download either. Should I wipe out part one and start over? Or, is there another solution? I am using Windows 7. Thank you.
