How do I import from Illustrator to Flash?

I some pretty complicated illustrations that I will be using
to build a FLASH demo. What is the best way to import without
wigging out the artwork once in FLASH?

from AI:
File > Export > SWF
then import the SWF into flash.
AI has had an SWF exporter for a few versions now and works
great for me everytime.

  • Cannot import from Illustrator to Flash

I am using Illustrator CS and Flash MX. I have my page layout
in Illustrator, then when I try to import into Flash, I get an
error message. I even saved the .AI file to an .EPS file, I am
prompted to save as layers or frames, but when i select either, and
click OK, I get an error message stating that parts of my file is
missing. When I try to import from the .AI file, I don't even get
the option to chose layers or frames, it just immediately gives the
same error as before. However, my files are okay when I open them.
Any ideas as to what is wrong?

Make sure your Illustrator files are downsaved to version 6.
Or perhaps just export SWF from Illustrator and import that to
    Flash.
Hopefully now that ADBE and MACR can talk to each other this
will get better. However since the features in Illustrator are
exploding relentlessly, it is hard to see how Flash and the export
    filters can keep up.

  • Import from illustrator to flash not working (PNG/SWF)

I spent 2 days making some lovely pictures in illustrator,
all ready to go into flash. I first exported them into PNG from
illustrator and tried importing that that way but after clicking OK
nothing appeared on the stage or in the library. There were no
error messages. I then tried exporting from illustrator in swf
format. This time the picture appeared on the stage, with
associated symbols etc. in the library, but when I came to publish
the movie, the picture wasn't there at all. I finally tried copying
and pasting from illustrator. This simply crashed flash every time.
Has this happened to anyone else before? Or does anyone have
any suggestions as to what the problem might be or how i could go
about resolving it? Any help greatly appreciated. I'm begging for
    your help. Thanks.
Adobe Illustrator CS2, Flash 8, Mac. (Png attached)

    This never happened to me.
I use Illustrator 10 and Flash 8 Pro.
Don't use .png (too heavy files).
Use, as you did, export .swf in Illustrator.
But be careful with export parameters!
    Which ones did you use?
In Flash, did you group the parts and convert them to a
    symbo

  • Proble in importing from Illustrator to flash

    Hi,
I am developing a map application in flash. The map have so

    1. the text alignment is distorted.
and its first color of the text is changed to red color.
    2. The map file has lines also. the lines are converted in
    dotted line automatically.
How can i get rid from this problem.
Can i import tabular data from ms word in flash. The data

  • Importing from Illustrator into Flash

    Hello,
I've created a text graphic in Illustrator CS2, which is stretched and with a light fill + a thin black stroke (0.1pt).
When importing into the Flash (CS3) library, I get an error message telling me that there's a compatibility problem because of the stretched text. Everything, besides the fact that the text should be stretched but isn't, looks fine in the graphic that's imported. All well and good, I go over to Illustrator and convert the text to outlines.
Then I try importing again, no error messages. But I get the problem that the outline is thicker than it was in Illustrator. Too thick. (Looks like 1 or 2pt).
I go back to Illustrator and outline the stroke, group the objects together for the sake of it, and try importing again. This time, the outline correctly displays on about 1/3 of the letters. But the rest..now have absolutely no stroke..
I then make a compound path out of all the objects. Which changed nothing, about how it imports into Flash.
I decided to just place the text as a jpeg/bitmap image in Flash, and it looks normal as in, the stroke is the right thickness and all letters have a stroke. But of course, it's pixels. And looks pretty horrible, especially where the letters get rather thin.
So I'm left clueless. Why won't the Illustrator file simply import as it should?
And how can I get it to do so?
    Thanks
    El

Would converting the text to Flash text in Illustrator be helpful?

  • How to properly import from Illustrator?

When I copy geometry to the clipboard and paste it into Muse, there is a black rectangle around the actual geometry that I can not select. Is there a way to make this work?

You might consider trying to save your finished work in Adobe Illustrator and then changing over to Adobe Muse and utilizing the "Place" command in the "File" menu which allows you to open your saved Adobe Illustrator file and import it into your Muse setting where you so choose to place it.  I'm guessing that the features you are working with in Illustrator are not yet available in this edition of Muse to where you are able to edit and adjust the Illustrator item within the Muse setting.  You'll want to continue to edit the file in Illustrator and as long as the file name you saved it under and placed in the Muse setting remains the same, any editions to the Adobe Illustrator file change instantly in Adobe Muse as well.  Another option is to save it within Illustrator as a Photoshop file and then again placing it into your Muse setting.  What is nice about the Photoshop format is it keeps all the layers and functions and then you can right click the item in the Muse setting and select "Edit Original" which will open the item in Photoshop and you can instantly edit what you require, hit save and the change will instantly take place in Muse.  This might also be the case with Illustrator items, but it is my understanding and experience that they are still working on more fully integrating Illustrator within Muse (like they have Photoshop) in future editions.

  • Jumpy, choppy animation (imported from Illustrator)

Hello, I am having a problem with some vines I imported from illustrator having very choppy animation. Every other animation in my project thus far has been smooth, except for the vines which I just want to move slowly and slightly as if blowing in the wind. I did the same effect for some leaves in the background which animate fine, so its something to do with the vines in particular.
I imported all the shapes from Illustrator (the vine shafts, leaves, and thorns) which came into flash as "drawing objects". I then turned every piece into individual movie clips, and then combined everything further into 4 seperate movie clips I could animate. The animation is very simple, just rotating back and forth ever so slightly accrost 250 frames.
I uploaded the .swf in question which you can download here: http://www.filedropper.com/splashscreen10
I appreciate any and all help! Thanks!

From the sound of it, I'm having this exact same problem. Does anyone have suggestions for how to solve this problem?

  • Object Imported from Illustrator Changes When Rendering

I am creating a page that can be seen here:
    http://www.jalc.org/springswing2010/
The problem is, when I import the lightning bolt from Illustrator into Flash, the two pointed corners in the lightning bolt are sharp and pointed.  However, after rendering they become rounded.  Can anyone explain how to avoid this?
    Thanks in advance,
    Andy

Bob, pulling in the gradient from Illy isn't working for me. I'm using ID 5.5 for Windows. I'm trying to paste in a button and it comes in as pieces and I cannot resize it properly (the gradient goes whacko). I tried just doing a simple box with a gradient so I could recreate the button, but the swatch does not appear in the panel. I tried changing the preferences and that just made it come in as a bitmap instead of a vector. What am I doing wrong?

  • Importing from illustrator

im having a problem moving a file from illustrator to flash.
i can get the file to move but part of the file is an object with a
pattern swatch as a fill and when i import it into flash there are
some gray x's that show up. i dont want to rasterize the object
because it has a transparency to it that turns white when
rasterized. Anyone know how to solve this?

Make sure that all your elements are on separate layers in Illustrator. Import as a composition retaining layer size then use tools like Puppet Pin or effects like Mesh Warp to distort the boundaries of the layer so thy stretch up and down like rubber.
Animating the actual vector path can be done using the techniques Mylenium suggested but it would be far more difficult and time consuming and you'll loose things like gradient fills and Illustrator effects. As long as you have continuous rasterization turned on you can stretch and bounce one or all of your  Illustrator layers to your hearts' content without any worries about pixelization.
Take a alook at this tutorial by Angie Taylor. It shows how she uses Puppet Pin to make bottles dance.

  • What is the best practices workflow from illustrator to flash in cs 6?

Hello- question from an illustrator to flash workflow n00b.
I'm creating a flash experience with animated characters.
I'm building my art assets in illustrator.
I've found it relatively easy & straightforward to import assets from illustrator into flash.
I can conveniently import my layers and symbols from illustrator as separate layers and symbols in flash and manipulate them.
However, let's say after import I want to change something with an asset using illustrator. For example, I have a character with facial features, including eyes. I want to change the eyes in illustrator and have those changes then be propogated in some way- automagically or manually- in flash.
What is the right way to do this? Are there best practices for being able to go back and forth between flash and illustrator?
    Thank you!
    ~ sae

    Thanks for the reply Suhas.
I guess the answer to my question is that there is no good way. In the photoshop/illustrator workflow, I can paste a document from illustrator into photoshop and then double-click it in photoshop to open it back up in illustrator and edit the original. I have seen posts on people doing this between Flash and Illustrator with the now-discontinued Flash Catalyst- a process that was apparently called round-tripping. Ideally, this is the functionality I'd like to have between Flash and Illustrator but I take it from your reply that the answer is 'Does not exist.'

  • Smart Object import from Illustrator to Photoshop ( CS5 )

    Hello !
    Here's the thing:
I have an icon in Illustrator and I'm designing a website in Photoshop so I copy and paste that icon as a Smart Object in Photoshop and everything is perfect but when I resize that Smart Object is not perfect anymore.
    *The document is 200 %
-The first icon is the original file I import from Illustrator and It's 100%
-I resize the second icon to 70%
Now look at those gray light lines around the second icon. Why is that happening ? How can I fix it ?
    Thanks !
PS: Sorry for my English I just speak a little bit.

    Hi, again, Sunniess.
Now look at those gray light lines around the second icon. Why is that happening ? How can I fix it ?
You may be sorry you asked. I didn't have time to bore you with the answer to that earlier.
The gray lines are being generated in Ps, so this should be of interest to anyone who works with small images in Ps.
When you export from Illy using the clipboard, Illy rounds to the nearest whole pixel. A rounded rectangle is created in Illy  measuring 73x30 pixels.   If you scale the rectangle 70% in Illy, the new rectangle measures 51.1 x 21 pixels. But it pastes into Ps as 51x21 pixels.
If you import the 73x30 pixel image into Ps and scale 70% , instead of 51x21 pixels, you will get either 52x21, 53x21, 52x23 or 53x23 pixels, depending on where the Reference point locator (highlighted below) is set in the Transform Toolbar. The gray lines are the extra pixels.
Why the extra pixels? The extra pixels are a form of dithering. When you scale the  73x30 imported image 70% in Ps,  you get 51.1 x 21 pixels, same as in Illy. But Ps doesn't round to the nearest pixel. It creates fractional pixels. In the screenshot below,  the rectangle is rendered 52x21. The lines at top and bottom are sharp because the pixel height is a whole integer, 21. But the width is 51.1. There's a decimal fraction. The gray vertical bar at right is how Ps represents fractional pixels. The .1 of 51.1. Ps can't actually make .1 of a  pixel black. So instead it makes 1 pixel .1 black by assigning 10% opacity.
If the Reference point locater is set as below, you get a different result. Now the rectangle renders at 53x23 pixels. You now have gray rows of pixels at top and bottom, as well as both sides. The height is still really 21 pixels, but since it is transforming from the center and it's an odd number, Ps splits a pixel, assigning .5 black pixels at the top, and .5 black pixels at the bottom, which it represents with 2 rows of pixels at 50% opacity. Similar thing with the ends, except they are lower opacity because they represent smaller fractions of a pixel. This pretty much reproduces what your icon looks like.
Below is a closeup of the above rectangle over a blue background. The  rows of pixels aren't actually gray. They are semi transparent black.
The point is, how the Reference point locator is set can have unexpected influence on the results, particularly when downsizing small images. And will be most noticable on straight vertical or horizontal edges.
As if that weren't enough, there are options in your General Preferences that affect the results of resizing images.
I copied and pasted your icon into Ps, then scaled it 70% at two different settings.
The top is Bicubic, the botttom is Nearest Neighbor.
A significant difference. And this interacts with the Transform Locator setting to further confuse the issue. But if you resize in Illy you avoid all this.
If you resize in Ps, it's good to be aware of this stuff. This all happens in Ps. It really has nothing to do with Illy. If you must scale in Ps and get noticable rows of fractional pixels, it's easy enough to select the rows and just delete them. Or fill them. That's essentially what Illy does when it copies to the clipboard.
Your English is fine. I hope mine makes as much sense.
    Peace,
    Lee

  • How do i import from my sony hd videocam

    I have 3 questions.
    1)  How can I import my video from my sony HD videocam to my iMac (OS X Lion) ... it does not seem to allow it
    2)  If not allowed, do you recommend any apps or software that can do it?
    3)  Also, how can I import from my PC laptop SONY PMB (picture motion browser) to my iMac
I would appreciate it if anyone can help.  Thank you very much.

ad 1) connect via usb, set on/Play, choose Import from Camera in iMovie
    http://help.apple.com/imovie/
ad 2) any other designated video-edit app .......
ad 3) export files from SonyPC to some mass-storage device (ext harddrive, flash mem stick, ), import from there
    keep in mind:
iM is by concept meant for camcorders.
doesn't support any resolution, any aspect ratio, any codec ......

  • I run Final Cut Express 4.0.1; I shoot with a Sony HDR-CX260V. How do I import from the camera directly to Final Cut, without having to go through the intermediate step of using iMovie?

    I use Final Cut Express 4.0.1; I shoot with a Sony HDR-CX260V.
How do I import from camera to Final Cut without going through the intermediate step of using iMovie?

If you shoot in one of the following modes you should be able to Log & Transfer directly into FCE:
HD:  1920x1080/60i (FX or FH mode)
HD:  1440x1080/60i (HQ or LP mode)
    SD:  720x480/60i
1080/60p (PS mode) seems to be the default mode in your camcorder.  FCE only supports progressive video in 720p50 or 720p60.   That's probably why you have had to import via iMovie.
It would be better to upgrade to Final Cut Pro X, the version currently supported.  FCE was discontinued over 18 months ago and is not supported on Lion or Mountain Lion.

how do i import from my Aperture 3 to 3.5.1 as Aperture 3 says it needs to be upgraded to 3.5.1 which I have done but i still cannot see any photographers.
Are you trying to import an older Aperture 3 library? Or do you just want to open your old library in Aperture 3.5.1?
In any case the Aperture library needs to be upgraded, not the Aperture application. Double-click your old Aperture library to open it in Aperture. Then Aperture will upgrade the library, so it can be opened in Aperture  and you can can browse it.
Since upgrading your Aperture library to Aperture 3.5.1 will require a major rebuilding the library in a new format be sure to make a backup copy of your library before doing this, just to be safe.

  • How do I import from Canon XM2 Final Cut Pro X on a MacBook Pro?

How do I import from a Canon XM2 to MacBook Air using Final Cut Pro X or iMovie 11 please?

This is a miniDV camcorder. For this camcorder you must use Firewire.
If your MBP has Firewire 800, you need a 4 pin to 9 pin firewire cable.
The camera must be plugged into wall power, not batteries only.
Set the camera to Play, and iMovie should recognize the camera and an import screen should appear.
