How do I install on this MacBook ver. ?

I have a white MacBook, version unknown.
Disk repair complete, Contents erased.
It says Tiger install not compatible.
It says 10.3 incompatible.   What to do?
Target mode from MacPro.
If I do not use target mode, the macBook
only gives me ? screen, wont recognize disk insert.
Thanks,
Steve Z

10.3 will not work at all.  There was never a version of 10.3 available for MacBooks (only for the PowerPC architecture used before Apple switched to Intel).  10.4 was available for the first generation MacBooks, but I'm not sure if there was a retail version that provided the full hardware support that was found on the restore media that would have shipped with your MacBook.  You will need to either use the restore media that came with your MacBook or a retail version which is a version and build later than that which shipped with your machine.

Does your Mac meet the requirements?
    Lion 10.7 System Requirements
        •    Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7, or Xeon processor (most models released since late 2006 - early Intel-based Macs with Core Solo or Core Duo processors aren't compatible)
        •    2GB of memory (recommend at least 4GB -- and ideally even more, as you'll see benefits in many computing tasks)
        •    OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended) for Lion download from Apple App Store; or Leopard 10.5.x if using Lion on USB drive
        •    7GB of available space (10GB recommended)

    1. The scrolling, as far as I've been able to determine, is by using the slide bar to the right of most diplays. There are no up or down arrows that allow slow movement
    2. The top and botton toolbars are not visible. The top one appears when you point the arrow to the top of the screen but the same doesn't work well if at all pointing the cursor to the bottom.
    3. When downloading, something jumps to the upper right of the screen. I could point and click it and get a diplay if my downloads. I was attempting to fix some of the above. Now the little thing jumps off the screen and I can't get to it.
4I was trying to installMacBook Pro EFI Firmware Update 2.3. I got message it couldn't be installed on my system.
    5. The red yellow and blue bullets that allow shutting down, minimizing and maximizing are missing on most open windows.
Can you do something about these problems
It's problematical that one can't communicate directly with Apple to resolve these problems

1: I'm scrolling this page right now using the arrow keys.
2: Press the escape (esc) key to exit full-screen mode. Select Apple menu > Dock > Turn Hiding Off.
    3: ???
4: That's because you downloaded an update for another model.
    5: See 2.

Read the system requirements for iCloud.  It is not compatible with Snow Leopard which your system profile confirms you have.

  • HT201316 I have downloaded lion on my imac, how do I install on my macbook?

I have downloaded lion on my imac, how do I install on my macbook?

If you purchased and downloaded Lion from the Appstore on the iMac, Sign into the MacApp store using the same AppleID on the Macbook.  Look in the Purchased tab and it sould be available for download.
You'll need to have 10.6.8 on your macbook first as App store support isn't available on 10.5

  • I installed lion on my imac, how do I install on my macbook?

I installed lion on my imac, how do I install on my macbook?

First, your MacBook must meet the minimum system requirements for Lion. You need a core 2 duo processor or better. You need 2GB of RAM. You need at least 7GB of available disk space. You also need to be already running Snow Leopard (Mac OS X version 10.6.8 or later).
Once those requirements are met, go to the Mac App store on your MacBook and sign into it using the same Apple ID you used to purchase Lion for your iMac. Do a search for Lion and install it from the App store. There should be no further charge.
    Best of luck.

  • As an elderly rookie, I don't know how to download, install, & activate this software. Please help!

I bought this but do not know how to download, install, and activate it. Please help!

Let's start with the basics. Adobe have a baffling number of choices.
    1. What is your computer system? For example, Windows 7, Mac OS Yosemite
    2. What exactly are you trying to download and install? If you paid for it, check your receipt for the exact name.
    3. Did you pay for it already? If so did you subscribe or get a one time purchase?

How do I install lion on my macbook the same as my imacbook

Assuming the MacBook meets Lion's system requirements and has Mac OS X 10.6.6 or newer installed, the same way you installed it on the iMac, except that you won't be charged again. If you still have the installer, you can move it instead of downloading it again.

Install Mavericks, Lion/Mountain Lion Using Internet Recovery
Be sure you backup your files to an external drive or second internal drive because the following procedure will remove everything from the hard drive.
Boot to the Internet Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND-OPTION- R keys until a globe appears on the screen. Wait patiently - 15-20 minutes - until the Recovery main menu appears.
Partition and Format the hard drive:
Select Disk Utility from the main menu and click on the Continue button.
After DU loads select your newly installed hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Partition button and wait until the process has completed. Quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion. Mavericks: Select Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion, Mavericks and click on the Install button. Be sure to select the correct drive to use if you have more than one.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.
This should restore the version of OS X originally pre-installed on the computer.

  • Mac Help disappeared - how to re-install just this

Mac Help has disappeared from our i Book. How can we re-install just the "Help" and not risk losing or corrupting everything on the hard drive?
    Thank you.

    Hi D44,
first try this: FIXED: Help Viewer crashes or shows blank window.
If this does not work, reinstall Help Viewer from the Mac OS X Update 10.4.8 Combo PPC using Pacifist. Help Viewer is located in the installer package at System/Library/Core Services.
