How do i maintain a network connection between 2 computers

From time to time I can share my network connection between my iMac and my MacBook Air but frequently the connection is lost. How do I reconnect once the connection is lost?
Is the only choice to restart each computer?
Is it necessary that both computers remain active (not go into sleep mode)?
Any help?

If you are really sure that you want to map a network drive using Labview then the easiest way to achieve it is probably to use the System Exec.vi.
Use the NET USE command
e.g.
NET USE K: \\server\sharename password /USER:mydomain\username
Command syntax
"NET USE
[devicename | *] [\\computername\sharename[\volume] [password | *]]
[/USER:[domainname\]username]
[/USER:[dotted domain name\]username]
[/USER:[username@dotted domain name]
[/SMARTCARD]
[/SAVECRED]
[[/DELETE] | [/PERSISTENT:{YES | NO}]]
NET USE {devicename | *} [password | *] /HOME
NET USE [/PERSISTENT:{YES | NO}]"
Using this command you can then map a network drive using a username and password of your choice to map a drive as you require.
Note also that the user profile used to access the share can be an alternate to the local account (I am thinking domain / cross domain usage here) which is also very handy as you can use, for example, an increased security level for your LabVIEW accessing account!
There is a Microsoft knowledgebase article on the subject here:-

• How can I maintain a single connection between Forms 9i and JNI?

I am creating a JNI interface into a legacy application written in Pro C. Currently this legacy system is accessed from Forms 6i through userexits. Under this setup the Pro C application is able to share the connection to the DB established by forms. I want to mimic this functionality over the web using JNI as the link between my web components and the legacy application.
ie. I want to share the DB connection established by my web components with my Pro C application.
Thus far I have been unable to find any documentation on how to do this.
Any ideas would be very helpful.
Information about how Oracle Forms shares its connection with userexits would also be helpful.

The Pro*C application is linked in to Forms, and runs in the same process space, which is how the session is shared.
You can't share the Forms session outside of Forms. So it's not possible to do what you want.

• How to check the Network Connectivity between two systems.

Hello Everyone,
Please let me know different ways to check the network connectivity between two systems other than ping/traceroute commands.

Use snoop.
snoop -d <nic> - will give requests and replies coming/going in/out of the specified NIC.
snoop -d <nic> <MAC address of the target host> - will give requests coming from the required host.

• How does weblogic maintain idle JDBC connection

I see weblogic maintaining connections even when they are idle. (unless we explicity mention to remove)
How does weblogic maintain the socket on DB under idle condition? Does webogic do ping kind of activity to maintain/renew the socket for all idle connections in the pool.

The test-frequency-seconds property specifies the number of seconds between tests of unused connections. WebLogic Server tests unused connection and reopens any faulty connections. You must also set the Test Table Name.
The seconds-to-trust-an-idle-pool-connection property specifies the number of seconds within a connection use that WebLogic Server trusts that the connection is still viable and will skip the connection test during the periodic connection testing process.

• How can I avoid syncing network preferences between iPhone and iMac (mini) ?

In my current setup, my iMac mini and iPhone synchronise the WIFI networks that I joined on my Phone. I would like to turn this feature off. I want my iMac to always connect to the same network. I would like to keep using the other iCloud services though (Mail, Calendar, Etc...)
Can anyone point me to the settings or configuration steps to either fix the wifi network on an iMAc or to switch this feature off in iCloud?
Background:
I run Yosemite 10.10.1 on an iMac mini and IOS 8.0.2 on my iPhone 5S
What I tried:
Manually removed the irrelevant networks from the wifi list under System Preferences... | Network | Advanced...
Did not work, Networks got included in the list again once I join them on my iPhone.

Just download the updates via iTunes on your Mac and then sync your iPhone to update them.
You cannot simply create a Wi-Fi connection between your computer and your iPhone, you must have a Wi-Fi router or access point to connect to.

• How do i fix the network connection??

Every time i try and sync my ipad to my laptop it comes up the i need to authorise it. I try and authorise it and then it comes up 'Itunes could not connect to the iTunes store. Network connection has timed out. How do i fix this???

Close your iTunes,
Go to command Prompt -
(Win 7/Vista) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES, right mouse click "Command Prompt", choose "Run as Administrator".
(Win XP SP2 & above) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES/Command Prompt
In the "Command Prompt" screen, type in
netsh winsock reset
Hit "ENTER" key
Restart your computer.
If you do get a prompt after restart windows to remap LSP, just click NO.
Now launch your iTunes and see if it is working now.
If you are still having these type of problems after trying the winsock reset, refer to this article to identify which software in your system is inserting LSP:

• How to monitor my shared network connection

Hi,
I have a mac mini server which I'm using (among other things) to share my internet network connection (from the ethernet adapter) with other wireless clients through the wireless adapter. This works fine.
My question is: how do I monitor how many clients are attached to the wireless network?
Thanks!

The answer to your question also depends on whether you want to monitor which of your friends etc. is online, or whether you want to monitor for malicious users/attackers.
In the first case the DHCP client list ist quite ok, in the second case it wouldn't help you: An attacker would probably not query your DHCP server, he would just listen to some traffic and could then (a) choose a seemingly free IP from the network, (b) hijack an existing IP and MAC address (or of course (c) decide to use the DHCP server after all).
You can use tools like TCPDUMP, ETHEREAL or KISMAC to scan the traffic on your WLAN, but since an attacker that has cracked the WEP key could change his MAC address to that of one of the other computers, intrusion detection is difficult. With respect to protection the best advice probably is the one about using more secure methods than WEP...

• How to deactivate Kerberos for Network connections?

Hello!
How can I deactivate Kerberos for Network connections?
Greetings

Tim Haigh wrote:
I am not sure why you would want to do that?
The problem is as following:
When I connect to my iMac I type in my username and password and can access the sharepoints.
When I click on Disconnect it seems to disconnect but when I close the Finder window and open it again and click on my iMac icon I am connected although I clicked disconnect!
And I read on a German Mac Forum that this isn't a bug but a feature called Kerberos, so Kerberos is responsible for this.
And when I click disconnect I expect that the system is really disconnecting me and is not holding some kind of secret card in the background.
Thank you

• How do i get a wifi connection between iphone and iMac?

I downloaded the app "CityMaps2Go". Some of the maps I need are bigger than 20MB and Apple doesn't allow to download that amount over a regular 3G telephone connection. "CityMaps2Go" is asking me to connect via Wifi to download bigger maps. But I have no Wifi right now here at home available. My iMac runs with DSL6000 from Deutsche Telekom (High Speed Internet). Even tough my router has WLAN available, it is not konfigured for Apple hardware (I guess, never worked) But the Internet connection for my iMac is very fast, so no problem there. Here my question: While my iMac is online and connected, can I somehow connect my iphone via wifi to my iMac, so I can download those bigger maps from "CityMaps2Go"??? Thank you!

Just download the updates via iTunes on your Mac and then sync your iPhone to update them.
You cannot simply create a Wi-Fi connection between your computer and your iPhone, you must have a Wi-Fi router or access point to connect to.

• How do I add a Private connection between VMs similar to Hyper-V?

We have software that needs a minimum of 3 network connections. One is public interfacing to the world, but the other 2 need to be private only seen by other VMs in the system. The private network needs to be running in a promiscuous mode as the software
listens to all traffic. I do this currently with Hyper-V on Windows Server by configuring one connection as External and the other 2 as private. Is there a way to do this in Azure?

Hi RBSchneider,
There is no Private Networks in Azure. There is just Virtual Network and subnets.
Azure is quite different from Hyper-V when speaking about Virtual Network.
Why?
Because in Hyper-V, you can create as many Virtual Networks (VSwitches) as you like. And then you can add virtual network adapters to your VMs and then connect them to a virtual network. You then configure your IP address inside the VM, you can put anything
you want.
In Azure, when you create a virtual network, you must tell Azure which address space to use. You can create many subnets inside a virtual network and put an addressing range for each subnet.
When you create the VM, you choose which subnet to connect to each network adapter. Then Azure will provide your OS with an IP address form that subnet. You can't choose your IP address freely inside the VM.
In addition, you can't add a network adapter to a VM. Few VMs in Azure support multi network adapters
Maximum NICs
VM Size
2
A3, A6, A8, D3, D12, G3
4
A4, A7, A9, D4, D13, G4
1
All other VMs
In your case, you will need to provision one of the VM sizes with 4 NICs. This maybe not be convenient for you.

• How can I view the Network Connection Log on MacBook?

Hello everyone!
I want to view the Network Connection Log on my MacBook. I know the Console.app is the app to view the system log but I do not have any idea where is exactly showing when I connect to the network by using the Wi-Fi networking or the Ethernet.
Anyone get some idea?

You probably won't be able to make sense of it but .. . .
In terminal use command.
