How do I play podcasts at 2x speed

I recently played a podcast on my iPod nano and it was mysteriously at 2x speed. But the next time I played it it was at normal speed.
I would LOVE to listen at 2x speed, at least to one particular podcast (Taverncast, anyone? Could you speed it up, please?).
But I can't figure out whether there's a way to do it on purpose. Is there a way to play a podcast at 2x speed?
Thanks!
-Sara

Items in a playlist will play continuously, so make a playlist named Rush and put all the podcast episodes in there. Arrange them in chronological order (instead of backward like the Podcast library does). Then play this list. All episodes will play, one after the other. This is how I always listen to podcasts because I like a variety of shows and alternating news, humor, music, etc.

How can I play podcasts on my iphone without using data?

I used to sync my podcasts to my phone individually, but found out that the Podcast app works better for me.  It continously downloads the podcasts (not really sure when, that's the only thing, when its downloading it may use data depending on where you are) and also deletes the ones i have listened to.  Hopefully that will help you out!

  • IPod shuffle 4th Gen. How to start playing podcast from the very beginning once again?

Hello to everybody in this forum,
I bought a new iPod shuffle 4th Gen music player for about two weeks ago. I love this device, it works great as well as it's sound quality amazes me after Windows Mobile 6.0 Phone, Transcend MP3 and even Samsung Galaxy Ace devices use experience. It's much better and it made me got used to podcasts feature I never tried before, But if I want to replay the very same podcast item from the very beginning - I simply don't know how to rewind it back. If I press next/prev buttons it doesn't help. The podcast itself starts to play at about 5 minutes before a podcast's end as if I were listened to the whole podcast continuously from the beginning of a podcast. A podcast appears to be divided into chapters and I don't understand how to switch chaprers. Even if I did, the amount of chapters is big and it's inconvenient to swith every chapter with prev button pressed. Shuffle's manual tells me nothing on how to get things work I want it to. Any help is appreciated.

  • How can I play podcasts so that they begin with oldest first and move up to more recent?

When I dowload podcasts on my ipod classic I can't listen to them right away and they accumulate. When I play them, they always play downwards, from more recent to older.
I want them to play from oldest to most recent  in order. How can I make this happen?

  • How to un-play podcast episode

I clicked something as I was mousing around with iTunes.  One of my podcast episodes started to play.  I never intentionally listen to media on my PC, so I stopped the play somehow (I forgot what I did to stop it).  However, the podcast episode is now designated as "playing". I would like to un-designate the episode as "playing".  How can this be done in iTunes?

I simply want the podcast to not have the speaker symbol beside it (see iTunes help on "symbols"), which means that it is playing (albeit paused).  I also want the scrubber bar for the episode to go away from the top of the iTunes window.
Having started the episode playing it will register as part-played (half dot) as opposed to unplayed (full dot) unless you right/option click it and Mark as Unplayed.
To make the speaker icon and scrubber bar go away, having stopped playback, simply select an alternative source or playlist, then go back to the Podcast source.

Thanks tt2.  There is no "Mark as Unplayed".  I suspect that it is because the episode did not play to completion.  However, selecting another playlist did make the speaker icon go away.  Strangely, a full blue dot is shown rather than a half dot.

  • How do i play podcast in order

can anyone help me out.. im new to the whole podcasting thing but im loving it ok its just one problem ... being a noob to this try not to laugh ok but i cant seem to listen to my podcast in order from old to new i have a 5 gen ipod (black). is there anyway to have it play from oldest to newest also is there anyway to have them play back to back like your playlist thank you for the help... oh yea in itunes they are listed from old to new but i cant seem to list them in that order inside of the ipod... even if i cant let me know so i cant sleep at night lol

You are not the only one who experiences this. My iPod as well will display the newest content at the top and put the older content at the bottom. I have tried several methods so I just gave up. So try not to lose any more sleep over it. It's just one of those things;)

  • How do I play podcasts sequentialy and continously?  (Bug/Feature?!)

My new 5th generation Nano plays one podcast, then stops.
I have to actively click on the menu to start a new one.
It is really annoying and dangerous on top of it.
If I am listening to a podcast from one source, lets say the economist, and driving in my car I have to click on this ** thing every 5-15 minutes..... this is totally insane!
I got the iPod because of the Apple's great reputation for usability but I guess I will have to look for alternatives since this issue seems to be around since ages: http://www.danandchoka.net/?p=50
Please tell me that people have come up with a "workable" fix which does not involved editing and creating some play lists all the time.

Not much good news here i'm afraid.
Why do all my iPods behave differently?

  • How do I play podcasts sequentialy?

My last Nano (3rd gen, 8 gig) played multiple podcasts from the same source (Example: NPR talk of the nation)one after the other. My new 5th generation Nano plays one podcast, then stops. I've tried making a playlist for my daily podcasts, but it won't sync up w/ my nano. Could this be a firmware issue? Any suggestions?

I see that this thread has been classified as "answered" but the only option that was suggested (making a playlist for each podcast) is, to me at least, highly unsatisfactory.
If I have 7 podcasts to listen to by one content source, isn't it logical to expect that one could click the first one and expect them to move to the next "track" sequentially once it is finished? To give one example, I had 10 unplayed podcasts in one folder, each around 1 minute in length. The current firmware (version 1.0.2 for Nano 5G) forced me to click three or four times at the conclusion of each podcast to hear the next one. This seems counter-intuitive.
I would be very pleased to see this restored in a future firmware update.

  • How do I play one podcast after another?

    Hello,
I have iTunes 7.0.2 and I can't figure out how to play podcasts one after another ... like, when one podcast is done, to go on to play the next one. Any ideas?

I think you can create a podcast playlist then drag episodes to it, and arrange them in the order you want to listen.
    Hope that helps.

  • How to play podcasts in order, and how to pick up where I left off?

I have several music podcasts I listen to. I made Smart playlists for each, so the podcasts show up in Playlists. Two questions: How do I play them in order? And, after I pause after listening to one, how do I continue listening when I wish? With the previous generation (the one with video capabilities), I could highlight the Smart playlist in Playlists and click the "play" button...all podcasts would play in order. If I switched away from the podcast and listened to the radio or even a different podcast, my Nano would remember where I left off. I love the new Nano and its tiny size, but the podcast thing is driving me batty. Thank you for your help.

Okay, I'm a dork. I accidentally swiped my volume screen this morning, and discovered the answers to all of my questions.

  • How Do I Keep Podcast Episodes in iTunes 11.1.x With the "Auto-remove played episodes" Option Set?

In the previous version of iTunes, I set the podcasts to auto-delete played episodes. If I wanted to keep a specific episode of a podcast, I could right-click that episode and choose to “keep this episode/do not remove this episode”.
Is there a way to do this in iTunes 11.1.x? The option under the right-click menu seems to have disappeared. Is there some kind of new logic to this? Or is the option to keep certain episodes and automatically remove everything else gone?
Basically, I want the behaviour described under Hold on to your hits.

What really cheeses me off here is that Apple isn't allowing users enough customization.  With each update of iTunes (and the OS and iOS) we're forced to give up something that worked well for the way we want to use the app and make do with fewer (and lamer) options.  If Apple keeps this up, they're going to start losing customers fast.  I mean if this isn't fixed soon, I'm pretty sure I'm going to give up on iTunes, and then I'll probably go ahead and get a Galaxy when I need to replace my iPhone.
What I don't understand about how they won't let users delete the list of available podcasts now is why?  How is this making it a better program?  I can understand that not all users are capable enough to right-click on a feed and select "Show all available episodes", so I can see why they want the complete list to be the default (and, surprise, it already was).  But to not give users the option to delete that list?  It's inconsiderate because it makes navigating feeds with a large back catalogue really frustrating.  I'm flabbergasted that no one at Apple considered all the podcast feeds that keep hundreds of episodes available when they removed this feature.  It smacks of rank incompetence.
What improvement were they trying to make here anyway?  There was nothing wrong to my mind about how podcasts were managed in previous versions.  Whatever improvement they were trying to make here, they should have realized that many users would at least want the option to keep things the way they were.
And reverting to a previous version is no solution.  I can't sync my iPhone with the new iOS without this update, and (while I do have some issues--specifically how you can't play podcasts in the Music app anymore) I do like the new iOS.

  • How to play 100fps at normal speed?

    Hi folks
I have material which the DOP says is shot at 100 fps. (Shot on Sony fs700). I want to play that at normal speed in my 1080 25p FCPX Project. By normal speed I mean real time.
What bugs me is that in the clip info in FCPX the material shows as 1080 25p material. I've tried speeding up the material to 400 %, but it doesn't look right. Too fast. Is there any other way other than to mess around with speed %?
    Hope you can help.
    All the best
    Lasse

Karsten, you seem to have struck a chord. It seems there's a difference between what the DOP says and what the iMediaHUD says (clever tool, cheers for that). See report below.

    And one thing irritates me:
If I read the cams manual correctly, it records in AVCHD - so, how did you convert it to mov?
When I import it, FCPX doesn't let me 'leave files in place" - I'm able to tick the box, but FCPX stil copy it. And when I click to reveal the material in finder the "original material" is now .mov.
For the report I dragged the real original material. I took an .mts file from the AVCHD bundle and this is what the report wrote:

  • Podcasts playing back at improper speed after recent iTunes upgrade

    iPod Touch G2
After upgrading iTunes this week (SHARED > Home Sharing is now in the left pane), podcasts now play back improperly. Different podcasts now play back at higher speeds.
Music (songs) plays back at normal speed.
What to do? Do I have do a Restore?
    Thanks.

it's easily done. that's why i always make sure to hit the power button and put it into sleep mode before putting mine in my pocket! (if you double click the home button while it's in sleep mode you can bring up music controls for quick track skips/pauses without having to slide to unlock)
