I cannot get my mac to attach files to email that may be read by windows users. It is really annoying. Any suggestions?

What is an ordinary document? What program generated it? Windows has trouble opening documents if you don't have the extension visible as well.

Firefox doesn't do email, it's a web browser.
If you are using Firefox to access your mail, you are using "web-mail". You need to seek support from your service provider or a forum for that service.

I suspect that your Windows pals are using an e-mail program from the Stone Age.
In the last 10 years or so most people prefer to read attachments “in-line”. This allows text and images to be intermixed allowing an easier method of explaining things.
When I am dealing with a old-fashioned, obsolete Windows user that is using an older e-mail program I simply put all the attachments at the very end of the e-mail. This will make it appear more normal to them.
Not all Windows programs work in this primitive fashion. But as Mac users, we have become more accustomed to the modern methods of viewing attachments in-line.

How or where can I find the Outlook mail that is located in the folder on my desktop? I can open it but when I double click, it just makes up an email to be sent with the attachment.

Apple moved my Outlook from my PC over to the MAC and it is now on my desktop but I cannot open it. I click on the folder and when opened it has two folders, one for each of my email accounts and when I click on the one I want, it just makes a new email to be sent. I even dragged it to the download folder and that did not good.
It will also ask me to use another program to open it. I click on Mail and again it makes another email. HELP!!! I have tons of emails that I need to keep tract of my work. Any help would be wonderful.

this is not a standard behaviour and I am not sure if I would even recommend you to go this way. Why?
a) content items in workflows are usually still to be reviewed - if you send it as an attachment to an email, the user may forward it and you will by-pass all the security that UCM provides
b) you will mess up version controls (which attachment is the correct one, if someone checks in a new version?)
c) you will pass the content through the email server - this is something customers usually want to get rid of
d) why can't you use just the standard workflow review functionality? - that is, instead of the file you send a link to the file, which usually displays its web-viewable rendition (but you can change it to the link to native files, if you want to) This is also a one-click solution (well, users may have to authenticate for UCM, if you have no single sign-on), and it is completely under control.
However, if you stick to email attachments, you will have to go with a custom component. There is a sample AcmeEmail, which can serve as a basis for email functions, so you will need to combine it with workflows. But like I wrote - better try to persuade your customer to go with the standard.

Trying to attach Excel file to my email...but it is too big...how do I fix?

I am trying to attach two excel files to an email, and each time it goes as follows:
1. push the attach file button
2. chose my files
3. push the attach files button
4. the blue "progress" stripe begins to fill the address bar
5. Then it stops about an eighth of the way toward the end, and doesnt go any further...
I tried letting it go for a while, and giving it time, but it doesnt work. The file size is 34.4 (which I know is huge), but there is only about 20 lines of the Excel being used, but the program is trying to attach 64,599 lines of unused space, and that is why it isnt attaching im sure, but i dont know how to fix it, or if it is even possible.
Please help!

what email provider do you use?
i'd be surprised anyway if it will allow an attachment of that size. the limit is usuall between 1 and 5 MB, some going to 10 or 15 like gmail.
34MB? not unless you have an expensive or corporate email provider.
you can:
1: do like daddypaycheck said and reduce the file size by deleting unnecessary rows or collumns,
2: download OpenOffice.org, or NeoOffice, see if you like that and save it in the native format, usuall smaller file (beware compatibility)
3: use dropstuff or the like to break the file apart into multiple smaller compressed chunks, and send them in multiple emails (the size of the chunks each should match the attachment size limit for your email provider, see their website)
4:this is my favorite - put the file in your Sites folder, in your user's Home folder. open system prefs-> sharing. check the box to enable personal web sharing. go to www.whatismyip.org and copy the string of numbers that appear (that's your external ip). now you can host the file from your computer, and only email people a link to it! the link should be like this:
http://yourip/~your_short_username/name_of_exceldocument.xls
for example, here is my resume in .pdf, hosted from my computer (let me know if it works for you!)

Bam! I'd go with number 4, and test the url in your browser to make sure it works. once you get the page, you can "save as" and download the file. that way people can receive an email with only text, including the url (link) to the hosted file on your computer. then they can "save as" and download the file.
another, more sophisticated way to do this is to write a small .html page that has a link to that file (in your sites folder). name the .html file "index.html" and replace the file by that name which is by default placed in your Sites folder. that will then be your home page at:

I have discovered that the emails have in fact been sent but much later, maybe it's a network problem with the people i am sending it to. so i checked my sent items and they are there, but at the time the email doesn't go straight into the sent box or drafts so i'm assuming it's disappeared and type it again. i'll keep going with it, until someone can give me a possible solution or explanation as to what is happening.

I've changed the bill payer to myself but it stills says on emails that I sent that its from my mother.

In order for the "From" field to show you options on the "from" addresses available, you must set them up in the Preferences > Accounts first.
I can't show you a screen shot of the from field because I currently only have one account, so the from address used is the default. However, when I had more than one, then options will show up in your compose/reply window.

Make sure that your Apple ID is your email address and you do not have any other or old IDs associated with you. Go to www.appleid.apple.com and confirm this info. Make sure that the email address you are trying to sign up with is your primary one.

If the PDF is a form fillable PDF, which I assume that it is, email it to yourself or send it to DropBox and open it on your computer. You should see the fields filled in there. It works for me if I do it that way.
Adobe Reader supports it, but the other apps don't. I assume that if you email the PDF to a computer user it would be readable in Adode Reader.

However, he still receives my text messages that go to my email address on HIS ipad! I don't have his apple id password so I cannot delete my email from his iTunes account, nor will he give it to me. I just don't want him to see my text messages! How do I delete it from his ipad?

Each of you need to have your own apple id's instead of sharing is the best way. But you can go to each phones settings, messages, send and recieve, and down to start new conversation from, and make sure each of you have your own email address with a check mark beside of it not the same address.
