How do I show remote printers in Windows 2012 RDWEB?

Hi everyone,
I have setup an Windows 2012 RDS host and am able to access it externally by using https://remote.domain.com/rdweb.
Therefore I can log in and launch remote apps.
Local printers get redirected, but I do not seem to be able to see the remote printers on the RDS server.
The printer is installed and it is installed on the server.
What if I want to print on the server printer rather than my own printer?
How to get to show the printers in the RDWEB page?
I do not get control panel, select device and printers here.
Can someone enlighten me on this?
Thanks very much.

Hi,
Any takers for this question?
When I use internet explorer to access the Windows 2012 r2 RDS server by typing https://remote.domain.com/rdweb, I get to logon and can see all my published apps and launch them.
But when I print from a remote app I can only see my own redirected printers I cannot see the network printer which is installed on the server.
I tried to change group policy under Computer Configuration/Administrative Templates/Windows Components/Remote Desktop Services/Remote Desktop Session Host/Printer Redirection and set:
Do not set default client printer to be default printer in a session ENABLED
Use Remote Desktop Easy Printer Driver first ENABLED
Redirect only the default client printer ENABLED
Then I run a gpupdate /force on the RDS host to apply the policy to the server.
When I connect remotely from a Windows 7 client using IE and lets say I launch the wordpad remote app I can only see my client printers not the server printers.
This seems to work if I RDP into the server with mstsc.exe but not using RDWEB.
Does anyone know about this?
Thanks and regards

wda How dynamic the show and hide the window.
    thank you

    Hi Sarah,
For any webdynpro queries , post it under Application server->Webdybnpro-ABAP OR JAVA forum.
You can hide the entire group by binding a attribute to the visible property of the group.
    if lv_i_text is initial.
    * to set GROUP hidden
          lo_el_context->set_attribute(
name =  `VIS_GRP`    " Attribute name in the context binded to visible property of the group.

I hope it solves your problem.

i have create Ad on windows 2012 server and i have enter netbios name with end 0. now problem is when try to access any user it show netbios name there. is it possible that i can change netbios name or why it show netbios name.
    sunit kumar

    Hi,
We can use the active directory rename tools to rename domain NetBIOS name. But it is a complex and risky process.
For more information about how to use random.exe to rename domain name, please refer to the following article:
    Rendom

Besides, renaming of the NetBIOS domain name is not supported in any version of Exchange Server.

  • Setting Up Remote Desktop Services Windows 2012 DMZ

    Hi
I'm new to the Windows 2012 RDS. I am trying to figure out some things.
I have an application that I would like to publish to the outside world to our customers.
Im thinking of using Windows 2012 remote desktop services and publish the app via web browser. So users go to the URL and see the application.
Do I need a client brooker and gateway server for this setup? or can i simply deploy a web access server on the dmz which then connects to my remote session host server inside?

    Hi,
To allow outside access into your RDS environment you would need to use the RD Gateway role. This can be configured on the same box as your RD Web Access role if resources are limited.
The RD Gateway role uses ether TCP 443 or UDP 3391 depending on what you have chosen to configure. You need to create a port forwarding rule from and to the gateway box using 443.
Have a look at the following articles:
    http://ryanmangansitblog.com/2013/03/27/deploying-remote-desktop-gateway-rds-2012/
    http://ryanmangansitblog.com/2013/03/10/configuring-rds-2012-certificates-and-sso/
This should assit with the configuration.

  • How to not show the safe mode windows (pop up) ,starting using safe mode

    Firefox safe mode
Safe Mode is a special mode of Firefox that can be used to troubleshoot issues.
Your add-ons and custom settings will be temporarily disabled. You can also Reset Firefox if you want to start fresh.
Start in Safe Mode Reset Firefox
This window I want to cancel whenever I want to use the command line
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe" -safe-mode How to do it? Thanks

There is an extensions.enabledAddons pref that you can find on the <b>about:config</b> page.
A possibility would be to have two versions of a user.js file to initialize this pref with the installed and enabled extensions and copy the one you need by starting Firefox via a cmd file.
If you are that tight on memory then you would only have to run one version at the time.
There are plugin.state prefs to disable plugins in case you want to do that as well, but plugins are only used when you visit pages that use them and setting all plugins to "Ask to Activate" should be sufficient.

  • How to connect to remote resver running Windows Personal Webmanager

    Dear all,
Currently, an applet of mine accesses an Access-database on a remote server (at the codebase address, of course) which runs IDSServer. The connection is set up like this (the apllet uses IDSDriver):
    String url = "jdbc:ids://123.45.67.890:12/conn?dsn=MYSDN"
    Connection c = new java2.sql.IDSDriver().connect(url, null);
This works okay, but I'll probably need to make do with a server running Windows Personal Webmanager in the very near future. Does anybody know what the correct url should be in that case? That is, what should be in between "jdbc:" and "MYSDN"?
Thanks for all help, and remember: the database is on a remote machine out on the web.
    RS

Sure, if you know, you know. But it is not the url per se that is the problem, that's why I put in 123etc, it is the subprotocol and portsettings that matter. Plus, perhaps, an answer to whether the personal web server handles odbc connections at all. Now that would be helpful.

  • Multiple printers In Window 2012 R2 RDS

    Hi All,
    I have a windows server 2012 R2 RDS server.
For some reason when users log in to the RDS server they see 100 printers in the Devices and printers.
I had a look and all these printers belongs to all the users that connected on the network on other RDS servers.
Do you know how I can remove them ?

    Hi Shimon,
Thank you for posting in Windows Server Forum.
In respect to your issue there is one KB but it’s for server 2008 R2. Are you using Remote Desktop Easy Print for your environment?
This issue occurs because the Print Spooler adds a registry entry for each redirected printer under the following registry subkey for the user, and for all users logged on to the RD Session Host server:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Devices
This behavior occurs if you do not use the Remote Desktop Easy Print feature.
    More information for reference.
    KB 2620656
In addition, you can configure GPO policy where we can set the default printer per user session. For more information refer
    this article.
    Hope it helps!
    Thanks.

  • HP Proliant ML360 Server: How hard would it be to install Windows 2012 R2 on an older server like this one?

    Hello,
I am an it tech in need of some help. I don't mess with our servers that often, and I could use some guidance in setting up this particular machine. We would like to use this server with 2012 R2 for Michigan M-step caching machine, and possibly setting up
a ticket system for maintenance, and technology repairs. This server was configured before I got here, and I would like to delete the current novell software and Server 2003, and start over fresh. Is there a manual that you could recommend, or a step by step
instruction guide that will show me the correct steps to take. I have watched youtube videos, read different articles, however they really didn't give me the information that I am looking for to set up this server. Any help you can give me would be greatly
    appreciated!!
    Thank you,
    Angie

The very first thing you need to determine is if the ML360 is a 32-bit or 64-bit server.  If it is 32-bit, it's a no-go.  Windows Server 2012 is 64-bit only.
The next issue is installation media.  Does the ML360 have a DVD or CD reader?  2012 R2 comes on DVD.  It's possible to install from USB, but that's if the system supports it.  Does the ML360 support booting from USB?
Yes, the smart start capability is neat, but it is generally geared to a specific release of an operating system for a server that supports that operating system.  The ML 360 is old enough that smart start may not work on it.
I would go out to HP.com and download all the latest drivers for the ML360 and put those on a CD.  I would also get the latest BIOS/Firmware.  Make sure the system is updated to the latest BIOS/Firmware.
Before trying to give any further suggestions, it would help to know exactly what you have.

  • AD services not appearing in Windows 2012 menu

    Hi there
I'm building a virtual 2012 environment with separate machines for AD and WSUS.
I've then built another machine called Management.  Using the Windows 2012 menu, I've added the 2 machines above as machines to manage however there is a problem.
It does appear to add them as on my left hand side of the Windows 2012 panel, it shows WSUS and AD DS.  However the problem is that when I click on the Tools machine to access AD, it doesn't exist.  My understanding is that once I add that machine
as a machine to manage, I should get all the management options?
I've pretty sure it's worked in the past...
    Any ideas?
    Note:  My firewall is on
    Many thanks

    Hi all
I got this query answered on the Windows 2012 general page, located here:
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/windowsserver/en-US/744f70f8-694b-4c6b-b0fc-6ce92e0f48a6/having-trouble-remotely-managing-other-windows-2012-servers?forum=winserver8gen
It seems I needed to add the Remote Management from the Features tab of the dashboard.  I, mistakenly, was under the impression that by adding the servers to manage, it would automatically add the required Administration tool, depending on the server
    role.
Thanks all for your replies and help.

  • Windows 7 - View Remote Printers

We have a Windows 2003 domain and a mix of Windows XP and Windows 7 PCs.  I am using a Windows 7 PC.  I can view a remote machines simply by typing
\\computername just fine.  With XP machines I can view they're locally installed printers and make changes to them.  On Windows 7 clients, I cannot.  I get "you do not have sufficient rights to perform
this operation".  I cannot view the printers on any machine nor can I add a printer to any machines.  Once again...everything works fine on Windows XP clients.  How can I correct this?

Sorry...these do not help.  This has nothing to do with the printers themselves.  I am not 'sharing' the printers.  All of our computers onsite have 'locally' installed printers that are on our network connected via TCP/IP directly.
As the systems administrator I need to be able to access these on each individual PC to update drivers/change drivers/add printer.  I can do this just fine with Windows XP machines by default.  Something with the Windows 7 OS is blocking my ability
though.  I need to find out what this is.  I have already enabled file/print sharing, but this did not help.
For example on a Windows XP machine from my Windows 7 machine I can simply type
\\computername\ and then click on 'view remote printers' and the printer list shows for that PC.  At this point I can 'add a printer' or change drivers without the user even being aware of what I'm doing since I'm not
using remote desktop.  This is not the case with the Windows 7.  I can browse to the
\\computername without error.  But when I click on 'view remote printers' it shows 0 items.  When I click on 'add a printer' it says 'you do not have sufficient rights to perform this operation'.  This is as
    clear as I can be.
I need to know why this isn't allowed by default like it is in Windows XP and what I can do to change it.  I do not have any group policies turned on that control securities except for one that TURNS OFF UAC.  These are the relevant policies
    and their settings:
User Account Control: Behavior of the elevation prompt for administrators in Admin Approval Mode [Elevate without prompting]
User Account Control: Detect application installations and prompt for elevation [Disabled]
User Account Control: Only elevate UIAccess applications that are installed in secure locations [Disabled]
User Account Control: Run all administrators in Admin Approval Mode [Disabled]
Could any of these be interfering with the printer control?  The reason for these settings is to allow our drive mappings to work on our Windows 2003 domain with Windows 7 clients.

  • How to install the Remote Desktop Services role on a Windows 2012 R2 Server

    Hello,
I am a bit confused on how to install the RDP role on a 2012 R2 server. I have a two server domain and would like to make the second member server an RDP server to host applications (Word, Excel, a medical software, etc.) where users from their windows
7 desktop will use the Remote Desktop Connection to connect to the server, create a session and do their work. When installing the role, I am prompted with two options:
1- Role-based or feature based installation
    2- Remote Desktop services installation
I see the RDP install option in both cases.
1- Which one do I use?
2- What role services do I install? (Connection broker, Gateway, Licensing, Session Host, Virtualization host and Web access). I think I need the first four only.
3- When installing software after RDP, I use the Change user /install and Change user /execute commands. What happens to the software that is already installed? Can remote
    users use those?
Any help will be very much appreciated.
    Thank You,
    Victor.

    TP,
Thank you for your response. I added the RD Licensing thru the Role-based option.
Also opened the local group policy thru gpedit.msc and added the server name and the licensing mode type to Computer Configuration -> Administrative Templates -> Windows Components -> Remote Desktop Services -> Remote Desktop Session
    Host -> Licensing
Use the specified RD license servers = NameOfMyServer
Set the Remote Desktop licensing mode = TypeOfMyLicense (Per User in my case)
    Thank you again,
    Victor
