a program is asking that i place fonts and graphics within scan lines 410-486...how do i do this?
i have 1920 x 1080 footage...

Could it be that you have a spec sheet from a broadcaster that is referring to caption placement on a standard def NTSC signal with 486 lines of vertical resolution? If so, your titles will be outside of the established safe area parameters. You really need to talk to these people and clarify the situation.

The first link goes to a great tutorial on using NSTask. Capturing stdout and stderr are only covered briefly towards the end, however. Note the last comment explaining why "system()" is a bad idea.
The second link goes to a forum thread. Scroll down to the code posted by "blb" for some very clear examples of launching with NSTask and reading the output with NSPipe.
If you really want to use a shell command, you could give NSTask a command like ' +bash -c "ls -lt | grep drwx"+ ' (see how setArguments: is used in the tutorial).
If you just want to do something cheap and dirty with "system()" so you can see some awk output while you're learning how to do things the right way, I guess you could do something like this:

How can we specify the Mailbox for Notes?

In Mail.app, how can we specify the Mailbox for Notes (where the new notes will be resided)? It is now 'On My Mac'. I wish to change to my IMAP Mailbox so it sync with my iPhone by just checking email (not by syncing on iTunes).

You could use the DecimalFormat or NumberFormat to do the job.

Creating a form that can be sent to an email address is simple enoug but my problem I can't figure out. There is a drop down menu on the form and based on what the user selects the form will be sent to 1 of 3 groups of email addresses. How can I specify which group of email addresses belong to a particular dropdown menu selection?

You can populate the drop down with a dataprovider that has the dropdown field and the emailgroup field.

Expand appearance is what will happen when exporting to PDF or other formats anyway, but it's rather part of the problem than part of the solution.
When expanding bristle brushes you get millions of paths. and when flattening their transparency you get millions more. Any service provider will get rather upset at you for sending this kind of stuff.
What you instead want to do is rasterize them at the correct resolution (depending on wether the graphics will be resized before printing or the printing process). BTW: that's what Illustrator tells you in an error warning when saving a file with more than 30 strokes in it.

we are working in oracle applications 11i
From Oracle Inventory Responsibility->Transactions->Receiving: Enter Purchase Order Number: Receipts Window:
we have a line with item quantity of 100 (for example). I need to receive that item on many lines (depending on our descriptive flexfield inputs).
how do you suggest I enter those receiving lines for the PO LINE? I can see that I cannot I enter lines in that window so I am not sure If I can use dataload.
I need a solution that can be applied to receiving transactions window too.
Any ideas please?

If you enter a partial Qty and save it, then it will be a seperate line on the receipt.
Ex: Rcpt 120 first time rcv 10, next enter the same info and then use Add to receipt button and enter rcpt number i.e. 120 and enter the next Qty say 30.
Now if you query view Receving Txns form for rcpt 120 you will see 10,30 on separate lines. If you want suggestions on how much to enter on each line is going to be challenging (may be using the note to reciver can help)

How do I specify supported languages for an Android app?

I have uploaded my APK created with AIR to the Android Developers console and it looks like the list of supported languages is the default one (15 languages), see image:

My app actually only supports 9 languages, how can I specify only the 9 languages that my app supports?ffi
Are there any specific tags I need to add in the Android manifest additions in the application descriptor?

Starting with AIR 3.8 Adobe added the supportedLanguages tag for the app xml descriptor that would filter the default all languages:

This definitely works on iOS by filtering the localizations that get bundled into the .ipa so Apple doesn't automatically list all languages Adobe localizes in the captive runtime. I would expect this to have a similar effect on Android if you don't already have this explicitly added in your application descriptor.

How do I specify quicktime plugin for use by mp3 files on ppc mac

In the Applications section of Firefox Preferences I find no way to specify that the Quicktime PLUG-IN is to be used for mp3 files. Although this action option is a provided for other kinds of files, that action option is missing for MP3 Audio file (audio/mp3) and for MP3 Audio File (audio/x-mp3).
I can specify that the Quicktime PLAYER should be used, but not the plug-in. How can I specify that I want the plug-in to be used?

You need to set in the QuickTime Preferences what files types you want that plugin to handle.

I have created a JIT scheduling agreement using order type LZJ and i have both forecast and JIT delivery schedules. Now when i am going into VL10E i am not able to see any schedule lines for that scheduling agreement, so if you guys have any ideas please reply..
I have MRP for DS type is D - Requirements by validity and deliveries by JIT.

Sold-to Customer
Ship-to Customer
Purchase Order Number (doesn't have to be entered in the system)
P.O. Date
Valid From Date
Valid To Date
Enough Material in stock to fill the Delivery
Open Quantity in the JIT tab.

Note that every lines end with the shift+enter.

Whenever the user inputs Shift-Enter, Photoshop inserts an [EOT] (End Of Text) control character (\x03 or \u0003) in the string.
Also, in order to split the text according to multiple separators in only one call, it is necessary to use a regular expression instead of a string.
Try replacing:

BTW, you can improve performance by explicitely requesting the textKey property of the current layer object.
Try using:

I am keeping a TEXT element to get a static text (as 'Visitor Info Form'), so i inserted TEXT from palattes, its size is Aerial 10, but i want to have its size as 24, I tried by right clicking on TEXT, then selected FONT, then choosen the 24 from drop-down list, its not working/reflecting!! but, when i change the PARAGRAPH settings, they are reflecting!
Pls. let me know how to change size from 10 to 24?

Don't specify the styleclass for the inner panelHeader.
