Hold ON! Getting a call on the red phone.
    "Yes...yes.... ok!"
It's confirmed, H.e.l.l. has finally frozen over!  TM drives are now bootable!
Still it's not a real bootable clone, can't run the computer off the external drive for long in only Recovery mode, still requires the boot drive to be replaced if it not functional, and with TM backing up every hour, isn't going to offer much software protection as the TM drive is just as likely to be as messed up as the internal boot drive.
For a iMac it still requires the computer to be taken in to Apple for a drive replacement, as ONLY Apple can do it due to proprietary connections and firmware on the iMac hard drives.
    But it is bootable!
The backup time factor can be controlled using TimeMachine Editor, from every hour to just when the user thinks it's necessary.
    Apple lurches slightly forward!  Hurray!
Question is, can one restore from earlier stable TM's or just the last one? In this bootable fashion?

  • Starting JWS on a remote linux Machine

how can i start an application through JWS, running as a daemon in the background, without using X11 as my application doesnt need one

    You can't.
Java Web Start turns any application into a swing application, and so, requires X11 initialization on unix.

"Open a new, blank Private Window
At the top of the Firefox window, click the Firefox button and select New Private Window. A new Private Window will open.
That is what it says! But where is this Firefox button at the top of my Firefox (v 20.0.1) window? What I have at the top of the window is:
    (1) A blue-background bar with the Firefox icon and the title of the current page
    (2) 2 grey-background bars with menus (e.g. File, Edit, ...) and buttons
    (3) 1 grey-background bar with the Bookmark Toolbar
    (4) The Tab bar
But no Firefox button, and none available in the customise dialog. Have I suppressed it somehow?

hello, the private browsing window is accessible through the file menu that you've referenced too - or you can use the keyboard shortcut ctrl+shift+p.
if you want to get the default userinterface with the firefox button though, go to view > toolbars & disable the menu bar...

This should work on Windows without having to know where the browser is located. See http://www.javaworld.com/javaworld/javatips/jw-javatip66.html for more details

  • Using Browser Listener on the server instead of the client

    Hello everyone,
Anyone can help me ? I would like to know how can I use the Browser Listener on the server instead of using on the client ?
    I have Oracle Warehouse Builder 10g Release 2 (10.2.0.2). SO: Windows2003 (32-bits).
    Thanks in advance,
    Paulo Almeida

    Hi Paulo,
very easy. You start the OC4J on the server (unix or windows; for unix there is no icon but a shell script, look it up in the installation manual). If you start it as a background process or as a Windows service you don't need an open user session. In the browser you edit the browser listener URL replacing 127.0.0.1 with the name or the IP address of the server (http://<hostname>:8999/owbb/RABLogin.uix). Unfortunately, you cannot achieve this directly from the OWB console (a configuration parameter to set an alternative hostname would be a nice enhancement) but you can bookmark this in your browser.
Warning: In some (or in all) 64bit releases the OC4J is missing; Oracle Support could not justify this.
    Regards

You can access the repositry browser from your client.
Under Adminstration in OWB in Start-Program. click on Start OWB Browser Listener.
