How do i turn off sounds within itunes, such as the download complete sound and other sounds added with 11.11.1

some of the sounds added with the latest addition of itunes are really annoying and suprising, especially when listening to music. how do i turn them off?

What really cheeses me off here is that Apple isn't allowing users enough customization.  With each update of iTunes (and the OS and iOS) we're forced to give up something that worked well for the way we want to use the app and make do with fewer (and lamer) options.  If Apple keeps this up, they're going to start losing customers fast.  I mean if this isn't fixed soon, I'm pretty sure I'm going to give up on iTunes, and then I'll probably go ahead and get a Galaxy when I need to replace my iPhone.
What I don't understand about how they won't let users delete the list of available podcasts now is why?  How is this making it a better program?  I can understand that not all users are capable enough to right-click on a feed and select "Show all available episodes", so I can see why they want the complete list to be the default (and, surprise, it already was).  But to not give users the option to delete that list?  It's inconsiderate because it makes navigating feeds with a large back catalogue really frustrating.  I'm flabbergasted that no one at Apple considered all the podcast feeds that keep hundreds of episodes available when they removed this feature.  It smacks of rank incompetence.
What improvement were they trying to make here anyway?  There was nothing wrong to my mind about how podcasts were managed in previous versions.  Whatever improvement they were trying to make here, they should have realized that many users would at least want the option to keep things the way they were.
And reverting to a previous version is no solution.  I can't sync my iPhone with the new iOS without this update, and (while I do have some issues--specifically how you can't play podcasts in the Music app anymore) I do like the new iOS.

  • How do I turn off Sync without iTunes deleting all the songs on my iPod!

Well that's basically my question. I want to keep all the songs that are already there, but from this point on just add new ones manually. When I unchecked the Sync box it wiped out my iPod. Thanks in advance for any help.
    Powerbook G4   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

You need to turn off automatic sync before you delete all your tracks from iTunes. If you don't, then you need to prevent the iPod from synching when you connect:
While connecting the iPod to the computer, hold down the Command and Option keys on a Mac. This should stop the iPod from auto synching with iTunes and the iPod will appear in the source list. Wait until you are sure the iPod has mounted, and that it will not auto sync and then you can let the keys go. This may take between 3 and 25 seconds depending on your computer. Then you can set iTunes to manual synchronization.
Of course, this won't help if your iPod has already had the tracks removed. But you'll know what to do next time.
    Regards.

  • How can I turn off genius in iTunes 10.5.3 (3)

How can I turn off Genius in iTunes 10.5.3  under Lion 10.7.3 (other than disconnecting from the internet). It is no longer an option in the Store menu and although I can hide that playlist on the left through parental controls, the atom symbol is still present in the lower right of the window available to generate a list from a selected song. Thank you.

I have the option to turn it off. What version of iTunes are you using? I have the latest iTunes. Have you tried signing out of the store?

Have your husband text the word "stop" to 48369. This should take his number out of the iMessage system.
Go into your settings under messaging and make sure the box to send as an SMS if iMessage is unavailable is checked.
Hopefully this will get your messages sending/receiving to each other.

I wouldn't do that either. Just let it complete.
Pausing then disconnection you I net connection may drop the download again and then you may have to start over.

  • HT201412 My ipad does not turn off...i tried pressing the Sleep/Wake button and Home button for 10 secs but no response. Also, the screen is not rotating on portrait or landscape view...any suggestions?

My ipad does not turn off...i tried pressing the slep/wake button and home button for more than 10 secs but nothing hapened. Also, the screen is not rotating on portrait and landscape views...

While this could potentially be a hardwar issue:
Try a rest: Simultaneously hold down the Home and On buttons until the iPad shuts down. Ignore the off slider if it appears. Once shut down is complete, if it doesn't restart on it own, turn the iPad back on using the On button. In some cases it also helps to double click the Home button and close all apps from the tray before doing the reset.
If the reset doesn't work, you may need to consider restoring the iPad to factory settings

  • How can I turn off sound for a single application?

So I'm playing iTunes while browsing the web. I come to a webpage with some really annoying Macromdia Flash content. Lots of noise. I'd like to turn the sound off for my browser (Firefox) without turning off iTunes. Similar problem occurs when I'm playing games ... I'd sometimes like to be able to play my own music instead of the game soundtrack. So I'd like to be able to tell the game to be silent without turning the sound of my Mac off completely.
On my Windows XP machine, whatever application currently has control of the sound is the only one that can make noise. On the Mac the sounds layer together. That's much better in the case of, for example, e-mail app signaling that new mail has arrived. But it is really annoying for the two cases I mentioned above.
Is there any way in the MacOSX operating system to control the volume for a particular application? Is there any other sound control software that folks know about that I should consider acquiring?

Kinda funny... I found this article while searching for an answer to my question:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93610
At the very end of the article, it mentions the "bug" that only one app on Windows can play direct sound at a time. That's exactly the "feature" I'm looking for on the Mac. Funny how one person's bug is another's feature.

    Thank you Jaba,
it is Toshiba Satellite A200 Series. Drivers, its configuration and configuration of operating system is OK. The wheel is mechanical damaged, so that is the point. I have to disable its function in operating system. But where can I disable it? I have tried to uninstall Toshiba utilities (controls, hotkeys), reinstall drivers. I have tried to find an option in BIOS, there was no one.
btw: I am a linux administrator, but I have advanced knowledge of windows systems so you can be short.

  • How do I turn off artwork in iTunes Mini player 11.0.4?

I have been very vocal in mourning the loss of Cover Flow but now I've given iTunes 11 a second chance on my MacBook Pro.
The most irritating thing is the Mini Player is no longer 'mini'. How can I turn off artwork display when in mini mode? The whole point of this is to enable iTunes control whilst working, but having a big square displaying album artwork is just counter-productive.
I just want the option of a minimalist player when working.
    Thanks,
    Rich

    Ah right, thank you!
I had the box with the artwork as small as possible and couldn't see the other artwork bottom left!

How do I turn off a game after playing it so the app won't run down the battery. This has happened 2x and I have had to reset my phone.

To completely close an app (though a lot of apps don't remain active when you switch into a different app or go to the homescreen) : from the home screen (i.e. not with the app that you want to close 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of the app to close it, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.

  • How do you turn off sounds when using phone?

I know this question is not appropriate for this forum but I cannot find where it should go. I want to turn off the sounds when I am using my phone, e.g., when I am texting, each time I press a key it make a sound. If I turn down the volume then I cannot hear it ring so this is not the answer.
I have the Nokia 7020 phone. I cannot find any help in the userguide, only how to change ring tones. Anyone have any idea? Thank you.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

On my Lumia 900, it's under Settings -> ringtones+sounds, scroll to the bottom where there is a list of check boxes, and uncheck "Key press".  Not sure it's the same for your phone, though.

  • How do i turn off auto populate itunes?

Please tell me there is a way to switch OFF the function of having iTunes automatically populating itself with every mp3 file on my hard drive.
I was horrified to find very sensitive work related phone calls and interviews in my iTunes library because they are mp3 files. I certainly do not wish to have them there. I only want my music in iTunes.
So I now cannot have iTunes open when people or clients are round, because the files are people's names. It would take hours to rename them, and why should I have to? That's how I know what's in them.
It also means that I have 8GB of stuff I do not need in iTunes and when I watch important podcast videos, the sheer volume of stuff in there slows them down and keeps stopping and starting the videos, which is hugely annoying.
Is there a way to switch this auto populate off please?

    Autastic wrote:
I definitely did not agree to it populating iTunes with all these files. It just did it on its own as soon as I opened iTunes after the new update. I assumed it was part of the update, then I saw all these millions of files. I also had my external drive connected (that has a backup of my C drive), and it copied all those files too - so I have two of everything in iTunes!
Does this mean that every time iTunes updates, this will happen? And of course an update is an install, and they happen a LOT! - way too often for my liking.
It's not normal, no, and has never happened to me on any of my systems. Something, perhaps a file permissions problem with a preference file or a corruption in the iTunes library files, caused the flag that tells iTunes that the first run has already occurred to be mis-set such that iTunes thought it was a new install.
(*) About the other headache the new update caused; when I connect my iPod I now get a box saying:
*"The iPod "(my ipod)" is synced with another iTunes library.*
*Do you want to erase this iPod and sync with this iTunes library?*
*+An iPod can be synced with only one iTunes library at a time. Erasing and syncing replaces the contents of this iPod with the contents of this iTunes library."+*
    *"Erase and Sync"* or "Cancel"
Ditto the above. That's a symptom of the same sort of problem. You'll probably need to clean up iTunes so that only the content you want there is present, and then allow your iPod to sync as if it was connecting to a new library (which in reality it will be).
I clicked Cancel as I went white thinking it would try to add all those millions of files to my iPod too. So now I can't even update my iPod.
Why on earth do I have a 2nd library? I have only ever had one PC with iTunes on. It is not on a network or anything. Is this due to the update to iTunes 10?
How can I stop future upgrades?
Turn off the automatic check in Apple Software Update, a separate application on your system.
But again, this is not normal behavior. Something was corrupt in the iTunes files on your system. So once you get a clean set, this problem should not happen again unless the same conditions (whatever those might have been: software conflict, power surge, etc.) occur again. You'll want to do some of the normal steps to check for disk problems/corruptions in Windows to make sure this isn't a systemic problem with your drive or WIndows.
    Regards.
