How do I use a Flex swc in Flash CS3?

My engineering team has used Flex to create a nice little swc
for me to use inside of Flash CS3, but now I'm having trouble
finding any documentation on how to actually import it. Placing it
in the Components folder doesn't work, as it's not recognized by
the Components window (either as an AS2 or AS3 swc). Is it even
possible to use swcs from Flex in Flash? Thank you very much for
the help.

If you're using Flex 2, there's a solution using a
manifest.xml file. Tim Walling details it on

I perferctly now how to get TLF to work in CS4.
As far as I know, the the base code is in AS3 so I should be able to locate the classes in CS3 and use it in Flash CS3.
I appreciate if there is anyone who can help me with this?

I'm not that knowledgeable about Flash Pro, however, I'd be quite surprised if you could make this work. CS4 added Flash Player 10 support. That includes a compiler update for Vector - a new AS3 feature. Minimally you'll have to get Flash CS3 to generate FP10 level content and compile with the playerglobals.swc from FP10. If you can get that far than adding textLayout.swc to your project should be straightforward.
Maybe someone else has an idea.

Hi,
You need to load a .swf file in your flash document using the loader class. I'm assuming you are using the AS3. Please click on the below link which helps you to use the loader class.

I've seen your query all over the internet, so I should warn you I don't believe it's possible to disable a List Item.
For that you should use Josh Tynjala's open source Advanced List (http://code.google.com/p/flextoolbox/downloads/list).

Flex skin in Flash CS3

Hi!
I have installed the Flex Skin Design Extensions and
Flex Component Kit for Flash CS3. But i cannot find the flex skin item under File > New > Templates > Flex Skins in flash. How can i find the items? I have tried everything. Restarting my computer, try to install it in another computer and installed the plugin files again. But non of it work for me. Is really getting my nervs.. Please.. can some one help me???

How can I use MapQuest API in Adobe Flash CC?

Since Google Maps API will be deprecated in 3 months I'm trying to use MapQuest instead. (MapQuest Developer Network: Map APIs, SDKs and Web Services - MapQuest Developer Network)
But I can't import the component MQFlashMapsAPI_7.1.5_MQ_MOBILE.swc into my project.. Any idea why?
I've read that I have to import the core.swc from the Flex SDK.. I've put the core.swc file in the components folder, but when I'm going into the components window in Adobe Flash, neither core.swc or MQFlashMapsAPI are visible.
Do you what should I do in order to import MQFlashMapsAPI in my project ?

I would be really shocked if it requires ActionScript 2.0 but CC doesn't support that. Otherwise I honestly don't know why it would want a flex library in a place you can't utilize Flex.
You say you've used this API before. Is this the same MapQuest SWC version you successfully used before or is it updated? What version of flash did you successfully use this in? Lastly did you get Flex from Adobe (4.6.0) or Apache?

How can I use a website that need Flash Player on my iPad 3?

Sorry, no. Adobe has not released a version of Flash for mobile in quite some time. They announced they were dropping Flash on mobile platforms November 9, 2011 and it was officially removed from the Google Play Store August 15, 2012. It's simply lucky that the last version released still happens to work with Jelly Bean.
Keep in mind that the fact that it works does not mean you should use it. I think it's still preferable to find native apps or mobile-friendly sites using HTML5. Since it is unsupported, there have not been for some time, and never will be any security patches. In short, use it at your own risk.

How to use embedded font (CFF) for Flash CS4?

I am trying to embed "Arial Unicode MS" for use by TLF in my Flash CS4 project. As I googled around, I am using the "Flex SWC" approach, only not having any luck. Here is what I got:

When I am trying to instantiate this class, I have AS code in my Flash main timeline:

Flash compiler says: "1067: Implicit coercion of a value of type FontEmbeds_Font1 to an unrelated type flash.text:Font."
Ok. Now after I changed it to:
var font:FontEmbeds_Font1 = new FontEmbeds_Font1();
Flash gives 3 errors:
"VerifyError: Error #1014: Class mx.core::FontAsset could not be found.
ReferenceError: Error #1065: Variable TextLayout is not defined.
ReferenceError: Error #1065: Variable MainTimeline is not defined."
I am assuming I have to create a Font1 object in order to use the embedded font. Is this assumption correct? As I've tried to use the "fontFamily" directly but Flash didn't seem to find the font at all:

In one fla where I used pure TFL, nothing gets rendered at all in the container Sprite. Flash doesn't throw any errors either. In another fla where I used a ComboBox, etc. along with TFL, it throws an error says it can't compile since "there is no ActionScript found" and I got a screen where all the Flash components were flickering. After several attempts, Flash crashed.
Also as a side note, the swc gets generated by Flash Builder Beta 2, at first it was 18mb and the second time I complied it become 9mb and stayed 9mb afterwards. Not sure if that's a concern.
