How do I use airplay to stream a DVD movie playing in my computer to display on my TV?
I have a 2nd generation Apple TV and computer is a 2011 Macbook Pro. Processor 2.8 GHz Intel Core i7. Memory 4 GB 1333 MHz DDR3. Graphics Intel HD Graphics 3000 384 MB. Software Mac OS X Lion 10.7.5 (11G63). Storage: about 500GB free out of 750GB.
I have a DVD player within my computer. Trying to play a movie from my computer to display onto my TV using my Apple TV airplay. But the airplay icon is not showing or giving the option to play a movie onto my TV.
I've installed all software updates and still I'm not able to have this functionality.
I assume this functionality exists where I can play a DVD on my computer, but watch it on my TV using my Apple TV, correct?

AirPlay Mirroring requires a second-generation Apple TV or later, OS X 10.8 or better and is supported on the following Mac models: iMac (Mid 2011 or newer), Mac mini (Mid 2011 or newer), MacBook Air (Mid 2011 or newer), and MacBook Pro (Early 2011 or newer). You can see which Mac you have and which operating system you are using by selecting 'About this Mac' from the Apple menu in the top left corner of your Mac and selecting the 'More Info' button.
AirPlay Mirroring from a Mac also requires a fairly robust network.
You may find a third party product that you can use instead of AirPlay.

Try the following steps, check whether things are working after each step where appropriate, before trying the next.
Restart the Apple TV (Settings > General > Restart).
Restart the Apple TV by removing ALL the cables for 30 seconds.
Restart your router.
Reset the Apple TV (Settings > General > Reset > Reset all settings)

You have to have an iOS device (iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch) or Mac to create an iCloud account. However, if you tell your friend to create a shared photo stream and turn on Public Website, he/she will then be able to send you a link that will allow you to view the photos on the internet using your web browser. You would not be able to comment on the photos as this requires an iCloud account, but you would be able to view them.

I want to be able to use airplay to stream audio to another iOS device, and then use that audio stream to be used when recording video instead of the built in microphone / microphone input. Is this possible?
A third-party app probably cannot obtain a stream from another app. To the best of my knowledge, such a capability is not provided in the software development kit, apps being "sandboxed" from each other and so allowed to communicate only in very specific and limited ways.
I'm not completely sure what you mean by "limitations on video capture". An iPhone, to the best of my knowledge, can natively record video only through it's built-in camera, and audio while doing video recording only through the built-in microphone or mic/headphone jack. There might be a video recording app that would allow audio input from an external device connected to the dock connector, but I'm not sure.

How do i extend airplay to stream music at the same time to AEX and ATV2
I have a new ATV2 and an AEX, my macbook, 2 Ipod touches and an Ipad2.
I figured out how to setup my ATV2 and airplay through my macbook and my touches. My ATV2 is in my living room on a Yamaha 6.1 receiver with 2 channels. I have 6 speakers in my living room on channel A and a speaker in my bathroom on channel B.
So....I decided to grab an extra Bose speaker and bring it to my foyer/kitchen and hook it up to my AEX since i cant hear the music too well when im cooking or in my office from the speakers in the living room.
I setup the AEX to connect direct to the speaker. When Im on Itunes (either mac book or touch) i only get two options to airplay, AEX or ATV2.
My question: How do I extend airplay to stream music on BOTH AEX and ATV2 with the same music at the same time?
Please and thank you!As you are already aware both the 802.11n AirPort Express Base Station (AXn) and ATV2 are AirPlay "speakers." When both devices are properly connected to your home's wireless or wired network, both should show up in iTunes as in your case. Also the iTunes AirPlay speaker selector should provide you with an option to choose multiple speakers. As a minimum, you should see: Computer, the AXn, the ATV2, and the Multiple Speakers options. Is this not the case?

Yes, you can use a network storage device for the storage of your content and use it on the Apple TV, but only as part of your iTunes library. So if your question is whether or not you can do this without using your computer or iTunes the answer is no.

The first-generation Apple TV does not support airplay, so you can not use it. It will support AirTunes, which is for audio only. -

IMAC DVD Player does not recognizing dvd movie . I have an IMAC (10.7.4) using DVDPlayer (vers. 5500.26.11) and it will not recognize/play a dvd movie...it thinks it is a blank dvd. The IMAC will play rented dvd movies. The dvd movie plays fine on my Mac Book Pro (10.6.8) on the Pro's DVDPlayer (vers.5.4) abd in my external Sony DVD Player The dvd move was made/burned on a PC. Why will a dvd movie play on my Macbook Pro and not my IMAC?

This is not an area I have much experience in......I rarely insert DVDs and I have never had a similar problem.
When the DVD is in the drive (and DVD players is open) click on File>get disk info.
