How do the M7 and M8 motion co-processors differ?

Greetings everyone; I am writing an iPhone 6 Plus review for a newsletter and I am wondering about the M8 motion co-processing chip in it. How does the M8 differ from the M7's capabilities? What can the iPhones 6 and 6 Plus do with with the M8 that the iPhone 5s cannot do with the M7? I have been googling for an answer to this question without any success. Any insights anyone can share with me on this question will be appreciated.

The M8 goes to "11".
Apple has published precious little on the M8 (or the 7 for that matter). You can try posting in the developer's forum, and certainly try a bit of google searching, but you're not likely to find much more than the fact that it is designed to work with the A8 processor and is a step up from the 7.

It hasn't worked like that since the Early Chalcolithic (ie, System 7 or thereabouts).
You've already got plenty of answers. Briefly (and grossly oversimplified),
- Mac OS X conforms to a standard known as Unicode; in its current incarnation, it defines over 100k characters.
- A keypress is translated into a character according to the current keyboard layout.
- The graphic representation of a character (ie, glyph), is provided by the current font.
- If a font lacks a glyph for the requested character, either another font will be automatically chosen (Mac OS X text engine), or some form of feedback (empty box, question mark, etc) will be used.
- To inspect the actual key codes, use a utility such as Key Codes.
- To inspect the current keyboard layout, invoke Keyboard Viewer.
- To inspect the full complement of glyphs of a font, invoke Character Viewer (also accessed with the Special Characters command).
(Remember that both these utilities are resizable and zoomable -- you can enlarge them to a comfortable viewing size, then zoom out to see more of the screen for your original task.)
- For a more detailed look, use a utility such as UnicodeChecker.
- The default keyboard layout depends on your Mac OS X localisation.
(Keep in mind that there's no need to stick with the default layout; choose whichever one makes sense to you, given your language, habits, and proclivities. Mac OS X comes bundled with quite a few, including some obviously designed for the huddled masses of refugees from the Dark Side, who, in their wretched ignorance, have the unmitigated gall of labelling our native ways "really uncomfortable". Oh well, this, too, shall pass.
If none of the supplied keyboard layouts fits your needs -- if, for instance, you write your emails in Etruscan -- go out on the 'net, you'll find quite a few. Or write your own with Ukulele, it's not really all that difficult.)
- Use Keyboard Viewer to familiarise yourself with the current layout and to enter the odd character; but, to be proficient, you should learn your layout to the point that KV is no longer needed.
- Use Character Viewer to enter the odd character not available in the current keyboard layout.
Neither Keyboard Viewer nor Character Viewer are effective tools for more extensive needs, eg, for writing and editing bilingual or multilingual texts. In such a case, you should enable the respective keyboard layouts and switch between them with a keyboard shortcut.
A few interesting layouts bundled with Mac OS X have already been mentioned. Let me add three.
- Dvorak: several layouts based on the Dvorak keyboard. It is claimed that the latter is more productive and lessens RSI risk.
- US Extended: based on QWERTY, it offers a more extensive set of diacritics (eg, caron, breve) via dead keys.
- Unicode Hex Input: also based QWERTY, it allows input by Unicode codepoint (in hexadecimal), so it's the most extensive layout of all; eg, to enter the character "Parenthesized Number Twelve" (U+247F), hold down Option, type "247f", release Option.

I can't believe this conversation has gone on this long. You keep wanting it to be a bug, but it seems to me the basic problem here is that you haven't accepted the fact that YOU are responsible for getting the image metadata in order before you can use tools like the Ruler to read out in physical units, such as inches or centimeters, accurately.
Photoshop can only know the size of things in your document if you or your workflow provide it an accurate ppi value!
What's the original source of the material? A scanner? If so, some part of the scanning or image preparation process has left you with an inaccurate ppi value.
For the documents you're already working with, use Image - Image Size, then UNcheck the Resample Image checkbox and type in the correct ppi value. Then everything will work.

How will the plant and storage location be determined automatically in PO

In ME21n, I have entered Vendor, Material and Qty; also the info record is maintained. Now if I save the PO, the plant and Sloc should be auto determined. Where will I have to maintain this information.
In master data the net SLOC for EP is maintained in MRP view.
The SLoc value is getting populated if I enter the Plant.
But I want that the Plant should also be auto populated. Please provide a solution.

How do the itl and xml files work

Due to some problems I have been having (now solved) I have been trying to get to grips with how these 2 files work.
I now have a library of 37000 some songs in q:\itunes\itunes music and everything is working fine.
However when I look in the xml file some song pointers are still to my documents\my music\itunes yet itunes still finds them. How?
Does itunes look for the location set in edit>preferences>advanced>itunes music folder location first and then check the xml file address if it cannot find them there?
Also if the songs are in the correct location anyway why is the xml file pointer looking at my documents.
Does anyone know if this is abnormal? Can anyone explain the logic to me please 'cos to me it ain't logical!!

I think iTunes must have got in a muddle as a result of the way you transfered your files to the external drive.
It is important to realise that the iTunes Music folder location as designated in your preferences tells iTunes where to add music in the future. It is quite possible to get in a situation where iTunes looks there for newly added music, but continues to look in the old location for previously added files.
If the xml file tells you it is accessing files in iTunes iTunes Music on your c: drive, then that is it is telling the truth. However these files are not longer in THE itunes Muisc folder , that is to say the one set in your preferences. All very confusing I am afraid.
If your file locations get corrected when you play a track, there is something you could try.
First close iTunes and make a copy of your xml and itl files in case you don't like what happens.
Now open iTunes and go to you music view and select your entire library with select all.
Right click in the selection and choose Get Info. Say yes to multimle edits.
When you see the multipe edit Get Into screen, simply exit with OK, do nothing else. This will force iTunes to reread all your tags which may take a while if your library is large. If I geussed right, it will also update the file locations. Although I have used multiple get into in this way to correct tag into I haven't tried it to correct paths so this is just a guess - it could only possibly work for files that are in the designated iTunes Music folder in the proper place, but iTunes is still pointing to an old loaction where the files no longer exist.

How does the SDK and Reader handle printing with orientation?

I have a document that I want to print, and it contains a portrait page on Page 1, and a landscape page on Page 2. Acrobat Reader correctly prints these pages (with a single print job), and I'm assuming it's because of the auto-rotate option on the print dialog. Is this a feature of Reader, the API, or how the printer handles the request. I've tried printing this PDF just using the JAva API, but the orientation remain portrait for all pages. How does the Adobe Acrobat API deal with mixed orientation pages? Ignore the fact that I did my test printing with Java, because my question is whether or not the auto orientation is a feature of the UI, the SDK, or the printer (or a combination).

Same as the current Ipod Video or "Classic" there is an option under settings to toggle between original aspect ratio or Full Screen.

How come the song and album does not show up on top of the new iTunes?

I just downloaded the new iTunes and when I go to play a song, the title and album does not show up on the top of the screen. The only thing that is there is the Apple logo. Does anyone know why this is? and how can I get it to show the song title and album.
The song is playing right now, but it is not showing up where it used to. (Where the Apple logo is)

How keep the font and color from changing in cells/rows?

I find it extremely annoying that when I remove the contents of a cell, the blank cell no longer retains the font & color settings of what had been there before. This is a problem I have both in day to day use and in starting a new document on the basis of an old one. Every month I start a couple of new documents for the month, and I use the ones of the previous months as the point of departure, since everything is set up. But each time I have to reset all the colors and fonts (I have different colors for each row), and it is time consuming and annoying. Why can't I just set the values of all the cells containing number values back to zero without changing the settings?? Or can I but don't know how?
I never had this problem with Excel or with the Appleworks spreadsheet.
Another problem I have is deleting a single cell in order to align the rows or columns; again, this was simple in Appleworks, and you have the option of the remaining cells moving up or down or left or right. But I can't figure out how to do this simple thing in Numbers.

From my point of view, you are using Numbers the bad way.
Create a template with the wanted attributes and start from the template every month.
So you will have the wanted features which is not the case with your "reuse_an_olddoc" scheme.

I'm curious how the User and Shared folders relate to the main hard drive and if there is duplicate files in these folders and the main hard drive. Some software programs I have seemed to have loaded content/info into these folders and I'm wondering why they put files in there instead of just the regular main hard drive pathing. These 2 folders are more confusing than anything. I can see that might be of use to a family and each family member wants to keep files in a personal file, but when I'm the only one using my computer, it seems like I should have the option to remove these folders completely, but I don't because I feel like I would be deleting some important files that I wasn't aware were in these folders.
Another thing is, when I click on User folders (at least I think it's the User and not Shared folder), it brings up my name and 'Shared' in 2 seperate subfolders. Is anything in these folders duplicates of what's on my main hard drive? Is there anything significant about these folders if I'm the only user on my computer?
I would nice to get rid of clutter and to eliminate options for software to install things by deleting these folders and not have home/user/shared folders. Is that possible?

They are not aliases; it is a hierarchy, and there is intentional duplication at different levels. This is a feature.
First thing is that Users and Shared are at different levels. Users is at the top level, but Shared is one level inside Users, at the same level as any other user account you have created.
Therefore, if you delete the Users folder, you delete all user accounts, which means you delete all personal data. OS X probably won't even let you delete the Users folder unless you start up from a different hard drive, because you can't delete your user account while you are running in it.
Now, more about the hierarchy. The intentional duplication is so that documents and software can exist for individual users or all users. For example, there are multiple Applications folders:
Hard Drive\Applications - applications any user can see, installed at the system level
Hard Drive\Users\username1\Applications = applications only that user can see
Hard Drive\Users\username2\Applications = applications only that user can see
In the same way, there are multiple Preferences, Cookies, Application Support, etc. folders at different levels, for the same reasons.
If you do not know what you are doing and you delete one of these folders that "looks like a duplicate" you could cripple some essential part of your system or your account. That is why people are telling you not to do this.
The Shared folder is there because if you are in one user account you are prevented from seeing the files inside other user accounts. (Because you don't want other accounts to be able to see your personal data.) If you want to share files with others in your house using the same Mac, that's a problem. But the Shared folder solves this. if you want some files to be accessible to all users, like some photos or music, just put them in the Shared folder and now anyone with an account on that computer can see those shared files.
The reason shared files are not simply stored at the top level is because everything above the Users folder is supposed to be reserved for the system. User-specific are supposed to stay in the Users folder. That is why they put the Shared folder in there.
If you are not using the Shared folder and are just eyeing it because you want to free up some disk space, well, it probably won't help to delete it. Because if you are not using the Shared folder, it is probably not taking up much space, even though you see stuff in there. And if there is stuff in there taking up space, first figure out if someone put it there for a reason before you delete it.

How run the wsh and consperf utility

I installed Mobile Server on IAS 10.1.2.0.2 and I am reading a white paper called "Oracle Lite In Depth", and I would like to know how can run the utilities of Oracle Lite: wsh and cosperf.exe.
What I intended is:
To start the wsh utility:

Respect to the consperf, the document mentions that I need to connect to the Repository and run the next select to get information that I requiered to use for the consperf. However, I execute the sentence in my the Database central and the result is: table or view doesn't exist:

for the consperf utility, the best way is via the mobile manager if you are on 10.2 (did not use to work correctly). as part of the details you will need to specify which publication items you want to analyse.
In mobile manager go to data synchronisation>repository>publications>your pubplication>publication items. You will see a list of all the publication items part of the publication. column 1 is the internal name (begins WTGPI_ followed by a number), column 2 is the owner, column 3 the object name etc.
take a note of the WTGPI numbers for the objects you want to analyse
go to data synchronisation>performance>users (hidden in the text on the left)
pick a user and press subscriptions.pick the application and press consperf performance analysis and then the link to set the parameters.
You can leave the pubitem parameter with the default of <ALL>, but this make take a LONG time to run. Better to type into the field one or more WTGPI numbers seperated by commas (eg: WTGPI_10260,WTGPI_10261).
I would also advise setting the tolerance to 1 rather than the default 20. First time leave everything else and press OK.
You will get a spinning clock whilst it works. It sometimes does not return correctly, so press refresh from time to time.
Once finished you will see links to 2 filestiming and execution plan. timing will compare execution of the different execution templates for sync, and MGP processing. In each set there will be a value with < > around it - this is the rtemplate being used. If there is a significantly smaller value in the same set, then you will be able to improve performance.
to change the template being used, run consperf again with the same parameters and set AUTOTUNE to YES.
There is a table in the mobileadmin schema c$consperf that will show publication items with specific templates rather than the default.
NOTE i would suggest that the best approach to tuning is to set up the application and users and then run a couple of MGP apply/compose cycles. Look at the user details and you will see the execution time in milliseconds for each publication item. anything less than 1000 is probably not worth the effort, anything over 5-7000 definitely is. You may be able to get some improvement via consperf, but you will also need to look at the execution of the underlying query for the problem publication item. NOTE subsetting parameters as VARCHAR2, so check for typecasting if you use them, otherwise normal Oracle tuning techniques

Previously i was able to select tools in the bridge and then select image processor to make jpegs from my tiffs, the image processor tab is no longer on the tools drop down menu
