How do the point get applied to my ID?
I have assisted several people through the forums. If they return to the discussion thread and mark the post as answered (green star), wouldn't that mean I should be granted points for providing the information? (Especially if I were the only one that answered?)
So, two primary questions...
1: How do I get the points associated to my Apple ID?
2: Who(or how) do I contact to ensure they are applied to my ID?I just read some of your posts and you have no points? That is not a drought, that is just rude behaviour by others if you ask me, and fair play to you for giving so much time to the forum. Hang on in there till the users here get the idea that we are here for free and for fun and want to help where we can, and the points awarded should reflect one's usefulness, for want of a better word. Based on your points you are not useful, although your posts say otherwise, and having not visited the forum for a few months either side of the new look, which is very good btw, and recently made about 60 posts and received 2 helpfuls, I dont feel too valued either.
There is a little bit of dented ego in my thoughts, but basically I am a Machead and liked contributing technical help to this community rather than other forums because there was a sense that Levels gave credibility to one's answers, and the more i learned the more I was able to help, and my points reflected that.
Apparently that old points system was seriously flawed. Oh well! Personally I think the old way was a fun train that had momentum, whereas now the system has a built in brake. Maybe in the past some friends did bump up friends' tallies and people got points for worthless posts, but there was always a sense that knowledgeable users shined through, and their points reflected their knowledge. Now I think there are lots of very smart former Windows admins and power users floating around giving out amazing advice, but the miserly helpfuls is not giving them credibility.
Anyway, I am still more or less inclined to help out and where necesaary go searching for solutions for people who cant be bothered to even Google or search the archives here for solutions, but now i share my time in the help sections of other forums where there is no points system and you take info almost as pot luck because you dont know the knowledge level of posters, and as time is limited that means less time here.
Perhaps the mods could set up some sort of test for each section so people could pit their skills and show a level of expertise, and have that as the basis of levels. Then it doesnt really matter so much if people arent community spirited with their helpfuls.
Hopefully the atmosphere here will change for the better with some moderated tweakings to the points/credibility system.

A magnet fell on my macbook "late 2007 series black" and it stopped working. When i start my macbook up it sits on the white screen. i tried inserting the snow leopard disk to do a clean install but the disk ejects and all i see is the pointer. i even bought a new hard drive to do the clean install but the same thing happens. Please Help
Your problem is not Boot Camp, in fact, is your optical drive. Win XP requires indeed sp2, but also the internal drive, does not work from external optical drive.
For other possible tricks, please use the appropriate Boot Camp forum, not here. Mac OS X may be installed from both external and internal optical drive and/or internal/external partition of a disk, any disk. Windows is not so generous. -

ThanksDetermine what you need to do then decide if the iPad would help you do it. Don't decide on hardware then ask what it can do for you. Find out what you need to do then buy the hardware that does it.
Say you were in the market for a car. Would you ask what a Focus could do for you or would you determine what you need to do with a car then buy the car that fits the bill? Say you want to drive off road. Then you likely won't buy a Focus.
Same goes for your iPad question. If you determine you need to write lots of papers for school, then you probably need a computer not an iPad. But if you plan on spending all your time browsing the web maybe the iPad will work for you. But if your browsing includes a lot of flash sites then maybe the iPad is not your best choice.
So decide what you need to do then ask if the iPad will do it for you. -
My Magic Mouse is not moving the pointer on screen. However, it is allowing me to scroll text up and down by dragging my fingers on the mouse. How can I recover full use? I am using a MacBook Pro with Mavericks. All indications are that the mouse is connected through the Bluetooth connection and the batteries have significant life in them.

Mouse does not track as expected (jittery, jumpy, slow, fast).
The Apple Wireless Mouse can be used on most smooth surfaces, however if tracking issues occur try these options:
Choose System Preferences from the Apple () menu, then choose Mouse from the View menu. Set the Tracking slider to adjust how fast the pointer moves as you move the mouse.
Try using a different surface to see if the tracking improves.
Turn the mouse over and inspect the sensor window. Use compressed air to gently clean the sensor window if dust or debris is present.
If multiple Bluetooth wireless devices are in use nearby, try turning them off one at a time to see if the issue improves. Bandwidth intensive devices could affect tracking. -
The answer helped me.But still, what are the settings that I have to change for the behavior of the mouse pointer towards finder? Also the mouse pointer sometimes doesn't accept my command and start clicking itself.what is the problem and how to fix it?
If the mouse clicks something on its own then it looks like you have a hardware problem with the trackpad or possibly the battery that is right underneath the trackpad.
I have read that the battery can swell and that would put pressure on the trackpad. -

Don't worry, just follow these steps to fix iPhone stuck on Apple logo
=> First of all Start your Computer and then connect with Internet connection, now Download the latest version of the iTunes application
=> Now install the iTunes application in your System and connect your Device with computer via Data cable
=> Now connect your Device with iTunes application and then Tab on summary option, see in the left side bar of iTunes
=> Now Select restore option from iTunes and then confirm the Restore Message for better results. After this unplug your Device and Restart it

I just bought a macbook pro and I want to know how to restore pictures that were backed up on iCloud but then deleted from my phone. Isn't that the point of the backup so I can delete and make more space. Please help!
Log into the iCloud on your MacBook Pro and enable Photo Stream:
Then launch iPhoto and set iPhoto's Photo Stream preferences to the following:
Then check the Photo Stream section of iPhoto:
This is to confirm that the photos are still in Photo Stream. If they are they will be imported into the library.
NOTE: not all photos in an iPhone will be in the Photo Stream. PS only keeps photos in it for 30 days.
If you have the missing photos in your library put them in an album. Connect your iPhone to the Mac and open iTunes. In iTunes you can select that album in the library and sync the photos to your iPhone to get them back on the iPhone.

Are you talking about the "Legend" panel at the right of the window?

I would like to plott data from a text file in the same way as a media player does from a video file. I’m not sure how to create the pointer slide function. The vi could look something like the attached jpg.

i am not realy sure what you want!?!?
i think you want to display only a part of the values you read from XYZ
so what you can do:
write all the values in an array.
the size of the array is the max. value of the slide bar
now you can select a part of the array (e.g. values from 100 to 200) and display this with a graph
the other option is to use the history function of the graphes

How can I display date+time and not the point number in excell?

Could anybody tell me how I can save date + time to a file, so that I can display on a diagram(excel) : date+time in (ox) and data (oy)? :
My program sets in (ox) the point number and not the date+time....( although date and time are written correctly in the column...)

excel uses 01.01.1900 00:00 as the time offset, LabVIEW uses 01.01.1904 02:00, so you can't display the correct datetime in excel when you write the time as a fractional number of seconds from LabVIEW. you must format the datetime in LabVIEW to a string and write that to the column. use the "Format Date/Time String" - function and for example "%d.%m.%Y %H:%M:%S%3u" as the format string (see the functions help for more examples). you also could format your data to a string using "Format Into String" - function and write the file as a 2D string array. the decimal point you have to use depends on your system and its settings, but you can specify the decimal point in the Format string like "%.;%f" (means fractional number with point as decimal point).

So basically my iPhone 5 has been heating up so bad that it feels like its about to over heat and die. I've never had this happen to any other of my iPhones. On top of that the battery is dying so fast that on a full charge is lasts about 3 hrs give or take. Ive tried closing all my apps like i usually do anyways, i tuned down the light, I've reset it and booted it back up, reset it and used iCloud backup, ext... Nothing is working. I'm to the point where i almost want to get a new phone. I even tried calling apple support and they couldn't help me cause from what it sounded like they had no idea what they were doing. If anyone has any comments on how to fix this i would greatly appreciate it . I do love apple products and i have a upgrade and plan on upgrading my phone when the new one comes out but for the time being IDE like to fix the phone i have now that I've only had for a little bit anyways. You are probably going to have to take a trip to the Apple Store, but you can also make sure that:
Bluetooth is turned off when not in use
Location Services are only turned on for those locations that you want a constant update to
Background App Refresh is turned off
Automatic Downloads is turned off
Cellular Roaming is turned off when you don't need it
Go through your Settings and take a look at all of the settings to determine if you have any turned on that may be using a lot of battery, and which you really don't need.

Which in short text means that for each question you have 10 points, which can be given to the person that answers your question. 6 & 2 points should also be given for helpful answers. For every question you later award points for, you in turn receive 1 point for.
you would find three radio buttons on the left hand side of your query with marked with 3 colors. Choose the suitable one based on the merit of the answer.

I am using a VI to analyse an AVI file showing liquid particle flow I want to acheive this in real time, by using the video capture card, however the system is far too slow to acheive this I am using colour matching, and doing some binary operations
