How do you get apps to stop crashing?

All my apps crash every 5 seconds & its very annoying. Is there any way to make this stop? P.S. I can't reset it because my lock button suddenly became jammed as well. Thanks!

On first glance, it seems it might have something to do with writing cookies. Try quitting Safari and moving either the ~/Library/Cookies/ folder or the Cookies.plist file therein, to the desktop.

Your fan(s) will run at high speed (i.e., loudly) while video is playing, and you can't get around that.
If your fans are not slowing down within 2-4 minutes after CPU- and/or GPU-intensive usage ends, and the application that was showing the video is still running, Quit that application. (In fact, if you're accustomed to Windows, you may not realize that simply closing a Mac application's window does not quit the application. You still need to use the Quit command in the application-name menu. There will always be a bright dot beside or below the application icon in your Dock for each application that is open.) Quit the ones you aren't using, and see whether that allows the fans to slow down without restarting the machine. If that doesn't do the trick, reset the SMC:

How do you get PSE12 to stop opening the keyword menu at the top of the screen when you want to isolate tagged photos?????????????
it takes up 1/4 of the screen. This is so stupid. PSE10 had it done right, just a click box and boom all the photos tagged would be there!
This makes NO sense the way it is done now.
How do you turn it off, please . I am ready to send this back to amazon and go back to 10.

You can configure iTunes to sync only a subset of your music. Create a playlist in iTunes of the music you want on the iPod, and change the iPod sync settings. More info is here.

I"m not sure exactly what to do because once I got mine sorted out I can't exactly replicate it to test it, but it's like somehow your ID gets messed up.
I tried to download an app, then Apple thought that I'd never bought anything from my device so went through the whole 'give your secret questions' thing and ended up having to call apple to get them to reset.
Long story short, the inability to update has something to do with the App Store not recognizing your device, even though part of it does recognize your device (which is why you get the little badges)
You could try downloading a free app and see if you can verify your ID. Or you can poke around in here

and see if you can manage your account and see if that helps.

Hi Bubblegut. Do you get a crash error? You may be experiencing a Flash problem rather than Shockwave. People do get confused as Flash was once reffered to as Shockwave Flash. Now, Shockwave just corresponds to Director.

After that, you can select the app, in this case Universal crossword, and then go to >Setup>Update Settings>Click the Cancel delivery button.
In case you have deleted the App, you can try adding it back and following the steps to cancel the delivery as well.

You can either run the app store app on your iPhone and go to the updates section (last icon on the right) and update them there directly on the iPhone (make sure you transfer your purchases on your next sync or you might have to re-update), or update them in iTunes since the Application source has an updater there as well.

Note that you can only redownload the current version from the App store.
Many developers when they updated their apps to support iOS 5 and 6 dropped compatibility for iOS 4.2.1 and earlier.
Thus, if yo have a 2G or 1G iPod Your only way is if you have the version that was compatible on your computer such as in the recycle bin/trash or in a computer file backup. In that case delete the current version that is in your iTunes App library and replace it with the older version. Then sync.

How do I get Firefox to stop crashing when opening?

I've been using Firefox for years but now it keeps crashing when opening and all I get is the Crash Report Dialog Box. I'm using version 3.6.12. Downloading it again does not help. Most important is getting back in to save my bookmarks. Some of the FAQ's mentioned creating a a new profile to get around the crash problem, but doesn't that mean Firefox has to be running to get to the Profile Manager?

How do you make iTunes U stop crashing on iPad?

iTunes U worked perfectly when it was part of iTunes. Now that it's a separate app it crashes every 90 seconds or so. I've tried everything including uninstalling and reinstalling, closing all open apps, and purchasing and running a memory management app. Nothing helps.
I wish i could restore my device to an earlier time and get rid of the iTunes U app. It has really dampened my enthusiasm for the iPad.

I have the same issue. I am, or was, an avid itunes user, but since the new app, it crashes more often than not, and this has removed the thrill of the ipad. Talk about getting set up for the fall. I also wish to have it back in itunes where it worked every time and never crashed. I don't understand why this can't be brought back to Apple's normal excellent standards. Hello, anybody out there from Apple that is reading this? Itunesu was as exciting as the ipad revolution and it has just been allowed to crash and burn. Not very Apple like.
