I feel your pain.
I have experienced the exact thing. restore from itunes OR iCloud has successfully restored all my settings, EXCEPT EVERY-SINGLE-MSG. lol. Nothing. Even repeated it., no luck .
It seems to be a hit or miss.
I've read people from 3GS-i5, 4s-i5, not having the issue....meanwhile, you and I are lucky enough to have experienced it. Oh and also it's not across the board. Some people only lost certain SMS which weren't in their contacts...how odd?

I have the same problem from iPhone5S to S3. Finally I switched to iPhone 5S from a Samsung Galaxy Android. This device is absolutely flawless. Noticeable faster than my S3 which I never thought was slow. Camera is good too. So far I'm pleased!
Now back to the topic. I have used the program called mobitrans phone transfer to transfer all the data (including SMS and contacts) from my galaxy android to my new iPhone 5S:
I guess it supports all the android and iPhone devices.

How to transfer contacts & text messages from 6230...

I have recently bought a 5230 Navi and also transferred from Virgin to 3 because the phone I bought, via eBay, although brand new and never used was locked to 3 and apparently the 5230 is difficult to get unlocked other than through 3.
Can anyone give me a step by step procedure for the easiest and quickest way to transfer my contacts and text message from my old phone to my new phone.
I tried to do a backup with Nokia Phone Suite but it didn't seem to write my contacts or messages to it's file.

Just try it.. Even if the old phone does not have it; when you start 'Phone Switch' it will prompt you that the old phone does not have it but do you want to send the application to the old phone? ...and when you select 'yes' the application is sent thru' sms... and you may be able to install it on the old phone and perform the switch... ( your old phone should atleast be compatible for this though...)

There is nothing like a duo-cloud as far as i know.

How do I transfer apps, photos messages etc to new iPhone from old one?

I had an iPhone 4 and have just bought a 5s. I have signed into iCloud on the 5s but still can't get my apps, photos etc on it?
In the past, when I have bought a new iPhone, I have simply put my iCloud details into the new one and it has instantly transferred over all my messages, apps, photos etc. This isn't the case this time and I'm not sure why?
I have backed up the old iPhone on iCloud and tried to se that backup on my new one but it isn't transferring anything?
Any advice would be much appreciated!

Help! Where are my contacts & text messages after syncing new iPhone!

Hi anyone who can help!
I've just had to replace my iPhone 3G which was faulty, and got my new one today without any problem.
I did all the right things by syncing all my iPhone content last night with iTunes so that I could reload them onto the new one.
But when I plugged in the new one to sync from 'back up', it said the new iphone's software was too old, and that I would first need to
1 - set it up as a new phone
2- upgrade the software
3 Then sync again using the 'back up' content.
Well I've done the first two but after that I've found it impossible to back up using the original content and now I fear it's synced it again with new material, ie an empty phone basically! What I really need to know is all that content, ie my entire phone book AND text messages thread (going back a year) still retrievable? I've located all my contacts in the address book and I may have to re-enter them manually, which I can live with, but what about the text messages??
Any help at all much appreciated!

Text messages aren't included with the iTunes sync process except for being included with the iPhone's backup, and the same for contacts unless you are syncing contacts with a supported address book app on your computer, which must be manually selected under the Info tab for your iPhone sync preferences with iTunes.
Before syncing contacts with the Address Book app on your Mac, enter one contact in the Address Book app on your Mac. This will provide a merge prompt with the first sync for this data, which you want to select.
The same applies to calendar events before the first sync with iCal on your Mac.
If you transfer your iTunes library from your PC to your Mac per the instructions included with this link, no iTunes content on your iPhone will be erased with the first sync with iTunes on your Mac.

is there a way for the message preview to not pop up. I do not want it to interrupt me. I can see when I have a message but I don't want to see the preview. Can you help?

Reset the phone (no data, music, apps, settings) will be lost.
Hold down BOTH Home and the power button at the same time. Continue to hold until you see the Apple logo ignoring any "slide to power off" messages. Release the buttons and allow the phone to start.
Also try sending yourself a text message which may help to correct the icon badge.
