BTE in SAP CRM technical
Hi Experts,
I am new to SAP CRM technical, and as per my knowledge just like AET and EEWB we could use BTE too for enhancing the data model.
I know and have used AET and EEWB, but not used BTE yet. I have an overview knowledge about BTE and its role in CRM, but I haven't used it practically.
Could any body please share some example on BTE practical implementation, so that I could follow the same to test and analyse. This would help me to implement BTE in solving real time problems faced by my clients.

Certification is added advantage for any consultant working in SAP.
If you attempt for certification with SAP. your skill sets will be registered and you will get SAP USERID.
With that you can browse latest SAP Product releases and notes etc.... from SAP support portal.
There are two ways you can attempt for certification.
1) You need to go through from your current employeer.
2) You need to attend trainings from SAP.

As you already have programming experience, you can choose anything because all three are going dominate the world in another 5 years.
But give a preference to SAP HANA because it needs more SAP technical side but cloud combines other infrastructures and softwares also. To be on SAP side fully, just get into SAP HANA.

It is hard, (though obviosly not impossible), for other institutions to better this standard of such courses.
If you are aspiring to Oracle DBA OCP be very sure the institute you are choosing satisifies the requirements for the Hands on Course, and do not take the institutes word for it but check.
It may well be that you are looking for institutions offering the WDP programme. This is a maximm of 6 hours/week over several weeks so IMHO is impractical if you do not live nearby. There appear to be comments that sometimes the training from these institutes doing the WDP course can be of very variable quality. Probably the only option here is to seek out the opinions of recent psat students you can trust. -

CRM service : The organisation which are providing service for there sold products mostly implelents SAP CRM Service.
i.e. LG is providing service for there sold products TV, A/C and many more.
Now the scenario is like this each company is having there differnt methods to provide service for products.
Service is always calculated with help warranty period for each product which is sold.And we have to MAP all the Service process for client in SAP CRM.
suppose take this scenario as example :
foe service center of LG :
1) The employee at service center will get a call for providing service for one of the product which was sold by LG e.g. TV.
2) Then at service center end the employee will raise the service order for this LG TV.
3) Now order will contain the header and item data for that LG TV.
4) Then this service order will be processed at various stages e.g after raising the open service order technician will get that ref order no and then technician will visit the customers home for analysing the LG TV then he will again come to service center and updatyes the service order i.e. Is that TV is within the warrenty or not depends on that type of service order will be decide is In Warrenty service order or out waarenty service order.
4) Finaaly it will get settled at the upper most level where that the completed status.
5) One more thing all craeted service orders are getting replicated to ECC as a sales order.
Rest of the scenarios are almost same like CRM Sales.
But in CRM Service you have to face different different Methods of providing service for customer and its tough to MAP in SAP because every Compny is having there on process of giving service to the customers .

Course WUS581 - Technical Details of SAP CRM Web UI
I had the opportunity to attend 'WUS581 - Technical Details of SAP CRM Web UI' last month in Atlanta. I understand it to have been the first time the course was offered in the US.

I believe this was an adaptation of the material from the Deep Dive Series. I have to say, that it was pretty fast paced as well - you really need to keep up as much of the material built upon what was already taught.
The materials from the class are invaluable. The labs were well done, and offered detailed solutions. The labs were numerous, appropriate, and clean. Most of the twenty exercises were cumulative. I have since gone back to review some of the concepts, and the material stands well even outside of the classroom.
This course has given me a much better understanding of the bigger picture. While I have not come from a CRM or BSP background, I have been working with webUI on a CRM 7.0 based SAP Custom Development Solution, [Fund Raising Management|http://www.sap.com/services/portfolio/customdev/brochures/index.epx] for about half a year. So, I had at least been exposed to the workbench and some concepts over the previous six months. This course really helped me tie some things together.

I'm curious to find out how did you find out that the course you took was scheduled. The reason why I'm asking is that I didn't even know that SAP even offered the course in the US, so I would have tried to attend myself if I found out about in advance.
Glad to see you recommended the course. There isn't going to be much CRM related technical content at SAP Teched in Las Vegas this year, however there may be at least one session attending (wink-wink), that's not listed yet. I would still recommend that CRM development folks still attend teched, because there is plenty of great technical content that we can use regardless.

I have got privileged of working on some C4C assignments & as far as my vision goes. A CRM Technical consultant is an integral part of any C4C/implementation or AMS environment.
C4C has a real time integration/initial migration and a day to day basis data flow possible from Backend SAP CRM system. At Backend CRM, XIF adapter is tapped extensively to leverage these functionalities & as a CRM consultant it is not tough to adapt to the Cloud environment of C4C as well but Yes the UI technology has changed as well the view layouts.

SAP CRM 7.0 - Interactive reporting tool enhancing reports with new fields
Hi Everyone,
I am a BW Professional, currently working on evaluating the true benefits of implementing Interactive Reporting tool for our company. As I understand the Interactive reporting tool restricts us to report on individual reporting areas like Activities, Leads, Opportunties etc.
But according to our business it is very important for us to be able to report on cross reporting areas real time i.e. activities & leads together or activties, leads & opportunties together etc.
I learned about the enhancement work bench in interactive reporting tool where we can add SAP fields to individual reporting areas, so I thought of adding leads & opportunties to activities. This is where the fun part starts.
Here I learned that all activty ID, Lead ID and Oppo ID are all fed from one single field from SAP CRM i.e. OBJECT_ID, which means the system is dividing this data into individual reporting areas based on type of data i.e. leads or oppor's etc. and may be based on some key like account etc. So here is a technical question, for me to add a new field to a reporting area I have to give a field name but we already have OBJECT_ID from where I am pulling activties data, so if I want to include leads also in activties then I will have to add some logic manually to get that and can't use enhancement workbench because it is for missing fields from SAP CRM whereas in my case I already have OBJECT_ID from where I am getting Activity data.
Sorry if I am driving you guys crazy but I am just trying to think loud to make myself clear with concepts.
Also I have seen that a reporting area in Interactive reporting tool is based on a BW query, but I am not sure why not all the fields in BW query are available for reporting in Interactive reporting tool?
Any help or commets will be greatly appreciated.

checking with the config wizard is always a good idea since it's the only supported way to configure this scenario
The secret is that you apparently did not activate the report areas. It is a bit missleading that the queries are checked before the report areas are checked, therefore you see the errors concerning the queries first. Below those errors you should find some lines like
Report areas: delivered 15, active <?>
CRM interactive reports: delivered 20, active <?>
Activation of report areas checked
The last line offers some documentation and the actual link to activate the report areas.

Sap crm 7.0 Browser settings for explorer 6.0 and Mozila Fire fox 6.0
In web Ui, when ever i try to create a new opportunity, Quotation, Sales agreement or order, I am getting an error in brower. in a popup :
An error has occured in the script on this page
Error: Oject doesnt support this property or method or Invalid Argument in Explorer 6.0.
I tried installing Mozila to check whether this is a browser issue, But there also
error is This website, does not supply ownership information connection is not encrypted.
I have tried changing the settings in Explore 6.0 to enable the following
1. Click the Security tab
2. In the resulting window, click the Custom Level button to open the Active X settings.
3. Under ActiveX controls and plug-ins the settings should be:
4. Automatic prompting for ActiveX controls: Enable
5. Binary and script behaviors: Enable
6. Download signed ActiveX controls: Prompt
7. Download unsigned ActiveX controls: Prompt
8.Initialize and script ActiveX controls not marked safe: Prompt
9.Run ActiveX controls and plug-ins: Enable
10.Script ActiveX controls marked safe for scripting: Enable
11.Under Downloads the settings should be:

4. Under Browsing, click to clear the Enable third-party browser extensions (requires restart) check box.

Automatic creation of Service Arrangements in SAP CRM 2007
Dear all
we're using SAP CRM Resource Planning with HCM integration, so get the Employee Master and requried Availability Info Types replicated from HCM via ALE.
Unfortunately, between the creation of an Employee and the Time Distribution, a Service Arrangement must be created manually. As both the HCM-side steps are executed automatically as background job, we are trying to find a way to also create Service Arrangements automatically. We do not need to maintain any data other than ID and Name for the Service Arrangement in the first place.
Can you point me to a way to do this - eventually a function module that would be available for this purpose?

Technical Information : As Assignment functionality is based on WFM Core, there are some BadI's exposed. You can implement them to achieve your functionality.

Implementation Purpose
CRM_SRV_SDL_WFM R/3 connection to the WFM Core
CRM_SRV_SDL_RFC TCP/IP connection to the SAP Business Connector when using the external Scheduling Engine of a third party vendor.
In our development scenario, we have used the BadI's CRM_SRV_SDL to achieve the functionality.

How to mark product mandatory in SAP CRM Opprotunity and Quotation?
Hello All,
We are using SAP CRM 4.0 and have one requirement as follows:
Through Configuration ,I am not able to find the the way to mark mandatory for the fields Product , Description,Quantity,Exp.total Value under the Products Tab for the Opportunity. Also the field product under products Tab for the Quotation.
Can this be done through Config or Technically? please provide the steps for the needful and also advise do i need to put this at header or item level?

External MIDI recorded as Audio is early
Why is it when I record MIDI data sent from Logic 8.02 to an external synth module and recorded back to Logic as audio is the audio earlier in time than the MIDI? I played with various delay comp settings and this didn't seem to help. Many thanks! Al
