How is this possible?

I messed up my internal Apple/Hitachi HD in my MacBookPro, had to erase it and then do a restore from Time Capsule, successfully.
Somehow (using Disk Utilities from SL Installation Disk with Time Capsule option) in this process my restore went into an external Seagate 500GB HD and when I restarted the computer this was a Start-up HD!
Of course, I went to System Preferences to Start-up Disk and selected the original Apple/Hitachi disk and everything works normal.
Now Startup Disk shows me 3 choices to use to start up my MBP:
     1. Apple/Hitachi 500GB disk internal in MBP
     2. Seagate 500 GB external HD
     3. New Technology 500GB external HD, created by SuperDuper back-up (which makes the disk bootable)
How am I able to startup from these 2 external HD's? and use these disks for computing & internet etc.?
I am using Snow Leopard 10.6.8 (on all 3 disks)
     - but there is no RAM in the external disks!!! (4GB in the Hitachi disk in MBP)
Where am I "mistaken"? Am I?
A 2nd question: If I am correct how this setup is working, could I install Lion (from Thumb Drive) on one of the external HD's Seagate or Newer Technology?
preserving my SL10.6.8 on the internal drive of MBP and then use Startup Disk panel to choose whichever system I want to use (SL or Lion)?

If you have drives containing bootable volumes mounted at the time you run the Startup Disk preferences it will show them. Similarly when you hold the option key down when booting. They are all potential bootable systems you can choose so, yes, you could have SL on one bootable volume and Lion or another and choose among them either with Startup Disk or using the option key during boot. They are disk volumes and has nothing to do with the ram (memory) on your machine. You seem to be confusing the term "ram" with hard drive volumes used to store data (and operating systems).

If you just installed iCloud does that mean you updated the iOS that's running on your iPad? If so, you'll want to restore all the programs you have from the backup you hopefully made.

If you don't want to use iCloud, simply don't activate it.
You can also download the programs again.

The system regularly lets the battery drop to about 95% when on the charger, then recharges to 100%. This lets the batery exercise "just a little" all of the time and saves the recharge curcuits from overuse.
Regualr occurence for me.
Also ... you need to let your battery work at least once per month. Let it run down to 40%, but not less if you can at all avoid it. Running thr battery fully dead will shorten the battery life significantly.

The estimated song capacities, such as 4000 songs in 16 GB, are based on 4 minute songs of 4 MB each, which is what you get at 128 encoding.
Most of us nowadays use well above 128. (For example, the iTunes Store and Amazon MP3 both sell songs only in 256.)
However, you can still make more songs fit! When you sync your iPod, use the option to "convert higher bit rate songs," as pictured. Choose 128. This fits more on the iPod, but does not change the songs in your library.

Thanks for the question. Based on what you stated, it seems like you are getting a message when trying to backup to iCloud. I would recommend that you read these articles, they may be helpful in troubleshooting your issue.

Lost Mode and Play Sound are "Pending." However, iCloud indicates that it connected and backed up to iCloud at a date that is 1 week after it went missing. How is this possible without locking (Lost Mode Pending an internet connection)

My wife lost her iPhone two weeks ago while on vacation in London (cell service inoperative in foreign country). Using Find My iPhone app on my device, I activated Lost Mode and Play Sound. However, both are listed as "Pending," since it those actions require the phone to connect to the internet (wifi only due to no cellular data coverage.).
We recently returned home and purchased a new iPhone.
However, when looking to restore the apps/settings from her old phone using a previous iCloud backup, iCloud indicates that the old phone connected to iCloud and backed up the original phone at a date that is 1 week after it went missing. How is this possible without locking (Lost Mode Pending an internet connection)?
If the phone was activated and connected to the internet via a wifi signal, shouldn't it immedately lock, show up on the map, Play Sound, and send me an email that the phone has been found?
I also read somewhere that if running iOS 7, the iCloud website interface enables you to track previous locations, for instance if the phone moves from wifi hotspot to hotspot. Is that true? If so, how do I do that?

This is possible to be connected to WiFi but not internet.
You connect to your modem/router via WiFi and whether it is connected to the internet or configured properly to route the internet to WiFi devices is a different story.
Now if you've already reset your WiFi (try disabling and enabling) and perhaps even restarting your MBP
Then make sure that your modem/router is connected to the internet.
You can try any other device, lights on the modem/router or use Eth cable to test.
Report back your findings.

Look at the USB stick in Disk Utility and check whether it may be partitioned or have other software on it taking up space.

Did you check your trash? If you dont empty it it will fill up and cause your HD to fill up even though you think you have removed some stuff.
You should get a small program called "whatsize". Do a google and download it.
Running it will show you what is filling up your HD and I believe that you can remove files with whatsize.

Because the drive was disconnected Time Machine made a local snapshot on your Mac.

Delete the Contact app, how is this possible?

both my ios devices show my contacts app as installing, waiting for the download to start. like they were normal apps, not one of apples.
If I tap and hold on the app, it lets me delete it. I did this on the iPhone after doing a phone restore did not fix the issue. I know everyone says it can't be done because it's an apple app, but I did. I got the warning about deleting this app will delete it's information, etc... I went ahead with it as nothing else has worked up to this point. (and yes, the apps that rely on the data still have access to that data it seems)
my question is two fold, how is this possible? And how do I get it back?

Trust me, this is NOT an app downloaded from the App Store. i put all my 'apple' apps together in one folder by group/type. Nothing else goes in those folders. And it had the icon of the contacts app. It was also the only one of those to show a "waiting..." And icon greyed out like the App Store was trying to update it.
I get no results in a spotlight search. Tried that Before I posted.
I have had iOS devices for many years, ipad from day 1! so I know this is truly the contacts app from apple and thus I am truly perplexed that it let me do this.
any more thoughts or ideas?.

p.s. Same thing is happening on my iPad, here is the screen shot of the folder with the contacts icon saying waiting. I verified in the iPhone users guide that this definitely the icon for the apple contacts app. Saying waiting, not contacts.

The other day at work I discussed my boss has the capability to monitor what I am doing on the internet on my macbook. It is my computer but I use his internet. He does not know my password and I have my security settings set to NO FILESHARING. How is this possible and how do I make it stop?

Short answer, as long as your data passes through any device owned/controlled by someone else, that someone else has the potential to view your data.
Read that statement carefully. It doesn't matter whether the 'device' is a firewall in your office controlled by your boss (or by a network admin), or a router at your ISP controlled by your ISP's network folks, or even the wire run into your building and maintained by your local telco. Whoever controls the device has the potential to view the data running through it.
Now, of course, telcos and ISPs aren't supposed to snoop on your traffic - at least without a court order (can anyone say 'warrantless wiretaps'?), but the possibility remains.
One partial solution is to encrypt all your communications (e.g. HTTPS vs. HTTP, SSL vs telnet, etc.) and that may help hide the content of your communication but whoever's watching can still determine where you're going (e.g. they can see you're hitting https://your.favoritepr0n.com/ but not necessarily see the.. umm.. artwork), and that may be enough to get you disciplined.
So the short answer, either don't do things you shouldn't, or find a better boss.
